Unfortunately my stay was frustrating. The hotel has a good overall rating, but my experience was really below the average. When I arrived to my room, the lavatory was full of tools (they started to fix the shower door but have not finished that). When I came back, it was in order and without tools. But this time there was no hot water (I don't even […] know if I could say it was warm). The maintenance came, made some repairs, but noticed that the boiler was turned off. I waited for half an hour for hot water and I didn't worked out. When I made my complaint to the front desk, they moved me to a river view room (where the lamp was very poorly fixed). I must say that Ms. Lisa from the front desk tried to solve the problems very promptly and that made my stay not that bad. Anyway, the hotel need major improvements. Next time in Boston I will try other hotel. Definitely, the cost/benefit relation is not good. Mehr

Hotel was very clean and the staff were both friendly and helpful. The room was great except for the mattress which was a little mushy and the pillows were hard. And no continental breakfast?? Although the restaurant on site served quality food, it was not cheap.Lastly, the valet crew outside the hotel need some coaching on greeting people and communicating […] in a pleasant manner. for us having just one night in the area, close to airport, nice area...great restaurant, "Bondir"... close by, and the hotel was great, they gave us a river view room...almost the whole wall was glass window looking at the great view..room very comfortable, bed great, bath /shower great... we really were very happy with this hotel...staff very friendly […] and helpful, absolutely no complaints and I can be picky!!! I travel alot, so problems do arise periodically in every kind & level of hotel. The key to a good hotel though is how they handle a problem. THis hotel not only handled the problems quickly, but also went a step further to be sure we were extra blessed for the inconvenience.

a great hotel just accross the river from boston with the advantage of a gym and a indoor swimming pool which is a great way to start sightseeing day. rooms really good, breakfast pricy but can go to mall accross from hotel, where there is also a terrific variety of shops including two good restaurants.

I have to say that after our visit we feel in LOVEEE with BOSTON it's an amazing city!!! The hotel was nice service was hit or miss some people where great while others where not. One thing I must warn is that it's very expensive I mean they charge 6.00 for a bottle of Poland Spring Water!!! Also one night my fiance wanted a midnight snack so he got […] a burger and some ice cream (what a snack lol) well that wound up costing us almost 40 dollars. Parking in Boston is horrible so get ready to pay some cabs the hotel is right across a mall and has some nice shuttle. Mehr

Our stay at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge was great. We fully enjoyed the hotel and its surroundings. The staff were quite helpful and recommended a great seafood restaurant. The stay was too short, next time we will have to stay longer.

It looks like the room had been recently renovated: the bathroom was just spacious enough, the finishes were all very nice and somewhat modern, and the king size bed was amazingly comfortable. Good spot!

Almost everything about the Sonesta was positive superlatives. Afternoon wine and cheese dish under umbrella outdoors, morning buffet breakfast, perfect in all respects. Very clean, very comfortable, very pleasant. Only complaint was that room thermostat was a slave to environmental religious zealots and allowed temp to rise to 75F the moment we left […] the room. Come back to room, wait for A/C to bring temp back to something reasonable. How about a pro-choice room temperature policy? Mehr

The Hotel is excellent but the room you get when you book through this website is next to the elevator or the ice machines which are very noisy, otherwise the location is perfect

My hubby and I stayed here while moving our student into a college dorm. It's a beautiful classy hotel. The two concierges were friendly and helpful. There is a bar/restaraunt with indoor and outdoor seating, and we really enjoyed sitting outside right next to the river. It's right across from the Cambridgeside Galleria. We were able to get a cab to […] go to the North End for dinner, just because we didn't feel like driving in Boston traffic. The room was gorgeous, with granite, flat screen TV, and lots of space. The accomodations were first class. The staff was very helpful. The rooms were very clean and the cleaning staff did a wonderful job.

My daughter and I stayed here only one night, but I enjoyed our stay so much that I am looking forward to coming back when I get a chance. The service was great, and our 9th floor room had an amazing river view. The temp control in the room worked great. My daughter and I took advantage of the complimentary bikes, the ice cream and the boat tour -- […] all very nice touches, different from anyplace else I have stayed. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory across the street in the mall and enjoyed a beverage at the Starbucks there as well. We didn't try the hotel restaurant, though I have to say, the menu looked tempting. Next time I will definitely give that a try. Also, because of limited time, we didn't get to look at all the art work in the hotel. Apparently there is a lot of interesting art to look at. Looking forward to exploring that aspect of the hotel next time as well. The Science Museum nearby also looked like it would be worth seeing. Yep, will do that next time too! Excellent hotel! Very clean, quiet, comfortable. Convenient location. Excellent amenities. Great for business--with fast wifi and a great business office.

Enjoyed our stay for our daughter's Somerville wedding. All staff were very courteous and helpful, room was modern and clean. Our city view was spectacular, and enjoyed the food at the cafe. Only one thing we didn't care for: bathroom sliding door was a chore to open and close.

Really nice hotel. I highly recommend it. Very good location, right in front Cambridge Side Gallery mall (Convenient). Boston is a small city so you will be in town in 15'. Pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and gym. Very nice to exercice and relax. Don't miss dinner at the Art Bar! Clam Chowder is a must! Good food and not expensive. Nice hotel. I asked for a high room when I checked in and they gave me one with the view of the Charles River - very nice view. I declined the key to the mini bar when I checked in, but asked whether the room has a fridge I could use. The room did not have a fridge for me to use, but they told me they could have one brought up to my room for free - […] so I accepted and it was brought in no more than 5 minutes after I entered the room. I wanted to give the guy $2 or $3 for bringing the fridge up, but I only had a $5 and he didn't have change. I told him to just take the $5, but he politely declined. The room is modern and the free wifi is great. However, some aspects of the hotel look a little dated, like the exterior and (if I remember correctly) the elevators. The location is nice and safe, but there isn't too much right by the hotel (which I was aware of by looking at a map). Depending on the purpose of your stay, you might prefer to stay somewhere closer to the center of Cambridge or across the river in Boston. But - for those that prefer it a bit quieter, you may actually prefer its location. One last observation - the Science Museum is right near the hotel. I didn't go, but I heard its nice. It might make sense to stay at the hotel if you have kids and plan on visiting the Museum (or Center - whatever its called). Okay, one last comment - there are segway and bus tours that you can get from right outside the hotel. Let me go back on what I said before - the area isn't downtown Cambridge, but there is a shopping mall of some sort with some shops and restaurants right near the hotel. Just wanted to clarify that. I have stayed here several times in recent years, and I have always been more than satisfied. The hotel, from top to bottom is immaculate, well staffed and one cannot ask for more. The rooms are top of the line, clean and very comfortable. The fitness center is good, and the pool is well maintained. As for the restaurants, they are both quite good. […] As a vegetarian, I do wish there was a bit more menu selection, but other than that they are both excellent. Surrounding area, good...the Cambridgeside Galleria is across the street, the Museum of Science is around the corner, and access to buses is good. Kendall Square is a short walk away and access to the T is available there. The price is the one thing that will keep many away, I'm afraid, but it is well worth it. Mehr

The view is great, the room was immaculate and very quiet. If you're a walker, most of Boston is accessible on foot. There are many hotel people in suits, though, just not doing anything apparently useful. There were at least 3 at the breakfast buffet, but they had no effect - the wait was too long, the service was almost nonexistent, and the prepared […] food was pretty horrible, all for an unreasonably high price. We picked this hotel because of the location, and because it was one of the few hotels in the Boston/Cambridge area that would allow five people in a room. First, we did have a couple of problems...we were supposed to have a rollaway, but when we checked in on a Saturday afternoon about 4:30PM, they were out. Which actually ended up being okay, because […] the rooms are NOT big. I don't know where a rollaway would have even fit. We also had problems with the hot water - it would work, and then a little while later, it wouldn't. And then our air vent started to make noise... The good news, though, is that the hotel staff was extremely attentive to our issues. Instead of a rollaway, they made sure we had extra blankets and sheets to make a pallet on the floor for our youngest (and because the hotel is so clean, him sleeping on the floor didn't even creep me out - and it would have if the room had been gross). When we called about the water, a maintanance person was sent up to check things out, and they did some work while we were gone during the day to replace a valve. When the air vent was making noise, again maintanance was sent up immediately. When we called for more towels or glasses, they were delivered within 10 minutes. And then we always got a call from the front desk to make sure things had been taken care of. We were very impressed with how quickly things were taken care of - this is a big hotel! As for the room, it was clean, comfortable and very nicely decorated. As I said, it wasn't big, and the bathroom was on the small side. But for our family of five, we were comfortable. There were a couple of really great things about this hotel. It is across the river from Boston, but is close to a T station, and across the street from one of the trolley tour bus stops. Also across the street is a mall. At the hotel, they have bicycles you can rent - for FREE! We had a great time riding the bikes out to Harvard and to the Dunkin Donuts. This a very nice, modern hotel with all the amenities you will ever need. The rooms are very comfortable with desks, wi-fi, flat screen - you name it. The dining areas are very nice. The breakfast buffet was a little expensive, but good. The only complaint I have about the hotel is the parking garage. It's old, and the spaces are small. Great pool; comfortable and spacious rooms - great view of they Charles River. Good location close to downtown Boston and right next door to the Science Museum and the Galleria Shopping center - very convenient -

One of the best Hotels we have ever stayed at. The service provided us was fantastic! Friendly and helpful staff remembered our name, were always asking if there was anything they could do for us, and advised us of special deals available for guests, (riverboat tour was one). Room had a fabulous view of the river and Boston skyline. One of the most […] comfortable beds I have ever slept at away from home. I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. Thr Royal Sonesta in Cambridge is a beautiful hotel. The room was gorgeous, sleek, and very tidy. The staff was also very nice and accomadating. The hotel is located just on the outskirts of Boston and has a mall with resaturants right across the street.

Was very pleased with the location, mall across the street, not to far from the T, and easy to walk to most locations. Very clean and nice rooms. Only downfall was the water pressure in the shower. Will defiantly book on my next trip.

Booked a "Two Queens, River view" room for a familiy of five. A bit cramped, but excellent value. Made use of all the facilities e.g. free swimming pool and gym, free bike hire, free Charles River cruise, free ice cream and free wifi access - this made the stay really good value when compared with staying in a "budget" hotel without any of the above […] facilities. The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull, allowing us to check our bags in early and also allowing us to leave them checked in the hotel until our departure to the airport on our last day. My family stayed at the Royal Sonesta Cambridge while on a college tour to check out Boston U and Harvard for my 16- and 18-year-old kids. The hotel was clean, nicely decorated with modern art and had the best smelling lobby I've ever encountered. Our room was also clean and spacious with a great view of the Charles River. While we weren't exactly walking […] distance from the schools we were touring, we were able to get to them with quick cab and subway rides. Also, the hotel is across the street from a mall which allowed us more dining options than the hotel restaurants offered. Mehr

Located across the cambridge mall with great reasturants and places to buy all the things you need (toiletries, clothes, books, ect.). Nice riverfront view. The rooms have a very modern design and plenty of space, very comfortable. I would definetly stay here, on my next stay to boston. Nearby many of the universities. My son and I went to Boston to explore the city, as well as visit family. We spent 2 nights at my cousin's house, and our last night at the Royal Sonesta. Its price was reasonable compared to other Hotels I looked at, and from the reviews I had read, it was in a good location. That is all correct. It is right on the river, walking distance to the science […] museum, and a short cab ride to the north end Italian district (great food!). It is not too far from the T (Boston's subway system) as well. The mall is across the street, and it is not very far from Quincy Market as well. The room, while not huge, was very comfortable. We were only there for 1 night so it was not an issue. They even had free ice-cream for guests when we checked in. The pool is in need of some repair, but it worked just fine for us. Well maintained hotel. Courteous Staff and great views (we booked a river view room) Standard double room was rather tight for a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids), especially with the extra bed. We tried but could not get a suite.
