The Blackstone Renaissance Chicago Hotel - Chicago

wONDERFUL HOTEL. OUTSTANDING STAFF. ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT THE BED ONLY HAD A QUILT/COMFORTER FOR COVERING AND THAT WAS TOO HOT. A TOP SHEET WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT.

Our room was clean and comfortable, though our TV reception was terrible. TV wasn't our focus, so this was a minor detail. Loved being across the street from Grant Park for sightseeing walks. Appreciated the Starbucks in the building and had loads of fun in the restaurant Mercat. Excellent specialty drinks and sangria plus courteous staff. Pleasant […] walking distance from the Artist's Cafe, Chicago Cultural Center and all that Grant Park offers. We enjoyed the elegant yet laid-back atmosphere at the restaurant's bar so much we wish it had stayed open later. We probably wouldn't have left the building looking for evening doings. Mehr

only one change would I make: a fan in the bathroom. It's a stylish bath with a sliding opaque glass door, and odors escape, if you catch my drift.

Had a stylish, good-sized room with a beautiful, large bathroom. Exceptionally quiet - good for a business traveler. Hotel staff was very responsive - had a problem with water not hot enough and the engineer was at my room in 5 minutes and problem was fixed.

Because this was a family vacation, I chose this hotel due to its proximity to museum campus. The hotel and our room were lovely, with a wonderful view of the lake. Unfortunately, with a few very notable exceptions, I found the majority of the staff unfriendly and/or indifferent. Our stay at The Blackstone Renaissance in Chicago was exemplary. The location was key to why we were there and the staff couldn't be more professional, friendly and courteous.. We will definitely stay there again and a must referral for a great hotel on Michigan Avenue. Thank you for a great experience!

This hotel was very nice, although the people that help you...That is a whole different story. They did not greet us or welcome us to the hotel. The parking is outrageous at $47 per night. We talked to a manager, they told us that they would have something sent to our room to accommodate us for not being welcomed to their establishment. This was never […] done. Once in the room our view was of an alley. Upon trying to go to sleep the first night we heard noises all night long, we asked if this was going to be the same on the second night, they promised us that it would not be like that. low and behold the second night was just as bad if not worse. To end this terrible stay we tried to talk to a manager while checking out. All we did is get yelled at and told that we could have been moved at 2am or 4am when i called the front desk. Who wants to pack their things and move at 4am. Over all i would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Mehr

As we walked into the hotel lobby, I wasn't sure how clean the room are going to be. The carpet in the lobby is not as updated and clean as the actual rooms. But wow... the room really surprised us. How nice and clean it was. The staff was extremely nice and courteous.

We were 4 adults in a double-queen room, in Chicago for a college graduation weekend. After a brief confusion at reception, we had nothing short of excellence in service. The room was beautifully decorated with a large, modern and efficient bathroom. The linens were pristine and luxurious. We had breakfast from room-service both mornings. The food was […] delicious and room-service staff was very pleasant. We used the valet parking service for both days without incident - staff was always courteous and efficient. We also enjoyed the location in the early mornings. We got coffee at Starbuck's in the lobby, then walked accross the street, and through the park near Buckingham Fountain. Mehr

I was extremely pleased with the Blackstone. The only hiccup was with room service for breakfast. First, the order didn't arrive at the time I requested on the door hanger the night before. When I called to check on it, staff were very apologetic and sent up the order--incomplete. The server had to come back twice before I received my order. The people at the Blackstone were so helpful and friendly, what a first class place. The restaurant is fantastic! They upgraded me to a lake view room, I don't know what the charge would have been, but it would have been worth it. Absolutly gorgeous.

Very nice hotel. The restaurant, Mercat a la Planxa was a culinary delight, The hotel was very convenient to both our train station and to where we went for our evening's entertainment. The only negative was the rather large chair in the room which was uncomfortable and the fact that there was only one chair to sit in,

I was in Chicago for four days. It was a business trip and I was extremely satisfied by my experience at the Blackstone Renaissance. I arrived early and was given a room right away. Someone from my office sent missing papers and the front desk contacted me immediately upon their arrival. I very much hope I can return soon to this hotel.

This hotel was really beautiful, and the staff was wonderful - even offering advice on places to eat. As we'd head out the door each day, the doorman would often ask if we needed any directions, etc. We can't speak for the restaurant on site, as we ate at other places, but otherwise we can whole-heartedly recommend this hotel, and had a great time in […] Chicago. Our only complaint is that we find the sheet-covered blankets too warm for sleeping, but many hotels now use them, and other people seem to prefer them. Mehr

I chose this hotel randomly due to proximity to ballet venue (Auditorium Theater), and was hoping it was adequate. The hotel lobby was sharp and modern, the staff energetic, friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, well appointed and had an amazing view of the lake and Michigan avenue. I was anxious to try this hotel from the reviews. I go to Chicago frequently and have my favorite spots but wanted to try something different. The hotel staff questioned our breakfast package and eventually realized that they owed me 4 breakfast coupons per day. The restaurant was nice and unique but 2 of 4 of us did get a diarrhea illness for unknown […] reason. Our room was modern decor and clean but we did not get any housekeeping service at all. I found a maid on day 2 to get clean towels and she apologized and said she was "really behind" and looked frantic, working fast. The beds were barely acceptable/needed replacing. If you advertise as luxury, you should at least provide a good bed and housekeeping service! We were stranded due to weather for 2 extra days and moved across the street to a competitor. This hotel would not negotiate a lower rate to keep us so we crossed the street and saved some money and had a superior experience. Mehr

What a beautiful hotel! The lobby is restored to it's former glory with original dials above the elevators to the light fixtures. The rooms are fully modern with all amenities. The bed was comfortable, robes were provided. The bathroom had very modern fixtures with a touch of nostalgia in the marble floor and tile which was a great combination, loved […] the shower. .Beverage fridge and flat screen TV also very nice. We were upgraded to a lake view room, and what a view!. From the 11th floor we could see Soldier Field and the museum complex to the East all the way to Navy Pier on the West with Grant Park and Buckingham Fountain in the center. All lit at night was stunning and watching the sun come up in the morning was spectacular. The Blackstone is so conveniently located, we walked to State St to check out the Christmas decorations. All in all it was a great experience to visit the Windy City. Chicago is still beautiful, even in winter! Mehr

The room was very comfortable and well laid out. The bed was great. The view over Grant Park was splendid. I was impressed with the quality of the marble tile work - whoever did this knows their stuff.

This was our second visit within a month. Dinner, shopping, Buddy Guys etc very close. The rooms are very stylish and comfortable. The restaurant is a fabulous experience and our main focus on this hotel. Even room service breakfast is special. However, this time we had trouble with a lack of clarity on breakfast pricing. Great hotel. Loved the location across from Grant Park and close to many L stops. Maybe not best for shopoholics who will want the Mag Mile, but it was perfect for us. The staff was incredibly helpful. Each person we asked happily answered our questions and accommodated our requests. The room was very nice and comfortable for its size. Great bedding. […] Only puzzle was the shower door (or lack thereof). Bonus was the outstanding Catalan restaurant onsite. Delicious and the lunch deal was not overly expensive for such great food. Delightful stay at the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago located on Southern Michigan Avenue. Well located for visiting the Art Institute or signing up to take Architectural walks. Also, easy access to the Field Museum, the Plantetarium, and the Aquarium. The rooms are recently refurbished and well-appointed. The housekeeping service and staff are friendly […] and efficient. The lobby show a bit of wear but is nicely decorated in Art Deco style. Be sure to eat at Mercat restaurant, a Catalan tapas bar, located in the hotel. Overpriced. Rooms are extremely small. They didn't keep the reservation we had placed, putting 3 of us in 1 king bed, unable to switch us to 2 doubles and no rollaway.

The hotel is excellent - with large rooms and tastefully done bathrooms. The location is very good. The bar was lively, with a nice mix of younger and older people. We did not get to eat at the restaurant but the chef at Mercat a la Planxha, which is in the hotel is an Iron Chef winner, so really missed out! the water pressure on the 19th floor was a major disapointment. The building is older so perhaps that was why it didnt operate well on higher floors.

Unique Decor, Very clean, Many amenities. We definitely will stay here again, This hotel is connected to Columbia College on S Michigan.

We were in Chicago for my wife's birthday and had a great experience. The hotel staff was great with food recommendations and directions to their locations or summoning a taxi. Valet can be a bit pricey, but they were quick to point out a garage (that was much cheaper) about one block away if we wish to not pay for valet. The staff was always curteous […] and helpful. Our room was incredible with views of Grant Park and the city. The only draw back to our modern style room was the bathroom door was a slider and did not completely close off the bathroom area, which can make for some awkward bathroom moments. I had never stayed here before and picked the Blackstone for location and price. I was very pleased with all aspects. I recommend paying a little extra for a room overlooking the park and get one as high up as you can. Clean, new, great service from the valet all the way to the front desk. Only one complaint and it sounds petty, but when I checked out it was a shock to pay $47 for one night of parking with the valet. $25 or even $30 is pretty common, but $47?
