I have attended business mtgs in Hotel Monaco & have always wanted to stay at a Kimpton Hotel. The historic Hotel Monaco is beautiful & I love the decadent lobby! I love that these hotels are pet friendly & since I didn't bring my dog, I opted to have the guppy stay the night. My meal at Bambara was impeccable- best lamb ever! Wonderful time in SLC. Hotel was good. Very dog friendly. Room and hotel cleanliness was above average. Will definitely stay at the Hotel Monaco on my next trip. The Easter brunch was fabulous and the new French bakery just around the corner /Eva's was a huge hit for breakfast and fresh baked bread. Great time. Thank you!

Room was clean, people were nice. There was a happy hour in the lobby each evening. Unfortunately, we may have scored the smallest room in the hotel. We have stayed here before and have had larger rooms. We didn't know that double rooms could be this small. NCAA tournament was in town, so there was no opportunity to switch. The hotel is an example of Kimpton's exceptional reputation. Other than the need for a little more "personality" from the front reception staff and the slight sound travel between rooms the stay was a 5/5. Fairly nice hotel but they force you to pay 17 (plus tip) for valet parking for just one night. No public parking aside from 2 hour max that costs an arm and a leg. Hotel room was much smaller than pictured.

This is a great hotel for lovers and skiers, but you have to know how to play the game. I love Kimpton hotels whether they are in Seattle, SanFrancisco or Salt Lake. They always have great service, but they charge for everything, If you drive make sure to look around at parking garages before you sign up for valet. There is a great deli across the street […] so that if you don't want to pay to much for a bottle water and you will have to bring your smart phone for free Wi-Fi. Live locally so have seen this hotel often. Good location. Parking cost is way too high but average for downtown hotels. Free wine tasting was nice and overall the service was very good. But it is trying to cover up an older product. First of all, if you don't like sharing your hotel with dogs, don't book here. Even though they said they book their guests with dogs on the same floor, we were waken up by a yappy dog in the hallway late at night. Called the front desk to see if they put us on a dog floor and they said NO, a guest must have not informed them of a pet they had on our […] floor. Strike one. Our room was very, very tiny, with small bathroom. Slot door, no vent fan in bathroom, and no view. The final straw for me was the very unprofessional maid service banging on our door in the morning. They should be in contact with their front desk and have a system for knowing what rooms are vacated Don't disturb your guests in the morning until check out time or later! For being a hip, trendy, overpriced hotel - this struck out for me. Will not stay here again. Mehr

We were placed on the 3rd floor which is just above the big PARTY room below on the second floor. There was a lot of noise and revelry pretty late into the night. I stayed here twice on a road trip out to the west coast from Denver. I had my dog with me and it was just a really fantastic stay both times. Nice rooms, comfy beds, reasonably quiet. Nice location in the center of downtown. Solid restaurant downstairs both for dinner and breakfast, free coffee in the morning, free candy at night. This is a very nice hotel. The room was a bit small but overall it was a great value with nice decor and ambiance. It seems like it is more suited to a romantic getaway than for business, but it is a very convenient walk to the convention center.

Came to Salt Lake on short notice & took a chance with the Hotel Monaco. Looked good on Hotel.com pictures & not on the Bed Bug Registry "watch list" but you never know until you stay. Wow! Beautiful hotel with very competent staff, clean rooms & excellent dining/lounge facilities. Even a complimentary wine tasting. It's a super cute and cozy hotel right in the middle of everything. We were able to walk to dinner. It's an old building so the rooms weren't huge and the bathrooms were upgraded versions of their old selves. I would stay there agin if I were in Salt Lake City but it wouldn't be a destination hotel.

Nice hotel, convenient for downtown. Some nice touches, complimentary morning coffee and early evening drinks. But having stayed in half a dozen hotels on our vacation this was one of only a few that did not have complimentary coffee in the lobby for hotel residents all day. Also why do corporate hotels like this charge guests for water. $6.50 a bottle! […] Why they can't provide water - which is of little cost but really appreciated in hot climates - instead of turning down beds is beyond me.
