O'Callaghan Stephens Green - Dublin

Hotel in great location - short distance to shopping, trinity college, St. Patricks etc. Only complaint no hot water one morning (boiler got turned off - not sure what that was about) Overall good experience.

The hotel is in a perfect location, near to everything, but in a quiet spot close to restaurants, pubs and stores. Rooms were recently renovated, air conditioned. The chairs which were chosen are designer chairs, not comfortable. Staff was very accomodating, responding to our every request. Overall, a very nice stay. Only complaint is charge for internet. […] We didn't have to pay for internet at any other place in Ireland. Internet is slow and expensive. Buy a router for god's sake. Mehr

The hotel staff was more than helpful for the duration of our stay. We were located a block from Graffton St., which my wife loved for the shopping, and not far at all from the fun that is Temple Bar. I would recommend this place to anyone that has never been to Dublin, it is very convenient.

Only gripe I had is that we had a room facing the road and early work traffic is a pain after a night on the town!! Couldn't fault it other than that

Our first four days in Ireland were in this well located, comfortable hotel. The room was light with adequate bath space and a view of the local neighborhood. We could walk to Grafton Street and historical buildings and enjoy Stephens Green across the street. I would have liked a second chair at the table and a sheet under the comforter. We were thrilled by this hotel. It is located right in the middle of the action in center city Dublin. Convenient walks to Trinity College, the castle, museums, and wonderful pubs and restaurants. Plus the hotel is lovely, with a cordial staff and very reasonable rates.

To this veteran traveller and hotel devotee I would say that Jozef at the front desk was very hard working, overworked and probably underpaid. First impression of lobby is dreadful, tired old furniture, uninteresting art and suitcases everywhere. Breakfast room just as tired. stained and soiled. This hotel was described as a boutique hotel-it certainly […] is not. It is, however, very well located for St. Stephens Green, Grafton and Dawson Streets but has no intrinsic charm or personality. My room had wonderful duvets-bedding is very comfortable and bath was extremely clean. Bottom line is the hotel public areas desperately need upgrading to qualify as a boutique hotel. No newspapers for sale in the hotel, no safe in my room, no suggestions for restaurants, etc, etc-all the things that constitute a truly "boutique " hotel. Expect a great place in a great location. The staff is friendly and helpful, truly class acts. The location is unmatched, Grafton street, Stephen's Green, Dublin Castle, Temple Bar District, and St. Patrick's Cathedral all in walking distance. Also don't miss "Darwin's" restaurant on Aungier Street (make a left coming out of the hotel and a right on […] Aungier St., not far up the road, worth the walk - you'll thank me, TRUST ME, it makes Ruth's Chris look like a burger joint). The steaks there are the BEST in the city and the hotel is so close. But I digress.... If you are going to the train station, Phoenix Park, the Convention Center, the Zoo, O'Connell St., or anything on the quays, you may want to take a cab (we walked but we like to explore, cabs are cheap and it's a short distance to travel). The condition of the hotel is worn a bit, but it has a classic charm that you want and expect from a hotel in Dublin City. They are clean and that's not the same as worn, cleanliness is mandatory, worn is something that can actually enhance an experience when in a historic place. The only thing(s) that will get poor marks here is the air-conditioning, if you want to call it that, but the rooms have windows that open, if you don't mind city noise, it will keep your room considerably cool in the Spring and Autumn months. The other problem we had was the hours of the restaurant "The Pie Dish Bistro". It's not a big deal, but the room service menu cuts considerably in selection once it's closed forcing you to walk the streets late if you're hungry for anything other than a sandwich, luckily, it's in a super safe neighborhood with lots of places open late, so you're bound to find something, but after a long day (of walking mostly), it would have been nice to have room service bring us an actual meal at the end of a long day and save us from another walk. But maybe I'm just spoiled? There is no minibar or fridge so you'll have to rely on an ice bucket from the "Magic Glasses" bar Mehr

Hotel is located in a fairly quiet place, yet close to what visitors want to get to on holiday. Staff was excellent - always friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. Staff helped with a problem not involving the hotel which demonstrated excellent skills we very much appreciated. Green Line tram is 2 minutes walk, south end of Grafton St is 5 minutes, Temple Bar, Tourist Office and Trinity College about 10-15 minutes and there are a great many restaurants, pubs and entertainments within 10 minutes walk. Well equipped room, bar has good light dinner menu, staff was very helpful and most pleasant. Excellent location on SW corner of St Stephens Green. 2 minutes to end of Green Line tram, 4 minutes to So end of Graphton St, 10-12 minute walk to Trinity College, Tourist Office or Temple Bar area. Huge variety of restaurants, pubs, entertainment venues within […] easy 10-15 minute walk. The O'Callaghan Stephens Green had a great location, within a few short blocks of many major tourist spots.

This hotel was beautiful, the room and bed were comfy, and the location was prime! What more could we have asked for? We parked at the Royal College for Surgeons Car Park and were pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive it was to park for three days, especially compared to other major cities. Within walking distances to Temple Bar, Guinness, St. Patricks, […] Trinity, St. Stephen's Green, and more! Mehr

I didn't know but O' Callaghan has many hotels in Dublin. This one was right in the middle of downtown area, very convenient to walk around to find local pubs and restaurant. 10 minutes walk from bus and train station. Hotel was clean with bath tub. I wish breakfast was included in the price like others but room was very comfortable. Little thing but […] we noticed all the hotels in Ireland and Scotland had shampoo and bath gel but no hair conditioner. England had all. Mehr

The hotel is in an excellent location, close to Grafton Street. The hotel staff was friendly and most helpful, assisting us with train reservations. The room was clean, bright and modern with a rainfall shower, American outlets and a wonderfully comfortable bed.

We arrived early and were given a room right away. The people at reception were helpful and always smiling. Our room was very nice and we were delighted to have a king sized bed. Very nice place, very clean room and fairly big. Location is a bit far from the night life area but is acreoss street from the park. It is perfect if you want a quiet clean area of town and just want to site see and visit the wonderful park across the street. O'Callaghan is a great place to stay in Dublin. Our room was spacious and clean. The staff was always friendly and helpful and willing to go out of their way to be of service. The best part of all, though, was the location of the hotel. Just blocks away from Trinity College, Grafton Street and Temple Bar, it is close to many interesting places to visit […] as well as great pubs and restaurants. Access to public transportation is also close by. Despite being near the center of much activity, the hotel is quiet and in a safe area. The only negative part of our stay was that the hairdryer was missing from the room, but that would have been quickly taken care of had I asked, which I just didn't bother to do. Mehr

Great location on the edge of Stephen's Green, ideal for shopping in Grafton Street, close to everything. We used overnight parking at nearby garage for only €12. While hotel was clean and modern, we payed extra for a junior suite, but were disappointed to find the sitting room only contained a sofa! No coffee table, side table for drinks - at first […] we thought it had been burgled? Obviously to cut down on maintenance costs, furniture had been moved elsewhere. I arrived very early but had no problem checking into my junior suite. I have stayed at this hotel many times but it appeared that the suite has recently been refurbished ( to a very good standard). The bed and pillows are very comfortable. My only tiny criticism - lack of decent TV channels and the TV's could be larger.

I was a little dissapointed when I arrived to my room that the view was of the side of a building. I had half hoped for a room over the green. However, my dissappointment was shortlived as after a quick change i was out for the night - dinner, concert and cocktails with friends. Hotel was perfectly located for our night out. Arriving back to the room, […] I decided to set my alarm for 10.00 - hoping to get a decent night sleep. Having stated in several hotels in the city centre, I know that this is not always guaranteed. Thankfully the bed was very comfy and I dozed right off. I managed to sleep right through till my alarm went off! It turned out that facing the concrete wall removed any chance of disturbance from road noise - people or traffic. The only critisim I had was that we couldn't find what time the hotel served breakfast so had to go to grafton st (not a big deal) The hotel held our bags for us so we were able to go shopping in peace - shopping is no fun with a suit case! All in all, this was a good pick and I'd definately stay here again and I'd request the same room Mehr

My sister and I extremely very satisfied with the hotel. It was amazingly convenient to everything. The staff were courteous and the rooms quiet and clean. There was only one complaint, we did not get a requested wake-up call the morning were leaving. 10 minute walk to Temple area, renovated/new hotel rooms, great service, quite evenings, highly recommended.

The room was massive, had very nice amenities, was in teh newer part of the hotel. Massive bed and very big shower with "rain head". Right on Stepohens green, 5 mins walk to shops cafes clubs, pubs.... I was very suprised at how good they were. Didnt try the food, but its only 5 mins to any amount of options!

We booked a Junior suite which we were told would be ready for check in at 12noon. At 4.30pm the room was still not ready due to "maintenance issues" - hanging curtains apparently. Receptionist was not at all helpful. Eventually upgraded us to a Suite but the room was not fully furnished and was covered in dust. There was only 1 chair and 1 small round […] table - no seating area. The room looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks, there was dust everywhere. Also, the website states the hotel is next to the O2 shuttle bus - well the staff never heard of this - said the shuttle was from the other side of St Stephens Green but did not know where! All in all it was a bad experience in a bad hotel with unhelpful staff. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Mehr

A fabulous hotel with a great location. It is literally across from the Park, a 10 minute walk to Trinity College, a block from Grafton Street's shopping, the tourism office, the on-off tour bus, famous pubs and great restaurants (especially Peploes). The hotel was in walking distance to everything on both sides of the Liffey river. We never had to […] take a taxi. Our room in the hotel was newly renovated and was more than expected, even smelled new with super comfortable beds. The entire staff was warm and beyond helpful. They couldn't do enough for us. The business center was open 24 hours for our use. On our return trip to Dublin we will absolutely stay at the Stephen Green Hotel. It was such a warm, comfortable experience, you will feel as if it is your home away from home. Mehr

Staying at the hotel was a very wonderful and amazing experience. The staff was very helpful and went over and beyond to help us with everything. The location was excellent! The shopping center was just down the street from the hotel. Our overall experience with this hotel was wonderful and I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was great. Right next St Stephen Green, walking distance from Grafton and Temple bar areas. Service was good, rooms were clean and good size. And considering the price, this is a really great place to stay for anyone coming to visit Dublin. I will definitely stay here again when I'm back!

Firstly let me say that the staff at the hotel were extremely friendly, however i was a little disappointed by the following. The room safe did'nt work and the latch on the window of my room was broken and as it was a little windy the window could not be secured and blew open during the night. I reported this to staff as i left early in the morning […] expecting the matter to be fixed on my return that evening howver on my return i found to my dismay none of the matters had been resolved. I reported it again to be told that maintainence had finished for the night. Only when a member of staff came to my room to resolve the safe issue and saw the window issue was something done and i was immediately moved to another room. This would have been unnecessary if the latch had been fixed when i reported it. I was also dissappointed that there were no BBC channels a fault which i was told had been ongoing for two weeks. If they can resolve the maintainence issues then this would be a really good hotel. The location is great , handy for Grafton street, the luis(tram) etc Mehr

Excellent location close to Grafton Street for shopping, bars and tour buses. Since we were staying at the hotel for 7 days we were very fortunate to get a refurbished room which included a spacious separate sitting area. There were some friendly Irish staff on the front desk but unfortunately the hotel had some foreign staff that could not speak good […] English and at times were very rude. Mehr

Location of hotel was excellent as I was over for the Dublin marathon so with it been close to the finish line it certianly helped the aches and pains after 26.2 miles!! A usual with Dublin, hotel was pretty expensive but considering it was a bank holiday in Ireland that weekend the rate was okay but certainly wouldnt stay there again if the price was […] the same as what I paid. The best thing about this hotel is location. Dublin is an easy enough city to get around so staying here helps even more. Only downside is when I was doing the marathon my girlfriend went back to hotel and was told the breakfast was included in our rate (I knew it wasnt) so obviously she had it and I had to pay €11 on check-out. The location of the hotel is excellent and usual services were fine. Two niggles. Very few TV channels and at the rates the hotel charges I would expect Wi-Fi to be included in the charges. I will certainly prioritise hotels with 'free' wi-fi access in the future. I think this hotel has a lot of potential. After reading over other reviews I took the advice of one and requested room 1528. This room was in the part of the hotel that has been remodeled. The room is a very basic one and ok for the price. The staff is not very open and helpful. They seem indifferent to their customers. If the hotel completes the rest […] of the remodel and the staff is instructed to care more about their customers then I think it will be a great place to stay. It is located right on the park and a quick walk to Grafton St. The Luas is right there and you have access to many resturants and pubs. Mehr

Stayed with a group of friends attending the Michael Buble concert. Hotel is in fantastic location just minutes from the top of Grafton St & the park. Rooms really modern, spotless with amazing bathrooms exactly what you need. Cannot comment on the food as didn't eat in the hotel but the bar was good friendly staff and nice to relax in. Good location, nice staff, big, well-appointed rooms. The hotel buffet is expensive and sub-par, so find a breakfast outside the hotel. But that is the only negative.

This hotel was very close to Grafton Street and within walking distance of some great restaurants. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel restaurant had excellent food.

Fantastic location with stores and restaurants near by and the city center within a 10 minute walk. Restaurant in the hotel, delicious breakfast buffet. Excellent service. Gave us restaurant recommendations and made a reservation for us.

We stayed in 3 rooms on the first floor that smelled awful, had carpet worn through to the tacks and were just not maintained. Hard to believe that any responsible company would allow guests to stay in rooms in this condition.

This hotel is an excellent location and easy walking distance to the downtown core of shopping, site seeing, pubs in Dublin and of course St. Stephens Green. The hotel was very clean, had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel on occasion and the food and service was excellent. The only minor complaints: the air conditioning struggled to cool the room […] when the weather was extremely hot and humid and the computers and printers in the business centre are quite outdated and the printers didn't work; however, the staff was very accommodating to provide an alternate source. We would defiintely stay at O'Callaghan Stephens Green again. Mehr

I booked this hotel for my parents recently. They enjoyed their stay and were very impressed in particular with the friendlt helpful staff. They did fing id difficult to locate the hotel as it isnt at all clearly signed on the Harcourt Street side and very subtly so on Cuffe St! Also I was surprised parking was charged as on the website it states parking […] available. They would centainly recommend this hotel for its convenient location, comfort and friendly staff. Mehr
