Red Roof Inn Columbus Downtown - Convention Center - Columbus

Issued a room that had a pile of dirty towels on the floor, etc . . . someone forgot to finish cleaning the room. Next room issued had a half eaten bagel on the windown sill . . . gave up at that point.

I though my stay was nice and a great deal. I was just disappointed that there wasn't more parking. I went to dinner and when I returned the lot was completely full because of a concert.. I didn't know that there was a concert and one would hope at 6:00 PM there would be parking

Great location, clean rooms, and friendly staff

Myself and my girlfriend were in town for the Eric Church concert on April 26, 2012, and I booked this hotel based solely on the reviews found on Hotels.com. I was not disappointed, and was in fact, pleasantly surprised. The hotel was only a 5 minute walk from Nationwide Arena and a short drive to any type of food that we could have asked for. The room […] was clean, the air conditioner worked well, the flat panel television was nice, the bathroom wasn't extravagant but it was clean and functional in every way. Hotel staff was friendly and allowed us to check in early. If you stay here, make sure to walk next door to the Flat Iron Bar and Grill for lunch or dinner. Fantastic food! For the price and location, this Red Roof can't be beat. Mehr

We had an event at Columbus State Community College, this hotel was just down the street (5 blocks) from the college. We didn't have to fight the morning traffic which was great, would stay again if we have any further events in downtown Columbus.

Walking distance to convention centre

We chose this hotel based on it's location in relation to COSI. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the front desk staff and were encouraged to take our time getting our luggage upstairs before moving our vehicle to the parking lot across the street. Upon entering our room I was surprised at how large the room was and its overall appearance. Most […] of the surfaces were dusty so that would be my biggest complaint but we had a great view of downtown Columbus. I was not thrilled with having to park across the street and having to pay a $10 surcharge for the parking but in downtown Columbus parking is difficult to come by. The neighborhood was nice and my husband and I took a long walk with our boys both the evening of our arrival and the following morning. Continental breakfast was decent though I would have liked to see some single serve boxes of cereal as there was nothing my twins would eat but I enjoyed my bagel and OJ. Checkout was quick and the morning staff was just as friendly as the evening staff. The desk clerk was very helpful in suggesting a location for a sit down breakfast and even gave us a discount coupon to COSI! It was an unexpected surprise which we appreciated very much! The hotel was clean, nice. We were assigned a corner room right next to the elevators, so we could hear them all of the time, but it was the last King non-smoking room available, so this means the hotel does their best not to put people in that room. We stayed here overnight on a trip to Iowa. We found the hotel pretty easy to locate and it also provided easy access to I-70 for the next leg of our trip. It looks like they've tried to recently remodel it, but I have some things that definitely bothered me about it and ultimately caused me to decide not to stay here on our return trip home: a) we […] asked 3 times for a pack-and-play for our daughter in addition to asking for it when we reserved the room a week prior. she wasn't able to go to sleep until after 10pm because that's when it was finally given to us. it seemed there was exactly one person working at the hotel, and he was quite forgetful. b) the sink area in our particular room (2 full-size beds) was so small. no room to put anything since the actual sink was raised up above the counter and took up all but a few inches on each side. i also had to hold my son up to brush his teeth because the sink was so high, and he still had a pretty rough time of it. ladies, forget putting your makeup or curling iron down! no room. c) we had no choice in the matter - we had to pay $10 per night for parking. this hotel did not have a parking lot! we were asked to use the private one across the street, and there is no crosswalk from the lot to the hotel. it made trying to unload luggage and children very tricky. they give you a 10 minute time limit on the few spots in front of the hotel, and somebody is always standing out there watching them to make sure you don't go over or you'll be towed. d) the breakfast was a joke, to be honest. some pre-packed danishes, muffins, and a juice machine. i expected them to at least have cereal or fresh fruit, but there was none. my kids were pretty hungry come lunch time. so were we. e) we found black hairs in our shower and the water stood in the tub. i had to take a shower in a puddle up to my ankles. overall, it was a good deal for the sale price we got it for, but just a little too inconvenient for our family. it is close to the Mehr

Hotel is downtown in the hotel/convention district. Safe area. My husband and I took a two mile walk after 11:00pm with no problems. Hotel staff polite, courteous, and professional. Room was decorative, updated, and comfortable. Bed did not sleep as well as I'd hoped-a 3 out of 5 on that. Breakfast was stark. No fruit. Only juice and muffins, plain […] bagels. Ok, this is a Red Roof Inn. My exectations were very low. But it was modernized, loft style room, spacious, clean, nice bed...pillows a little hard, but all in all very nice!

Loved the employees and cleaning staff! Loved the soap only made for Red Roof Inn. It didn't leave my skin dry. Was suprised of the $10 parking/day fee, but was only staying one day, and was good because the NCAA playoff's were in town. Would recommend to anyone and would stay again. Room were up to date and the furniture was too!

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The price was perfect for the convenience of being close to downtown. The hotel staff was very friendly. Clean and convenient, nice place to stay when attending confernence downtown.

I checked into my room only to find that the desk had not been dusted or cleaned. Then when I went to take a shower I discovered the carpet outside of the shower room was mildewed as if it had been wet and left to dry and not cleaned. I guess you get what you pay for. I won't stay here again

I recommend this Red Roof Inn for a lower cost alternative to the other downtown Columbus hotels. It is nicer than your typical Red Roof Inn, and unlike some of the other Red Roof Inns, the rooms do not open to the outside. There are interior hallways. It is in walking distance to many restaurants and bars, to Nationwide Arena, and to the Short North […] area. My one gripe is the fact that this Red Roof Inn, and it might be company wide, now charges you a $1.50 for the potential use of the safe in the room. Huh? Really? They tell you that if you don't use the safe, you can tell them that when you check out and they'll take the $1.50 charge off your bill. This is true, but why bother? It's more of a hassel and annoyance than anything else, and it seems pretty arbitrary. What's next, a charge to use the closet? Mehr

Staff was great. Nice layout with hardwood floors, mini fridge and microwave. . Clean. Parking was accross the street which they charged right to the room ($10/day) not bad compared to other parking near by. Stayed here to go to a concert at the life styles community pavilion around .7 miles away or about a 15-20 min. walk with sidewalks all the way. […] Would also be a great place for a blue jackets game. We stayed for 1 night and had a great experience. Unfortunately you do have to pay $10 for the night for parking, but it's the city so what do you expect. It is within walking distance of everything. There are hotels that are across the street for double the price and I am so glad we didn't pay that. This place was PERFECT!

Accidently ordered web that was not assessable. In room key board did not work. Called desk who told me to call toll free number. Was able to use wifi on my Kindle which was supposed to be free. Also did not know I was being charged to park my car in the lot across the street.

In a weeks' time, I stayed at two Red Roof Inns. The first was an old sytled outside entrance Red Roof. I considered that to be the lowest end of Red Roof. This Downtown Columbus Red Roof is the high end. It's more like a Hampton Inn or even better. New, beautiful rooms with hardwood floors, flat screen TVs, and nice furnishings. The beds are not […] the most comfortable, but good enough. Also, the continental breakfast is not as good as others. No waffles, no 'prepared' food. Just stuff in wrappers. Again, could be better, but good enough. For the area, the price is VERY good. You have to pay for parking, but so does everyone else in the area. Overall, a very good value. Mehr

Weird uncomfortable furnishings but clean. The heater was noisy and kept me up.

If attending an event at the convention center, this hotel is a great deal. The rate is reasonable, the rooms are modern and the staff was very helpful and friendly. It's just a short walk to the convention center, which isn't bad, assuming the weather cooperates. As mentioned in the other reviews, the parking situation is a major drawback. The advertised […] parking rate is for the hotel lot which has very limited spaces. The overflow lot is the convention center lot. Both lots are across a 4 lane street, with no crosswalk nearby. The hotel lot and the convention center lot are the same price to ENTER, but beware that you will be asked to pay an additional fee to EXIT the convention center lot if you leave your car there overnight (which you will, of course.) The hotel staff told us were the overflow lot was, but neglected to tell us about the additional fee to exit in the morning. Not cool. In the room itself, we were only provided with 1 bar of soap and nothing else, but maybe that is typical of a 2 star hotel? Also, the bed in our room was horribly uncomfortable and the sheets were scratchy. Having said all that, I would still recommend this hotel, as it was close to the convention center and the rate is very reasonable in comparison with other hotels nearby. Mehr

I joked that I would be staying at the "fancy" Red Roof Inn when telling my friends about staying in Columbus but it really was fancy! It was completely re-modeled and ultra modern. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast was perfect. Close to bars and restaurants. I will for sure stay here again when visiting Columbus. Great hotel […] ! Mehr

It was a great hotel! Very good cusomer service and very nice. Only downfall was the 10 dollars a night to park but wasn't bad and the walk across 4 lanes to hotel from parking.

Awesome place for a good deal!

Hands down this is my favorite hotel to stay at in Columbus. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful and have gone above and beyond from a service perspective when I've requested something from them. The location is super convenient to any activity downtown. I'm a DJ and come to Columbus to spin at a nightclub each month. This hotel is minutes […] from the Short North. Free wireless internet, free continental breakfast, and only $10/night for parking with full in/out priviledges...whereas every other hotel in the area is $23/night for valet. Love this hotel! Mehr

The hotel stay was one of my most comfortable stays.

I stayed this hotel several time, I always checked in during days, but Dec 12 I checked in at nite. This lady that was front desk she was mean, rude, if u can handle that go ahead but, I wouldn't recommend any one to check in at nite...

This is the nicest, most modern Red Roof you will ever see and it's just down the street from the Columbus "Arena District". I've stayed in Red Roof Inns before that were absolutely "ghetto-tastic". This one, well...you would never guess it was a Red Roof. The room had very modern styling and furniture. It is across the street from hotels costing 3-4 […] times as much. The only hassle is the parking. You have to get a voucher and then park across the street in a city lot for $10 a day. Make sure you park in the exact area sectioned off for RRI customers because they will charge you regular price if you don't. I made this mistake and then got into an argument with a VERY MEAN SPIRITED parking lot employee. Just be aware. Otherwise, this was a real steal and i would recommend it to anyone needing a nice place to stay in Columbus. Mehr

Our stay at the red roof was nice itself ...however the area was not safe at all. The morning after our stay we went to leave ( after paying for parking) to find our car windows( and 5 others) had been broken out. When we went to the front desk with panic they very calmly told us that happens all the time. If this is something that happens all the time […] they need to take safety procautions. We traveled to Columbus for a dance competition. Most of the teammates stayed at another hotel that was over double the RedRoof Inn's nightly price. Thankfully we came across The RedRoof Inn! We were less than a block up the street from the other hotel and the convention center is just across the street. I even had people who stayed at the other hotel […] say our room was just as nice as theirs, if not nicer. The only problem I had with my stay was the Continental breakfast was a little bare if you didn't get there bright and early and our room was right next to the elevator shaft so we heard the elevator all night. Otherwise, our stay was great. Clean room, clean halls, and very nice employees. Everyone greeted us with a smile and was very helpful with any questions we had. I would stay here again! Mehr

The hotel was very clean and spacious, and the breakfast was great. The beds were a bit hard, and apparently it was loud, according to my girlfriend, but I managed to sleep through it! I'd stay there again. It was very close to the hockey arena, and some other nice downtown attractions.

Right downtown. Great location and good value. Rooms are updated and are clean. Booked a room last minute and was very pleased.

Extremely close to all the wonderful things about Columbus, Nationwide Arena, Palace Theatre, COSI, Columbus Museum of Art, and the Short North, among many other things. Parking fee was minimal compared to having to park at any sort of meter. Wish the parking lot was right next to the building instead of across the street. Hotel Staff was super nice . Rooms were huge and clean and well kept . I was suprised to find out how nice this hotel really was . Never stayed at a Red Roof Inn , but will keep them in mind for my next trip .

Clean hotel,good price,close to nationwide and restaurants. Good p lace to stay if headed to a show for a night. Hotel is very modern. My ONLY issue is the parking lot across the street. Could be easy place for issues. Saw some broken windows.

The hotel was a great location for the price and being right downtown was nice. Nice decor and nice front desk people. you have to pay for parking which would really suck if I was in town longer but for one night it wasn't bad. Besides wishing the parking was free we had a nice stay and a good time in Columbus.

Recommend this hotel highly. Very close to I-70. Within easy walking distance to the Convention Center, choice eating establishments, and much more. Large, clean, comfortable rooms.

This hotel is in "The Arena District" and close to everything. Walking distance. Newer Facility. All the EXPENSIVE hotels are next door or across the street. Flatscreen t.v., high-speed internet access, comfortable bed. Room was smallish, but adequate for my wife and I. Average continental breakfast. Pretty nice hotel. The rooms are a little small but nothing terrible. The continental breakfast was juice and pastries but once again not terrible. The hotel decor was nice enough. The flat screen looked nice but I never got a chance to turn it on to see how the quality was. The hotel does NOT have free parking which was a bummer.
