There were only a few TV stations and no internet, it felt like 1975.

I was disappointed that the restaurant was no longer open, though there were. Still menus posted in the lobbies. there was a buffet breakfast but nothing else. I had wanted to go to breakfast and order what I wanted.

My friend found a bug on her pillow. I discounted her belief that it was a bedbug and slept "peacefully" on the extremely hard mattress for two nights. It has been 2 nights since my stay at Hotel AZ and I've found multiple little bites all over the parts of my body that touch the mattress when I sleep. The towels smelled like burnt caramel. Internet […] access was inconsistent. Continental breakfast consisted of rotted apples, old bananas, overcooked eggs and bacon.. Not impressive at all. Mehr

I would not recommend staying here. They also charge you $8/day to park. Very old and dirty. Breakfast was very marginal at best.

This hotel has gone downhill quickly. I stayed here in the summer of 2010 and was pleased with the visit. Upon returning in the spring of 2012 I found the hotel dirty, run down, and probably a fire trap. The kitchen was no longer in service so there was just a cheap breakfast provided, the rooms smelled of smoke, though the place was non-smoking, and […] the room I had was near an air conditioner vent or something so it sounded like a jet turbine was right outside my room all day and all night. This was our first time in Tuscon. The staff acted like they were being bothered by our questions like directions and hotel services. Half the doors were closed and just the walking around to find another opened door was inconvenient. The free breakfast was horrible. I bet there were no more than 10 guests in the hotel. At night, walking through I felt […] like it was something out of The Shining. No one was even around,not even the desk clerk to ask what door now is opened. If you plan on hanging out in Tucson, this is a perfect location for walking around the cultural district and having quick access to nightlife. If you plan on drinking before a concert (I did), the Rialto is less than 1/2 mile walk down the street. a "lived-in" hotel in the middle of downtown. a convenient walk to the Rialto Theater for our concert! a convenient place to stay that has character, a monitored but tight parking ramp, decent breakfast buffet and restaurants nearby.

Adequate I suppose, maybe even a little too expensive for the quality of everything. Lady that checked us in was rude, no trash can in the room, stayed on the third floor the closest floor with a working ice machine was floor ten.

The hotel was great for our conference. The breakfast was good. The lunch they had in the lobby was good, but they did not seem to realize that a Catholic conference held on a Friday in Lent should have only non-meat foods. The same menu the next day was good. The restaurant and bar were no longer in business. I would not recommend this for anything […] other than a conference at the Convention Center. Mehr

Very nice place to stay with great location and great views.

We stayed on 11th floor, pictures online did not look like our room. Room had 2 light bulbs out, no fan in the bathroom and was dark lighting. Our TV color did not work. Only thing good about this place was the location.

The lobby is gorgeous! The hype about the hotel was wonderful. But once I got to my room it looked like sm dive hotel off the beaten path. And they didn't gv me the room I had reserved. I paid for a king and was put in a dble bc they ran out of king beds. I was very disappointed!

The hotel is obviously dated with unattractive furnishings and old stained carpeting, but the price was great, the location was great and the rooms were perfectly clean and comfortable.

We accidentally spilled a large amount of ice and water on the floor outside of the elevator on our floor. It was about 9pm. There was NO one available to help clean it up. I used towels and my hands to get it all up so no one would get hurt. The elevators have hand prints of dirt and a red substance on them. The bathroom is tiny. The bar isn't open. […] The parking garage has TINY ramps and are scary to drive up unless your in a golf cart sized car, and you have to pay for it. The room was fairly clean, the beds weren't too bad after a long night down town. The only thing this hotel has going for it is it's location and convinience. Mehr

This property is a good value. I had a corner room with a good view. The room was large and clean. You can't beat the breakfast which is included with the room. I'll stay there again.

well if you want to be close to the convention center this is great for location if you don't care about smells, outdated hotels. our room was put together nicely but the room had a mold/musk smell, my friend said her bed smelled like smoke (non smoking room) the shower only worked on hard massage setting otherwise the water was spraying everywhere. […] we got up the next morning for our "free" breakfast. it was something yellow called "eggs" and pancakes, some juice, milk , toast and some cereal. it was so gross, for a lot of money a night we expected more. our flight got canceled and we booked a room at the Hampton inn for less then half of what we just paid a night it was 100% better then the Hotel Arizona, great breakfast and workout room, rater drive into town then stay at hotel Arizona again! A little hard to find because of blended street names but worth the hunt.

Overpriced, no bar, no restaurant, no bellhop. Many of the rooms were so bad that people left. Good location for a top quality hotel. Front desk people were friendly.

The hotel's glory days are long passed but the touches of opulence are still visible. The room was clean but the age showed. I went to a Tool concert at the Tucson Civic Center and Hotel Arizona's location was ideally close to the venue. I will stay again if TCC has another show.

The hotel is well priced for the rooms and service they provide. I booked only a one-night stay, so I did not take advantage of many of the amenities, but the room was comfortable and clean, and right in the heart of downtown. The convention center, night clubs, and great restaurants are all in walking distance. In all, a great place to stay!

The hotel is conveniently located downtown. A great location. There a few issues though. There was plaster falling from the ceiling onto the bed. No fridge. We requested a different room and after moving all of our stuff, there was no fridge in the new room either. Third time was a charm as far as the fridge goes. The main elevators were not working, […] so we had to use a service elevator that was really gross and smelly. Mehr

No working elevators, no bar, and no restaurant. Just a big, empty hotel well past its prime.

The beds were not comfortable, needs replacement. The elevators needs to be maintanence, dangerous, continues to close, needs a sensor monitors. Was not pleasent with my infant storoller being hit before we would enter or exit elevators. No eaterys available in hotel. Housekeepings services were late each morning. Do not recommend this hotel until updates/maintenance […] have been made. Mehr

This hotel leaves a lot to be desired. It got the job done; the room was clean and it is conveniently located, but the price was way too high for what I got. It was built in the 70's and from the look of it the last serious maintenance was done in the 80's. The elevators like to close on you. However, saying "elevators" is a bit of an exaggeration […] because only one of three were running. If you need to go to the 11th or 12th floor, watch your step because the elevator was about 3" shy of being level with the floor. There is a game room that was completely out of commission and if you want to trudge through a soggy hallway you will find a poorly kept laundry room. Beyond the poor maintenance there was nothing particularly good about the hotel. The bed was uncomfortable, as were the pillows. The walls are very thin and when someone shuts the door you can feel the walls shake. The bathroom is just a little too small, making you do a spin move to squeeze by the toilet when trying to close the door. The hotel entertainment system boasts the hottest N64 games and the pool area was underwhelming. The staff was not very friendly, never even attempting to hide the fact that they are bored with their job. In short stay at a Motel 6, the quality might be better, and it will be cheaper. Mehr

they have closed their restaurant and bar and the outside lighting was minimal and there were no people on the streets at night. There are no near by less than 3 block restaurants.

Hotel elevators not working, had to walk down from sixth floor to lobby twice. Restaurant not open while four day stay there, neither was the bar. The $8.00 charge for parking, while being a guest was rediculous and the upper floors of parking structure were ill kept and no lights.The hotel halls were not clean. A sorry disappointment from previous […] visits of years ago. Also could not get receipt due to computers down. Unless drastic changes in maintenance and management would never recommdand this hotel. The staff of Hotel Arizona were superb and accomodating to a fault. Great attitudes. Prices of rooms and meals were very reasonable. If you have business downtown, or in the county and state buildings nearby, you could not be more conveniently located. Hotel Arizona has many meeting rooms available for a short meeting or several days with all the downtown […] amenities available. We will stay there again. Mehr

I stayed at the hotel just for one night when I was down for a football game. The room was clean and comfortable for the rate. I would def stay there again. There is also a great 24 hr diner called the Grill just a short walk from the hotel.

We got into our room at 4pm turned the air conditioning on, then left. We returned at 1130pm with a sleeping child and the air conditioning was not working. In fact the entire 12th floor had no AC. It was at least 100 degrees in the room that night. We didnt call because it was late and I did not want to wake my son up. The room itself was pretty clean […] and it was quiet just unbearably hot!!! Mehr

This is a good place for the price and the great location! However, if you are planning on staying in your room a lot, not the most pleasant looking, or comfort.

wow is all I can say - worst condition of any place i have ever stayed. The bed was super uncomfortable and I had to sleep with my clothes on because I wasn't sure how old and nasty the sheets/bedspread were. The headboard fell off the wall and almost killed me - seriously - and the bathroom was like a closet. The A/C sounded like a semi-truck was in […] the room which was also great. Mehr

We were not told they were shutting off the electricity, we were walking down the stairs and the power went out, dangerous. The faucets in the shower were backward, Cold was hot and hot was cold.There is a charge for parking on the premises. The room was not clean when checked in, had to wait for pillow cases and cleaning supplies were left on bed.

I consider myself a very sunny person who looks on the positive side on most everything in life (including my travel accommodations). I have to say, this hotel was the worst "HOTEL" (labeled as such in name only) that I have ever stayed at! And my resume is probably over 5,000 hotel rooms in the last 30 years. Frankly, the youth hostels that I stayed […] at when I was in my 20's in Europe might have been cleaner and certainly had more personality. Rather than rant I'll give you just a few lowlights: 1) Filthy walls and bedspreads, beyond must smell to almost everything in the room. A huge spot of DRIED PHLEGM--yes, that's right DRIED GREEN MUCUS!! on the filthy ripped carpeting aside the bed. No artwork in the room at all, no color, an air conditioning system that did work (give it that) that buzzed like a nest of bumble bees and had only two speeds--fast and faster--the unit looked to be at least 40 years old and never maintained other than dumping some freon in there occasionally. The toilets had fecal matter stains, the sink had bacteria rings and the TV was from maybe 1975; yet, it did have the ability to go to special services like the internet on screen keyboard (so 1990!) and the original Nintendo!!! (okay, kudos for that for being a fan of nostalgia). Positives: The front desk people were VERY nice and cheerful. All in all, this place needs a demolition team not a renovation team. Except for the central mid town location, NOBODY that is visiting Tucson should ever consider staying here. Motel 6 would be an exponentially better choice! Not joking in that one. Mehr

The hotel was nice, simple, nothing too fancy. The room was fine, except for the black smudge on my pillow case and a couple dots of stained blood that I found on my comforter. Breakfast had a good selection. I'd recommend for Tucson, but it would be less appealing in any other larger city.

I enjoy everything about this hotel except for the fact that it needs a serious facelift. this is a great location with a fine staff and a killer good breakfast. i just wish that the needed updates (i.e. 1980"s decor) were brought into the current times. i will stay at this hotel again on further visits to Tucson. for comment readers, there were no […] unwelcome bugs found...none.
