This was the best vacation ever! It is a place to go when you really want a vaction. The food is the best we ever had. We want to go again. This is not really for the party crowd.

When being seated for breakfast they did not ask for our room number. Waitress seated us, we left our purses at the table and we came back one minute later and they were gone. I lost debit cards and we also left a camera. Overall $1700 was stolen and my accounts were drained. It was a disaster. Had to walk up 41 steps to fer to my roon. No eleveator at motel ( cannpt even be considered hotel$ Electricoty and water was out one evening for approx 6 hrs. Would not compensaye me at all saying they had no lower level floors and it wasnt their fault the electric went out. Unless you speak spanish, they cannot understand. Only […] about 10% can inderstand english, but not evem good. Wi fi only in Part pf the lobby about 10 feet of space. No beautoful water. This motel is on a lagoon. Mehr

This resort is more family and couple-orientated. It is a great place to find a peaceful spot in Cancun, and has the benefits of the more crowded/busy hotels when you visit the sister resort, Royal Sunset. The staff was wonderful, and took great care of us. We were a little disappointed that we had booked a Junior Jacuzzi Suite, when they really don't […] have any. They "upgraded" us to a One-bedroom Jacuzzi Suite (which we heard happened to a few others), but the jacuzzi was outside and not very clean. We never used it and that was one reason we booked that room. Besides that, the food was ok, nothing spectacular, but we did have the option to eat at any of the four sister resorts which was great for variety. One other note- They ask you to go to a short presentation on their timeshares, but it is NOT short and it is VERY high pressure. We liked the resort enough that we will stay again, but we will not buy a timeshare. Overall, we enjoyed the fact that we could go to the beautiful beach at Royal Sunset (free transportation and all inclusive food/drinks) and then come back at night to the peaceful and relaxing Lagoon. It's never as windy or as crowded as the beach. We would recommend this resort as long as the prices is right. I would say it is a 3.5 star, but its better than many places I have stayed. Mehr

While the Sunset Lagoon is an older resort, it was still quite nice and very clean. It only offered one bar and the buffet and Italian restaurant. It was quiet and comfortable with access to the beach at the Sunset Royal by boat or shuttle. We enjoyed our stay.

The rooms were nice, but the real value was in the service and setting of the resort. The staff were great, food was delicious and drinks kept flowing. We would definitely recommend it here!

The staff will treat you great -- if you're interested in buying a timeshare. If not, and you just booked through Expedia, they will treat you like dog poop.

It is a nice place for a "spring break" getaway. The food was very good. There are several pools and they allow you to swim up to the all-inclusive bar. The hotel is directly on the beach and the grounds are well kept. Unfortunately, there are several aspects of the hotel that made the stay mediocre. Most importantly, the hotel rooms are nothing to […] write home about. Though the room was clean, the beds were hard and the room looked a good 20 years old. I expected nicer hotel rooms. I would give them 2-3 stars. The service was often slow at the restaurants. When we had a discrepancy with the cost of our stay, the hotel management was quite rude. When we arrived at the hotel after 13 hours of travelling we were immediately accosted by a "concierge" before we were allowed to have our room key. She said she wanted to explain the amenities but what she was really doing was booking a reservation for a time share presentation. We agreed just so we could get our key but told them we were not interested […] when they called the next day. Other than that, the hotel was good. The room was clean with a nice view, the staff is super-friendly and helpful and kept our linens and fridge well-stocked.The only complaints about the room are that it smelled musty and the bed was really hard. The hotel had awesome evening entertainment which we looked forward to. It was hard to find out what to do during the day because if you wanted to book a tour, they wanted to sell you a time share first, so we stayed at the resort. That was also true of the lobster dinner, spa credit and ground transportation that was advertised. We did not get any of these because we did not take the tour they were offering. All in all the hotel was very nice, but you don't get everything that is advertised. If you can deal with the sales pitch it's well worth the money for the all-inclusive benefits. Mehr

I used this hotel because I a recommendation a friend gave me that had stayed there many times before. I loved my stay there. The rooms were all suite-type rooms and the all inclusive ammenities were wonderful. The hotel had a lot for us to do, shows each night, and very helpful service when doing thinghs outside of the hotel. The food left something […] to be desired, the buffett was never really good. I would not recommend anyone to go to this hotel. I booked my honeymoon at the Sunset Lagoon and did not even recieve the same room that I saw on the online brocure. It was so bad me and my husband had to leave the day after and book another hotel.

We recently stayed at the Sunset Lagoon for a 6 day period in the middle of July. We stayed in a junior suite which looked different online compared to in person. No complaints really about the room or the cleanliness of the room. But, that is all that it is, a room. Being all-inclusive all of our food and drinks were covered, or so we thought. According […] the the website and even hotel information book, our mini-fridge was supposed to be stocked daily with water, snacks, and sodas. It wasn't. After making multiple attempts asking the front desk our final explanation was that the policy had recently changed. The staff at the resort was friendly and always smiling. Front desk could use some serious help, the woman at the VIP desk was helpful. Food was decent. I enjoyed the grill and variety of meats that they offered daily. My wife isn't as big of a fan and she had a harder time eating on a daily basis, but will speak very highly of the breakfast and bread selection they had. Be sure to take advantage of the shuttle (van/boat) to the Sunset Royal. There you get the beautiful blue water and white sand beach as well as the same food and drink at the Lagoon. Overall, it was a enjoyable experience. If you decide to stay be sure you know what you get and avoid the time share people!!!! Mehr

Front desk people couples not good service and not too nice. Waiters, waitress and cleanliness of the room are verry good service and nice.

This was a beautiful hotel and a great deal. However we (and found out several other Expedia guests) were promised a suite with two double beds and a jacuzzi but when we got there we had at suite with one king, a sofa sleeper, and no jacuzzi. The person delivering our bags to our room told us there were no rooms in the hotel with two double beds and […] a jacuzzi (not true) and the front desk told us they gave preference to members. We and the other Expedia guests were pretty stubborn but the staff were more so. The front desk service was terrible BUT the other staff were great. Food was good (except skip the Chinese buffet night!). Other guests were pretty casual (one woman was plucking chin hairs next to me at the pool--haven't seen that before!). If the front desk stepped it up A LOT and the Expedia site said we were to have a suite with a king bed and sofa sleeper we would have still stayed there--a suite at this price is very competitive still, and we wouldn't have felt cheated. Front desk staff are terribly rude (woman) and insolent (unprovoked); and except for the maids all have a bad attitude; bad service and bad everything. I would never go back nor recommend this place even if it were offered for free. We were 5; and were given only one bed. 3 of us had to sleep on a couch that was dirty and like a rock. I can go on but […] it gets frustrating when you pay in full and have to tolerate a lot of crap because they got you! Mehr

すっごく素敵なスタッフ、施設でした。いつかまたこのホテルに宿泊したいです。今回は友達と行きましたが、今度は家族や彼氏と行って見たいです。ただ、それぞれのスタッフの説明していることが、バラバラなので、少し混乱しました。英語が流暢に話せるスタッフは少ないからスペイン語の勉強を少ししておくのをお勧めします！！

Dette hotel er udemærket. Dog bliver man kraftiigt opfordret til at deltage i et salgsmøde hvor de temmelig vedholdende forsøger at sælge en time-share lejlighed. Det tager næsten 3 timer og afvisningen tog de ikke så pænt. Tag ikke imod tilbudet om en time-share.
