Red Roof Inn Lexington - Richmond - Richmond

My husband and I were very surprised to find such a nice motel for a reasonable and affordable price. The attendants were accessible and there was an elevator to upper floors. The only complaint was the uncomfortable pillows.

It was not a luxury hotel, but it was clean and comfortable, and had a lot of room, and the bed was new and comfortable. I thought it was a great deal for very little money, but if you are a whiner, I am sure you could find some things to knit-pick about as you squeak while you walk.

Was more than expected.Other reviews were somewhat negitive.We found our stay of two nights to be very comfortable and VERY please with staff.

New bedding, mattresses, conventient location. nice breakfast. Very comfortable !

The only problem with this hotel was that the Air conditioner/ heater was missing the control knobs and also rattled alot. We ended up just using our fan we brought along. We spoke to the manager in the morning and he made a note of it. The beds were comfortable and the room looked clean. The price was great.

We were very disappointed that the hot tub wasn't in working order. It would have been nice to know it was under construction. We would have picked a different hotel. That was one of the things we were looking forward to.

The price was very affordable but the walls were thin so noise from other guests could be heard and even though we had a smoke free room the smoke came into the room from some place else in the building.

We had a reservation and they began by giving us a key to a room that was occupied....yes I walked right in on an older man not expecting anyone. The front desk girl, who was very nice and apologetic, upgraded us to a king suite with Jacuzzi. Not really sure that this was a true 'upgrade'. We had to throw our whole body into the door to get in the door. […] It barely opened and closed. Even though the AC was turned to OFF it continued to randomly cycle on to heat for about 30 seconds. We ended up unplugging it. There was used soap left in the shower and the shower had hair in it. Overall, the room wasn't cleaned well. Breakfast was the worse I've seen in awhile and in an area that apparently was once a storage closed. Barely room to move around. Only frozen waffles, bread, bagels, cereal, and hard boiled eggs. The 'orange juice' was a pitcher filled with orange flavored drink. The coffee was decent though. This hotel should be a 1 star...not 2. The only positive was the young lady at the front desk who was very pleasant but could only do so much with what she had to work with. Mehr

The hotel was clean and the people were very friendly. We went for the indoor pool and hot tub and the pool was cold and the hot tub didn't work. I would call first if you want to swim and make sure the pool is ready.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Pleasantly surprised by the large, clean room. One of the best complimentary breakfasts I've experienced in a long while; hot biscuits and gravy, sausages, waffles, boiled eggs along with the usual fair of bagels, toast, cold cereals, sweet rolls, fresh fruit ,juices, yogurt, ect., Outstanding fresh coffee. If there […] was a shortcoming it would be the small area available for the breakfast, but it was not a problem for us early risers at 6 a.m. Certainly will make an effort to stay there again during our travels. This hotel was not worth the money. No WIFI even though it says it has it. No microwaves or refrigs in the rooms. The water pressure in the shower sucked. Beds were not comfortable.

This hotel was exceptionally reasonable in price and location. Within sight of local police station, which made me very comfortable. Easy to find, Cracker Barrel nearby, clean indoor pool with exceptional hours (6a-12midnight). But so close interstate that it was right out our window. Room was very comfortable, but ran the fan to drown out interstate […] sounds, worked like a dream! Maybe request a room at the other end of the facility. Very clean, very up-to-date, very good continental breakfast with hot waffles and biscuits and gravy. Would gladly stay again anytime! Mehr

The beds were very comfortable, the service at the desk was great, but the pool was kinda gross (seemed a bit slimey). And the hot tub wasn't open, not a good look with it boarded up. I also thought the chairs in the suite should be reupholstered, the arms were dirty and uninviting. Overall I guess you get what you pay for. Great value for the money good location confortable friendly staff would definately recommend.

We stay here while in town for a dog show. This hotel is pet friendly and makes it great for people with pets. The rooms are always clean, the staff are amazing! We have 3 more trips planned for the area and will be staying here. When we was there 2/24 they was working on the lobby and renovations. They have an indoor pool, but the spa/hot tub was closed. […] Breakfast included "freezer" waffles, toast, danish, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, milk, 3 juices, and coffee. If I had to make a complaint, it would be that they only have 1 luggage cart. Mehr

This was my second stay in four months. The facility is being remodeled. The staff was very helpful and nice. My only two complaints: 1. The pool water is cold. 2. We stayed two nights. When the housekeeping staff made our room they neglected to vacumn the carpet. Overall we were satisfied and would definately stay again.

Hotel is in a great location , right beside police department. Down side , heat did not warm up at all , I was freezing ... Fix the heat !!

Great service. Fair parking. Close to thruway and local resturants. Yes I would stay there again.

Hotel is "in the middle of nowhere" Not convenient to any restaurants, amenities. Staff was helpful, although the Spa was out of service, and appeared to have been for some time-it was boarded over.

The linens did not look, feel, or smell clean. They appeared to have inadequate laundering of all linens. The bedspread appeared to not have been washed in months. I only saw one luggage cart and it was in poor repair. When checking out the cleaning staff kept the hallways completely blocked by the cleaning equipment. The cleaning cart was on one side […] and vacuum cleaner on the other. I had to move the vacuum cleaner out of my way to get to the elevator. In light of all the bad the carpets and bathroom were very clean. Mehr

Hotel was clean, great service and great price!

The staff was very courteous and went out of their way to accommodate us during our stay. The room was clean and while we initially did not have enough towels, this was corrected. The room was very comfortable. The pool was certainly a very nice feature, especially for the children. The continental breakfast was very adequate. We would and likely will […] stay here again. Friendly staff. The deadbolt lock leading to the adjoining room was broken. We reported this to the clerk. The room looked clean but when I started to take a shower, there was hair in the drain that had not been cleaned out. The bathroom had recently been painted but it obviously was not by a professional. There was dark paint on the white wall, the […] shower and the commode tank. It is an older hotel and it looks and smells older. But, overall, it wasn't that bad. It is convenient to the EKU campus and I would definately stay here again. Mehr

A very cooperative and helpful staff. The hotel is a little off the beaten path, backing up to the highway made for a little noisy sleeping conditions but a room on the other side of the hotel would not have been a problem. All in all a very clean comfortable rood well worth the cost. We took advantage of the late checkout and slept in a little lat […] er. Mehr

The price was right , but with that you get a Hotel that's in disrepair. The toilet kept running . I had to jiggle the float valve each time I used the bathroom. The TV reception wasn't very good. The free Wi-Fi worked fine. If you just need a place to rest , it's fine for that.

Problems from the start, entered our room (adjoined the 2nd room) to the smell of sewage and the toilet running...I fixed the chain on the toilet the first nite, we complained of the smell and mentioned the toilet problem. Came back after being out all day and they had put a tablet in the back of the commode - made the water blue, but didn't help the […] sewer smell. Staff were more than accomodating after the second day. We were moved and the second room was fine...but the other room's a/c kept shutting off. They gave them a fan...Place definitely needs some major renovation! Staff were very accomodating, and Manager was very apologetic as far as they could be. Breakfast was minimal, and got worse. by the last day the only fruit were a few apples, no sausage after the second day, and one day the gravy was edible. Mehr

Stayed here 6 nights and got a great deal. Employees are very friendly, helpful, and prompt when service is needed. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was simple, but good. Only downside was the number of channels on tv and that the tv doesn't have the hookups for a DVD player.

The staff was GREAT at this location. Unfortunately they had very little to work with in the physical condition of the building. Everything was clean and the breakfast was more than just toast and cereal. The staff even allowed our kids to swim late and supplied pool toys. Because of the wonderful staff I feel bad not recommending this location but […] the building needs some serious work done to make it presentable and new beds because the ones they have now are terrible. This hotel was nice enough to charge my elderly parents for their rooms that I had booked for them AS WELL AS taking my payment from hotels.com. Nice way to treat the elderly.

Reserve room in front of hotel, the rear is too noisey from interstate traffic.

The room I stayed in was ok for a nights sleep. For a single man doable, bring my family to the room I stayed in NO, burn holes in the bead spread not the freshest room around but the price was cheep.

Nice hotel and price for a visit to Nearby Renfro Valley. Kids loved the pool. Get and return your towels to the front desk. Clean pool area. Warm Breakfast - bagels, french toast sticks and other goodies. Staff nice. Knowledgeable of surroundings. Will be back. Thanks

We stayed while visiting my daughter for family weekend at EKU. Not a top of the line hotel, but clean and very friendly staff. Any problems were taken care of quickly. Does have a smokey smell, but was a major concern.

the staff was very friendly and helpful, the only problem was the room didnt smell good when we entered, but after running the AC all was fine...good value for the $

I was slightly impressed I must admit, for the price i was thinking would be somewhere just to rest a few hours save some money and hit the road the next day, but for the area/price and Continental Breakfast, pool, very clean I'd be the first to admit I was wrong and would go back anytime, Red roof inn guess i underestimated your lodging, and i do a […] lot of traveling....you definitely have my business in the future Mehr

The property looked nice on the outside, but once you walked in, there was a bad odor. The person at the front desk was dressed poorly. The hot tub does not work, due to a leak that runs under the lobby and the manager has put it off because they would have to tear up the lobby (this came from the hotel clerk). The only thing in the room that was acceptable […] was the bed, but not the covers, because they felt tacky. The bathroom had what looked like black mold in the grout on the floor. And the carpet felt sticky in the whole room. As my husband said, you get what you pay for. So needless to say, we will never say at this property again. Mehr

The room was clean and large. But, I was very disappointed to find the hot tub out of order and the pool area dirty and the water quite chilly. So, we retired to our room to watch a movie and what do you know, the satellite goes out. Not the hotel's fault I know, but disappointing none the less. third floor was kinda smelly

The hotel is showing its wear and tear. It was good for the one night stay while on the road. He front desk clerks at night and in the morning were very nice. The breakfast was decent also. The room smelled a little stale, but the A/C cleared it up after a few minutes.

The hotel is a little bit older, which is fine with me as long as it's clean. The overall appearance of the room WAS clean, but the room itself smelled SO BAD. It smelled like a mixture of cigarettes (non-smoking room) and mold/mildew. It hit you as soon as you walked in the door and the air was immediately more pleasant as soon as you walked out. And […] it wasn't something that you got used to after you were in it for a while...my boyfriend spent most of the day there on Saturday and said he continued to smell it the entire time. We requested to change rooms but they were booked so we weren't able to. Other minor complaints: The neighborhood bordering our side of the hotel was somewhat noisy. The continental breakfast was VERY flat and disappointing. The thing that irritated me most (other than the smell, of course) was that they did not offer conditioner along with soap and shampoo. This might seem trivial, but this is something I expect to come standard with my hotel room and did not bring with me. For those that use conditioner, you know that if you don't use it, your hair is dry and difficult to comb out. Very annoying! The redeeming factor that I will give them credit for is that the front desk workers were very friendly and apologetic about our bad stay. They did give me a 40% voucher for our next Red Roof Inn stay. Maybe it was just our particular room that was bad, but I would not recommend this hotel. Mehr

Our air conditioner did not work very well so the room stayed hot. The hot tub did not work and pool was not in good shape.

I have stayed at a lot of Red Roof Inns and this one was probably one of the best. The Wi-Fi reception in my room was EXCELLENT (probably because this was one Red Roof that did NOT have "Wondering Wi-Fi" as their ISP) I booked the best rate I ever got and once I arrived I was upgraded to the Pillow-Top queen bed for free which was the best hotel bed […] I can ever remember sleeping on. I always leave the DND sign on my door during the day when I am out working, house keeping still left me a change of towels and soaps/shampoos hanging on my doorknob - A First! :) Probably one of the safest locations you could have a hotel located in since the Richmond PD station is right there on Lexington Rd in front of the Hotel. Great Stay! (Continental Breakfast could have had a little more variety, maybe toaster waffles and Syrup :D ) But still a Great Stay! If you are staying in or traveling through Richmond KY I highly recommend this hotel for the price. (Only reason I gave the surrounding area a 4 instead of a 5 is that there is an apartment complex nearby but it was not rundown or anything like that, I just like my hotels Isolated (like an Island) for the most part - Just a personal preference. I had stayed at a lot of hotels and this one is very mediocre in every way. Nothing special,but nothing awful either.
