Jul. 2012Ein wunderschönes Hotel in traumhafter Lage - mit dem Auto in ca. 10 Min. zu vielfältigen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und vielen, vielen Restaurants, in ca. 15-20 Min.ins Stadtzentrum von Pittsburgh. Ein Highlight war der Balkon mit Tisch und Stühlen und super Ausblick - eine Seltenheit bei Hotelurlauben in USA.

The hotel is very well-kept and the rooms are clean and comfortable -- at least, once you find the place. If you're driving at night, you had better keep your eyes peeled. It is set back off of the road and the entrance is in the rear, after a convoluted little street that itself looks like the driveway to a neighboring restaurant. "GREAT PLACE TOO STAY"
HAVE STAYED IN OTHER HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS'S BEFORE AND THEY ARE VERY AFFORDABLE AND ALSO COMFORTABLE. WE HAD A WHIRLPOOL ROOM FOR 2 NIGHTS AND THE WIFE SPENT A LOT OF TIME RELAXING IN IT. I HAD HEART SURGERY AND ONLY SPENT A FEW MINUTES IN IT WITH HER. THE ROOM WAS QUIET EXCEPT WHEN THE TRAIN WENT DOWN THE TRACKS AND BLEW IT'S WHISTLE. TRACKS ARE ABOUT […] 100 YARDS AWAY. We found the Holiday Inn Express just right for our 2 night stay. It is close to the turnpike exit and it was easy to access the center of the city (except for the road construction but that is everywhere.) There were stores and restaurants near to the hotel. The staff were very helpful and the room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast had both […] hot and cold foods. When I booked the room they told me it would be a king size bed - however when I entered the room it was a queen size - but much to my surprise there was a hot tub right in the room! My boyfriend and I stayed two nights at the hotel and had nothing but friendly service. The room service was wonderful and didn't disturb us when we slept in but when we returned from our day we found the room in pristine condition. We really enjoyed our stay at this place, and they made our kids feel like VIP's. When we arrived, they had snack bags prepared for each kid with chips, an apple, and a bottle of water. They also gave them each a large puzzle. And at breakfast, a lady came to our table and offered each of our kids a full size coloring book and a box of 24 crayons! We checked in the first night, front door was broken, room was ok but there was an electrical outlet arcing and the toilet ran all night. Got back to our room after the conference, and they had used some kind of glue in our room to try and fix the toilet? it made us dizzy, and there was no way to vent it so we changed rooms, they didn't have a big enough […] room however so now I had to sleep on a cot, which I had to set up myself. They definitely need a better maintenance crew, and need to learn when it is a good time to do the work, ie after a person checks out. The hotel was clean. The hallway did have a smell of cigarette smoke but our room did not smell. Other than that, the hotel did meet my expectations. We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express Pittsburgh North. It was a nice facility with a good breakfast available and a clean place to sleep. The pool had hair in the bottom of it which was gross (but could be expected from the drain). The rate for the hotel was fairly expensive especially with other hotels so close to the area (two parking lots […] over). The staff was courteous and kind and even let me back into the room after check out when my 85 year old grandmother forgot her cell phone in the room without any questions or problems. I wish there would have been a later check out than the 1pm late check out since we did not get there until 6ish in the evening on saturday and had to check out at 1pm on sunday and my fiance and I were kind of stuck in New Kensington with nothing to do because we couldn't stay in the hotel room any later... but oh well-- it may be a Holiday Inn policy and not a policy that this specific hotel enacted. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful in several cases. The only problem was that I booked a non-smoking room, and they gave me a smoking room. They were unable to move me to a non-smoking room and despite their attempts to decontaminate the room, the all pervading smell of smoke could not be removed. The bad surprise at arrival was our 2 double beds room wasn't available and we were "upgraded" to a single bed (king size) with sofa and folding bed in addition. Room was really to narrowed space but we stayed only one night; no more would have been possible in such condition. Breakfast was rather poor with minimum of products availiable.
