Sehr gute Lage, sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter, sehr guter Service (z.B. kostenfreier Kaffee ganztags). Leider zur Straße hin sehr laut.

"Lage"
"Tolles Hotel, sehr zentrale Lage"

"Hotel Royal in München liegt sehr zentral"

"Convenient location"
Clean and comfortable room; friendly and helpful staff; close to many attractions and transportation
"Very nice stay"
The hotel is very conveniently located. It was clean and the room in general was very nice. The only problem was that the bathroom door did not close well! The staff was very friendly and professional. We were a bit concerned about the neighborhood before our stay - since we knew that there were a lot of nightclubs around. However, we were two women […] and I can confirm after my stay - we felt very safe throughout our time there. Walking to the station at 4:30 in the morning was also not at all a problem. Mehr
"Hotel Royal"
Hotel was clean. Bathroom was clean. Our room was quiet (it faced the back of the hotel). Neighborhood could cause some people to be a little uncomfortable. It is conveniently located next to the train station and a lot of sights.
"Great value for money"
No bad word to say about this hotel. Good location, near the station but not too close. Noise possibly an issue but only if you're a light sleeper. On 7th floor could still hear street noise with windows open but at no point did it disturb sleep or anything else. Good size bathroom with decent shower. Surprisingly good quality television with some English […] channels. Excellent tea/coffee machine which was free and available 24/7. Breakfast looked good and really varied, again quite surprisingly. Would try this next time. Friendly female reception staff, spoke perfect English. Overall excellent value for money, would stay again. Mehr
"Hotel Royal, Munich"
The hotel is in a colourful part of the city but very convenient for the main station. The room was very good value for money, clean, good sized and with free WiFi. Breakfast was extra to the rate I paid but good value for money with a lot of variety although of the continental style. The staff I met were very friendly and made me feel very welcome […] . Mehr
"Royal hotel - Convenient"
Hotel was close to main train station, the room was tidy, very reasonable price. Free coffee and tea in lobby, free wifi in room. Receptionist was very nice. While my husband and I were having tea in the lobby at night, the manager treat us a german cake, which was great :)

"Good Value, the Royal Hotel in Munich"
This hotel deserves some attention! After reading the mostly positive reviews, along with critiques about the reported casino and noisy nightlife, I expected something like the '80's version of Times Square. If you life in a big city, this neighborhood is nothing but tame. Yes, some strip clubs and casinos but very reasonable and none offensive or outrageous. […] I stayed on the 5th floor facing the street, and heard no noise at all. The staff were quite welcoming and helpful. The exit from the Hauptbahnhof mentioned by another reviewer was very helpful; this central location was great. A short ten minute walk to the gay district. The free coffee/tea mentioned (24 hours a day) is actually one of those very fancy expresso/coffee/cappunchino machines: very impressive and much better than the coffee I had later at the Star Alliance Club at the airport! The rooms are a tad small, but all in all, very favorable. I would definitely stay again! Mehr
"Nice little hotel near Hauptbahnhof. (All subways)"
The hotel is situated as many others in this neighbourhood in Munich. Many Restaurants, Shops and stripclubs in the area. Very close to the subway (1 min walk). The staff is friendly and helpful. Small rooms but they have everything that is needed for a vacation stay or a businesstrip. Good value for the money.
"Stay at the Royal Hotel"
The Royal Hotel is an excellent hotel at an affordable price. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The room was pretty small with two twin sized beds but let's face it, you're probably not spending much time in your room but to sleep and shower anyway. It's just about 1 block from the main train station and is in the heart of tons of shopping and […] nightlife. One note though is the nightlife does include "adult theme" clubs. If you're not bothered by walking past a few strip clubs then you can't beat this hotel for the price. I'd recommened this hotel and would love to stay there again anyday. Mehr
"The Royal: A Happy Surprise"
I'd read the reviews, with their reservations, mostly involving the colorful action and noise on Schillerstrasse and the lack of air conditioning. Since my two-part stay spanned the middle and end of October, the latter wasn't a problem (and I never expect air conditioning in smaller European hotels, anyway). And being a longtime New Yorker, the former […] didn't bother me at all. What delighted me was just how nice this place was. The staff at the desk could not have been nicer or more helpful. The coffee machine (gratis for everyone, though the lovely breakfast isn't) makes great cafe au lait. My room had a splendid Samsung flat-screener on the wall (though I was a bit disconcerted to turn it on to find "Psycho" auf deutsch, with Marion Crane checking into the Bates Motel)...The price couldn't be better. The hotel I stayed at in Berlin cost half again as much and wasn't nearly so pleasant. In short, I wouldn't hesitate for a nanosecond in recommending the Royal to any budget-conscious traveler. And even if you've got more bucks to throw around than I do, why not save a few and stay here? You're unlikely to be disappointed. (And hey: it's just a block away from the Hauptbahnhof!) Mehr
"Royal Hotel Munich"
It was a one night stay on the tour of Germany. It is fantastically located, 10-20 minutes from the octoberfest festival, 3 minutes from the central station. The hotel it self was clean, with friendly receptionist. Free use of a coffee machine. I never went for the breakfast (only meal the sell) in the morning (9 Euros) so can't tell you about the quality […] but did look comprehensive. The 24hour reception is handy for thoes of you wanting to enjoy the festivities fo octoberfest. The single room is ample size for one person, no fridge, small television (one english channel). I did spend alot than I would normally on the room, I assume this is more due to the local festivities. But would recommend for stop overs. Mehr
"Gross"
The only good points. Convenient location to Oktoberfest, the room was clean. Otherwise you are right about some nasty strip clubs, in a garbage hotel nowhere near the rest of munchen. I didn't want to shower there so I waited till I was in a nicer hotel.
We stayed for one night and it was so nice. The staff were so friendly. Would sure book in this hotel next time.
"A Decent Hotel"
I would recommend this hotel, with reservations. The lack of air conditioning is was a big minus, as it was 90 degrees, and the window in my room did not open very far. Since I was only staying here one night before flying out the next morning, I managed just fine. I would stay here in again for a night, but only if it was cooler. As for the neighborhood, […] it's not the shiniest place, but it was just fine. As a single female traveller, I felt perfectly safe (although I was not out after dark). It is a noisy street, but I am used to noise, so that never bothered me. The staff was great, the room was clean, the bathroom was big enough, and I felt perfectly safe. As my title says, it is a decent hotel. Mehr
"Great Central Hotel"
We stayed here for one night between train trips. It is located close to the central station. The welcome we got was superb - lots of information readily available about the hotel and local area. Breakfast was on offer but not taken, however, complimentary drinks were accepted. Free internet access and WiFi are another bonus!
"The Royal Works"
The hotel was spotless and the front desk staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Its a good location, however it's located on a busy street and can be noisy, especially if you need to open the window on a warm summer night. You may also have to shield your childrens eyes as you pass the strip clubs that surround the hotel. All in all I […] would recommend the Royal, it's very well maintained, friendly and works well for a few night stay. Mehr
"Convenient and friendly hotel"
I found the hotel staff extremely helpful and unfailingly friendly, the facilities excellent, the breakfasts good and worth the additional cost, and the location most convenient for both the central station as well as the central shopping area - a comfortable walk.

"Inexpensive but not conducive to sound sleep"
I was surprised upon my arrival to see sex clubs and casinos next door - none of the reviews I read mentioned it. With no A/C to shut out the noise or the windows, i endured three nights of only a few hours sleep due to the noise downstairs on the street. Otherwise, this would have been a terrific hotel. Relatively close to Karlsplatz and transportation, […] the staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and ample. Breakfast was good, too. I was told that booking direct with the hotel would have included breakfast, but I think the room rate would have been higher. Booking with Hotels.com was a breeze. Mehr
"Great hotel for the price"
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel, and would gladly stay there again. It is reasonably priced, well situated (~5 min. from the main train station and ~10 minutes to the city center by foot), and nicely maintained. Rooms are comfortable, staff speak good English, and service is good. Free wifi! I was impressed with the breakfast, as well. The surrounding […] area is a little seedy, but safe and offers plenty to choose from (no matter what you're into, I suppose!). My only complaints are that the hotel is not air conditioned (which is typical and not that big of a deal), so the rooms can get pretty stuff even if it is not that hot outside. So you'll probably want your window open, but it gets pretty loud outside at night and that will make it hard to sleep. Still a great option overall and comes recommended. Mehr
"Royal Hotel - only for single night"
Sketchy area (cabarets and casinos galore). Noisy (loud from outside and in). Old and small. TV did not work. Very cheap though, great location, clean, phone fee is low to call US.
"royal hotel"
I stayed two nights at the royal hotel and was generally very impressed. Everything was clean and nice, the room a decent size. The hotel staff seemed very friendly and wanted to help. I was impressed that there was free wireless internet (in my experience you typically have to pay extra), and the hotel was already very affordable. The only issues were […] that the street below was sometimes reasonably loud (seemed to be mainly passing tourists). The hotel is very close to the central station (and there are a lot of tourists around as well as a few strip clubs) and very easy walking distance to the city center. Overall excellent location and I will stay again. Mehr
"Hotel Royal in Munich"
A very good hotel. The location is very convenient as its close tto the city center and to the central train station. The hotel is also very clean and practical. Free WiFi in the rooms and a very helpful staff. Thr street is a bit questionable as there are some night clubs near the hotel, but if you are not travelling with children, its not a big deal, […] and is quite safe. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family, and would stay again in this hotel if I visit Munich again. Mehr
"Good location, Great price, Excellent service."
We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Hotel. It's about a 5-10 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof and the Karlsplatz/Marienplatz area. Perfect location! Great deal for the price. The room was basic, "no frills," clean and well maintained. The staff was always very courteous, cheerful and helpful. The only thing that I would say was SLIGHTLY less than […] perfect was the surrounding neighborhood. There are a few "Nudie Bars" or "Strip Clubs" on the street. Often, the "employees" will stand out in front (Clothed, but barely!) which some may find unsettling. That being said, my wife and I never once felt threatened, and were never approached or harrassed. They did not get in our way, try to talk to us, or even make eye contact. I did not feel that this was a dangerous or high crime area, and in a weird was was comforted by all the "Witnesses" on the street. BOTTOM LINE: If you're looking for some comfortable, economical accomodation while you're busy exploring Munich, this hotel is for you and I will always stay here whenever I go back. If you're easily offended by, or overly sensitive to the concept of Strip Clubs, I wouldn't blame you for wanting to check around first, but considering the other positives I'd probably just learn to deal with it! "Hotel Royal - Great Location, Service!"
Had been to this hotel 12+ years ago under other management (by my family, in fact) and went back for the nostalgia. VERY different, in a great way. The place was renovated, clean, and service was excellent (we got in at 9am and hadn't slept in 24 hours... they brought us up to a room immediately, significantly early, at no charge). There are some […] shops in the area that may make you uncomfortable if you have small children (think 18+) but as an adult, was great. Some restaurants close, and the train station is a block away, so its 5 minutes to just about anywhere. Mehr
"Nice place"
Stayed here two nights. It was very close to the Hauptbahnhof and 2 S-Bahn stops from Marianplatz but that was walkable too. Very clean and comfortable room. It was European size which means small but not bad. Very friendly staff. Free coffee and WiFi which was handy. A nice elevator too which made being on the 4th floor no problem. The neighborhood […] may seem seedy but it really wasn't. No problems there. I'd stay here again. Mehr
"Royal Hotel Munich."
Small but nice and cozy hotel for the price and for Munich. Nice carpeted floor, bathroom was nice enough, and 2 out of the 3 staff were VERY friendly; the elderly man and a very attractive woman in her late 20s. A man in his late 30s early 40s was a little rude, but the other two were very nice. Very close to the Hauptbanhof and easy walk to Marie […] nplatz. Mehr
The hotel was Ok for the price. The neighborhood was a little questionable. It seemed safe enough though. Also I was surprised that there was no parking and was a little nervous about parking on the street. Also the parking on the street is not free during the week on the weekend it is free overnight.
"Royal Hotel - a great place to stay in Munich!"
Royal Hotel was excellent. I arrived and checked in with the very courteous staff with no problems. The room looked and smelled very clean and the staff was more than glad to answer questions I had. The hotel is a block or so walk from the train station and is located on a nice street. Be aware, there are night/strip clubs on the same street, but they […] are honestly not really noticeable. I walked in and out of the hotel at all hours of the day and never once felt uneasy.. Considering there are high-end jewelry stores just several doors down from some of these clubs, I think it's safe to say it's nothing to worry about. In any case, this hotel is only 3 or 4 blocks from the central shopping area of the city. For the nominal price they charge, I think this hotel was a bargain. Mehr
"Royal Hotel in Munich"
Hotel is a good value except breakfast. They say Hotel.com res do not get free breakfast and therefore they charge an additional 8 Euros. Breakfast was ok,,, but not worth 8 Euros additional. The big problem with this hotel is that it is not air conditioned. If it were air conditioned it would be a 5 rating. We were there on a rainy , hot and humid […] day and it was very uncomfortable. They did provide a fan the next day upon request but it still was somewhat uncomfortable. The staff is friendly and nice and a block to rail station. Mehr

We arrived early and the front desk had us a room by 9am. The largest room at the hotel! The room was ver clean, the service was excellent and the breakfast buffet was the best. This hotel is literally seconds from the main train station. Its minutes from the main tourist area with many shops and places to eat. If I travel to Munich again I will stay […] at the Royal! Mehr
"Nice Hotel in Marginal Neighborhood"
The Royal Hotel is close to the central train station and is all non-smoking. My room was clean and faced the front street. The neighborhood consisted of mostly jewelry stores, small casinos and even a few strip clubs. The double glazed windows cut most of the street noise. Because of the neighborhood, the street noise lasted into the late hours. Our […] room did not have air conditioning and fortunately the weather was cool enough that we were able to keep the windows shut. Although the hotel was quite nice and even has free 24 hour coffee, I would rather not stay in that part of town on my next visit. Mehr
