Relativ ruppiger Empfang. Foehn musste extra bestellt werden. Kleines Zimmer. Ausstattung minimal. Aufzuege sind langsam. Als wir nachts heimkamen war ein Polizeieinsatz am laufen dazu Geschrei die ganze Nacht. Seltsamer Laden.

Einfaches Hotel, sehr zentral gelegen. Dirkt am Grand Park. Super für den Marathon. Dunkin' Donut, Subway und Pizza Hut liegen direkt gegenüber. U-Bahn (red Line) nur 100 m entfernt. 50 m von der Michigan Ave. (Nobele Shopping Meile)

Sofa verschmutzt, Zimmer etwas veraltet, nicht genug Stauraum, ebenso im Bad

Etwas laut in der Nacht, da die Ubahn oberirdisch regelmässig lautstark vorbeifährt. Wireless gratis Internet ist klasse. Gute Lokation, gleich beim See und 2 Blocks von der UBahn Station entfernt.

Whereas not luxurious, the hotel offered the basic amenities and was ideally situated. Rooms were clean and quiet.

The hotel isn't fancy, but has some nice historic touches like the old-fashioned operator-run elevator. The employees were polite and service was speedy. You do need to call the front desk for anything extra (including the hair dryer). The 2 bed room was extremely large, I was surprised, and the kitchenette was a nice bonus. Convenience is key here, you're right in the loop and close to everything. Two restaurants are at the bottom of the hotel, which was nice.

If your not looking to Stay in a super nice, high quality hotel, then this is what you want. Good for concerts and things of that nature.

I booked this hotel via hotels.com for my stay for a convention. The hotel was very basic but I did not need any amenities. The service was good, the room clean, the staff was friendly, and the neighborhood was safe. I would recommend this hotel for those on a budget who are doing business in Chicago. If you require a fitness center, room service, and other amenities then this is not the place for you. You are very close to the museums, convention center, and Grant Park.

I stayed at this hotel this past weekend, and now that I've arrived home, I discovered that I brought a few friends with me. Fleas have been biting me for 2 days, and they are a huge pain to get rid of. One night, I also woke up to find a roach crawling over my arm - thankfully I am not afraid of bugs. I would not stay in this hotel again.

So I purchased the 'Travelodge' for the convenience to Grant Park for the Chicago Marathon. IT did deliver on that, but I soon realized I would be have a small taste of Europe as well as the great location. Other runners from around the world stayed with me on the floor and hotel. But let me say, the Europeans were the best part of the European atmosphere. The fact the room was the size of a walk in closet, a full bed to pass as a queen, with barely enough room to walk around the edges, might have made them feel at home, but made me feel like I was in a hostel and worried of bed-bugs. Shall I mention a radiator and window unit for AC and heat - the suttle loud clang of the pipes from others rooms running through the room - the musky sent of stale beddings - etc. etc.? I guess my previous stays in Chicago spoiled me, but I thought for the same price I paid for the Hampton previously the location surely would make up for the brand name. Wrong. The next night, I received 20 x more comfort and better bedding and everything else involved for $10 less at the Hampton I had stayed in previously.

Fine stay for the money

I guess my room was a Goldilocks "themed" room, since my friend's bed was cushy and soft and mine was hard as a rock.

The hotel was centrally located for what I needed. Had trouble sleeping at first due to "L" train route nearby and rumbling through day and night.

The hotel was in the right area and at the right price. Nothing complex about it at all. 3 minute walk to red line and it was in a nice area.

The view from the room we had was great,looking over the downtown Chicago skyline. The window could have been a little bigger, but was sufficient. The 12th floor where we were located was very quiet. Elevators were a little slow, but considering the age of this building (the old Harrison Hotel) higher speed was not expected. The bathroom was extremely clean. The Chicago Carryout food place next to the lobby had great food and really pleasant service. Buckingham Fountain (a beautiful place in Grant Park) is only a safe 3 block walk away, The Art Museum is only about 4 blocks away. The front desk was a little slow, but not to the pount of being annoying. A great place to stay for the money.

The Downtown Travelodge was a perfect location for the conference I was attending just down the street. Couldn't beat the price for a downtown hotel. The staff was very friendly & helpful. Room was clean & bed was VERY comfortable. Location of the hotel was very close to redline subway station so we could easily go to the Sox game Sat. night & go to Mass at Holy Name Cathedral Sun. morning!

Clean rooms, good location near Grant Park. Rooms are very basic, but if you're not going to spend a lot of time in the room, it works out fine. Little more than a mile walk from the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Soldier Field. Be prepared to pay $28 for parking a car overnight, but at least the parking lot (valet ramp) is right across the street. Most of the hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Close to L trains, but noise wasn't much of a factor on higher floors. Fairly convenient for cab or L train rides to major attractions in the city.

hotel staff were very friendly - not too crazy about the valet parking lot across the street, but that's not the hotel's fault - a minor quibble was that I had to go to another floor to reach an ice machine - considering the price paid for a downtown Chicago location, I would say it was a fair to good value and would definitely consider staying there again

you can certainly tell that it's an old hotel. the elevators were small and slow. the window a/c unit was loud but worked well. this hotel fit our needs for the U2 concert weekend. the restaurants downstairs were great.

This hotel is the epitome of the phrase "you get what you pay for". In town for a concert at Soldier Field, we chose the downtown Travelodge for its excellent location and price. Unfortunately, since it is a 1920's era building, the rooms were quite small, elevators slow, no pool, no fitness center, no room service...The nice points were the location, remodled bathrooms and the attached parking garage. Totally recommend it for the location and price, but don't expect "The Ritz"!

The hotel is close to the attractions but is dated and does not have the ammenities listed here on the website. NO internet, no blow dryer....The air conditioning did not work, our sheets/bed linens were dirty (despite the maid leaving the room as we arrived), the bathroom was small and dirty, outside noise was loud all night long, furniture was stained, parking is closed after 10PM until the next morning.....You get what you pay for, there's a reason this hotel was so cheap.

This is an old, basic hotel near downtown. The rooms are old and not attractive. But, for one night for the price in downtown Chicago, if you are alone, it is tolerable. I would not stay here again.

This is our second stay at the Travelodge and we were pleased with the condition of the room and the service for the price. It's a great place to rest your head; perfect if you're on a tight budget.

Very well located, in the loop. Room very clean and very good service. Ask for room not facing the tram however, as it can be noisy.

GOOD: Front desk was VERY helpful and polite, they were able to find us a room to check in early since our flight was very early, so we did not have to wait hours for our room (loved this!). Quick check out and any time we had to ask for something in our room, it was quickly taken care of. NOT as good: Room was missing some of the amenities that were listed on the site, such as blow dryer and iron. There was little toilet paper in the bathroom, had to order more from the front desk along with the missing amenities; but they were quick with getting these to your room afterwards. Room was not cleaned until after 3:30pm while we were out, had to wait for new towels. The power went out in our room at least 4 times the last night we were there, the tv, phone, ac and lights all shut off. Each time we had to contact the front desk and they quickly fixed it, but it happened so often.

We thought we would just have a normal hotel room for the amount we paid in the location we were in, but we had a huge room that included a mini fridge and microwave. Great location, great deal for the money, nice surprise!

Rooms were dated, but the location was great. down the block of Central park and a few from downtown. Only issue was the maid cleaning the room while I was getting ready

Excellent location, mostly friendly staff, large rooms and bathrooms, but deviously slow elevator. Get what you pay for though.

It was what you would expect out of a hotel. Nice people, a clean room, and I never ran out of toilet paper. Was a good stay.

Do not believe the negative comments! I had a wonderful stay. Great view and terrific hotel surface. I was so pleased that I will book Travelodge first before other hotels. If I go back to Chicago, I will stay here again and again!!! The location was perfect and the price was way below the going rate for Chicago. Many Thanks!! Jim

We got locked out of our room the last night, and the hotel staff were rude and short with us as we tried to get in. Ultimately, we had to stay in another room for the night. We were not offered their free toiletries to make staying in a room without our stuff more comfortable, and we never got the discount for the night's rate that was promised by a front desk manager. So disappointing. Up until then things had been so-so, but that night was horrible, and made worse instead of better by staff.

A no frills, basic hotel for cheap. Free Wireless internet was very fast connection, easy to use, no problems. Location right next to Grant Park was perfect for me.

Nobody who's looking for a stupendous room should be staying at the Travelodge. We only used our room for sleep, and for that, it was adequate. The air conditioner wasn't in the best condition; the curtains didn't so much keep the light out. But it was the cheapest option, and the location was exactly what we were looking for.

The location of the hotel is great. We were able to take the bus, the train, or walk to anywhere downtown. The hotel was also the cheapest we could find downtown, so the building was old. I had a great view of the ventilation system. The hotel staff was so-so, some were friendly and some were not.
