good location, cheap hotel, 2 to 3 star

There's very little service, as this is a long term residence hotel. But we didn't care. The location was great and the price excellent.

This hotel was just one block from the Plaza. The rooms were good sized and clean. We were pleased with our stay here.

Price is great for the location - but remember, you get what you pay for. The property is showing age and there does not appear to be commitment to upgrades. Front desk friendly and helpful. Manager very responsive to guest issues. Housekeeping for my last stay was not up to minimum standards but complaint was addressed immediately by staff and management. […] Would stay again - mainly for price. We went to the Mizzou Kansas footballgame. The proximity to Country Club Plaza allowed for some interesting shopping and dining.

Had a last minute guest in from out of town that needed lodging for the night. Found this one which is very convenient to my home as well as our activities. Room was much bigger than I anticipated and seemed very cozy. Lightbulb was missing from the lamp in the room, but the front desk took care of that asap. The Homestead was very "worn". The room, lobby and hallways showed heavy wear and tear. Much more than I would expect at this price. Our 5 night reservation ended up only being a single night. We transfered to another area hotel.

Overall, the hotel was comfortable, convenient and the room was clean. There was a young woman working at the front desk who was very helpful with directions, supplies and suggestions for ease of travel. She was very pleasant. She worked the afternoon and evening shift while I was there. The only "downside" to my visit was the smoking rooms and non […] smoking rooms were too close together. I smelled cigarette smoke in my room. It was particularly noticeable late at night early in the morning. Mehr

Amenities are basic, like other extended stay hotels. No breakfast, no little shampoo bottles, no daily housekeeping, no pool. But all the essential stuff was there, it was clean, and near to the plaza for restaurants .

This hotel is in a good location they need better maintenance and upkeep as I had to switch rooms twice in the four nights I was there because of things being broken like the ac and fridge. Food went bad because of their fridge and they offered no compensation for it at all. Rooms are clean and comfortable for the most part.

Hotel is quite dirty particaluarly the carpets in and out of the room are severely stained throughout the hotel. The entire hotel smeels very stongly of cigarette smoke. I opened the door to my room and a cockroach ran across the counter. I will not stay here again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Very dirty, squeeky bed, shower had no pressure, squeeky a/c, had a horrible night, checked out at 0630.

I enjoyed my stay, the room was clean and a safe neighborhood. I will stay there again.

I was needing a convenient hotel room at a reasonable price and this hotel fit that description. I absolutely would not have my significant other stay at this hotel. The room was dirty, old food stains all over the kitchenette and the shower was not as clean as I would like. The hotel is close to the Plaza and generally a nice hotel with friendly employee's and nice rooms. However, I paid for wireless access and it failed to ever work.

NO hair dryer

Great place to stay if you are going to the Country Club Plaza, Crowne Center, and Westport. Easy to find on Main Street and for the price and convenience, it was perfect.

Disappointed since the hotel did not look like the picture nor would I say it was "Country Club". The room was ok...the shower handle was broken and the toilet sounded like it was on it's last leg. For the price it was OK.

My niece recommended Homestead Suites--KC Plaza--based on the experience of her two siblings and that of friends visiting KC. She was very much on target! The room was clean and quiet. The staff was helpful. The location is great--right on the Plaza within walking distance of many Plaza amenities. That's the bottom line. The beds SQWEEK and were uncomfortable. The hallway to our non-smoking room was heavy with smoke smell. Even though the actual room didn't smell smoky, the whole room had an eeew - icky feel. There were no tissues, the glasses were circa 1980 in the cupboard - No telling when they were sterilized last. It just was not a clean/quality […] place. I'll never stay at a Homestead place again. The location is good, but Marriott and Embassy are closeby. Stay there instead. Mehr

Hotel was dated and appliances/bathroom fixtures showed their age. The front desk personnel was great and very helpful. Air conditioner was very noisy.

This is meant to be an extended-stay hotel, so no amenities are supplied. You have to ask for shampoo (they only have "conditioning shampoo," not separate shampoo and conditioner) and a hair dryer. I woke up with bites on my thigh--I'm not sure if they were bedbugs, but there is some kind of animal living in the sheets. The comforter also didn't appear […] to have been washed. We stayed in this hotel by accident-- our reservation at a 3-star hotel fell through and this was the only one available--so maybe it's a normal 2-star hotel and it only seemed so awful by comparison. But I would definitely not stay here again. Mehr

I chose this hotel when I went to Kansas City for a wedding primarily because it was the cheapest option in Crown Plaza. I was so pleased with the location (it is only a few blocks from the very center of Crown Plaza). Also, the staff at the hotel were all wonderful! They were extremely helpful and charming. We took an overnight trip to KC and chose this hotel solely based on price as we waited until the day before departure to book anything. The price was right and we had fairly low expectations. Those expectations were met. The room is dated and amentities are only available if you ask. It was fine for an overnight--probably wouldn't choose it for more […] than just one night. Room seemed fine upom entry, until somethng dropped on the floor and upon retrieval, 2 dirty used soda cans were found under the bedside table. After showering, my fiance had to manually plunge the tub to make it drain. Other than these two dirty, disturbing facts, the stay was quite pleasant.

Clearly intended as a longer-stay facility, it wasn't the best option for a one-night stay. Front desk closes at 11:00. On a 10-day cross country trip staying at a different hotel each night, this was the only property that charged extra for wi-fi. One benefit for us was the on-site coin laundry.

Very nice, especially for an extended stay. Convenient to downtown attractions, even considering the interminable M/DOT construction

Overall lower quality than other Homestead Suites. Previous customer's trash had been left in our room, hotel desk clerk was hard to contact, by phone or in person, nickel and dimed for everything - even changing sheets, towels, and emptying trash.

Excellent location - within walking distance of the beautiful Country Club Plaza area. Clean, comfortable room with kitchenette. Great coffee. Quiet area. Great place to stay.

The hotel is ok, and I was pleasantly surprised with a little kitchen in the room. The room was clean. The main door to the room wouldn't lock, which is a little disconcerting. I was too tired to change rooms, but definitely a problem. Location is perfect. Bed was noisy and not the most comfortable I've been in. Shower ok, but not great.

the hotel was a good location from the bars downtown and westport. It also wasn't far from the baseball/football stadium. it's a convenient room for mulitple people to stay in plus it has a full frig and a microwave. i would definitely stay there again.

I visited in May for 3 nights with my 2 daughters. There's plenty of room for luggage and a playyard. We had a full kitchen supplied with dishes, cookware and towels, the front desk supplies dish soap. All amenities need to be requested from the front desk, they are not left in the room. My only issues with the room were 2 things: 1. the cookware was […] not a non-stick surface, so there was residue from burnt on food from a previous user. I did not use that pan, as i couldn't get it off without some steel wool or something. 2. One foot of the bed was broken and unstable and needed to be adjusted multiple times to keep the bed level. So, overall we had a good stay. If our a/c wasn't running I'm sure we could hear other people, but since it was on the majority of the time (and working well, btw) we had no noise problems. Mehr

Good hotel for price. If you are looking for plush - thsi is not your place or your price. If you are looking for convenience to the Plaza area at an affordable price thsi is it. You can also pretty easily get to to the royals games from here. The staff was very good and helpful

Nice cheap place to stay. Walking distance to Plaza. Also close to Mill Creek Park where you can walk or run. I would recommend it - nothing fancy - just a clean, quiet place to stay.

Location was exactly what I was looking for and the price was reasonable and less than other hotels nearby. But it's pretty spartan. I can't really recall the last time I stayed at a hotel that didn't have a hairdryer in the room and didn't have any amenities --as basic as such as shampoo!
