Das Hotel ist sehr gut. Die Fenster sind leider nicht schalldicht so dass die Zimmer zur ringroad nicht zu empfehlen sind. Das Personal koennte besser Englisch sprechen bzw. es sprechen zu wenig Endlisch.

Mein Freund und ich haben uns für einen 4-tägigen Aufenthalt in Peking für das "Jade Youth Hostel" entschieden. Zunächst waren wir ein wenig verwirrt - laut Google Maps befindet sich das Hostel nämlich in der Verbotenen Stadt, und das schien doch recht unwahrscheinlich. Allerdings ist die Lage sehr gut - vor allem für den Preis! Es gibt zwei Subway Stationen die je weniger als 20 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt sind (Dengshikou und Wangfuijing). Zur Verbotenen Stadt/Tian'namen Square läuft man etwa 30 Minuten. Praktischerweise ist das Hotel auch ausgeschildert - sonst hätten wir es wahrscheinlich nicht gefunden. Im Hostel selber waren alle nett und sprachen ausreichend Englisch. Wir hatten ein Doppelzimmer gemietet, und das war schlicht aber sauber. Wir hatten Glück und waren direkt über der Lobby, so dass wir auf unserem Zimmer WiFi hatten. Der große Flachbildfernseher hat uns jetzt nicht sooo viel gebracht, weil nur einer von 60 Kanälen auf Englisch war. Da wir im März gereist sind (bei knapp über 0°C) war es sehr angenehm, dass das Zimmer einen Lüfter in der Decke hatte. Alles in allem würde ich das Jade Hotel jedem empfehlen der günstig und zentral in Peking übernachten möchte!
Lage
The Peninsula Beijing liegt in Peking, Dongcheng/Wangfujing, in der Nähe der folgenden Sehenswürdigkeiten: Dongdan, Tiananmen-Platz und Verbotene Stadt. Zu den weiteren Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Nähe gehören: Zhongguo Lishi Bowguan und Renmin Dahuitang.
Ausstattung
Die Unterkunft The Peninsula Beijing verfügt über folgende Annehmlichkeiten: Wellnesscenter, Fitnessstudio und Innenpool. Ein kostenloser Highspeed-Internetzugang (W-LAN und Kabel) steht in den öffentlichen Bereichen zur Verfügung. Zu den Annehmlichkeiten für Geschäftsreisende in dieser 5-Sterne-Unterkunft zählen: Businesscenter, Tagungsräume für kleine Gruppen und Limousinenservice. Dieses Hotel verfügt über folgende gastronomische Angebote: 2 Restaurants sowie Coffee-Shop/Café und Bar/Lounge. Das Hotelpersonal hilft Ihnen gerne bei allen Fragen weiter. Zimmer
Die Zimmer bieten Aussicht auf die Stadt. Die 525 klimatisierten Zimmer der Unterkunft The Peninsula Beijing bieten folgende Ausstattung: Minibars und Zimmersafes. Neben einem 42-Zoll Plasmafernseher sowie Premium-Satellitenfernsehen sind die Zimmer mit folgenden Angeboten und/oder technischen Geräten ausgestattet: DVD-Player. Alle Unterkünfte bieten folgende Ausstattung: Schreibtische, kostenlose Zeitungen und Direktwahltelefone mit Voicemail; kostenlose Ortsgespräche sind ebenfalls inbegriffen (möglicherweise gelten Einschränkungen). Gästen steht ein kostenloser Highspeed-Internetzugang (W-LAN und Kabel) im Zimmer zur Verfügung. In allen Zimmern stehen den Gästen Kaffee-/Teekocher und kostenloses Mineralwasser zur Verfügung. Die Bäder sind wie folgt ausgestattet:Handbrausen, Fernseher, Personenwaagen und Bademäntel. Weitere Annehmlichkeiten sind: Hausschuhe und Kosmetikspiegel. Das historische Viertel Dongcheng beheimatet zahlreiche Sehenswürdigkeiten und kulturelle Schätze, wie den Tiananmen-Platz und die Verbotene Stadt (Palast-Museum). Im Süden befindet sich die Wangfujing Street, eine berühmte Einkaufsstraße, die zum größten Teil für motorisierte Fahrzeuge gesperrt ist. Hier gibt es noch über 200 Jahre alte Pekinger Traditionsgeschäfte wie das Teehaus "Wuyutai" und den Hutladen "Shengxifu".

"HORRIBLE AIR!"
The worst thing about this hotel is the most significant reason NOT to stay there: terrible air! Though we were on a non smoking floor the air in our room almost constantly smelled of cigarette smoke. In retrospect we should have changed hotels once we detected the problem. OR we should have heeded the comments of previous guests who complained of the […] same problem and not reserved there to begin with. We detected cig smell in our first room, which we had to switch due to a different malfunction in the room, but we thought the cig smell was specific to that room. Our 2nd room happened to smell fine when we moved into it, but that was temporary. Especially with the pollution outside in Beijing you EXPECT a top hotel to provide air filtration inside. Not so with the Peninsula. Steer clear if you're not a smoker. Mehr

"Disappointed"
Does not live up to the brand - Peninsula. Service not up to par with other Peninsula hotels and hotel is dated. Still 4+, but not 5+ as most Peninsula properties are.
"Good Hotel for Business, very central"
Stayed 9 days for Business. Good room, well maintained. The hotel itself is not as new as other places in Beijing but the condition of everything is excellent. Very good restaurant, quite an Oasis when you get tired of Chinese food. Only issue was undergoing construction in one of the boutiques downstairs, which was bothersome. (Noise, smell). The […] hotel did never mention the inconvenience and mostly pretended it was not happening. It was not too bad, though and they did try to contain the construction site well. My favorite hotel in Beijng. Close to Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Wangfuging shopping street. Excellent service to detail by a staff fluent in English. An example of detail--I left a book on the nighttable and after my room was cleaned they left a bookmark on the book. Not a big deal, but indicative of the attention they pay to your comfort. Great […] place for businessmen as well. Restaurants are expensive, but there is an excellent food court across the street and the Wangfujing food street is a short walk. Mehr

"Five real stars"
This is a true five star hotel and a proud member of the Peninsula family. Only downside I saw was the slow internet, but that's how it is in China..

We just spent four wonderful days at this hotel. The hotel was gorgeous, the room very comfortable and beautiful and clean. The staff was very friendly and extremely accomodating and helpful. And the surrounding shopping area was very convenient. We spent one day walking to Tiennamen Square and shopping, so this was well appreciated. "Did not meet expectation"
We flew directly from US to Beijing and were exhausted by the time we got there around 4pm. We couldn't check into our hotel room until 6pm. The reason given to us was that the guests stayed in our hotel room checked out really late and the room wasn't ready. They told us to hang out at the bar but didn't offer to pay for anything. Plus, everything […] was over-priced. Breakfast is $50 per person per meal. All the drinks were expensive. Additionally, the air inside the hotel was nasty (more like moldy smell). We got non-smoking room yet we still can smell smoke. The room size was smaller than expected although they are all functional. When I had a problem connecting my computer to the broadband and called the front desk, within five minutes a staff person from the business office came to my room to solve the problem. "Meet expectations"
The peninsula meets all expectations. There is no better thing you can say about a 5*-hotel, because expectations are set high. Good location, perfect service. (Only thing not perfect: a lot of disturbances by room cleaning girls during the time that we stayed inside our room).

"Difficult to get Taxi from this location."
Peninsula Beijing is not as grant as I hoped. It is no better than a Renaissance or a Hilton. I am not impressed by the lobby or the pool. The ground floor is filled with lux brand stores with few customers. There are only a few chairs available to sit if you don't buy a drink in the lobby area. Theorectically, it is a good location, close to Forbidden […] City and Wangfujing (shopping center). But getting a taxi is difficult because lots of taxi drivers do not like the traffic congestions in the area. Some staff struggle with English, but there are Indian staff on-site during daytime to help. Overall, I will not give a 5 star. I think the hotel will have trouble competing in the future because a Waldoff is being built down the street. Mehr

The Peninsula is a beautiful hotel and we had a spacious suite, however, we requested a nonsmoking room and even though we were on a non-smoking floor, the HVAC system brought in very strong cigarette fumes -- it was like living in an ashtray -- they did not have a comparable room to move us too, so we had to change hotels. This is a great place to stay regardless of where you are travelling to. The hotel staff is very helpful and wonderful to deal with. We love staying at the Peninsula and have stayed at some of their other locations in the past. Highly recommend.

Winter rate is fabulous---includes many complimentary extras. But check your bill---they will put local phone calls on the bill and then refuse to take them off until you show them the Winter rate special includes them. If this is your first time in Beijing, this could be a good choice. It is close to the Forbidden City and other sights. The service is nowhere near what I have come to expect from 5 star hotels.

"Peninsula Beijing--Ideal location & great staff"
I knew little of travel in Beijing and spoke no Chinese so the Peninsula was an fantastic choice for my travel. The location close to Tiananmen Square was ideal and the hotel staff spoke impeccable English. Additionally the concierge staff went above and beyond with my every need including booking flights on future travel throughout China. Additionally […] the availability of private tours through the hotel made my trip far more enjoyable than had I booked more traditional group tours. The restaurants in the hotel were also first rate which provided excellent alternatives to dining out after a long day. For travel to Beijing, the Peninsula lived up to its rating and I would definitely stay here again on a return to China. Mehr

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Its very convenient, close to numerous sights, easy to get around. The overall facilities were top notch. The personnel bent backwards to assist us. Here again theyl was very professionnel and made our stay very enjoyable in every fashion. Spent 3 days at this hotel after a business trip and found it to be top notch in every way. Everyone is very professional, service is cordial and make you feel they are sincerly happy you are staying at the Peninsula. A bit pricy but well worth the addtional cost.

Service outstanding, room beautiful and comfortable, free internet. I would not spend the extra $45 per person for buffet breakfast -- nothing special. The cantonese restaurant in the hotel, Huang Ting is extraordinary. The dim sum weekend brunch is exquisite and affordable.
