The Palmer House Hilton - Chicago

Das Hotel liegt gut, am südlichen Ende der Shopping-Strassen und nahe dem See - alles in Laufdistanz. Leider war das Hotel absolut überlaufen und der Kontrast des Publikums mit dem schönen, ehrwürdigen Gemäuer war doch bemerkbar. Service war gut, alles war sauber und ordentlich aber es ist halt - bis auf die Lobby - nichts besonderes.

Das Palmer House Hilton liegt mitten in Chicago, so dass man zu Fuss alles erreichen kann. Die Zimmer sind etwas klein, dafür in einem sehr guten Zustand. Die Lobby ist super! Wie man sich ein amerikanisches Grand Hotrl vorstellt. Und wer die Executive Etage gebucht hat, darf sich über zwei separate Lifts freuen.

Die Lage des Hotels ist super. Man kann alles bequem zu Fuss erreichen und die Lage abends ist sicher. Die allgemeine Sauberkeit ist auch ok. Das Zimmer war sehr klein und schlecht zu finden. Der Service im Sinne von Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft ist schlecht. Speziell auch beim Frühstück. Sehr lange Wartezeit bis man einen Platz zugewiesen bekommt, […] obwolh sehr viele Tische frei waren. Auf einen Tee musste ich über 20 Min.warten. Mein Wunsch hinterher noch Kaffee zu trinken und dafür eine saubere Tasse zu bekommen, traf auf Unverständnis. Kellner und Einweiser sehr unfreundlich !!! Mehr

Wir haben das Hotel aufgrund seiner Nähe zu einem Park gewählt und es war toll, im Park oder dem See entlang joggen zu gehen.

Altes, geschichtsträchtiges Hotel, sehr schön renoviert und superzentral. Zimmer und Bad sind nicht sehr groß, aber okay. Die El fährt direkt dran vorbei, aber die Fenster haben Schallschutz. Ich habe nur einen Kühlschrank vermisst. Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Man kann alle Sehenswürdigkeiten: Loop, Hancock, Magnificent Mile, Navy […] Pier, Millenium Park etc. zu Fuß erreichen und auch zur Union Station / Amtrak ca. 15 Minuten. Vom Flughafen mit der BlueLine praktisch in 35 Minuten. Parkplätze kosten in der Ecke ca. 28,- Dollar / 24 h oder Valet Parking für 30-40 Dollar. Mehr

great location, reasonable rates for Chicago downtown, polite and friendly staff, gorgeous lobby. The room they assigned us was quite spacious and comfortable. Would be happy to return again.

We were extremely happy & satisfied with our stay at the Palmer House Hilton! We got a GREAT deal through hotels.com on the room rate. The rooms were very clean and decorated nice. The location was perfect…we were within walking distance of everything (shopping on MI Ave, Millennium Park, Art Institute, Aquarium, Field Museum and train stops). Also, […] the concierge was super helpful with recommendations for restaurants and directions. The hotel itself is beautiful (the lobby is amazing) and there are lots of areas to sit and meet up with friends. There are two bars located in the hotel…Potter’s Lounge was our favorite spot to grab a drink before dinner. There is also a Starbucks on the street level with has a lot of sitting area as well. Parking was outrageous, and horrible that both lounges closed at 12;00AM, especially when their was a huge crowd in the area . The whole reason we stayed downtown was to enjoy a wedding and not drink and drive and we were told we had to go to Millers pub????? $42.00 for parking when you are staying in the hotel is a bit over the top. Hotel is older […] but well kept, the bathroom was unreal at the very least the carpenter should of had the door swing out , would make it easier to take a shower???? Mehr

We stayed one night in the Executive Level for my wife's 40th birthday. Everything about our experience was perfect for this very special occasion, with one exception. The staff was absolutely outstanding--every single person with whom we interacted was genuine and helpful. These people like what they do! The hotel itself is magnificent and ideally […] located. The one downside was a very significant one--the mattress was clearly past its prime--very uncomfortable and we both barely slept on our one night stay. I had certainly hoped for and expected better, especially given the premium room and associated price. The management apologized, produced a nominal voucher for food at the hotel restaurant, and said they'd take care of the mattress. That didn't do us much good. Overall, a great experience but I believe a better move for management would've been to provide another night's stay in an equivalent room with a good mattress--in this respect I believe they fell well short of what would've been an appropriate response. We had a huge corner room and a great stay at this grand old hotel.

we enjoyed it. the bellmem helped us find a nice place to eat close by and gave good directions to highway 94 when we were leaving. everyone was very pleasant and patient

We loved our stay at the Palmer House Hilton. The location is superb, quick access to all sorts of public transport (El, subway, bus). The hotel has a great historic feel. Rooms were comfortable and well kept. Staff was very nice. Lobby is a gorgeous place to sit. Being historic, the walls are a tad thin, but we slept fine, neighbors didn't keep us […] up. Great hotel! No real complaints

This was a great old hotel but I had a couple issues worth mentioning. Our room was small but very nicely decorated and clean however the noise coming from the 8-10 elevator shafts was unreal. I have never stayed in a hotel where I could so clearly and loudly hear the elevators going up and down all day and night. It was so loud it kept me up at night. […] The neighborhood is convenient but tons of homeless people everywhere which frightened my 3 children. Mehr

Very convenient to all mass transit starting with the train from Midway that drops you off at Adams & Wabash ( The Palmer House). Theatre and Museums a block away and plenty of good food in the neighborhood.

The luxury and glamour from all times with the amenities of XXI century, all in one. Beautiful, excelent service and in the heart of Chicago is a great option for your holidays or business trip. Close to Michigan Avenue, Millenium Park and metro stations. Dont forget to take a drink in its amazing lobby bar.

Great location. Room OK.

The Palmer House is located perfectly! My primary reason for my weekend stay was to see Jersey Boys and the hotel is a "stone throw" away. The red and blue line trains are within a block's walk; great eateries are within blocks; evening entertainments are also nearby. The hotel itself is self-sustained, however, the conveniences are not cheap - 2 drinks […] at the lounge cost $35! They weren't phenomenal nor were they signature drinks... I had a queen room and the TV was on the dresser to the side of the bed which made watching TV awkward. Of course, I didn't watch much TV - afterall, I am in downtown Chicago.... but I do like my wind-down time! Mehr

This hotel is right by the art museum, great location.

The lobby is beautiful and I am sure some of the room are as well. The room we stayed in left a lot to be desired. It was like stepping into a room from 1995. It was a room with a bed and old tv. I had hoped for something a bit nicer.

Perfect location to play in the city. Close to a great breakfast place, Wineberry. Fell out of bed and was at the Art Institute. A short jaunt to RoseBud Tatorria. Walked along the lake Saturday morning. Cocktails in the afternoon at the lobby bar in the hotel. I love the Palmer House and can'r wait to go back. Fantastic old art deco hotel. Location was very convenient to Magnificent Mile, Millenium Park, Museums and Lake. Having two bathrooms in a room shared by three women was really a plus. The hotel is under renovation and we were in an older room, but it was still in good shape and clean. The room was lovely, the price was right. I can get very petty: Positives: Good quality bed linens, ironed sheets, lovely pillows. Spacious room with a too small exterior window. Negatives: Very bad acoustics. I could hear the next door guests' conversation through the bathroom vent. How can a major hotel not have HBO option on the TV? Housekeeping […] did not leave an adequate number of towels in my the second night of my stay. I had an old shower cap around my toothpaste because it had sprung a leak. The housekeeper discarded it. I don't expect to have to pay to use my hotel's health facilities. Mehr

We had a really nice spring break in chicago at the Pamer House Hilton. The hotel itself is so elaborate and beautiful, but it is also really close to the Art Institute, Grant Park and Millenium Park, which was really nice. It is about a 2mile walk away from the Museum Campus and Water Tower. The staff was very helpful and kind, when you travel with […] 2 children sometimes staff get irritated but they were great. This is the second time we stayed at the Palmer House and it won't be the last. We were able to find a fantastic rate on hotels.com over the Easter weekend. We love the decor, the comfort of the beds and the convenient location - it is within walking distance of many things: sights, events, and tons of restaurants. The kids were in awe of the hotel and it's beauty. The pool was clean, but full of people most of the time. My only request is a "free" continental breakfast on site. It was difficult to get everyone ready and leave the hotel for breakfast. Beautiful hotel but the room was not as large as I expected. The toilet in our room was rather loud when flushed. The location of our hotel was awesome.

It was great! Beautiful and staff was very helpful. Loved the notalgia of the Empire Room. Location was perfect for our plans!!

For the high price we paid to stay here I expected a lot more from this hotel. The rooms were run down with dated ammenities. Elevator service was painfully slow. You had to pay for every extra ($20 to get internet, another $20 to print, $25 for an extra person and another $10 to use the gym). The tiny double beds were comfortable at least. way too expensive for what you get. if you want to order food forget it they want $4.00 just for 1 banana. The rooms were not as nice as expected for the price they didn't even come with a coffee maker.

We booked this on hotels.com for a great price. Room had two bathrooms and two double beds. We had an extra guest and ordered a roll-away bed which was just as comfortable as a real bed. Hotel was so convenient to the museum and the red line. Would highly recommend.

The hotel is in an excellent location. Lobby is beautiful and friendly staff. However, the shower water pressure was very low and the beds queen beds seemed little. They had nice linens but seemed small and short.

My family and I were very impressed with the hotel staff and there knowledge of things to see and do in the chicago area. The location of the hotel was perfect for us, since we came to chicago on the Amtrak from Milwaukee to Union Station. It was a short walk to the Palmer House Hilton.
