"4 Tage in NO"Bewertet von Katrin K. aus "Stuttgart, Germany" am 31. Mrz. 2012

"Bed for a visit"
We were just looking for a quiet, clean, safe place to sleep while visiting our son and his girlfriend. Queen Anne had all the charm of New Orleans and was easy and efficient and cost-effective. Perfect for the parents.
"Felt like a queen"
I liked everything about the hotel. It would have been even better if someone helped us with our bags up the staires.
"Great Place to stay"
Great New Orleans style and elegance, off the beaten path a little, but so close to so many things. Highly recommend this place.
"The Queen Anne Hotel, New Orleans"
This hotel is a lovely restored historic old home and the rooms are nice and clean. I was travelling for business purposes and it's not as ideal a location for that as I had to take cabs to the convention center, etc. However, if you have your own transportation or you are a couple on vacation, it is extremely close to the cable car system and St. Charles […] Street where there are dozens of fun restaurants and things to see and do. I was assigned a first floor room first as I checked in early but asked to be moved because the room was a bit too small for doing any work. They moved me upstairs without any complaint and I got a room that was perfect for my business needs. The rooms on the second floor are larger and the desk and internet were super for doing work. Internet was free, fast, and reliable. Upstairs rooms even have a little kitchenette area so I was able to store some leftovers in the fridge and make popcorn late at night which is a nice treat while traveling. Room was beautifully decorated. It's not a true Bed & Breakfast, but the Queen Anne has the ambiance of that along with the conveniences of a modern hotel. They literally had everything in the room you could need from ironing board, a safe, microwave, hair dryer, coffee maker etc. Staff was helpful whenever I called or walked there to seek their assistance. Things I didn't like are that you have to check in at a location down the street which isn't ideal if arriving alone and late at night. I didn’t have that information before I arrived so after being dropped off by a cab I had to walk and hunt around for where I was supposed to check in … a slight flaw, I felt. Neighborhood is a bit mixed with lovely restored homes and vacant ones. I didn't feel particularly safe walking around alone at night. If you were with someone, you probably would feel safe. The hotel does offer a security guard to walk you to and from the main desk to the Queen Anne and over to St. Charles. On the security side, they also have Mehr
"Thank Goodness we were not in the French Quarter"
This hotel was so nice and it was in a great location in terms of restaurant selections. The neighborhood needs some work but was nothing that terrible. Room was very clean and compfortable. The only thing to consider is there is no elevator so if you have issues with stairs - ask for a 1st floor room. The decor was lovely and the breakfast was also […] satisfying. I would definitely stay here again, especially after visiting the French district - WOW that was crazy and loud. Mehr
"Quaint Hotel near New Orleans French Quarter"
We enjoyed our stay at the Queen Anne. The hotel was exactly what we were looking for! It had lots of character and charm. We actually felt as if we were staying in a private residence. The room was spacious, quiet and elegantly appointed. While not in the French Quarter, the street car stop was nearby and very accessible. The continental breakfast, […] available at the sister hotel across the street, was decent. However, we would recomend walking over to the Please U diner a short walk from the hotel on St. Charles Ave. Mehr
"Perfect place to be away from French Quarter Noise"
On the EDGE of the garden district. Be warned that the "expanded" breakfast is NOT! It is very meager.
"Nice and good price"
We like to stay in old homes redone. You don't always have everything perfect, but you understand an old house is an old house. This one was well done, had good security, and great service. I loved our breakfast person. She was so sweet and helpful. The person at the desk was helpful when we weren't sure our air was working. It was taken care of. It […] was very quiet and nice. Mehr
"Lovely stay"
This hotel is a real gem, a combination of elegant home with outstanding hotel service. My room was on the third floor facing Prytania Street, which has very little traffic. The room was spacious and well furnished, but most importantly my room was so well soundproofed that it was very hard to tell if others were staying there! Easy walking distance […] to excellent restaurants on St. Charles St. I was staying there for a conference at the convention center. I walked the 3/4 mile to the center and felt completely safe in doing so. I will be looking at this as an option for future stays in New Orleans. Mehr
"First Visit to New Orleans"
We ended up staying in 3 differnt hotels during our vacation to Louisiana. Each hotel was in the upper range but the last hotel - Queen Ann was the best. Very clean, comfortable, easy parking, close to the grant homes within the Garden District and the staff was perfect - courteous, organized, prompt and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will […] vist this BB on our next trip. Mehr
"Queen Anne - Garden District"
If you are looking for super quiet - as in you dont even know if other people are staying there - its a great place. The neighborhood is great. If you are a woman traveling alone I recommend you not stay in the front room - its a little freaky at night. But the hotel itself is clean, and completely charming.. and a good bang for your buck.
"J.R. From Southfield Michigan"
The hotel was great, apart from the check in being different from the hotel, everything was great. I would recommend upgrading the shower heads and puting the checking address on the front gate not on the door to the hotel which is about 50 feet away.
"Visit to the Queen Anne Hotel in N.O."
Whenever you book on-line, there is always that anxiety that you may not be getting what you thought you were; however, this was not the case with the Queen Anne. The room was beautifully decorated. We were surprised by the mini ktchenette. Everything was clean and pleasant. If I could have taken the bed home, I would have! I would definately stay there […] again. Mehr
"Convenient, comfortable, lovely, peaceful"
We are from NYC and often visit New Orleans. Having stayed near the French Quarter a couple of times, we opted for a neighborhood more centrally located and quieter. This was the perfect location for us. We are thinking of moving to NOLA and wanted to explore as much of the city as possible and this location allowed for this perfectly. The hotel is […] clean, beautiful and quiet. Surrounded by live oak trees, from your room you may feel you are staying in an old Victorian tree house. Our room was huge (about the size of a studio apartment in Manhattan) with 14' ceilings, a walk in closet and a non-working fireplace. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was equipped with decent towels. There is no shortage of sunlight. :) The only complaint I have is that check-in instructions should be made clearer when one books the room. We arrived at night to find that the gate was locked with no instructions on how to access the hotel -- we then called and found out that in fact you need to check in at another hotel around the corner. Once in there, the staff was helpful, lovely and gracious, but I would have loved to have known that before arriving. There is parking included and breakfast each morning from 7-9am in the **other** hotel, which proved inconvenient for us, but perhaps not for others. Mehr
"Queen Anne Hotel - a comfortable oasis"
The Queen Anne Hotel was a comfortable and quiet oasis in the city of New Orleans. The staff was helpful and friendly. We were able to purchase our three-day street car passes at the front desk at the Prytania Park Hotel. I would strongly recommend the street car pass as we could hop on and off at will. The complimentary breakfast at the Prytania Oaks […] Hotel across the street was good and better than the first day's breakfast at the Prytania Park Hotel (where you check in). We liked the free parking offered, parked our car and never had to move it as we rode the street car our whole stay. It was just a short walk to the hotel from the St Charles street car stop. I would definitely stay here again. We left early each morning and did not return again until early evening at earliest so as long as the room is clean and the bed comfortable, we are happy. Mehr

"Buyer beware!"
We definitely wouldn’t recommend the Queen Anne. Check-in was confusing - the front gate is kept locked, and we had to call to find out that check-in (along with parking and the continental breakfast) was down the block and around the corner at a sister hotel. We were put in a TINY room on the first floor, just beside the front door, that didn’t even […] come close to approximating any of the photos on the website: we actually had to laugh, as the first image when you opened the door was a little refrigerator with a coffee machine on top; across from it, the old TV was perched on top of a 4 to 5 foot chest of drawers. There was one chair in the room, which we had to move in front of the door to have access to the bed. While you have to give management credit for trying to maintain an old house, they weren’t doing a very good job. The window frame was separating from the wall, which let a fair amount of cool air in (we tried to stuff some newspaper in the crack). Because it was so cold, we ran the heater full blast - which, on the bright side, canceled out the noise from the front door and the folks in the room above us. Given the other reviews, we suspect that the Queen Anne may have several very nice rooms…..and one or two real dogs that they rent out to people who won’t complain. We think you run a bit of a risk that you’re going to get one of the dogs. That, with the inconvenience of check-in and parking, and the fact that the location is sort of the on the edge of the Garden District, causes us to give the hotel a poor rating. Mehr
I am sorry if she found check in confusing. Not only on the Hotels.com/Expedia.com confirmation letters all their guest receive, but on the front gate, it advises check in around the corner at the Main hotel. I suppose they did not read over their confirmaton completely. The Front Gate is always locked for security. The electronic locks are accessible with your room key once you are registered. The guest should have realized that once they saw the gate, and I would think they would appreciate the security feature. But to the crux of her issue was brought to our attention when she left the comment card stating this room should be used as a "last resort". Well, it was, as her reservation was just that. A last minute booking 2 days prior to arrival, and on a Saints Home Game weekend. The property was sold out otherwise. The mansion only has 12 rooms. room. Yes, it is small, but quite charming. We call it our "honeymoon" room, for obvious reasons. It is frilly and limited room space, however, the bathroom has a beautiful 2 person glass shower. Breakfast was open at our breakfast room directly across the street from the Queen Anne, less than a 200 foot walk. There was a sign at the Front Door that states this. Not an un-reasonable place to have breakfast. We are in the Garden District, but more specifically, the Lower Garden District. The building is quite old, nearly 112 years old. Even with the millon dollar renovation, settling of old homes on brick piers in New Orleans is a problem. We do our best to keep up with the settling problems that arise. Our carpenter was called to look at the situation for correction. I suppose this guest did not feel she received a good value in staying in a charming 19th Century Mansion and felt the ambiance of the days gone by, and for that, I am truly sorry.

"Get the full experience of New Orleans"
If you stay at the Queen Anne home on Prytania, you are getting the full uptown experience of New Orleans. It is a beautiful early 1900's home 1 block off St. Charles Ave. You get to sleep in style in this period furnished mansion. I made reservations for 2 other families and both were very satisfied with their stay. The continental breakfast was lacking […] substance, but the St. Charles Tavern had a filling breakfast. Mehr
"Queen Anne in NO"
We had a lovely stay at the Queen Anne in the Garden District of NO. The hotel was quiet, clean and beautiful. We also received very good service at checkin and the 2 times we called for directions. We walked to a great authentic Mexican restaurant called Taquero's and enjoyed very high quality, delicious food at a great price and enjoyed great conversation […] with the family who owns it. We have already recommended both to friends! Mehr
"Comfortable overall; good value"
Quaint place and good alternative to traditional hotel. Comfortable and clean and great price. Traffic noise a little bothersome (front room).
"Needs improvement"
Romantic thoughts of being in Garden District were shattered at the view of the premises and need for repairs. Not worthy of 3 stars, more like 2. Staff was friendly and offered alternates, but none any better. Would definitely stay elsewhere.
"Felt like going back in time, but with modern ammenities"
This home is in a beautiful part of the garden district, so close to the tram we never moved our car,and the architecture and decor had lots of personality. Our room was at one time the parlor complete with huge front windows, porch, garden patio, huge ceilings and doors, and fireplace. The bathroom was modern, clean, and lovely. The hostess was very […] friendly and helpful with recommendations and maps. It was easy to find and the breakfast was great. Lots of security, despite the great neighborhood. We felt completely safe. I have already recommended it to others. Mehr
