die anbindung mit den öffentlichen verkehrsmitteln zur innenstadt ist super. das frühstück sehr dürftig, aber daß es 24/7 kaffe und tee umsonst gibt, haben wir oft gern genutzt. der preis schlägt alles! dashotel hat seine besten zeiten schon hinter sich. aber für den preis ist es top.

Es ist wirklich so schön, wie sie beschreiben. Die grosszügige und einladende Lobby in der ersten Etage diente u.a. dem Weinempfang aller an diesem Tag anreisenden Gäste. Allerdings scheint die Zeit auf 17 bis 18 Uhr begrenzt zu sein. Eher als Ausnahme bekam ich später noch einen Gutschein für die Bar, die nicht ganz so nett ist, wie die Lobby. Beim Frühstück im benachbarten Bistro muss man wissen, was man wählt, um nicht vom Amerikanischen Geschmack überrascht zu werden.

Zu unserer Ueberraschung war alles viel kleiner, als es in den Bildern erscheint. Der Fotograf hat einen super Job gemacht. Dennoch ist das Hotel eine sehr gute Wahl. Allerdings hatten wir eine Suite. Wir haben das Zimmer-Service-Fruehstueck nie genutzt, da es genug guenstige und gute Alternativen in der unmittelbaren Umgebung gibt.
Lage
The Majestic Hotel liegt in Chicago, Lincoln Park, in der Nähe der folgenden Sehenswürdigkeiten: Lincoln Park, Wrigley Field und Anshe Emet Synagogue. Zu den weiteren Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Nähe gehören: DePaul University – Lincoln Park und Lincoln Park Conservatory.
Ausstattung
Jeden Morgen wird den Gästen ein kostenloses Frühstück serviert. Die Unterkunft The Majestic Hotel bietet Folgendes: Wäscherei, Kamin in der Lobby und Kaffee in der Lobby. The front desk staff leaves much to be desired.... I was charged twice.... you may need to watch over somebody's shoulder to ensure a correct bill!
The staff was pleasant. The location for us was great--walking distance to friends and to the waterfront. The "continental" breakfast was more than expected.

Great, exceptional boutique hotel close to Lake Shore Drive and Lakeview neighborhood. One of my favourite small hotels.
"Majestic Hotel-Quiet, convenient to North Chicago"
The Majestic was everything we had read about: In a quiet neighborhood but near the lakeshore. Nearby secure valet parking. Quiet hallways and rooms with comfortable beds. Good self-serve free continental breakfast in lovely fireside lounge. (TV traysor rollaway tables would be helpful to eat at) We only used the "dry bar" for a granola bar, but noted […] many snacks & beverage items that were very reasonably priced. (needs some chocolates) Wished there was catered room service to enable eating breakfast in and/or a microwave. The hotel itself was a real gem and was relatively inexpensive for the big city! We would definitely come back & try out the bus to the aquarium which we heard comes nearby. We did not use the subway this time but heard it is a few blocks down. We chose to stay away from the sounds of the subway so that is a small price to pay! Thanks! Mehr

"Majestic Hotel, Chicago"
We really liked the atmosphere and the neighborhood surrounding the hotel and in additon the indoor (heated) parking facility was convenient. Rooms were smaller than most hotel rooms however the comfort and convenience of the rooms was very satisfying. We will definitely stay there again!
"Home away from home"
I spent 5 days in Chicago in the dead of winter for campus visits with my son. A junior suite gave us two televisions, a separate sitting space with desk, two double beds, microwave, refrigerator and sink. Also a fully stocked mini fridge and some extra snacks. The Jewel Osco was right around the corner and we stopped by several times to get snacks […] for the room. We ordered from an italian restaurant recommended by Mona at the front desk, and it was great. The Improv Olympics, Wrigley field, and the nailshop where I got a great manicure for $12, all within easy walking distance. A good number of bars and restauants as well. It's a longer hike to the Addison stop on the red line, but still only about a 15 - 20 minute walk. We preferred to take a taxi most days, but I think if the stop was closer we might have saved a little money by using the trains. The breakfast is very convenient, and we used it almost everyday. It's basically an assortment of cold breakfast foods, not a hot breakfast. 24 hour coffee and tea also came in handy, and they have cookies in the late afternoon. The neighborhood is lovely, the staff is super friendly and the robes were super comfy. We had a great time. Mehr

"The Majestic Hotel in Chicago"
Very thin walls. We could hear everything going on everywhere. All conversations, all "activities" all day all night. Door handle fell off the door 3 times.
"Wonderful Neighborhood Hotel"
We were very pleased with this little hotel. Although our room was very small, it was OK because we spent most of the time at our son's condo for Thanksgiving. We were only in our room late at night. Was very nice having the continental breakfast in the morning so that coffee was readily available. The family room was very cozy.

"Abolutely Delightful"
This is an older hotel that has been thoroughly upgraded yet kept its charm. The main room has a fire place for evening relaxation and also serves as the breakfast room. Mattresses are fantastic. Windows open for fresh air. Neighborhood is quiet but parking is difficult. However there is a secure garage for a fee. Staff members are friendly. Restaurants […] are within walking distance. We absolutely loved the hotel the staff and the location. If we ever come back to Chicago I would pick this Hotel. The rooms were wonderful,the price was great. We enjoyed the breakfast, and loved the convience of the parking.

The Majestic is a fine old boutique hotel that does things the old fashioned way: friendly, efficient service, clean comfy rooms, and charming surroundings. If you're going to see the Cubs, this is a 6 block walk from Wrigley and the L stop. A find.

I stayed here during a recent visit to Chicago for a Cubs game. The hotel is less than a mile from both the subway and Wrigley so you can easily walk. The hotel has is a bit older, but it was a great stay and I would stay there again.

The rooms were small, the bathrooms even smaller, breakfast wasn't worth even staying for. The first room they tried to give me wrapped around the elevator (that isn't even funny). "Majestic Hotel--Chicago"
We enjoyed our stay at the Majestic Hotel. It is clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast provided adequate nourishment to start our day. In addition, the hotel provides coffee and hot water for tea all day. The minibar items are not ridiculously overpriced, so we bought sodas from it. The staff is very knowledgeable about what to see in Chicago […] and how to get there on public transportation. Easy bus ride to Lincoln Park Zoo and the Magnificent Mile. The hotel is a block from Lake Shore Drive, so there is a running and bike path. We chose this hotel because we wanted to be near friends in the neighborhood. We would definitely stay there again. "A pleasant stay"
The Majestic was a nice quite quaint hotel. The hotel is in a residential neighborhood that is very nice and well maintained. The hotel staff was very courteous and very helpful. It was neat, very clean and well maintained. It was about a15 minute walk from Wrigley Field and good food. I will stay at this hotel again.

We didn't realise it when we booked but we were within easy walking distance of Wrigley Field and went to watch a Cubs baseball game on our second night. we embarked ona 10 city ballpark trip and chose this hotel for the closeness to Wrigley Field (15 min. walk up Addison St.) secure parking garage around the corner ($22.00 per night, valet 24 hr in & out) the room was small, but cozy, clean bathroom, tub/shower combo, 42" HD tv, good channel choices, comfy bed and pillows, quiet area, honor bar, minifridge, […] wifi, good continental breakfast. eateris in the are, we found an IHOP, Walgreens and grocery store. took the EL (2.25 p.p. each way) to downtown to Millenium Park. Chicago has a gorgeous skyline and we were extremely impressed .took a 5 1/2 hr bus tour of north and south. Rode the elevator at the John Hancock Building, what amazing views of Lake Michigan and Chicago. This is an older hotel, used to be a rooming house for secretaries back in the 40's. overall our 3 days here were satisfactory. Mehr
"Over-rated and over-priced"
We usually stay in a charming, older residential hotel with spacious suites in a quiet neighborhood just east of the Mag Mile in the heart of the shopping district at a lower cost! The Majestic Hotel compares unfavorably in every way. Our room was extremely tiny. There was traffic noise 24/7. A lack of proper window coverings let light in all night. […] Other negatives: lumpy worn-out mattress, low thread-count sheets, florescent light in the bathroom, one nightstand with no lamp, the other side of the bed was a desk with a dim light, crappy breakfast with no tables, just armchairs for seating, self-parking a block away in a creepy garage. while the rooms are on the small side the location and building make up for it. Steps off the lake and 5 minutes to wrigley was a great plus. I would stay there again.

If you're staying her it's due to location and to save a few bucks as compared to what you would pay elsewhere in the area. If you don't know it's an old hotel you didn't read the reviews. It was what I expected. Old but in very good condition for it's age. The room was small but comfortable for 2. Very clean, the double bed was comfortable and a nice […] set up with a wall mounted flat screen with good channel selection and the stay offered free i-net service. We stayed her to see James Blunt who was playing at the Vic on Sheffield about a 20 minute wall away. Very nice historic theater venue to see an excellent show! Wrigley is a 15 walk so the hotel is in a great location - really in the middle of a residential neighborhood which is typical Chicago urban living and a 5 minute wall under LSD to the lake!. I liked the stocked bar with all kinds of snacks and drinks which I though were very reasonably priced. $15 for a bottle of wine, 2 bucks for a beer, 1 buck for a mini can of Pringles etc, very reasonable and it's all on the honor system when you check out. Garage parking was $21 with a 6' - 6" clearance limit so large vehicles stay away. I will definitely stay here again when returning this summer to see my Cubbies play. Mehr

Nice hotel, but small and old. If you park in the local parking garage, make sure you have the correct stamp or sticker. I had to walk back to the hotel to get the correct sticker to get my car. A little pricey. Room a little stuffy.

Great hotel, outside city centre but lots of good restaurants and bars in the area left no need to travel far in the evening. Reasonably convenient for the subway so easy access to downtown.

The Majestic was only so so for us. Parking isn't convenient. Half the TV stations didn't work in our room. It was chilly in there. Heater didn't work well.

Enjoyed being in a neighborhood rather than downtown, within steps of the lake. We walked to the Blue Man Group show. Lots of great restaurants nearby.
The front desk was fast, friendly and very helpful. The hotel room was cozy and cute. I would definitely stay here again.

The only issue I have with the Majestic is that others are bound to find out about it, and I'll freak out if it's no available for my next visit to Chicago. We LOVED this hotel. It was reasonable, quiet, and conveniently located in a semi-residential area. The staff was extremely nice and the older building was charming (plus it reminded me of my house...nice […] radiators!), and it felt kind of cool that none of our friends in town even knew it --or it's street -- existed. "Perfect for us"
We were looking for a hotel halfway between Lincoln Park and Bryn Mawr. This place fit the bill plus 1/2 block from the bus stop and 3 blocks from the L. Staff was very courteous and hotel nice and clean. Did not notice the night noises you usually hear in a city.

The Majestic was a GREAT deal for the price! The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. I would definitely recommend the Majestic for anyone who is looking for a good deal. The staff was friendly, and I enjoyed unwinding by the fireplace downstairs in the lobby while sipping some complimentary tea. The neighborhood wasn't bad--although we were surprised […] to realize we had booked a hotel right in the Gay district of Chicago. Five stars for the responsive, accommodating desk staff, quiet and convenient location, just-right sized hotel. I'd go there again in a heartbeat.

Had to walk to gym in the wintertime, but it is free with your hotel key and a nice gym only 2.5 blocks down.

"LOVED IT"
The staff was FANTASTIC! Thank you Richard for all your help. We have never been in the city before and the staff helped us secure reservations at a nearby resturant and a few taxis. They made our stay so much more enjoyable. The room was great. We had a junior suite and it was spacious and comfy. Located in a quiet residential (apartment) neighborhood, the Majestic is just a short walk to Wrigley Field and some very nice restaurants. It is across the road from Lincoln Park, which can be accessed at entrances (underpasses) about 1/2 mile from the hotel on Lakeview Ave. The 145, 146 and 151 buses on Lakeview Ave provide easy and inexpensive transport […] to downtown Chicago (and Navy Pier). Travel time from O'Hare to the Majestic could be about 1+ hours when traffic is heavy. Flat-rate transport service is available at O'Hare to the hotel. Hotel personnel were always helpful and pleasant. Fresh coffee was always available. Highly recommended...would definately stay here again. Mehr

We stay at the Majestic every year with our St. Louis friends for the Cubs vs Cardinals series. We love the "ambience" of the hotel - lots of Cubs and Cardinals fans from all over, families with young children, gay couples, wedding and bachelor parties. They didn't have our room ready at checkin this time. The rooms are noisy because of the window AC […] units. But we love the place. Mehr
