Oasis Hotel - Giza 30.0139, 31.1022

Standard des Hotels ist ok, Zimmer sauber, Betten teilweise etwas durchgelegen, Frühstück mittelmäßig, Servicepersonal bescheiden freundlich. Gut für Familien mit Kindern oder als Kurzaufenthalt zur Pyramidenbesichtigung. Kostenloser shuttle nach Kairo,für häufigere Wege nach Kairo würde ich jedoch ein Stadtnäheres Hotel bevorzugen. Ruhige Lage!

The Oasis was a nice local resort hotel. The beds were just fair and the guest services desk could use some training, but the pool and the resturants were very nice, and the location was just a 10 minute cab ride to the Great Pyramids... Overall we enjoyed the property.

I stayed at "Oasis Pyramids" (as the taxis call it) for a week with my wife for our honeymoon. We were there in summer (early June), so I can't really comment on any crowds (I imagine they're much worse at cooler times of the year). The hotel itself has several restaurants, which are really just different menus that you can choose from, but the prices for meals were less than what you would pay for similar quality in the states. The food wasn't spectacular, but it certainly wasn't bad either. We had a refridgerator in the room, but no microwave or oven, so saving leftovers from the hefty servings was a bit of a pain. The breakfast was a little sub-par, but is complimentary, and has lots of wonderful breads and a few pastries. Stay away from the cereal though--I didn't get a drop of cold milk all week. In fact, the only cold thing I had all week (aside from leftovers) was the local Stella beer, which isn't anything to write home about. The pool is pleasant, but closes quite early. To make up for it, they place a giant fountain sprinkly thing in it with lights that is quite pretty after dusk, which makes dining poolside a much more pleasant experience. I can't comment on the night club or any of the activities that were provided later in the evening (belly dancer) except to say that they were too late for us to attend--most of our (unassociated with the hotel) tour guide activities were early in the day and prevented us from attend an event at midnight. Every afternoon--or nearly every day at least--they fumigate the entire grounds with a bad smelling bug-killing spray, which fortunately dissipates quickly. The five-minute inconvenience is well worth it. The captain/concierge was particularly helpful, and most of the staff has a decent grasp on English, or will at least grab someone else nearby who does if they do not. We were allowed to stay on the hotel grounds after we had checked out, since our flight wasn't until about 10 hours later, which was nice
