This hotels is conveniently located near Legoland. Plenty of restaurants around. If you like to sit and dine There's a Bj'S Brewery Restaurant, Benihana (my personal favorite), Claim Jumper, Island Burger, and TGIF just to name a few that I saw. If you just want to drive through real quick, McDonalds, Jack In The Box, El Pollo Loco, Taco Bell, Starbucks […] and Subway are all close by. All in all it was a great stay with the husband and kids, feeding them was easy with all the choices, I was more disappointed with Legoland than the hotel...Gas Station, grocery store and drug store was really close as well. Staff was very friendly. We arrived late and left after bkfst. so did not use any facilities. Nice to have a continental bkfst. before we got back on the road and the bfst. was nicely done.

This hotel is clean, comfortable, and in a safe neighborhood. We have stayed here multiple times, and will continue to use it when we are in the area. They have a decent breakfast, the beds are very comfortable, and it's always clean. The staff is friendly, and accommodating. For a less expensive hotel, it's great!

The hotel room is very clean and comfortable. No complaints about the room. Although people whom stayed above us had quite the heavy feet. We could hear every footstep they took. Other then that, breakfast was pretty good! Had the usual toast, bagels, hard boiled eggs, cereals, make your own French waffles, coffee, juice, and milk. Our family went to Legoland for a birthday celebration. We occupied two rooms. The rooms were roomy, clean, and the service was great. The hotel was in the perfect location; quick on/off freeway plus less than two miles to Legoland. We enjoyed our stay and will definately stay here again!

The beds were comfortable. There is NO frills here. The outside of the hotel is a bit run down. The rooms were small. The breakfast was pretty good, cereals and homemade waffles. My kids love them. The bath tub had a draining party and they fixed it in 5 minutes. That was nice. For the price this was ok. I would stay there again.

My kids and I stayed over Spring break. Easy freeway access, but the freeway is the hotels backyard. Breakfast variety is good. The only other complaint would be the lights flickered ALOT!

Hotel had everything we needed for the night . But if we (1 adult and 3 kids) had to stay longer would find one with a larger vanity/bathroom area and more updated room decor. Hotel needs a makeover--very dated, jacuzzi spa needs updating, heating/ac is loud and difficult to adjust! But was pleased with continental breakfast, more than enough to eat […] and fresh. Mehr

My first room smelled like mold bad so i asked to change rooms. I had a bad headache after only being in there for awhile. the next room was not much better. The bathroom shower head was broke and the overall feel of the room seems dirty. The best part of the hotel is the staff is friendly but i would not recommend this hotel because of the cleanliness. […] It could use a remodel. This was actually our second staying here. It's close to Legoland and not far from San Diego. The hotel was clean and the staff was very nice. We were a late check-in and that wasn't a problem even though the hotel was sold out. If you do get a room that's close to the freeway, you can hear the cars and semi trucks going by, but not loud enough to […] keep you up at night. Overall, I would recommend the La Quinta Carlsbad and would have a problem staying there again. Mehr

The conversation coming through from the adjoining room was very loud. The connecting doors were not adequate to keep the noise out.

Okay for the money, but our room was closer to the highway an it was a bit noisy due to the road noise.

Budget price..decent hotel. Clean and basic. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. If you want to do Legoland on a budget, this might be the place for you. Outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi are a nice bonus for a travel-weary family. Also very close to the beach and restaurants. Carlsbad is lovely.

I was expecting alot more in the morning buffet... We left the Holiday Inn Express which had a very good breakfast, but the Inn was poor.

We booked this hotel for a San Diego visit becuase it was leass expensive than the San Diego central area, and besides it was available for last minute booking. (Most of the San Diego locations were sold out when we tried to make our last minute booking.) We found the location very easy to find and reach and the hotel was just fine for a quick stay...No […] complaints... Mehr

We wanted to extend our So. Cal visit by one day so I found this inexpensive room in the location we were looking for. It is close to the beach and our room was very clean. We requested a room away from the freeway to avoid the freeway noise. My only complaint is the air conditioning is not central air. It is a wall unit that would blast cold air for […] about 5 minutes and not go on again until the room was too warm - made it hard to sleep comfortably. Mid week breakfast is over at 9:30 (doors locked) so get there early or do not eat. I found this out after making it down at 9:30 with my two small children. I had to load them into the car and get breakfast elsewhere. Not bad for the price and last minute but next time I will pay more and get better. Mehr

VERY SATISFIED WITH THE ROOM AND HOTEL STAFF. OVERALL GREAT

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for the first time. We did not realize it is a dog-friendly hotel until at 5:30 am one of our "neighbor's" dog started barking and yapping. Naturally the owners woke up and started talking, in their normal voices so that all of the surroundings rooms could hear them. Our main issue, though, is the skimpiness of […] the bedding. We had a sheet, paper thin blanket and another sheet. We borrowed a blanket from the front desk in order to sleep without freezing. Other than this, though, our stay was fine. Mehr

Very clean, plenty of eats choices nearby, very safe neighborhood (Volvo dealership next door, really?), great for family with young children (make your own giant waffle!), San Diego sites within doable driving distance, good wifi, jacuzzi after walking all day at Legoland, I5 adjacent and loud but no prob in the room, bed a bit too soft for our preferences […] but that's just us, stayed 3 nights/4 days and WE WILL RETURN! Never having been to Carlsbad before, I wasn't sure what was available in the surrounding area as far as restaurants so I chose the La Quinta Inn because they offer more for continental breakfast than the regular muffins and cold cereal. As usual, satisfied again with breakfast. The hotel itself was very very nice and well maintained. It offers only […] outside entry but there is an elevator. We used 2 rooms and they were roomy and had an inside connecting door. The entire property and surrounding neighborhood is very well-maintained and very well lit and provided a sense of safety and security. I'd defiinitely return again. Mehr

Slightly tired and some freeway noise but a good deal.

We were surprised to get a huge suite at such a great price! A nice, short walk to the beach with Carlsbad and Leucadia located just a short drive away. Thoroughly happy with the La Quinta Inn.

Friendly Staff , comfortable beds and convenient location

Overall the hotel, room, service and location was adequate. We were place 2 rooms from the interstate when we could been positioned further away making the traffic noise less bearable....

We really enjoyed our stay at La Quinta. It was a very nice hotel. The bed was awesome, especially after a long day with the kids at Legoland! I really loved how friendly the staff was. It was everyone from the desk worker to housekeeping. My favorite was the nice lady that worked super hard to make sure the breakfast was great. Thank you so much!!

We needed a place to stay for the Carlsbad Marathon. Didn't want to spend a fortune, so we booked the La Quinta. Great service from Jonathan, the front desk clerk. Very clean room. Safe aparking area. Not super close to touristy things, but a short 10 minute drive to Carlsbad Village Drive. Overall, no disappointments.
