We slept on top of sheets bc there was a huge yellow stain on sheets under duvet the neighborhood was very shady heard cop cars all night

Was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in for the price!! Will always stay with a chain, at least then I have corp to make my complaints to.

I checked in with no problems but our room was not what expected. It was hot and I was told that because it was winter the heater was on. But to make things better they brought me a fan to help cool me off. The cable wasn't working so instead of finding more things wrong I was placed in a better room. Wouldn't mind checking in again, better than most hotels I've booked in the past for my vacations...

Myself and 3 children visited New York for a family vacation March 1-5. We stayed at the Pan American Hotel and had a great stay at hotel. Everyone from the van driver who picked us up from the airport to the maids they were very sweet and the front desk clerks were very friendly and nice and courties and very helpful. I'll be back in new york again […] in 2 months and will definately be staying at the pan american hotel again. Mehr

It was a wonderful stay. Everything was very good , I will definitively recommend my friend to stay at this hotel. You cannot beat this price, anybody that will see my review , i recommend you to go there. No parking to pay, it is not far from the subway, and not far from manhattan if you are driving. I will defintively come back.

I read the reviews on this site, so I was prepared for what I was getting into. The Pan American is a pretty old hotel, and it shows everywhere. That doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad place! It just ... very worn out, in every regard. It's quite clean, though. For me, location beats many other things - and in this regard the Pan American is really […] great, with only 7 minutes or so walking distance to the next subway stop. I can't say anything about the restaurant food or the airport pick-up service, as I didn't use either. The people working there, whom I had contact with, ranged from very nice and helpful to short-spoken, but never disrespectful. The room was very spacious, yet containing quite old furniture. The sheets were clean, but the floor had some stains. The window didn't close completely, but fortunately my room wasn't facing the quite busy road in front of the hotel. The bathroom was clean, but had some broken tiles. The tub had some spots and the drain didn't work all too well. There were only two major nuisances in my room: the fridge was a bit loud and the bed-side lights didn't work at all. All in all I wouldn't really recommend the place to anybody having medium to high expectations to their hotel. For people like me, though, who need a convenient, reasonably clean, affordable place to spend the night (I spent 7 there!), it's quite OK. I'd probably stay there again next time I'm in NYC - if I'm going alone, that is. I wouldn't want to stay there with my wife or family... Mehr

Didn't quite feel safe. Door wouldn't properly close and they have a club downstairs that let out around 2:30 and heard a few arguments.

Great commute to the R train . The subway is amazing!!

This is an older Hotel, the place is good if you are looking for convenience at a no frills price.

I recently stayed at this hotel FEB 2012. Hotel looks old and dingy. The room was small, bed was lop-sided, pillow cases were dirty, bath tub had ring it. To top matters off this hotel uses "FREE" liberally to only charge you surcharges during your stay. Check-in early $29 - Surcharge, Crib for baby $10/day - Surcharge, Shuttle back to airport $10/person […] - Surcharge. I wouldn't dare ask how much the FREE internet would cost me. If staying near LGA opt to spend a few more dollars on a hotel that has truly FREE amenities such as shuttle TO&FROM airport, and ask about surcharges. When staff tell you they can't answer questions til the day of check-in be leary. They give no handouts and NO APOLOGIES for the extra hidden fees. Oh and no credits for checking out EARLY. Overall I will never stay at this hotel again. I'll go to a more reputable one that can afford truly FREE. Mehr

The night manager was very rude he treated us like we was thieves and when I sent my girl in she got the room and he was nice to her I don't know is it's because we was black but it was not nice at all

If you are looking for a convenient no frills hotel then this is one you can try. Only downside is the water pressure is not quite strong and wifi is not free in the rooms.

great hotel, great location, very convenience to all locations,buses,trains, etc. staff was very helpful....maids kept the room spotless. we really enjoyed ourselves. thanks.

We stayed here years ago because it was the only hotel that you could get off at JFK and it was free to go on the shuttle to LGA and then free to take the shuttle to LGA the next day, II now costs to take the shuttle and it is on a very noisy street and I didn't sleep all night.

The room is generally clean although the place is a little old. It's about 5 min away from the closest metro station. And 10 min from a shopping mall. The staff is helpful. They offered free pick up from airport to hotel (although i didn't successful get that after waiting almost 2 hours) and a $10 shuttle return to airport. Wifi was $7 per day. If […] all you need is a relatively cheap place to rest at night while traveling in NYC, this should be a good enough option. Mehr

I stay here for the free parking and the price. The subway is walking distance away but during late night weekends the subway does repairs ands does not allow for an easy return. From time square 42 Take the 7 to 74th B-Way walk down to the local train which could even be an E and go 2 stops to Grand Ave/Newton. You can't beat the free parking though […] at this hotel. Mehr

Very convenient if you have to do bussiness in the area. You could see areas of improvement but generally very convenient and useful, satisfies all the basic needs you want in a hotel.

The proximity of this hotel to the subway was greatly understated by Hotel.com. The hotel itself was grungy and pretty dirty. Hallways were NOISY!! The rooms were run down, and needed a LOT OF ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. It took about 4 phone calls to get a lamp fixed and there were never enough towels. ATM broken and the atmosphere in the lobby was SCARY!! […] Lots of "locals" posturing and handling big handfuls of cash. Restauarant was adequate.. hard to get coffee. This hotel is no more than a 2 star. It is on a busy street. If you have a room in the front of the hotel, it is very noisy all night long,.

The employees at the Pan American were very helpful and even called a taxi when requested.

My original reservation was for two double beds yet when I got to the hotel they assigned me to a room with one double. After seeing to the room, I went back to the front desk to ask to be switched to a room with two double beds. They did not have any with the exception of a room with a queen bed. The hotel is on a busy street with a lot of street noise all night.

Although the hotel is a little old and tired, it was clean. Close to subway for access to all the tourist sights in manhattan and plenty of food options in and around the local area. Shopping centers and laundromat nearby or short subway and/or bus ride away. They also have a scheduled shuttle to JFK and La Guardia airports, very convenient.

This a very laid back ghotel and although a bt old and run down. Front desk staff will try their best to help you even allowing early check-in or late check-out if needed.

Very spacioius rooms make this hotel different from any other in NYC. rooms have a small fridge and the restaurant downstairs is not bad.

Upon checking in, I was able to check in early. It was a blesing after a long flight overnight with no sleep. Rooms are large and comfortable, two queen size beds! Can't go wrong.

The look of this room is way too old. It is obvious that the structure has not been renovated since the 1960s and it shows. The worst part is the bathroom. The soap is so tiny it will dissolve in your hand, bring your own soap bar. Rooms look dusty. Not bad for just a night.

This hotel needs to be renovated and the restaurant needs new management . It can be so much better, I used to be in the hotel business for 5 years, so I know.
