Comfort Inn Airport South - San Mateo

Very pleased with hotel overall had everything I needed with friendly staff and a clean and comfortable room. Only complaint I would have is breakfast room too small for size if the hotel. Would 100% go back to the hotel upon my return to the area.

As the title says, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and price for this Comfort Inn compared to equitable hotels in the area. I have stayed overnight many times in the Bay Area and have been disappointed in poorly-maintained/costly hotels so many times, I can't begin to count. Great staff, room and hotel

We just stayed here because it was close to the airport and we didn't want to wake up early to drive. The hotel was nice enough for us. The bed was comfortable and the staff was nice. And I'll never turn down breakfast! The only thing that bothered me was the shower was weak....the water was luke-warm and the pressure was bad too.

Easy access to airport, clean and pleasant. Good breakfast.

I choose this hotel because of the location/shuttle for a short night layover - about 9 hours. The hotel staff was very nice, there were obvious attempts at keeping the hotel with some updates, however when I arrived at the hotel after a late flight at about midnight (with my 8 year old with me) there were three police cars sitting in front of the lobby […] arresting a female individual. I had made a mistake when booking and had accidently chosen a room with only one queen bed, which I did not notice until in the room. The hotel staff never said anything, never offering another room with two doubles considering I had a child with me - I would have paid an additional cost for this, a nd although not something that was required of the staff member, it would have been a welcomed foresight on their part. The room doors are on the outside of the building (like a motel - which I really hate) and our door did not feel as though it closed all the way. Although the locks appeared to work. Needless to say although my son slept I did not. Overall just an uneasy experience. Mehr

Free car parking, free breakfast, free internet, and a decent sized room with a window I could open for fresh air is all I needed - and this hotel met the bill adequately. The carpet on the room floor is a bit dated, as is the carpet in the hallway, and elevator is slow. Some rooms on the non-smoking floor reeked of smoke as you went by, but my room […] was smoke free. My room was missing a container for the coffee-maker, but I did not need it. I used the microwave in the room to heat water for my own tea. Hotel staff was friendly, and did their jobs well. On a budget, for four days, it was a good bargain! Mehr

Easy checking in, easy checking out, great Continental breakfast. Room is a great size, with a small fridge/freezer, microwave, and good bathroom size.

The staff for checking in was wonderful - The only thing I didn't care for was the general upkeep of the hotel - the door knobs to room were either very old, and or dirty - discolored and I almost left and went somewhere else - they are inside rooms and the general feeling gave me a uneasy feeling, but all went well except the tub/shower was so sqeeky […] - have never had one like it - every step caused it to squeek. One very positive thing - the shuttle over to the airport was EXCELLENT - very nice driver who was a total gentleman... Mehr

Friendly staff and a comfortable, clean room. Looked like it was newly remodeled. The front desk staff recommended the restaurant next door for a quick dinner before turning in for the night; it was very convenient and delicious with great service and affordable prices. Old, rooms on the highway - loud, scary, disgusting. Don't stay there!

Hotel was very nice for what we paid for. Room very nice and clean and mostly modernized except for the heating unit/AC unit. Elevator was a bit slow but other than that no complaints.

Stayed two nights at the Comfort Inn South Airport as we were having some work done in our house. Very helpful staff, lovely clean room, yummy pastries for breakfast, and lots of comfort. Just what I needed.

Nice, simple, quiet, good value. Lady at check-in was not very friendly.

Pros: The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean. Free shuttle to airport. Free breakfast bar. Cons: The offered wake-up call for the shuttle never happened. The door lock was badly fitted so the door only locked slightly open. The power socket was so loose that the room lamp and alarm had to have their pins bent to stay in the outlet. The rooms […] are average motel standard only. The shuttle driver was weird - he decided to divert off route for 10+ minutes into Burlingame to search for an open coffee shop at 6.30 on a Sunday morning, before delivering the passenger to the hotel... An OK hotel in a pinch. Scrambled eggs were hard by the time I got to them, but I needed a hotel at the last minute and it served the purpose.

The woman at the front desk was extremely rude to both myself and to another guest who clearly needed something but did not speak clear English. She made no effort to assist. The room, location, and everything about the place was mediocre. Good for a night sleep, nothing more.

The hotel was basically as to be expected at the price offered. I was a little concerned however, when at one point I misplaced my room key, and when I asked for a replacement one at the front desk, I was given it - without her even asking for my name to verify who I was (and I had never seen this desk clerk before even!).

Was in a bot of a jam and needed to get a room quick. Was very surprised by the size and cleaniness of the room and bathroom. Also enjoyed the breakfest. Was inside of the East Building and away from the street so it was quite for me. In a pinch I would stay there again.

Access from the freeway is not very good, but I give it 4 stars because the girl worked hard to provide breakfest to all.

I chose this hotel based on the location and price. I had an early morning flight departing from SFO and needed a place to stay which was close to the airport (about 10 minutes by car) and was not too expensive. I checked-in at 11PM and checked-out at 5AM so I didn’t really get to evaluate the hotel’s amenities. Reception staff very friendly and helpful […] and everything is the room worked well. I didn’t get a chance to try the complimentary breakfast, but did enjoy in-room coffee maker. The only down-side was the WiFi -- useable, but not great. I would stay again for another over-nighter. The hotel might have been alright, given the price, but the breakfast area was way too small and the large group of students (25+) staying there overtook it every morning. The front desk staff was not very efficient when we checked in, preferring to trade quips with another person they obviously knew who was going to stay for the night. Also, the 2nd […] day, the room smelled as if a skunk had been around the inside of the room, which did not go away over night. Cheap, but probably a better hotel is likely to be down the block or two. Mehr

Air conditioner and refrigerator were very noisy, expected maybe a little room service for meals(there were none), wake up call was delayed.

We stayed here 4 nights, because it was close to the airport, plus the parking is free. Our room was very clean, although the door lock was broken. The outside building and outside hallways were dirty. Didn't seem like they cleaned those. Staff was very nice, and we would stay here again. Hopefully they clean up the outside by then.

Pros: location is great. Right off the 101 and close to Caltrain. Cons: awful bed, room smelled of stale smoke (despite being marked as a non-smoking room), not a single staff member spoke English comfortably, grounds littered with cigarette butts, garbage and even broken eggs. I even had to do a double take on the last one. There were literally broken […] eggs outside a stairwell for a full three days. NO one bothered to keep the grounds clean. Of particular note is the absolutely awful bed. I have never slept on anything this uncomfortable. I couldn't wait to get back home to my 15 year-old worn mattress. The only way I'm staying here again is if every other hotel in the Peninsula has no rooms available. Mehr

I was most disappointed that the shuttle stopped running at midnight. our flight was delayed 2 hours and so we had to take a taxi when we arrived costing us $25. We could have put the $25 toward a nicer & closer hotel to the airport if we knew we had to spend it anyway. Hotel is well located. Many great restaurants nearby. We'll definitely stay again. Had difficulty finding the lobby. It's a bit tucked away. Stay was very nice and quiet.

Terrible experience, poor room. All I can say is "you get what you pay for." The only good part of this room was the rate. The front desk was terrible. The room on the top floor overlooking the highway was noisy. When I tried to figure it out, it was becasue of the 1/3 of an inch gap between the door and and doorframe. Most of the noise was coming through […] there. When I called down to the front desk to see if they had another room, I was told "No." No sorry, no whatever, just No. If you expect something other than a decent rate form this hotel you'll be disappointed. Chose this motel for central location to bay area. Easy access to freeways. Room was on the small side but nice and quiet and the bed was excellent for this price. Breakfast was adequate yet simple. I had no complaints over the three night stay. Everything was as expected.

One of the best hotel in low amount. This hotel is far better than the hotels in SFO downtown in same amount and you will get healty breakfast.
