Excellent hotel. Only criticism was the size of our room. It was too small!

Lovely sophisticated hotel with relaxed ambience and attentive and friendly staff -- you felt you were at home without any of the daily chores -- wonderful location to central DC

Gorgeous hotel, It felt like staying at someone's mansion. Beautifully decorated at Christmas time. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Bathroom immaculate. Service exquisite. Couldn't have been more pleased!!! The entire hotel staff was friendly and accommodating, the room was great, in walking distance of everything, you never left your room without bathroom towels and supplies being replaced, slippers and robe ready when you returned for the evening, etc…. Lovely hotel but not really 5 stars-- decorating is very pretty but the staff service is not up to par. Room service menu is very limited and you can't order off their restaurant menu for delivery to room.

A wonderful hotel elegant hotel, a little like your rich uncle's house! great service, nice staff and generally nice atmosphere. I found the breakfast prices a little steep when they add delivers, service and taxes, it becomes more like the prices for lunch then just breakfast.

Pleasant and attentive staff. The room is very comfortable with a bed so soft you don't want to leave! Decor is very tasteful and typically "Washingtonian" class. A bit inconvenient having to call and wait for room service daily for everything (ie, bucket of ice, etc). They respond in about 45 minutes, and sometimes you have to call twice! Staff did […] confuse us with another guest room once and woke us up at 6 am by mistake, but they did apologize. No views from rooms, but location is very convenient, especially being 2 blocks from Metro and 4 blocks to Dupont Circle. I would rate 4.5 out of 5 stars. Mehr

This is obviously a very nice hotel and the hotels.com rate allows us more frugal types an entry point. The architectural nooks of the hotel are delightful if you use them. If you're just going to walk by everything without taking the time then I wouldn't spend the money to stay here - you can always walk in and have a look and get a drink at the bar. The […] bar (Quill) by the way is excellent with great ambiance and crafted cocktails. Being so great, they don't come cheap. As I said - if you go, go big. The room we were given was next to the elevator and was without view. In fact, they apply a fancy film cover to the window precisely so you can't see what's outside your window, which are ducts from the adjacent roof. That said, the hotel is only four floors, so I doubt there's much of a city view to be had out of any of the rooms. The bed is very comfortable and the shower is the best you'll ever find in the world. You'd think that's not a big deal, but when you've been walking around DC all day it really is. We ate a Plume and it was one of the best restaurant experiences we've ever had, although they obviously set us in a tucked-away corner away from the more famous architectural elements that the restaurant is known for. If you make a reservation, be sure to specify your desired location. Regardless, we greatly enjoyed our meal and payed mightily for it. If you go, go big. We showed up in a SuperShuttle and felt very out of place. We really should have taken the town car. If you go, go big. We showed up for breakfast prior to our outgoing flight and didn't get the impression we were highly welcome in our plane-ready attire. If you go, go big - and dress nice. The metro is not very close to the hotel - a few blocks away and the city blocks in DC are rather large. Plan on walking or having personal transportation available. I just completed a four-day stay at The Jefferson in Washington DC.The service by each and every member of the staff, Including the door man, front desk, the concierge and the restaurant and bar was exceptional. The room and all the amenities were also exceptional. A five-star hotel.

The hotel is just up the road from the white house. And there is a metro station 2 blocks away which doesn't even take 5mins to get too. You can walk to all the sites from the hotel and if you don't like walking just hop on the metro. The staffs are very friendly and the rooms are very clean. We did not eat at the hotel as it can be very expensive but […] that didn’t bother me as there are a lot of places around. Mehr

Quite unexpectedly, we were upgraded to a suite and luxuriated in every comfort for the next five days. The hotel deserves every accolade for all its very professional and friendly staff and particularly, Chris, the Conciere, who did everything possible to make our visit comfortable. Great hotel. Unbelievable service and staff. Only negative is the room was "way" too hot at night. Temperature in the room would not go below 69 degrees -- no air circulation at all. There is no chair in the standard room to relax at night -- it's either the writing chair or the bed -- tough on a business traveler staying a week.

From arrival to departure, my stay at The Jefferson was exceptional. The staff were altogether gracious, friendly, and professional - from doorman to reception, from wait staff to housekeepers. It's often difficult to find all these qualities in a hotel experience. The hotel itself is lovely, beautifully restored and tastefully furnished. And the meals […] that I enjoyed there were quite delicious. A tip of the hat to management - they clearly know how to deliver a supurb experience. My wife and I just recently stayed at Jefferson for nine days. Most of the staff are very courteous and well attentive. Had problem with waitress in bar several times. Not were she should work. But everyone else were great. Very small rooms for the price. Should have put queen bed instead of king in the room we were in.

A group of 3 couples recently stayed at the Jefferson while attending the US Golf Open. The hotel was beautiful, the location perfect, and the staff awesome. We ate (and drank) outside at the Quill bar and had breakfast in The Greenhouse all of which was delicious. We would definitely stay there again.

This is a 5 star hotel in a 5 star location. The service is superb, friendly and accommodating. Great neighbourhood within easy walking distance to the monuments and easily accesible to the Metro for those who prefer not to walk. Highly recommend it. I would definitely book it again on my return trip to Washington.

Fabulous. Perfect for historical Washington but with all the modern touches.

I recently spent 4 days in DC and stayed at the Jefferson. My room was "premier" and beautifully furnished altho a little small compared to rooms in the big chains. It was well placed for doing the tourist thing being close to the regular spots and also Dupont circle. Only down side was the closeness of the service elevator to my room and the banging […] of doors as service was being performed. It took going through an uncomfortable night in an unacceptable room before we were moved to an attractive room. The first room we were shown was small and felt claustrophobic and the second we ultimately accepted turned out to be noisy and not comfortable for two people. Only after a complaint after that bad first night were we given a room that had […] been available when we checked in. After that first night we had a very enjoyable stay. Mehr

The Jefferson is an excellent choice for a stay in Washington, D.C. The staff was friendly and very accomodating. When we arrived 6 hours after our expected arrival time, and 2 hours after our reservation for dinner across town, the staff got us in at the hotel restaurant - Plume - for a late dinner (which was exceptional). The White House and Lafayette […] Park are 5 blocks away straight down 16th, and the Capitol, National Mall and most main sites are about 10 minutes away by cab. Rooms are a touch on the small side, but they are comfortable and very clean. Mehr

The hotel looked great, the staff was polite, the suite I stayed in was comfortable, but service left something to be desired. The room was not ready when I arrived at 5 PM. The concierge was not able to get me tickets to a play ("it is sold out"), but I was able to call the box office and get them myself. Hotel Decor is very nice but the atmosphere is quite stuffy, I think this hotel is suited to older business travellers than tourists so for that reason i wouldn't stay here again.

I stayed in a suite, and the bedroom and bathroom were great, but the living room area was terrible. The sofa felt like you were sitting on a pile of bricks and the TV was shoved in the corner making it hard to view. Not a good set-up for a business traveller who wants a comfortable set-up. The service and public areas were above and beyond my expectations. We were called by name and our every wish was catered to. However, our room was minute - NY hotel rooms are more spacious. We had to take turns getting into the wardrobe and there was no chair to relax and watch TV - only the desk chair which was nice, but was in front of the closet, […] so the TV viewer had to move while someone was getting dressed. We stayed at The Jefferson for one night and loved it. The decor is an interesting combination of old world and modern, and we thought it was beautiful. The bed was comfortable and we didn't hear too much street noise because we were on the 4th floor. The bathroom was lovely and spacious, and I particularly enjoyed the two windows that let light into […] the bathroom (with privacy sheers you can use while bathing). We did order room service, but they had to keep calling us back to confirm different parts of our order (and they ended up being out of the dessert I wanted), so it seems like some service kinks still need to be worked out. I thought the food was only okay (tomato soup way too salty). Although the fries my husband had with his burger were delicious, and my chicken was nicely roasted, I didn't think the high prices were worth the quality of the food we received. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay and would go back. Mehr

Gorgeous hotel, friendly service, comfortable room, would highly recommend it!!

Our stay at the Jefferson was fantastic. It is in walking distance from anything and everything you want to do in D.C. really. The room was incredible and the bed was so comfortable. The first morning there was a little too much noise from the trucks in the alley but since we were there over the weekend, it didn't bother us after that. The view from […] the room was very lacking but since we were there really to sleep only, it wasn't a drawback for us because the room was so lush and the bed was incredible. Everything is newly rennovated so there are all the comforts and more of home. One afternoon we were locked out of our room but the manager took care of it right away, called the engineer and gave us drinks in the really fantastic bar while we waited.
