Homestead Washington, D.C. - Reston - Reston

I was in the area for a couple of days and selected this HomeWood because of the brand reputation and convenience of the location. Not completely satisfied, compared to other HomeWood hotels I've stayed at, but it wasn't the worst hotel I've visited either. Expect a SLOW internet connection, unless you pay for an upgrade. Terrific Staff, helpful with every need

The staff is what makes this hotel a standout. If you want glitz and glamour, go elsewhere - but I'll choose a great staff any time. And this staff is always so professional, so calm, so welcoming, that it makes our stay a delight.

It wasn't bad for the buck, but was hoping to find clean floors and better bed.

Needed a smoking room in Reston and Homestead had room availability. Was only staying four days total and did not use studio as much as I could, but was very convenient to have a fridge and coffee maker (not KRUP). Also wanted walking distance to my business location and this hotel was close (10 minute walk), but lack of convenient sidewalks in the […] area had me finding ‘back’ routes. Room was clean and did no reek of cigs, people were very friendly and helpful (especially late afternoon help). Overall I have had good experience with the Extended-Stay chains (stay there frequently in LB, CA) and this time did not disappoint – highly recommended Mehr

Rooms smelled like smoke, even non-smoking. Definitely not a suite! Was not thrilled and was happy it was only for a night!

Stayed at this hotel while attending a professional conference held at another hotel with a price tag beyond our institution's budget. The hotel was in walking distance to the conference hotel and downtown Reston; we walked the bike trail just behind the hotel which was clean, safe and less than a mile to town. A kitchennette, microwave, full fridge […] and dishes were available. Unfortunately, we did not find any grocery stores nearby and did not have a car with us. There are a number of restaurants however, and it is a quick walk to the the bus stop. Mehr

This hotel is so outdated. The rooms looked very old and i didn't even want to take a shower it looked so disgusting and the bedspread looked like it was from 1985. The hotel is a two flight hotel, however there is no elevator so i had to lug my heavy suitcase up a flight of stairs..

Simple business person's hotel for short or overnight stays. Room came with a kitchen that was useless. I'd rather have a desk instead. I would never bring a date or family here. Biggest problem is the grime on the phone and in the tub. Some shower tiles grout was black. Yuck. And the phone needed 2 minutes of attention with a simple cleaner.

Wednesday evening the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate for 20 minutes into the freezing cold. The cleaning crew was loud at first light of day. There were noises relevant to the utilities that were rather obnoxious.

Good location, restaurants/fast food within walking distance, and a YMCA next door (I think the hotel provides free guest passes). The kitchenette was nice. It was really cold in the room and when I asked for a blanket the hotel staff brought me a brand new thermal blanket within minutes. However, when I entered the room there was a big dead spider […] on the floor! The rest of the room was clean (and has always been in past experiences) so I guessed/hoped it was an anomaly. This place is basically a motel. You hear everyone walking by outside, from their cars to their room. There were gaps around the door so cold air was seeping in and the aged heating unit was barely able to keep the room at comfortable temperature. Not until I filled the gaps with paper and plastic bags was I able to keep the temperature bearable. The […] bath tub had a weird non-slip sheet that had slimy glue leaking around the edges. Kind of sick looking. Other than that, the room was clean and the convenience of a full kitchen was a nice touch. It was the cheapest hotel in the area, and it showed why. Mehr

The first room had not been cleaned, so I was assigned to a new room. The room was dirty, it smelled and everywhere I looked there was a build-up of grime. The bed was uncomfortable and I didn't even have service the next day - so no clean towels or coffee replacement.

Nice accomodations for the price. Kitchen facilities were very useful and complete. A maintanance issue regarding a leak in the bathroom sink arose but was addressed quickly by staff upon notification. Really liked the complimentary admission to the nearby YMCA athletic facilities.

Key to the room didn't unlock the first time. When it unlocked the door there were suitcases inside. The attendant, however, was very helpful & attentive. He said he would talk to the manager and then helped bring my suitcase upstairs & gave me a suite instead. The location is awesome. They say that the staff is what makes a great hotel, and this staff is top drawer. Tilma Ramos at the front desk is exceptional. Her effortless efficiency, knowledge, helpfulness, warmth, and professionalism is equal to any five-star hotel staff, and above most. Each staff member here is head-and-shoulders above thir counterparts elsewhere. Within […] a minute's walk of two restaurants and a five-minute drive of dozens more, along with the proximity of shopping and cultural activities, the location is great. The room was spacious, scrupulously clean, and comfortable. I have recommended this hotel to my closest friends and business associates and have no doubt they will be as charmed by the staff, and as satisfied with the value, as I am. Mehr

Convenient access to corporate office parks in Reston area, but hotel rooms were not clean; second floor rooms were only accessible by stairs (no elevator for heavy suit cases)

I have been staying here for years - it isn't fancy and it could be a little cleaner, but for the area it is a good deal and it provides an extended stay room for less than standard rooms in the region.
