"The Truth!!!"
I booked this hotel because it was close to "Walkway Over The Hudson". I'm not a very picky person, however, cleanliness is important to me. The hotel is a bit overly priced but I'm still glad I stayed here. The staff was nice (freshly baked cookies was a nice touch) , breakfast was decent and they offer 24 hour coffee and tea, plenty of parking spaces […] (although it seemed the hotel wasn't full), and free internet. Our room was clean with the exception of a strand of hair that I found on my bed, nice size with a sofa bed and coffee table. The bathroom was a good size and the view would have been awesome had we stayed during the summer as it was on the first floor, room 104 and faced the outdoor pool. We stopped in Poughkeepsie to visit Vassar college in town and Colombia and NYU in the city. The location is great. Train station is literally 5 minutes away. So, we took the train to Grand Central ($22 peak time and $17 return) which worked for us as I did not want to deal with finding parking in Manhattan. Service at the hotel was A plus. I've stayed here many times to visit my daughter attending The Culinary. Very convenient, clean, and friendly staff, so I will definitely stay again. There were warm chocolate chip cookies on the front desk when I arrived, perfect to unwind after a long trip with a cup of tea from the 24 hour beverage station. Nice enough place. Most others in the immediate area are very sketchy. Only stayed one night so I don't want to gush, but had a positive experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast bar, while a little bit small, was good quality. Kids up to 18 stay free, no pets. I just couldn't get comfortable with the pillows provided. The bed was […] neither bad nor good. Disliked that the fridge was deactivated so it was not cold on arrival, and then we couldn't tell if it was working right after we turned it on. Didn't think to compensate with ice from the machine. Room was very clean and comfortable. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only draw back was there was no place to eat with in walking distance. "A nice hotel for short or long stays."
We had absolutely zero complaints about this place. It was clean. We only called the front desk once to ask a question and they answered promptly (around 2AM). Nothing sketchy about it. After taking a bus, a train and a taxi, I finally reached the hotel and was very happy to do so. Our room had a very strange shower...It seemed awfully powerful (no way to change it) and the shower curtain did not keep the water from going all over the floor. Continental Breakfast was very nice. "Where not to stay"
We checked into the hotel, took a shower in fifteen minutes, and left. We returned that evening, gathered our two bags, and checked out. It smelled like cigarette smoke, was musty, and humid. My 2nd visit to this Holiday Inn Express to visit my daughter at the CIA, and as good as the 1st. Great staff; very helpful; and I had a free, surprise upgrade from a double to a king room when I checked in. Pool and exercise room are very nice; very filling and hot b'fast items; only complaint is the ADA bathroom was nice and spacious, but the toilet […] paper was on the opposite wall from the toilet: not an easy reach for me, so can't imagine how disabled would manage.
