Best Western Golden Sails Hotel - Long Beach

The hotel and service were excellent.

The stay was just fine. The front desk was friendly and helpful as was the dining room staff. Breakfast buffet was a yummy surprise. The room was large and the bed very comfy, and for once, a hotel bed didn't leave me with a sore back in the morning. (Most are too soft.) Would be nice if containers of real cream could accompany the coffee pot in the […] room, but no big deal. The hotel is a bit old, but that didn't bother us. A bit noisy, not so much because of kids at the pool, but from partying young adults nearby. Overall, we'll stay again when we return. Mehr

The room was clean and that's a must. Your staff were all top notch. Very friendly, helpful, and personable. The breakfast was very good. The wait staff was excellent.

Please do not book here. This hotel was horrible. The staff were rude and very grumpy anx unhelpful. They did not bother answering any questions. Everything was met with a i dont know. Food was disgusting and staff couldnt understand english. Overall this was a big mistake!

This was not a pleasant stay. The hotel is old and as soon as we'd driven up, I knew I made a bad choice. The front desk clerk had an attitude. We were given a stinky smoking room with stained carpet. I asked to be moved and she said I was lucky they had other rooms. The other room was better. We stayed for two days at this hotel. Staff were really nice and helpful. Hotel is really clean and the breakfast was nice. We had a view of the marina. Location is not perfect but was only a short drive to where we needed to go. Would defiantly go back to this hotel.

Stayed here while attending a conference in Long Beach. Great hotel, especially for the price. The hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Nice grounds. The hotel is older but it's clean and well maintained. The rooms were very large. Go ahead and ask for a room that faces some part of the courtyard/pool area and there will be very little […] street noise. They have a nice lounge that had a fun band playing. Breakfast was a full sit-down buffet with the typical breakfast fare. Looking for a reasonably priced hotel that's clean and convenient, this is it! Mehr

Everything was fine except the heating system.

Our 2 queen rm for 3 people was very comfortable, clean and roomy. Enjoyed most: The non-cramped feeling and the QUIET, as this is a problem for us at many hotels. Wonder if it's as quiet in summer as it was this Feb. Beds a bit firm, but overall was most comfortable hotel we've stayed in in 3 years. Chose this hotel originally because breakfast was […] included. As it turned out this worked perfectly, and helped us get on our way faster, because we didn't have to look for a decent reasonably-priced restaurant. Hope to stay here again. Mehr

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The room is large, the bed firm, the room clean, although the evidence of a poorly planned past remodel is there to be seen, as is the need for another in the near future. The room was reasonably quiet, even though it fronted the Pacific Coast Highway. The balcony gives you a great view of the sunsets. The […] television is standard definition, so if you're used to HD, be prepared. The television also is poorly located, to the extent that it is difficult to watch from the bed and impossible to watch from the sofa or elsewhere in the room. The breakfast, which others' reviews applauded, was poor at best. Steam tables are not kind to scrambled eggs (two styles), hash browns (once crisp, now simply soggy) or French toast (dry). You can make a waffle, if you have the time to wait for your turn. The bacon is crips and plentiful, the sausages limp and plentiful. The breakfast accounted for about 1/6th of the room charges for two. Wi-FI had a decent signal strength, once I picked the right router (they operate 3 to cover the hotel). The neighborhood as many restaurants of many types, so you won't go hungry. Overall, it was off in enough areas that I'll be looking for other accomodations on my next trip to Long Beach. Mehr

This Best Western is typical with good amenities. I had a noisy room but was able to turn it into a mantra of sorts so i could get to sleep. Bed was a little soft but hey it was one night. It did the trick.

I stayed here with my daughter during a visit to CSU Long Beach. As two women traveling alone, I was concerned with location. I had no worries-good location, safe neighborhood, great front desk staff. I would absolutely stay again.

The staff at the front desk were very courteous. The staff for the continental breakfast were great! Very hard workers! The rooms were not the greatest but certainly not the worst (just a little outdated). Everything in the room worked as needed.

Nice older hotel. Well maintained. Very nice staff. Great full complimentary Breakfast. Make sure your room is inside (away from PCH) and it will be very quiet (for a hotel).

it is a nice enviromental place, clean and secure where you can enjoy with the family

Hotel was clean but definitely in need of a complete remodel. It is very close to CSU Long Beach and the price fit our budget, but probably wouldn't stay here again just because of the old decor.

Nice size room and great breakfast.

Certain areas were a little dated but overall a really nice hotel. We had the breakfast buffet included in the room price so it was a good deal.

My wife and I had booked the hotel on short notice due to it's close location to a family member's "suprise" wedding in Seal Beach. After driving 8 hours in the rain in unfamililar territory we made it to the hotel around midnight. We were a little skeptical at first as it was an older hotel and, in the dark and rain, didn't appear to be very well kept. […] We were met with a great suprise when we opened the door to our room. It was huge!! The whirlpool tub in the main room was a welcome sight after driving 700 miles. The King bed was very comfortable. In the morning, with the rain gone, it was clear that we were mistaken about the upkeep of the facility. We enjoyed the free breakfast buffet, and the close proximity to "local attratctions". I would definately recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Our only complaint relates to the enormous room... Due to the size of the room, the distance to the 20" television was pretty far. We had to keep the volume up and the screen was small.... My wife and I will definately be booking here again in the future. Mehr

The hotel was very convenient to the area that we were visiting. Overall the hotel is outdated and in need of a complete remodel. However the rooms were neat and clean and the staff was very accomodating.

We enjoyed our stay there. I booked the place because it looks like it is on the beach. It is by the water but you cannot swim there.

Was a good experience overall. Nice amenities including a "cold" refrigerator (some hotel limits the temperature settings), kitchen sink, and even a microwave. There's a large space between the 2 queen bed and the TV (don't know why). This could fit easily a sofa and table set. The TV needs upgrading to LCD. The chair is too low for working with the […] laptop. The bed is comfortable. The fan/AC was a little noisy though. Hot breakfast was good and there were many selections. Would stay again. Mehr

This hotel is good value for money. Comfortable rooms, nice pool and a great breakfast in a room with harbour view from.

We loved staying at this charming hotel and were so pleased to be able to get a room with a little balcony on it. The room was quiet, comfy and clean. The location was perfect for our needs.

checked in, went to room had mice in it, got moved to a second room had mice in that room also. desk staff were helpful however would never recommend staying in a hotel with a mice infestation

One "oddity" was that the door to the assigned room was open when I drove up and parked in front of it. Pillows on one of the beds were not in order. I I called the front desk and to inform staff and a chamber maid quickly appeared and checked out the room.

comfortable bed, wonderful free breakfast, our rooms sliding door was close to the jacuzzi which was a great plus ! I would definitely stay again.
