BEST WESTERN OLD COLONY INN - Alexandria

It is a good place to stay in the area if you have a car. It's not close to the metro stops and takes a few bus trips to connect to the regional transit system

The hotel is an ideal base for visiting the DC area. We didn't have a car so the shuttle to the metro and the old town area of Alexandria was a great help. The decor of the hotel is a bit old fashioned but the rooms were comfortable with a good selection for breakfast. The free coffee and snacks were nice to have when coming in late.

Liked the location, helpful staff and the snacks so we didn't have to go out at night if we were hungry from our busy day and too tired to fight for a parking space in old town.

Easy access from the DC Beltway; about a 10 minute walk to Old Town Alexandria. The room was clean and comfortable with free hot breakfast and kitchen with free soda, water, ice cream, etc. Very reasonable rate for the area.

the air conditioning in the first room didn't work, they immediately moved me to a replacement room and ensured the a/c worked in that one. Gave excellent suggestions for meals in the neighbourhood.

Female manager (think it was Shauna) was very helpful and friendly. She offered to take me to the closest train station and dropped me off on time to meet my colleague for our work appointment. I really appreaciated that. Annette

the hotel had a very friendly, and helpful staff. shuttle would take you to the metro or downtown Old Alexandria. they also offered a nice kitchen on the second floor wit microwave, refrigorator and stocked with food and beverages. it made you feel like home, I would recomend this hotel.

While not super-convenient to Old Town (long walk or short drive), the hotel was very clean and comfortable. Decent full breakfast, with hot food as well as cereal and various toasting things. They also have a snack room, well-stocked with pop, water, juice, and tons of different snacks. Everything is free, and you can grab something on your way out […] sightseeing or to refuel when you get back later in the day. The hotel has a peculiar layout, with lots of stairs and no obvious elevator, so if you need handicapped access or are a heavy packer, request a room on the first floor. We arrived well before check in, but the front desk staff was quick about making sure our room was ready for us. We had no problems with noise, either from other guests or the neighborhood. Also, free parking! They also have a shuttle bus to the Metro and other local areas, but we did not use it. Mehr

excellent reception, nice shuttle service and nice drivers, good breakfast. overall if you ar looking for 5star hotel and paying $20 for internet dont saty at this place, they have nice clean place, not a 5 star but 5 star crew, free internet, free shuttle service, free breakfast, very comfortable beds.

Charmin, quiet facility, with easy approach from all directions, especially from the airport. Convenient to historic sites in Washington, Old Town Alexandria, and Mt. Vernon. Convenient to restaurants and shoppes. Plenty of free parking.

We were in DC for a Bowl Game. Loved the location of the hotel. Price was great and parking was free!!! Everything was great. The free snack kitchen was excellent. Loved the free breakfast in the morning. The staff was very nice. The shuttle service was outstanding. We could ride to dinner, call the hotel and they would come and pick us up. Very close […] to the Metro. Would stay there again if in the DC area. Mehr

We had a great weekend--we were attending a wedding. We found the price very reasonable, the city was lovely, and even though there were three of us we were not overly crowded. We would use the hotel again.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise! A little hard to figure out how to get into the lot, but after one trip past it was very easy to find again. We weren't really expecting much, due to the great price that we got this room, BUT this turned out to be our favorite place all week! The lady at the front desk was very nice and helped with any questions […] we had. The room was GREAT! Beds were very comfortable! And the best part about this hotel is their complimentary snack room! This room is equipped like a small kitchen. In the refrigerator was cold soft drinks and water....the freezer had ice cream bars....each of the cabinet doors was labeled with what was inside, soup packets, cereal bars, popcorn, etc.....it had a microwave, sink, and nice big coffee machine! All FREE of charge! How nice this was to be able to get a cold drink without digging out $1.50 for a can of soda! Kuddos to them for this addition!!!! And too bad that others could not start this as well! The location was close enough to walk to Old Town Alexandria and enjoy all it has to offer. Would definately stay here again! Mehr

I was expecting more from a hotel in the DC area though I shouldn't have been surprised given it was a Best Western. This is a great hotel for people traveling with kids since they offer free breakfast, shuttle service and the staff was very nice and professional. The rooms were clean though very outdated (as is the entire hotel) . No toiletries were […] included and the beds were only doubles and rather uncomfortable, but for one night it wasn't bad. Overall, if I was travling to DC with kids I would stay here but not as a business traveler who expects certain amenities when staying at a hotel, even if its just for one night. Mehr

The staff and rooms were great and will definately stay there again. The Snack Kitchen was great, complimentary drinks and snacks.

Un buen hotel: buen servicio, el snack room es lo máximo (salvaron nuestra cena! no teniamos nada que comer porque ya era tarde y las sopas instantaneas nos salvaron), shuttle al centro de la ciudad o al metro. Muy conveniente para ir a Washington ( el shuttle del hotel te deja en la estacion y solo hay que tomar el metro que es muy sencillo y a pocos […] minutos) Lo unico malo fue que no tiene Wi-fi!! pero igual pudimos conectarnos a internet a traves de su sala de negocios (solo una computadora con impresora, libre para imprimir lo que necesiten) Muy importante: el shuttle solo da servicio hasta las 8:45pm, si van a regresar mas tarde tomen en cuenta que deben caminar unos 15-20 minutos desde la estacion y las calles son bien solitarias. La opcion del taxi es al azar ya que no pasa casi ninguno (tambien hay un bus pero no sabiamos como usarlo) En general muy buen hotel. La ciudad tal vez demasiado tranquila. Mehr

Excellente solution pour se loger près de Washington à Alexandria. On rejoint le centre de Washington DC en quelques minutes de métro. Navette de l'hôtel pour rejoindre le métro à 1 mile (on peut aussi y aller à pied, même si ça semble curieux aux américains). La patrone nous a même proposé une fois de nous amener au métro avec sa voiture. Hôtel avec […] une belle architecture en brique. Excellent petit-déjeuner. Proche du centre d'Alexandria qui est une ville très agréable avec quantité de restau et un beau front de mer. Mehr

Passer fint efter ankomst til IAD - når man skal have første overnatning - hvis vejen går sydpå. Gode spisesteder er 15 USD i taxi. Hotellet har også shuttle, som kørte os til downtown om aftenen.
