Die zuerst angebotenen Zimmer im Untergeschoss waren unbefriedigend. Schlechter Geruch. Nach Rücksprache mit der Reception wurden uns andere Zimmer zugeteilt die in Ordnung waren.

Das Hotel hat seine besten Zeiten hinter sich. Für einen drei Nächte Aufenthalt war es in Ordnung.

Für eine Nacht und den Preis i.O., für längeren Aufenthalt nicht zu empfehlen, da das Hotel dringend einer Renovierung bedarf. Die Teppichböden in den Zimmern z.B. mochten wir nicht barfuß begehen. Die Lage an der Ostküste ist praktisch und die Küste schön. Im Preis war die Ressortfee nicht enthalten - ich finde es immer problematisch, wenn Pftlichtpreise […] noch zum bereits gebuchten Zimmerpreis vor Ort dazugeschlagen werden. Uns wurde die Fee erlassen, weil wg. Straßenarbeiten im ganzen Hotel ab 22 Uhr bis morgens kein Wasser lief (und wir um 21.30 h ankamen...). Mehr

Leider hat das Hotel seine besten Zeiten hinter sich. Der Teppich ist uralt und die Zmmersafes sind außer Betrieb. Das Personal war allerdings sichtlich bemüht die Mängel auszugleichen und sorgte für eine freundliche und entspannte Athmosphäre.

Für uns war das Hotel ideal. Wir waren auf Besichtigungs/Abenteuer-Tour auf den Hawaiianischen Inseln unterwegs und als Ausgangspunkt zu Wanderungen durch den Waimea Canyon und an der Na Pali Küste entlang war die Lage ideal. Auch für alle anderen Aktivitäten und Sehenswürdigkeiten auf der Insel war das Hotel als Ausgangspunkt super. Liegt etwas außerhalb […] von Lihue direkt am Strand, nicht weit davon ist schon der nächste Ort, wo es dann auch ein Einkaufszentrum mit allen wichtigen Dingen wie Supermarkt etc. gibt. Bei der Ankunft an der Reception wurden wir zuerst nichtmal begrüsst, auf die Frage ob wir wohl einchecken könnten hiess es, wir sollten uns erst einen Moment gedulden. Wir kamen uns ziehmlich blöd vor, das Personal war ziehmlich überfordert, da Zimmer nicht gereinigt waren und diverse Gäste reklamierten. Als wir dann endlich einchecken konnten, hiess […] es, wir müssten noch 15$/Tag bezahlen (Frühstück, WIFI, Zeitung). Das Hotel an sich ist recht heruntergekommen und wird nicht gepflegt - müsste dringend renoviert werden (alte Teppiche, Schäden etc.). Wir wollten erst gleich wieder abreisen, entschieden und dann aber doch zu bleiben, da das Zimmer sauber und recht gross war. Insgesamt ist das Hotel aber nicht zu empfehlen. Mehr

Grosse Zimmer, leider war das Aufraeumen und Zimmer sauber machen nicht die Staerke. Lage sehr gut nahe am Flughafen und Ausflugorten. Das waren die Maengel aber Kauai ist absolut der Hit und man ist ja da um die gegend und die Beaches zu erforschen.

Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Ocean View und waren total begeistert vom Zimmer und der Lage. Wir hatten auch Blick auf die Napili Beach, vom Lärm direkt vom Strand bekommt man nur sehr wenig mit. Der Weg zur Beach ist kurz und es gibt mehrere Duschen. Das Zimmer ist sehr schön eingerichtet und die Küche ist in einem Top-Zustand mit Geschirrwaschmaschine. […] Der Garten und Poolbereich sind auch sehr schön und können bis 22Uhr benützt werden. A bit dated, could do with major updating. Cost was approx £75 per night, not cheap but not overly expensive either. Could do with a hot breakfast for that price rather than continental. Was expecting garlands upon arrival by Hula Hula girls but disappointed that didn't happen! :) The lift was looking really old and bad, had a wooden door to replace […] a wooden one. The room was damp and smelled like a wet dog. Staff was kind and helpful, and the free redbox rentals are a nice perk. The Aston Aloha was probably a really nice hotel in the 70s or 80s, but it's visibly falling apart and is dark and sad today. Can't beat the price, but that's for a reason.

the hotel is close to Lydgate Park and to the ocean and has a beautiful outwardly the rules were not that good because of the windows would not open and we're not clean the TVs did not work well at all service was excellent front desk people were excellent

Not good value for what you get even though the rates seemed inexpensive. This hotel is old and poorly maintained. There is a $15 a day resort charge on top of the nightly rate that includes a continental breakfast, wifi in the lobby, a newspaper, and 2 DVD rentals. The breakfast included 1 slice of pineapple, 1 slice of papaya and one tiny danish that […] were all day old and dry, but you can upgrade to the buffet for an additional $15 of course! The buffet didn't look all that appealing either. The playstation and DVD's didn't work properly and the sound cable was so awful you couldn't have watched a movie even if it did work. the only issue was the hard bed, we fixed that by putting the sofa bed mattress as a pillowtop. room needed aired out as does all closed up rooms in Kauai, overall the cottage was fantastic and pleasant.I would stay there again because of the PERFECT location and the cottage was private.

"old-school" in a good way. Well-maintained property, clean room. Very pleasant staff, seem to care about their hotel and your experience there. Bathroom had sink outside shower/toilet room, which is convenient. Beds were too soft for my taste, but fairly nice quality sheets, and when you are tired it all feels good. Beach within walking distance, w/ playground. Especially liked the polynesian-style vaulted ceiling of dining room, and open-air lobby. Keep in mind this is an older hotel, not dirty, but not what most people expect from Aston. That being said, the beds are ok, all of the rooms are dated, think 1970's. But it is clean, and safe. The service is good, the free breakfast coupons are ok, but to upgrade to the buffett is not worth it, and they will charge a daily fee for the free breakfast […] and internet, which is only available in the lobby. (yes you read that right) The hotel is close to Lihue and Kappa, and right next to Lydgate state park with is a great place to BBQ and surf. I wouldn't go back to the Aston, the food and dining service were poor, and expensive, shop around and see what else is out there, Mehr

The rooms are basic and clean. The overall hotel needs an update. Their extra $15.00 charge for certain things such as the coffee in the room and continental breakfast/wifi in lobby..not worth it. Stayed at the Kauai Beach Resort next and must say that was worth the extra money.

$15 resort fee is a farce..you get nothing. Breakfast is a joke. (1 small piece of pineapple and papaya and a cup of coffee - do you call that a breakfast ????).. No internet in the room. You have to go to lobby to access internet. Very dirty carpet in the room. They were very short handed in terms of toiletries, in room coffee etc. But I guess you […] get what you pay for.. Our room was a basic hotel room, but we could see the water. It's an older hotel, but we had no complaints on cleanliness . We checked in late due to long flight. Only one clerk on duty. She was having lots of problems with checkins because of new computer system and key cards were't working. Same issue when we checked out the next day.

We arrived late in the evening, they were quick to get us to our room and very pleasent. Our room was dated but clean and comfortable. I loved the openness of everything. It was quiet and very friendly, centrally located for shopping.The hot tub and pool were very clean. On arrival, I was charged $15.62 per day besides what I originally paid for room on booking. They said that was resort fee or amenity fee which I thought was not justified. The room window looks like not cleaned for a long time,and wall paintings on many places were faded.

Hotel Rooms were spacious and pretty clean. This hotel is a short walk to the beach which is nice. Hotel has dining area. Misleading extra fee charge non optional for continental breakfast which is a slice of fruit and a small cinnamon roll. Would stay again

The staff was pleasant. The grounds were the best part. The carpet was old and dirty. The pools were not very clean. The hotel hosted 2 big concerts on Friday and Saturday night with no notice while booking, Is the only concert venue on the island from what the locals told me. Could not sleep due to very loud music and crowd noises from 9-1am. Could […] not attend the concerts as the notice I received, the day of, failed to mention you needed tickets ahead of time. The restaurant and lounge close early otherwise, couldn't get a snack or drink there after 8pm. The continental breakfast is a sliver of fruit and a cinnamon roll the size of my palm, very small. Stayed at Courtyard Marriot at Coconut beach last time for close to the same price and it blew this hotel away. Will not stay at the Aston again. Mehr

The Aston for all my low rankings is a hotel that is simply past it's prime, appears to have never in the 40 years it's been opened to have had any upgrades and does not seem to care. It is very centrally located, but they charge an additional $10 a day resort fee as if they were timeshares are a resort. This is not a resort, it's a last resort. The […] staff are friendly and I think they give it their best shot for what the owner has left them to work with. But with amenities such as painted over mold in the rooms and long black hairs all over the floors along with bedspread that feel like they haven't been laundered since the 70's you'd be better off somewhere else if you can afford it. I never complained to the staff because these were things that seemed beyond their control however, the owner shoud be fined for numerous code violations. Mehr

We stayed two nights and our stay was ok. Unfortunately the women working behind the reception are not polite at all. I am really sorry to say that but we had the impression they don't want to help uss neither it was ok that we would like to check in. Kind of "oh no, additional work for us". To offer WiFi, and, only have access to it in the lobby in front of the desk was disappointing. And, I chose a room with a King-Sized bed with a pull-out Sofa bed. The sofa bed was not even made , nor, did it even have sheets to make. I would figure that the only reason the price of the room was economical was that it was the off season.

Hotel dated and rundown. Breakfast "included" in price of room was 2 small pieces of melon and a dry pastry and coffee. No substitutions. Upon arrival, were informed there was an additional "leisure" fee - for coffee in the room, newspaper and use of pool facilities.

The people at the front desk let me stand in line for 10 minutes while they took incoming calls. They did not say "I will be with you in a minute" or make any other attempt to acknowledge our presence. In addition they put a $15.00 ";amenity fee" on out stay that was not mentioned anywhere on the hotel.com site. I was not aware of this fee before I […] arrived at the hotel. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Room was pretty clean. Smallissue we had was a slow draining sink. Not a huge deal though. There was an "amenities fee" which covered WiFi but that was ONLY in the lobby and not in the rooms.
