La Quinta Inn & Suites New Orleans Chalmette Area - New Orleans

The first night was great. The second night was bad. The toilet seat broke on the toilet and the air conditioner made a horrible noise all night without a service man on duty.

This hotel needs a thorough cleaning!! I can understand older hotel but this one needs to be dipped in bleach.

When I walked into the hotel after driving several hours from FL, there was no one at the front desk. I waited several minutes and then called out "Hello!" The front desk attendant walked out from around the corner talking on her personal cell phone. I could hear her telling the person on the phone that "some crazy person was yelling at the front desk." […] She gave me major attitude and asked if I had been waiting long. I told her that I had been waiting long enough. She said she had only been gone for a minute. I was waiting for longer that that. She gave me my key and continued to give me attitude for questions I asked that she should have told me in the first place. Like where is the elevator? Our bathroom had roaches, and trash was on the floor of our 'clean' room. I encountered more attitude and trouble with the same desk attendant when I asked her for change for the washing machine. She failed to tell me that I could get change from the drink machines, that bit I figured out on my own. Luckily, we spent more time out of the hotel than in it. We were really only there to sleep. I won't be staying at that hotel or another La Quinta ever again. I used to stay a La Quinta Inns frequently because they were inexpensive, clean, friendly service and free breakfast. But, now I am done. Mehr

If you are travelling to New Orleans on a budget, then this place is good. With that said, next time I will budget more money. The stay wasn't bad, it was just a bunch of small things that were minor nuisances. The hotel wasn't dirty, but it wasn't exactly clean, especially the rooms. It looks like everything is "half cleaned", but on a daily basis. […] Thus at first glance, stuff is shiny, but then looking closely you notice the dirt and grime caked on everywhere. Door handles were shaky and loose, faucets were even looser. Hard water stains in the toilet, sink and tub. This stuff wasn't a big deal to us,but it might be to other people. Mehr

Overall nice hotel to spend a night passing through. Staff is extremely friendly.

We stayed for 4 nights, the staff let us check in early, which was nice, but the room was dirty (we found socks under the bed). In order to get to any of the downtown sites, you have to drive a bit and pay unreasonable amounts to park. Would have been more worth it to pay more for a hotel with-in walking distance to the French Quarter. Overall a nice hotel. In a nice place. Found a can tab behind a curtain. The room was comfortable and not musty smelling. The pool was not opened, but repairs were being wrapped up. I will come back.

This hotel had a few problems - when we arrived the clerk at the front desk did not have any key cards to make keys. In trying to reach other people, including the GM she received no help at all in. No one would call her back. She finally had to go to the motel NEXT door to borrow some from them. The room itself had an incredibly bad mold and musty […] smell. This concerned us because of our small children. When we tried to get luggage cart to get our bags to the room, they had all been taken to other rooms by guests and not returned. The hotel was about fifteen minutes from downtown New Orleans, which was a plus. However, the hallway carpets were wet and had a stinch, the sheets in the bed had hair on them, and the ice machine did not work. Also, the television remote barely worked because it needed batteries, and the phone cord was so loose that it was falling out of the phone […] jack. We had to move the nightstand and put it back in just to use the phone. If all you care about is a place to sleep, then this is a place you might want to stay in. However, if you are concerned with being comfortable for the money you are spending, then please look elsewhere. Mehr

I was very disappointed in my stay. La Quinta Inn and Sujites has very nice hotels, however this location is not one of them. I had to wait to get a room when I arrived, the pool was out of order, the water only got hot for a short period of time, and finally the hotel had a smell that was less than flattering. Although, I did like the waffles.

I stayed at this hotet to be near a job interview I flew to New Oreleans for and to be close to a Wildlife Sanctuary. I would not stay there again. I put in a request for a wake up call the day of my interview and I was never called. There was no alarm clock in my room for back-up either. I was late for my interview. My bathroom faucet had leaked somehow […] onto the bathroom floor and it was not fixed during my stay. The bed was comfy and the room was clean when I arrived, except for the bathroom floor. This hotel is in need of a little love. New Orleans East is in the upper Ninth Ward and was hit by Katrina. There are no stores in the area. Staff was not knowledgeable a bout places to eat. We did find a gem of a restaurant nearby (found it on Urban Spoon called The Dish on Haynes. Excellent food and service.

3 nights without hot water 8 nights without any internet access 2 days without any maid service 1 day with partial maid service manager absent most of these days doors are insecure and keying system is faulty non-smoking room was smoky and sheets and covers had numerous burn holes exceedingly dimly lit with 40 watt bulbs towels the size of postage stamps but […] other than that Mehr

After you have used the hotel.com web site so successfully it is to bad that one clerk could ruin you whole experience. Telling us at 1;15 a.m. that we could not check in because she was doing an audit that would last 30 to 45 minutes is absurd.

This place was filthy and the staff didn't seem to care about anything. One of my worst hotel experiences ANYWHERE I've ever stayed. Batthroom was filthy, sheets were ripped, wifi was down, the pool was closed and green. The breakfast was terrible and the staff were rude and uncaring.

there was no hot water in the bathroom, how can you expect to take a bath early in the morning at around 5 or 6 am ?

I was extremely disappoints in this hotel. It was very unclean and the toilet in our room overflowed all over the floor. And when management was notified, they said maintenance was gone for the day. Our consolation was a plunger the manager offered us. We had a double bed non-smoking room and we were only offered a smoking room or a single bed room, […] which simply we could not accept. The whole hotel smelled of smoke and the breakfast area was very unsanitary. I would NOT recommend nor ever stay there again. Mehr

1. 31/2 hour wait to check in 2. no hot water for about 17 hours 3. room wasn't clean for the 1st two days 4. internet was out the whole time{3 days} 5. staff was extremely rude! 6. had to get our own towels to take a bath

The stay was close to perfect, but the service was horrible. We asked for towels three times, and even tried to find the maid's closet, but they never gave us any. So, I would only recommend this hotel if your party is 3 or less.

Its a little far from the downtown area and the 2hour traffic jam didnt help but the room was clean and very comfortable.

The staff had terrible attitude. The elevator was super slow. No hot water for 2 days. The tub wasn't draining properly. Continental breakfast ends at 9 am, not 10 am like the hotels we stayed in the past. They ran out of spoons and paper plates during breakfast. They didn't replenish toiletries when we ran out. Also, the hotel is in an area where most businesses and residences are abandoned and boarded up and lighting in parking lot was not good. Mehr

We checked in while we saw a team of repairmen entering the hotel. We weren't told of any problems at the hotel. In the morning when we didn't have any hot water in the shower we found out that the hotel had not had consistent hot water for the last 3-4 days at least! If we had been informed of this at check in we could have gone elsewhere! Instead […] we had to leave the next day unable to shower in the freezing water. At breakfast as well there were no spoons or plates available for guests! How does a hotel run out of spoons and plates! The maintenance of the hotel was horrible and even though it looked like a relatively new facility it hadn't been well maintained. Very disappointed. Mehr

I recently took a trip here for Mardi Gras. Not very far from the French Quarters great location as far as shopping/gas needs. And friendly Staff!

The hotel looked better in the pictures. Management had no knowledge of how to restart the computer for printing boarding passes. The bath towels were small, rough and old. The room smelled strange and wasn't properly cleaned. I would never stay at that particular LaQuinta Inn or recommend it to anyone.

Nice on the outside but a big let down inside. The pool was more like a swamp. Elevator was broken during the day. Foul water smell around the elevator. Hardly any food for breakfast. No OJ, limited choice, slow to re-stock. Lousy wifi connection. We will not be going back.

First time at a La Quinta; expected it to be like Motel 6 but it was way better. This one is renovated, so looks nice inside. The staff in the front were helpful. Will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Rate was a little pricey compare to the next hotels in the area. Everything was clean and nice. except the bath tub kept clogging. I had to buy a sponger myself and unclog it because the front disk did not have one. other than that. everyone was friendly and nice :)

The hotel is clean, safe, and comfortable. The surrounding area is safe and quiet. A quick and easy drive to and from the French Quarter.

Clean, comfortable, and has a decent free breakfast.

There was a fire while we were there. It was a small "burnt-popcorn" fire according to the staff. It made loud alarms go off and we had no real explanation about it or if we should evacuate. We had to go down to the first floor to investigate ourselves at around 10 at night. The telephone was disconnected or not working properly. We tried to call the […] hotel before we arrived, but we were unsuccessful. For a while we were not certain if this hotel even existed (not kidding)! When we arrived we asked them if they knew the phone wasn't working and they said that they did, but did not offer an apology or explanation. Cab drivers and food delivery people had no idea where this hotel was. This made it difficult to travel quickly or easily from or to the hotel. We had to take out our smart phone with a GPS app to show the cab driver where the hotel was. The distance from downtown New Orleans made it very expensive to get anywhere. It says it's in the chalmette area....but it technically isn't. The vending machine on our floor did not work (and there was no sign indicating this). The ice machine did not work either. I am normally not one to complain, but this hotel was awful. The only good thing I can say about it was that our rooms were clean. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Mehr

Again, this was a very pleasant visit to the Big Easy. This hotel staff is the most professional bunch of folks I've ever encountered. They are a great representative of La Quinta and the City of New Orleans. I prefer to stay at this hotel rather than any other one in New Orleans. Outstanding hotel and staff.

Very cordial and helpful staff. A very fine stay.

We were very pleased with the hotel staff and room. The cleaning service was our only issue - the maid did not replenish items well, and did not replace a broken coffee maker. The staff was very responsive to us though. The location is an easy on/off of the freeway.

This place is horrible. The staff is nice but our tv didn't work. I had to call three times to get it fixed and they barely fixed it. The bathroom is also not as clean as it should be. Also the free breakfast is a joke. I won't be staying here again

Overall, the staff was very nice at the hotel. The cookies are a nice touch. Breakfast ends at 9:00, which is a little annoying. We got down there at 8:30 and everything was pretty much gone and they didn't appear to be restocking anything. Our showers were COLD! Seriously, no hot water. I stayed in the LaQuinta in Secaucus, New Jersey and it was wonderful. The continental breakfast was by far the best that I had ever seen. The hotel was reasonable for the area and easy access to the New Jersey transit (busline) into to New York.

I liked this hotel very much. It was very clean and staff was friendly. Breakfast was also good. I stayed at this place New Year night. So for that day the price was also very good (other Hotels had Jacked up their prices very much). I just drove till french quarters from this Hotel and parked opp bourbon street for $20. So this hotel being away from […] the hot spots was no problem at all. If I visit new orleans area again, then this is the place to stay for me. Mehr
