äußerst günstig gelegen, trotz Hauptstrasse kein Lärm im Zimmer, gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Bar gegenüber, Personal sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich, nur der Frühstücksraum etwas zu klein, ebenso der Parkplatz, aber genügend Plätze im Umkreis vorhanden, Zimmer sauber und komfortabel

"Ten-year wedding anniversary stay"
This was our third visit to New Orleans and our first experience staying in a boutique style hotel and the location, amenities, and overall experience with the hotel was exceptipnal. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it.

"Disappointing Experience at the International Hous"
When checking in the front desk initially did not have our room ready - because we were early. They said they would call when a room was ready which they never did. The bed had 4-5 long black strands of hair on top of the comforter. The front desk agent who did finally check us into our room was not friendly. Apparently they ran out of the room we […] reserved and she was not happy about giving us an upgrade. I always find it funny when they can't turn this into a positive! To be honest, I would have been happier with the rock star room (no windows) reserved because light came in the window and the trash truck swung by at 1:30am. Bell desk and valet and not present until called on the radio. This causes frustrating delays. Mehr

Loved hotel. The only thing I didn't like was u couldn't get ice unless u called front desk. No ice machine.

"Still in love!"
This hotel is Sooooo nice! This was our second time in 1 year. It really is a little bit of SOHO. Since our last trip they upgraded the already beautiful rooms and the bar? Wow! Yummy! Mixology wonderfulness! This place is a perfect retreat from the chaos of NOLA. enjoy!

The room we stayed in was not at all like anything in the website pictures!! It was very small! The restaurant had poor service, the hostess walked in circles trying to decide where to place us, then we walked out before anyone served us due to the unusually long wait to be greeted by our waiter. I had much higher expectations!

My first visit to New Orleans and boy was it hot!! Stayed at a very nice hotel, decorated to perfection. Extremely helpful front desk associate(James) who helped me & my girlfriend find very good places to eat and where to hang out in the evening. Few things I was distrurbed about was there were no ice machines to get ice despite the fact it was near […] 100 degrees everyday and I booked my stay through hotels.com meaning my room was paid in full; I left a DEBIT card to pay for incidentals(only 60 bucks if you use a card) and for some reason during check out I was charged 4 times for various different amounts almost reaching $500 in total. Matter of factly, if I didn't check my bank account I wouldn't have caught that. Now I am waiting patiently to get all my money back. Other than that I had a pretty good time and the hotel is really, really nice. Mehr
"Ok stay at International House"
The front desk staff were friendly, but too busy talking to check me in promptly. The Queen room had high ceilings but didn't look special at all, and needs a fresh coat of paint. My sheets weren't clean when I checked in either and they needed to be replaced. Finally, my wake up call my last day when I had an early flight came 15 mins late.

Great ambience. Great decor - oved the way the carpet coordinated with the bedroom designs. Stayed here five days on business. Although I enjoyed the greeting of scented candles in the lobby on most days, there was one day when the scent chosen was gagging. The water with lemon was also a nice touch in the lobby. "Luxury but Loud"
International House is very convenient to French Quarter, Canal Street, French Market and great to catch the trolley but the rooms on Camp Street are very loud early in the morning. We were awaken at 5am or earlier every morning at the sound of garbage trucks, delivery trucks, etc. Other than that we had an enjoyable stay. "Great location and great hotel"
This hotel combines class with affordability and location. Having never been to New Orleans before, we did not know where was best to stay, and the International House ended up being a perfect choice. The staff are friendly, the rooms are well-kept and the location is perfect. We were just a few blocks from the French Quarter, Convention Center, and […] Riverfront. It's a block off the St. Charles Streetcar (to the Garden District, Uptown, etc.) and there are a bunch of great restaurants and shops all within a few blocks of the hotel. The only complaint we would have was that the air-conditioning settings kept changing in a way that kept allowing the room to get uncomfortably warm (and given that it was early August, it was really hot and humid outside). While that was annoying, once we figured out how to keep adjusting it back down every couple hours, all was well. Overall, I would most definitely recommend the International House to any friends and family traveling to New Orleans. It was wonderful! Mehr

"Hotel Review"
The location was great. The room was clean, but the phone was not working. Queen size bed rooms are small. The small refrigerator was a plus. I would come back to this hotel.

"Classy and quiet, but close to Canal and Bourbon"
The staff was friendly and helpful -- they suggested a great jazz brunch and helped book several tours. The room was lovely -- comfortable and well-decorated. And it's within two blocks of Canal and Bourbon Streets. We had a great stay and would definitely stay here again!

"Music Fest Nightmare"
Booked this room based on previous reviews. I don't know if this is typical of the hotel or just a by-product of the Music Fest going on this weekend; couldn't find valet until after I had checked in, lobby filthy, bizarre hay bales in breakfast area; room less than clean. I don't know if it is worth giving this hotel a second chance.
Thank you for your review. The Essence Music Festival is an amazing 3 day event that takes place in NOLA each year over the 4th of July. We did a hotel buyout and the lobby was transformed just for the client. We offer our most sincere apolgy to you for this inconvenience. We hope to see you again as your experience was not in our regular business days.

We booked this through hotels.com and I think we got the tiniest room in the place (judging from the floor plan on the back of the door). It was the smallest room I have seen, but since it was just a getaway without the children, it was perfect- intimate, clean, quiet, serene. I didn't mind the small size. I noticed other rooms on our floor were huge. […] Ours was just big enough for a bed, 2 end tables and tv cabinet. The entire hotel was immaculate, so clean, and the hotel staff was wonderful- they recommended fabulous places to eat and hear music. The only negative was that we had to walk past a hotel laundry and garbage area, which smelled icky, but I just took a deep breath before we passed that each time. Oh, Rambla, the restaurant at the hotel had the most imaginitive and unique menu, it was fabulous! Wonderful stay, we would definitely go back to the International House, and I would even be fine with the small room again- it made things more simple and intimate. Mehr
"Unique, hip, comfy"
We spent three nights at International House and have no complaints. The room was just fine - comfy bed, good air temperature. The bathtub was huge! I wouldn't be able to bathe in any hotel tub without first scrubbing it myself with bleach (no matter how many stars), but it would've made a nice spot for a relaxing bath if you're not weird about those […] things. The location was great - just blocks from the craziness of the French Quarter but far enough that you could escape to the quiet for a good night's sleep. I recommend International House. Mehr
"Great experience, great staff, awesome decor"
My wife and I came for a conference. The front desk staff are top notch! The bartenders are excellent and the drinks are worth the extra 3 or 4 dollars. Overall, clean and comfortable, and the lobby is especially beautiful at night. Only negative- the gym is a bit rough around the edges.. We would definitely stay here again!
"Good not Great"
Overall it was a good experience but by far the best part about this hotel was the location. I was a little disappointed because I didn't feel like it was the 4 star hotel it advertised it was. Great: Easy walk to Canal, French Quarter, Jackson Square was about 15 min walk. Good: Clean. Not so Good: Noisy AC, smelled a little musty, small room.

"OK, but better choices around for the price"
We left thinking we should have just stayed at a cheaper nearby hotel with more offered free features, for what we got. The hotel is decorated nicely, cool small bar with very good drinks, nice bathroom and Aveda soap, etc., great location just on other side of Canal St. from French Quarter. Beds totally comfortable. But, strange layout, the closet […] was in the bathroom, very little table/nightstand space. Also, no valet or bellmen at all when we arrived (6:00, a busy time, you'd think), and when we checked out the lady at the front desk acted like we were interrupting her very important social conversation with the doorman (apparently on his break or something after sweeping out front). Nice cool boutique hotel, but not really much to offer re the special perks and service you'd expect. Mehr
after reading all of the reviews for this hotel we decided to stay there. we were very satisfied with what we paid for the room, the looks of the room, the location to our points of interest. we will definately stay there again!!

"room not equal to price"
I stayed in the regular queen room. Have had bigger and better furnished rooms at holiday inn's. no table in room for computer/work. no chair or anything else. Bed, walls, tv, bathroom and door. For the price and the 'status' they claim to have, very lacking.

"International House"
The hotel was nice but the room we were given was very small. There was only room for the bed and nightstands. No chair was in the room. We did notice bigger and nicer rooms. I believe those rooms were reserved for the full price customer.
"I'm Picky and This Worked Out Fine"
I read some of the reviews on hotels.com and was a bit concerned about the complaints. Very convenient to Bourbon Street. I was by myself and felt safe. It is New Orleans though. Nice lobby, hallways are clean. The room isn't going to blow your mind away, but it's fine. High ceilings, clean, comfortable bed. Bathroom was good. Not a huge sink but definitely […] enough. I walked by the hotel bar and it looked pretty nice. You won't check into this hotel for the price and be upset. Mehr

Hotel is in a great location. Lobby, bar, and room were all in great condition. Greeting to the hotel outside was a bit rough, but overall, the staff was great!

Great hotel close to everything - French quarter, streetcar and the dining in warehouse downtown district. cool lounge and lobby and bonus was the filming of a Treme episode across from hotel while were there and main actor used lounge as her green room.

I was driving through New Orleans and this was a last minute reservation. All-in-all, not too shabby! For the price, I could not complain at all. Staff was helpful and location wasn't too bada either. Only about a 5 minute walk from anything around.
"So disappointed - Not a 4 star hotel"
I book travel for the entertainment industry and based on a tour of this hotel a few years ago have been enthusiastically recommending International House to people ever since. This was my first stay and I couldn't have been more disappointed. I'd actually go so far as to say I'm embarrassed I've been sending people to stay there. The hotel doesn't […] come close to what I expect from a 4 star hotel. The facts: The wallpaper was peeling in both the bathroom and bedroom. When I pulled back the curtains the previous guest's flip flop was still in the room. The breakfast order form and pad were covered with the previous occupants' notes - no one had bothered to change them for a clean version. The directions for internet access were wrong in multiple sets of documentation - I couldn't call the front desk to ask for help because my phone didn't work. My room was TINY (and I say this as a New Yorker accustomed to NY hotels) and lacked even the intelligent placement of a desk or chair. There was nothing in the room beyond bed, nightstand, and armoire. There were no q-tips, cotton balls, etc in the bathroom. At best it could be called basic and worn. This is actually the first time I've ever written a public review, but I was just so incredibly disappointed. I don't think it is too much to ask for the phone to work and the room to be free of other people's belongings. Service: Ambivalent at best. They behaved ambivalently and tried and failed to fix the broken phone and told me with no apologies that the internet service had just been changed. When I went to store my luggage at check-out they insisted that they needed to book a cab for me in advance so I didn't "get one of those foreigner drivers". I was offended. And then, when I did come back for my must-be-booked-ahead cab, no one seemed to know anything about it. They asked me about my stay and I told them all of this, but beyond a simple apology, and some notes scribbled on a post-it, I didn't feel like they cared. Y Mehr

We take great pride in our service and our hotel (we just finished a 1.5 million dollar renovation) so your review came as a great shock and disappointment to me. While I would like to belive that we are perfect 100% of the time, I realize that we do have our shortcomings and will take all steps necessary to correct them. We would love to have you come back to stay with us and if you look at the other reviews, we are indeed known for our serivce. We hope for a second chance so that we can show you the level of service that we are used to delivering.
