Tahitian Inn & Spa - Tampa

The room and facilities were very clean. Bed was comfortable. Shower had hot water. Complimentary shuttle picked us up from airport and also brought us to our cruise ship. This was very convenient. On-site restaurant was a little pricey but staff were pleasant. The surrounding neighbourhood was a little trashy. The Tahitian - less than 15 minutes by cab to downtown waterside attractions with neccesaey ammenities as well as extras like poolside bar and hotel restaurant. Enjoyed the stay.

This motel was built in the 1950's and has been updated and remodeled. The staff was great and the place was very clean. We spent a lot of time at the pool! The Only thing I saw that could have been cleaner were the plastic light panels in our bathroom. They were old and in need of replacing , but that was the Only thing I saw that needed attention. Stayed at Hotel on Feb 2012 for one night at the start of our vacation. Was not impressed with the hotel staff. This was our first time in the Tampa area and we were not familiar at all with the airport. Upon arrival at the airport we were told the wrong pickup location for the shuttle and then waited for app 1 hour, when i called back on several occasions […] I received answers like "oh, we did not know you were there, we will send the driver right over to the airport". Upon finally getting a hold of the manager we were told that not only were we told the wrong area, but the driver had as been as well. 2 hours after arriving at the airport we finally got to the hotel. When asked we were told that nothing would be done to make up for the poor service because "she (the staff member we were dealing with) was new and did not know bett". If she is going to be answering the phone and setting up things for customers she needs to be properly trained. Also, we had breakfast at the hotel before leaving and had to wait an extremly long time several times during the meal for service and were never offered refills on our coffee, our waitress was no were to be seen. As far as the appearance of the hotel, some parts appeared very nice, such as the pool area, but other areas were extremely dated and appeared to be from the 80's. Food was okay, but pricey and small portions. We were intending on experiencing other areas of the hotel but due to the late arrival, everything was closed. I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the hotel because of some of the reviews I read online. The room was clean and comfortable, the pool area was lovely and it was within walking distance to several places for dinner. The ride to our port of call was on time and convenient. The only complaint I have is that when I booked the room and called […] twice to confirm we would get a ride from the airport to the hotel, I was assured we would, however when I called, I was told they were too busy taking people to the port for their cruises and we would have to take a taxi. I felt we should have been reimbursed the $20 it cost us to get to the hotel. Mehr

I have never written a review for a hotel before for an unsatisfactory stay but this time I just felt like it was necessary. I booked this hotel with the intent to relax and enjoy some time away. I guess that was too much to ask for...the water pressure in the shower was terrible and lukewarm. The bed was firm which is okay but it did not even have […] a fitted sheet on it. And finally, I understand that others like to let loose and have fun by the bar and and that's fine, but after midnight when others are trying to sleep?? I had to deal with intoxicated partiers throughout the night then only to be woken up by the housekeeper pulling their carts across the tile floor outside my room. Ridiculous!! Mehr

The Tahitian Inn is a motel(breezeway) style place. The rooms have tile floors so any water or sand will stay on the floor for you to step in and get your feet dirty. Otherwise it's okay I guess. Nice hotel but not very good insulation between rooms! You can hear everything that happens in the room next door!

I had to cancel my stay after one painful night. The place looks nice in the lobby and from the outside, but the rooms were old and musty. There was mold at the bottom of the shower curtain and the bathroom was just old. There were long hairs all over our sheets and pillowcases, and on every towel. I called to get the sheets changed, and the new ones […] came with hairs too! Thanks God for hotels.com's cancellation policy...the Tahitian could not deny my request to cancel my remaining 3 nights. Charming Inn close to dining and shopping. We enjoyed our one night stay before our cruise. The staff very pleasant and accommodating. Breakfast in the Inn's restaurant was wonderful! Free parking at the hotel and free shuttle service to and from cruise ports made for a hassle free trip.

The hotel is not a bad place, but it is far from stellar, and certainly not worth the money we were charged. It is not a spa, far from it. The facilities are seriously out of date for the price charged, it is not dirty but it feels old. The pool is not heated, 68 F is way too cold, there is no hot tub, and the saunas were in odd places. The hotel is […] loud, with traffic and people coming and going at all hours. Parking is also a nightmare if you don't have a small car; small spaces and tight driveways. The restaurant closes very early as does the Bar and it is not cheap. I have no intention to return there again. Mehr

The Hotel was excellent! Especially for the price, and the rooms were huge! The only set back was that they had no complimentary breakfast. But overall the experience was very nice I would definitely recommend the Tahitian to anyone who wants to stay in Tampa.

They do a nice job decorating and giving it the Tahitian feel. Clean rooms. Watch out when ordering a mixed drink at the pool because they consistently did not put any alcohol in our drinks. But, that's just a minor nuisance compared to the quality of the hotel.

Nice pool, friendly staff, clean room... Aside from the pool, nothing fancy but does the job.

Requested a king. Got an old room with 2 doubles near the pool. People partying all night. Next day they moved us to newer section of hotel with king bed. Room much nicer. Hotel still had a lot of noise

I had to attend a class at MacDill Air Force and I chose to stay at the Tahitian Inn & Spa. It was about 7 miles from the base so morning traffic wasn't bad at all. In my opinion the location is close enough to explore Tampa and surrounding areas but far enough to get away from the city nightlife. The only thing that I didn't like was the hardness of […] the bed but that's personal preference, other than that I would recommend this hotel if your looking for something simple that will fit into your budget. Everything was great except king bed hard n if u get a loud neighbor at nite, you can hear it in the room. Very uncomfortable. Other than that its great.

Very convenient location. Big negative was that when I got to my room late one night the room smelled of vomit. They came and sprayed a disinfectant but the smell remained. Much to their credit they were very quick to do everything they could to help. They came and carried my stuff to another room (upgraded to suite) and were most apologetic. We got there and were upgraded from the king to th queen suite with jacuzzi..That was nice. The actual hotel staff were good but the hotel is just not that great...the ''awesome kon tiki" was closed on sunday and monday..2 of the 3 nights we were there. Then when we did go there on Tuesday night they said they chnaged their menu to be more like bar […] food :( No asian inspired food to be found.....Then the pool was also disappointing ...not heated to be actually warm enough to.want to swim in and nooool outside bartender was to be found like discribed. The inn is also in a questionable area of town.....While we did survive obviously we werent super pleased with our stay because we were expecting much more from what the online website described... Hotel advertises as having shuttle to and from the airport, and to and from the cruise port. It was the primary reason we chose it. When we arrived at the airport, they said they were really busy and I had to wait at the airport for an an hour waiting for the shuttle. When I wanted to go to the cruise port on a day when my cruise did not leave, they […] said they wouldn't do it. When I wanted to be picked up from my cruise, they said they were really busy. After waiting, and waiting, we just got a cab, again. Turns out they only have the one van. And whenever there is a cruise, they are really busy and running behind schedule. The issue is that whenever you want to be taken to or picked up from the port, there is a cruise. So they appear to always be too busy. Don't choose this hotel expecting transportation. As for the hotel itself, it's an above average motel, even they they bill themselves as Tampa's top boutique hotel. Mehr

Our stay was great, friendly, courtesy and did not need for anything.

My stay was less than I thought it would be. The front of the hotel looks great but is very deceiving... Once you head around the back you see more of a motel than a hotel. There was not enough parking.

The place was amazing to just start off the massage spa is THE BEST and they absolutely know what they are doing to your body you come out feeling like an goddess! We have stayed at many hotels but this one has proven to be very different. The employees are exceptional to say the least. My wife and I booked a couples massage at the spa and the employyes and the ambiance was exceptional! One of the employees found out it was my birthday and gave me a beautiful candle! On top of that she told our server when eating […] lunch outside by the koi pond and then was given a complimentary glass of champagne for the two of us!!! The room was very quaint and clean with a very comfortable bed.Tile floors and granite countertops throughout! it was expensive for money what I pay I didn't like when I look the picture was great but when I arrive the room wasn't what I saw in pictures , old furniture dark room so I didn't like .

We stay here every time we come to Tampa to visit family and it's just a great place. Love the pool and the great restaurant as well. My clothes have a musty smell when I get home but it's a small price to pay for all the amenities, location being the key.

Location convenient. Hospitality very nice. Rooms have tile floors that are quite dirty. Pool area very nice when neighborhood families not there. Bar and Tiki special very good. Would stay there again.

It has some nice waterfalls for dining outside, however, nice old time rock & roll was blaring. They did turn it down when asked...would have been fun to hear island music! Metal plates in sidewalks kept us awake as the drunken wedding party reverberated them while playing up late. We were across from the laundry room which hid some of the pool noise […] from us but cut down on light for the room...ask for an upstairs for more quiet, light, privacy. Our mistake was arriving early with 3 hours to go before we could get in our room...another lady who can later was given free breakfast coupons for waiting, so we went in and asked for them-limited menu, but good food. My friend was not impressed with the wilted salad she got for lunch, mine was fine. Hotel has a delightful island pool, but it was cold so we sat & read, but they were getting ready for a singles' pool party so it was not relaxing at that time. OK access to the convention center if you don't mind driving 5 miles: GPS didn't work due to a bridge being out that the front staff told us about. Breakfast isn't served until 7am which meant the parking lot at the convention center was full by the time we got there. Room was nice except for the noisy location, toilet that didn't want to flush. The room was decent - all tile and no carpets. The walls are very thin and the windows are not insulated well because you can hear every single outside noise. The beds were okay and the bathroom was clean. The tv was ancient. The hotel staff was very friendly. It was the cheapest hotel in the area, but not my favorite overnight stay.

This hotel was in a very convenient location for the activities surrounding our weekend. We were less than 10 minutes from downtown and the airport and about 25 to Clearwater. The room was nice, but not as nice as some of the pictures that were shown. It was a little noisy the 1st night with a bit of activity going by our door and cleaning carts preparing […] for morning work, but I'm sure that was due to our room being 10 feet away from the cart storage room. Did not have time to enjoy the pool, but it looked nice. Bar in hotel was closed by 10 PM on Saturday night, which was somewhat disappointing. Mehr

The pool with tiki bar and cabanas was a nice touch, but the bar was closed during our stay (Fri to Tue) and the pool was just a little too cold to stay in for long. Room was comfortable but vent cooling system was old, loud and clunky. Bed was clean and comfortable. Student's desk could have been larger and more practical. Lighting was dim. Staff was friendly. The location for this hotel is very central and convenient for Tampa. Was giving a cabana room on check in. The room was located on the ground level in the exterior door part of the hotel. It was also directly behind the stairwell and as such was very dark. The room also had a musty smell. The bathroom was original from the 1950's and in badly need […] of an update. The rest of the furniture, especially the mattress were in bad condition with lots of wear. It was not comfortable. We were moved to the main part of the hotel in an "executive" room. This was more up to date and much more comfortable. I would be careful which room you reserve. The photos of the property do not really show the condition of the cabana rooms. Otherwise the pool was nice and the grounds themselves were well maintained. Mehr

We booked this hotel mostly because of the FREE shuttle to and from the airport and the cruise terminal. We stayed there 1 night before our cruise and unfortunately, another night after our cruise. See comments below. 1. Upon arrival, we waited to get our luggage and then called. Airport shuttle was later than they said. We waited about 40 minutes […] (hotel is 10-15 mins away). 2. They "upgraded" us to a suite because they gave our room to someone else. In the "suite" was a pull out couch and a double bed. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub, which we tested out and it was not great. What was so weird was that the bathroom had shutters above the bathtub, which could be opened from the bedroom, but worse-you could hear everything that someone was doing on the toilet-that was terrible. 3. DInner was expensive, and prime rib was sub-par. We heard other customers say it was good, so maybe we had a bad dinner, but garlic fries are wonderful! 4. We requested towels that came after an hour or more. Pillows took equally as long. Seemed like very little staff. 5. Breakfast was wonderful on the patio-we loved our waitress, food was great and my son got to feed the coi fish in the pond (make sure you ask or coi food and don't feed them bread, etc. 6. Shuttle to the cruise terminal was on time and got us there in a fair amount of time. 7. Here is where it got worse.....After cruise-we called for shuttle and had just missed one. Was told it would be right back. 40 minutes and 2 calls later, were told they had another shuttle run taking people to the cruise that wasnt leaving for 20 more minutes and that it was a free shuttle. They basically didnt care. we spent $25.00 on a taxi to the airport and got a rental car for $60.00 for one day so we didnt have to rely on their FREE shuttle again. 8. Early check in, not an option this trip. Had to wait until after 2pm. 2 bedroom suite was not great. Shower had terrible pressure, water was scalding and floor was filthy. 30 minutes after t Mehr

I was very disappointed with the hotel. Two of our rooms had termite problems, we were moved to another room that was dirty. Overall we were not satisfied and would not stay there again.

Recently stayed for a business trip. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The airport shuttle driver was great, shared a lot of useful local information. Will stay there again if back in the area.
