Comfort Inn Central Park West - New York

Despite the room's appearance being disappointingly drab and old fashioned, the bathroom was clean and bright, the hotel service was good as was the breakfast, and the location was ideal for us - on Central park, served by two subway stations, and in a comfortable residential area. Close to downtown, but out of it. We enjoyed it.

The hotel is well located to Central Park, museums and subway but we walked to Time Square and Empire State. Great breakfast provided and restaurants around the corner. Safe Area. Small room, soft bed and pillows and water pipes that rattled but too tired at the end of each day to notice. Was the most economical when booked so felt value for money. […] Very helpful staff. good price for a great location, just across the street from Central Park. the staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a queen room, very comfortable...no noise at night at all, just normal hotel noise of doors opening and closing from adoining rooms in the morning.

It's hard to find a nicer location in New York. This hotel is an easy walk to the subway, right next to Central Park, on a quiet and safe street...the location is just excellent. The hotel felt dirty and it could have been clean. It was so outdated, though, that broken titles and stains could have been mistaken for dirt. It needs remodeling in a major […] way. Rooms were tiny, but so is most of New York so no big deal. I'd stay again if the staff were a little nicer but they were miserable. They were knocking at the door to clean by 8 am but yet you can't do an "early" check-in until 3 pm. What's with that? Every room takes 7 hours to clean? In all the staff were not friendly or flexible at all. Oh - one more thing! The pipes! The bathroom pipes clang at all hours and are loud! Very loud. It kept us awake. I needed to wear ear plugs and shut the bathroom door to sleep. I imagine new pluming would be very expensive, but the state of the pipes seemed dire. Mehr

We wanted to stay near Central Park and this place was perfect. The room was clean and the staff was great, they even checked us in early! Be prepared, it is a tall and skinny hotel. It was nice to have breakfast as part of the package, the only negative was, there was no where to sit.

This hotel is in a wonderful location, just 1/2 block off Central Park. Our room was not cleaned on the first night, although the front desk did have someone deliver fresh towels to our room when we reported it. Cable TV was not working well, and bathroom was the smallest I've ever seen at a hotel. Continental breakfast was very nice and included eggs, […] bacon and waffles. Room was clean and very quiet, although rugs we a bit shabby. Loved it for the location; however. Front desk staff was very friendly. Mehr

I can't say enough good things about this hotel's staff -- so helpful and friendly. The hotel itself was much better than I anticipated with the exception that the AC didn't work and so it was tough to sleep since it was about 90 outside. Great location, too -- easy access to west side subway. I would absolutely stay here again when visiting NYC

When we arrived, there was a discrepancy with the hotels.com reservation. First, the hotels.com rep on the phone was extremely helpful and corrected the arrangement right away. The room is small, but clean. Within walking distance of Central Park. Easy access to subway. Is it fancy? No, but for the price it was more than satisfactory. You are in Manhattan folks. If you want luxury, you will be spending considerably more. We pretty much spent time in the room to clean up and sleep. Their is too much to see in N.Y. to waste […] time sitting in your room. Overall the hotel was great. Convenient, friendly staff and clean. The elevator was not always available so staying on the 4th floor we used the stairs alot. The continental breakfast was outstanding and the staff in the breakfast room was terrific. The breakfast room is slightly small so need to choose your time to eat breakfast well. After moving from a double that was pretty cramped, had a challenging layout, and a tiny bathroom, we moved to a King with a rollaway bed. The whole stay was much more pleasant as a result. The front desk staff was very helpful, and all of the hotel staff were quite pleasant. A fine hotel, although when you are coming to nyc to stay up until the sun comes out, the hotel room quality isn't as high a priority as the price. Thankfully I was able to crawl out in time for check out.

This was one of the tiniest rooms I have ever stayed in but yeah, it's New York. Understandable I guess. Cleanliness? Excellent, no problems there but as I said, you have a queen size bed and just enough room for two people to stand. Room approximately 8 feet by 10 feet plus a tiny bathroom and tinier closet. WiFi that was promised was almost non-existant. […] We logged on and it would show just the faintest signal and would drop out after about a minute each time. Spent most evenings in the lobby on the computer. Now service, spending so much time in the lobby I saw some absolutely fantastic staff really doing everything possible for people. Nice place, quiete, clean and friendly staff.

Overall, I needed a place to stay the night. We weren't entertaining there, just basic needs. Small does not describe how close the walls were in the room. Neat & clean were primary, and as for two people in the bathroom, not happening.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this budget hotel. The staff were super friendly and more than happy to help with queries about store locations and taxi bookings. The room was snug (but bigger than some hotels i've stayed in New York) but still plenty of room for suitcase and storage of personal items. There was maid service every day. The room included […] TV, key lock safe and coffee machine, which I think is outstanding for a budget hotel. The beds were so comfy, and the area so quiet that I slept like a log every night. The hotel location is perfect, the subway station and central park are just 5 mins walk around the corner and if you walk a block west, there are numerous bars, cafe's and fab restaurants along the avenue. Last but no least, you do get breakfast included, cereal, fruit, OJ, tea, coffee, bagels and other assorted breads, pancakes and the coffee is one of the best in NY. I just couldn't fault the place and look forward to staying here again. Mehr

It was just a room. I did not even take a shower there. The free breakfast was a very nice touch in the morning though. The staff was very helpful. When I arrived, my hotels.com reservation had not yet been received and the staff hooked me up with a room anyway. I would definitely use this hotel again.

Very adequate though quite small room. Breakfast was basic but available. Location is great, 1 block from Central Park on W. 71st St.

The people at the hotel couldn't have been nicer! This hotel is in a great neighborhood, lots of restaurants in the area and very safe at night. The room was fine, the breakfast a treat and overall this was a good deal!

Made up in amenities for small size of room. Location good. Staff went beyond the call of duty to accomodate.

The hotel Comfort Inn West hotel is in a quiet area beside Central park. There is a metro station around the corner. The neighbourhood is clean and safe.There is a lot of small restaurants around the corner, post office, shops, a Tour Bus stop...The room was tiny but clean and the bed was comfortable and the sheets fresh. The bathroom was also tiny […] in a good condition though and clean. The window was small and overlooking a brick wall but it didn t matter as we were out all the time. Excellent location. We are 82 years old, and still, we walked comfortably to the American Museum of Natural History and, next day, across Central Park to the Frick Collection. We found many good restaurants very close. Parking at a nearby Ikon garage was convenient and affordable. Perfect stay for those who wants to enjoy New York and just needs somewhere to sleep. Close to subways, central park, walking distance to most things, great neighbourhood. Complimantary breakfast, nice staff.

Comfortable but simple, stay on lower floor so you can take stairs and avoid slow elevator, nice breakfast, convenient to UWS.

It was cleaner and much nicer than I expected.

The room is modest in terms of comfort and size, but the price is great, the staff friendly and helpful, and the location great. Breakfast is included. Subway access to downtown is wonderful, and the hotel's within easy walking distance of Lincoln Center.

The location is terrific. The hotel is clean and the staff pleasant. Breakfast is quite satisfactory. The room was not large but large enough. The only drawback for me was the soft mattress--not good for my back--and the water temperature--lukewarm, not hot enough to soothe my back!

If traveling in NYC on a tight budget and for a short stay, this is a great hotel! Excellent Location (right next to central park in a nice neighborhood), clean, and friendly. Only downsides are that the rooms are TINY and you can hear other guests going in and out of their rooms at night... But truly, for a budget hotel, this place is excellent!

The room was bigger than we expected upon check-in. We enjoyed a comfortable, clean bed and the bathroom was clean and fresh scented. The continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise and more than met our expectations. For the price we paid for an overnight stay in Manhattan, I highly recommend Comfort Inn and it is the best deal in town.

The staff was great. The hotel is in a great location. I got a decent price for my stay. The continental breakfast was decent. While my sheets & towels were clean, the rest of the room was questionable as far as cleanliness.

Ideal location on Central Park West. Dreariest room I've been in for a loooong time.

Room was poorly lit, it hada double bed and a single-not what we booked. The closet was so small we had to store our coats on the small bed. This hotel is ok as a last resort but i hope not to stay there again

everything is fine except for the very narrow space between the king size bed and the TV table. A very great inconvenience and painful. Could the TV table be moved?

Expected a complete dump. was very pleasently suprised. Rooms were tiny (but what want for the price) - bathroom clean - bed/sheets clean. great area. would recc staying here if on budget. - if you can afford the Ritz, stay there.

Very convenient to upper west side sites, but way over-priced for the poor service and condition. Can't find anyone at the front desk? Just check outside on the sidewalk, where they are usually smoking.

The hotel is comfortable and very well located. Breakfast is great, served and attended by Maria, who was always attentive to customers' needs. The rooms were rather small, but comfortable. I will definitely consider this hotel for future trips to NYC.

Average motel for the price. Rooms are heated with radiators, which were very noisy. The room was dusty when we arrived & never got dusted during our 3 day stay. Good location, though off the main street. We were afraid we weren't going to get a cab to the train station when we left so we had to walk, with our luggage about a 1/2 block in the dark.

I felt confident that staying at a Comfort Inn would give me a comfortable environment. I was wrong. I have stayed at other Comfort Inns but this was bad.The rooms were dusty and dingy. The view looked directly into the other rooms at the hotel. The service was bad. There is only one small elevator for everyone maids included. The only good thing was […] the kingness of the bell man named Sam. If I hadn't gotten sick while I was there I would have moved to another hotel. Like many NY hotels, the Comfort Inn squeezes a lot into a tall skinny space. This translates into small rooms, a minute exercise gym, and tiny bathrooms.
