Bewertet von einem Hotels.com-Gast am 8. Jan. 2013Der Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm, wir waren positiv überrascht von dem schönen Zimmer. Die Vermieterin ist sehr nett und man bekommt ein leckeres Frühstück. Die Lage ist gut und ruhig, direkt in der Nähe des Cottage ist ein toller historischer Pub mit leckerem Essen und Bier "The Green Dragon", sehr zu empfehlen. Man kann ab dem Cottage wandern. Stonehenge ist mit dem Auto schnell erreicht und Salisbury liegt direkt nebenan auch sehr schön. Alles in allem ein rundes Gesamtpaket und sehr empfehlenswert.

Bewertet von einem Hotels.com-Gast am 12. Dez. 2012Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt. Sauber und angenehm Familiär. Gut gelegen für Entdeckungstouren auf der Insel. Feines Englisch Frühstück. Der Parkplatz ist jedoch etwas eng und nur für Kleinfahrzeuge geeignet. Weiter zu empfehlen!

Bewertet von einem Hotels.com-Gast am 14. Nov. 2012Wir waren 4 Nächte im Argyle Lodge in ein Doppelzimmer mit Bad und sehr zufrieden. Innenstadt und Bahnhof sind zu Fuß leicht zu erreichen. Die Betten waren sehr bequem,das Frühstück war super lecker und alles war sauber. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder da übernachten wenn wir nach Southampton reisen.

Bewertet von einem Hotels.com-Gast am 8. Nov. 2012Das Hotel ist schon etwas älter, hat jedoch das gewisse etwas. Das Zimmer war sehr groß und schön eingerichtet und auch sehr sauber. Zum Duschen musste man allerdings in eine hohe Badewanne steigen. Für mich als kleine Person etwas umständlich. Das Hotel liegt nahe der Kathedrale und der Innenstadt. Ein Parkplatz ist ca. 300 m vom Hotel entfernt und ist schnell zu erreichen, muss jedoch extra bezahlt werden. Das Frühstück umfasst englisches Frühstück, das für jeden Gast frisch zubereitet wird sowie ein Büfett mit Gebäck, Jogurt, Müsli, frischen Früchten, Säften und Heißgetränken.

"Good hotel, but be careful of cost of food"
This was a great place to stag for our small family of 3. Our 3 year old really liked it and it is 15 minutes from Paulton Park (Pepper pig world), which is equally good. Only downside on the hotel was the cost of breakfast. The cost for adults was around £15 each for breakfast. However we only have small breakfasts. So I chose to drive to the local […] Costa Coffee each morning as we could do breakfast for under £10 total. This was an inconvenience because I would have been happier rolling out of bed and going to breakfast in the hotel. But I thought £15 for a bowl of cereal and piece of toast was excessive. It is most unusual that I would say this but everything about the hotel was great, as above. In addition, the food in the restaurant and in the bar was delicious! "Friendly hotel and comfortable rooms"
Staff were very helpful and attentive. Our room was warm and cosy but unfortunately our sleep was disturbed by the door to the next corridor ( which was outside our room) being open and shut throughout the night, it also squeaked annoyingly, ear plugs helped on the 2nd night! The spa was relaxing on the first day as we were only sharing it with one […] other couple, the 2nd day we didn't use it as it was full of screaming children, jumping and splashing into the pool. The pool was very small, the sauna and steam room were good. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere with the staff being very attentive. Unfortunately it was very expensive and we could only afford to eat there on our first night. Had we seen the prices before we sat down we would have gone elsewhere. There were some really lovely gastro pubs in the local area and we ate at the Robin Hood which was just down the road. Very reasonably priced and delicious food. "Honest review."
I stay in 5 star hotels through work all the time. This stay was for me and my partner on a budget. This is a busy hotel, (it is a hotel after all). The staff were excellent from "Emma" on the reception who got our room ready early to the very mannerly breakfast staff. The breakfast was also excellent. The room was clean with no issues. Ok looking at […] the corridors you can see it is a little tired. There was a large wedding party of mainly youngsters with all the usual issues. As I was sat in reception waiting for my room I observed the staff deal with them very well indeed. This is not five star but I have no complaints at all, highly recommended. If you want to have a relaxing time - find somewhere else, this hotel is a wedding mill. In the 2 days there we saw at least half a dozen weddings.The common areas in the hotel are worn and not attractive. "Good hotel if you have a car"
We have used this hotel on our return from the cruise. Main reason fro choosing this hotel was to relax for a couple of days outside the city and use spa and golf. Anybody thinking of staying in this hotel needs to keep in mind that to get most put of it they need a car. Otherwise, it is possible to use taxi to go places or a train. The Spa sort of […] has its own life separate fro the hotel. During 3 days of our stay it was fully booked, even so the hotel did not seem to be that busy. The Golf course is vey nice but also very busy. It is worse to note that the hotel has no lift, the help with luggage is given. It has not climate control in a room, only heating, so if it gets worm the only solution is an open window. Breakfast was OK, typical British breakfast, nothing fancy, food in a bar was also OK but a bit expensive. The best solution would be to eat out, but it needs a car. It is possible to rent a car from the hotel, we did not try it though. The room was good, good size with a very comfortable big bad and good pillows. MehrAuthentische Expedia-Gästebewertung

I was sorry to read that you found the hotel to be tired and that your dinner undercooked. We do have a very robust maintenance plan for the hotel and we have just spent over £100,000 in new facilities. These include a new state of the art gym and are about to complete work on a new sauna and steam room and I would like to assure you of our commitment to investing and maintaining this property. I will certainly speak with our new executive chef regarding your food and I know he will be keen to ensure there is not a repeat of this. With regards to the £1.00 charge this is a discretionary charge and would have immediately been removed from the bill upon request. As a group, Macdonald Hotels are keen to support 4 charities and along with holding yearly charity events we invite our guests to support these charities also. We fully understand and support those who chose to support other causes and I am sorry that this had an impact on your stay with us. I hope to be able to welcome you back to the hotel and I am sure you would find the hotel to your satisfaction.

"wonderful location"
This was a wonderful hotel, in a beautiful location. The only minus if you have a lot of luggage is that there are no elevators. Highly recommend this as a stay if you have business in Southampton. The front desk recommended the Robin Hood Pub, located near by for lunch and that was sensational! Overall a very nice stay, and we will definitely be b […] ack.
