Room was perfect, bathroom was sparkling clean and bed was firm enough to provide a good night's sleep! Parking is available onsite and breakfast was yummy!

Great hotel. Friendly service with comfortable modern rooms. The breakfast was also very good. Only downside was limited parking although underground car park 5 mins away was less than €10 for the night

Great, the Hotel was clean and the room was spacious, even though we had a double bed and single bed in the room. We got the bus from the airport to the bus station in the center, then it was a 10/15 minute walk to the hotel, we followed google map and it was easy to find.

We will absolutely return. A very well executed modernisation of an old building. Brilliant way to use an arboritum to separate the carpark from the common area/reception. Very quiet but within 5 minutes from the bustling of the centre. The bed was of exceptional quality. The staff was efficient but not ingratiatingly so.

Excellent hotel with very friendly/helpful staff. Superb location being very central to the town yet on a quiet road. Rooms very clean and comfortable with good bathroom and air con. We only stayed at this hotel for two nights but it was a very good choice. Good location with restaurants close by. The staff were very friendly and spoke very good english and were very helpful. The breakfast was excellent value for money. I would not have any hesitation in recommending this hotel to any of my family or friends and would stay at this […] hotel for more than a few days if we were to visit La Rochelle again. Mehr

A pleasant hotel, well located, with friendly staff. Parking available but needs to be reserved beforehand. Our room was on the front of the hotel overlooking a small square on a Saturday evening, and we were kept awake by people talking outside until the early hours - if you need your sleep, it might be better to be based away from the square. The hotel is easy to find with a sat nav but may be a little more difficult with a map. It is in a very central location so you can easily walk around and enjoy beautiful La Rochelle. There is a square opposite the hotel with two very pleasant typical French bars that serve food if required.

We were early arriving and the hotel had been full the night before so, not surprisingly, our room was not ready. The receptionist told us when it would be ready and stowed our luggage so that we could make use of the time by exploring. The hotel is brilliantly located and the town and port are all within walking distance. Our room was ready when we […] returned and it was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. The shutters at the window closed effortlessly and made the room very dark so you could lie in if you wanted to! Our room overlooked the rear of the hotel and was exceptionally quiet. We only ate the buffet style breakfast in the hotel on our last morning but it was good value if you have a big appetite! We would thoroughly recommend the hotel to anyone - it was a lovely relaxing break. Mehr

This is a good quality, clean and friendly hotel just five minutes gentle amble from the Old Harbour. The room was quite adequate - enough space for two, with opening windows and overlooking the central courtyard area. We did not eat in (breakfast seemed expensive and there are lots of places to get a coffee and croissant nearby), but walking through […] the breakfast area everyone seemed happy enough! The reception staff were helpful (researching where we could buy a charger for a laptop, for example). It's worth booking a car space (if you are driving) as local parking looked to be a nightmare and the car park was full. Finding it was something of a challenge, and if in a car you need to stop in the "loading bay" outside and check in at Reception in order to get access to the car park (or follow an existing guest into the car park, as we did!). The hotel was extremely well positioned for access to old town, harbour, bus station and railway station. The staff were very friendly - no fuss on check in, no requirement for passports etc. The room was very quiet as it was at the back of the hotel (longer stay guests benefit from this), breakfast was adequate with a fairly good selection although […] the toaster did break down and was not replaced very quickly. Very easy to find and conveniently located close to the town centre. Made to feel very welcome and our room was perfect in all respects (except the French don't tend to provide tea and coffee making facilities in hotel rooms). The complimentary WiFi worked well. However there was no dining room but that didn't matter being so close to the town and the […] hotel had also thoughtfully provided umbrellas for guests walking into town. There is a bar where coffee can be purchased and this was a welome nightcap on returning from dinner in the town. The underground car park was very handy for securing the motorbike. There are two computers […] with free internet service in the lobby for guests. There is a modern elevator. The neighbourhood has character and is essentially next to the port. You can easily walk to everything in central La Rochelle - many, many restaurants, museums, an excellent aquarium and other attractions - don't miss the 3 tower museums. There is a coin laundromat a block from the hotel. We walked to and from the hotel from the train station - about 4 blocks. In the port there are ferries and boat services that can take you on cruises to nearby islands or to see Fort Boyard, although they are seasonal and stop operating after October. Mehr

A most pleasant experience. A very nice comfortable hotel which is very good value for money. Helpful, friendly staff and very clean. The hotel is centrally positioned and there's a super wine bar round the corner!

We were delighted with the St Nicolas: the staff were friendly and very efficient, both front of house and chamber staff. Location was ideal, in an historic and picturesque quarter, very close to the main harbour but much quieter and more civilized than the absolute centre - we are of advancing years and do not like long walks between hotel and attractions, […] and it suited us perfectly. Decor was modern and attractive; room very quiet thanks to excellent double glazing and quiet yet effective air con. Room and bathroom were kept spotless. Both were small, but bed was a large double and comfortable. Nice breakfasts and lounge area with free internet via two computer terminals and free newspapers. Staff were very helpful and understanding when we sufferd an unfortunate medical emergency . Mehr

Very pleasant, conveniently situated with friendly, helpful staff. Good air conditioned rooms. Buffet style breakfast (10 euro) available at the hotel.

The room was very clean and the interior design was thoughtful and attractive. For me, the major downside was their attitude which I found was penny pinching, unfriendly and superior. I won't go into details but I would not recommend it to a friend.

Excellent location. Close to the Port. Spotlessly clean. Room small but bed comfortable. Parking awkward because we didn't know we had to reserve in advance. Supervised Parking near enough but closes at 9pm. Friendly staff. Overall, highly recommended.

Great location 1 minute from the port with all its restaurants & bars etc. Good value for the hotel quality & location. Only 1 word of warning - if you're arriving by car make sure you get street-by-street directions as it took us an hour to drive to the hotel from the outskirts about 2 miles away due to all the one-way streets, no entry roads etc. […] ! Booked based on previous review comments and was not disappointed. Pleasant helpfull welcome. Good room. Nice public areas. Great location with easy short walk to harbour areas. Good breakfast buffet. I would recommend this place to anyone. Don't be fooled by the star rating. This place was a great find.

Très joli hôtel , mais un accueil froid et distant . La chambre un peu petite pour le tarif . Sinon , une propreté irréprochable, malgré des rideaux qui mériteraient être changés.
