"Tolles Motel für die Durchreise"
Das Motel macht einen qualitativ sehr guten Eindruck, die Zimmer sind geräumig und zweckmäßig ausgestattet, der Service ist sehr gut. Auch das Frühstück ist absolut in Ordnung. Die Lage zwischen Washington DC und den Niagara Fällen macht das Motel zu einem geeigneten Zwischenstop. "Very Comfortable"
We only needed the hotel room for one night and it was very comfortable. The room and bathroom was clean. I wish that they had an elevator. We didn't eat the continental breakfast but it looked good.
"Excellent place to stay"
Our visit to the Super 8 in Altoona was more than we expected. The rooms were clean and more than adequate. We stayed at more expensive motels in the area and weren't as half pleased. We will definitely stay again.

We needed an inexpensive place to stay. The price was very reasonable, and the staff was nice (except the lady that works sunday mornings-she was kind of grumpy). Very close to shopping and food, and lots of stations on the TV. Refrig. with microwave. Free in-room internet too! Not the ritz, but for the price I didn't expect luxury. There was a little kid who's parents allowed him to run up and down the halls, and it sounded like someone banging on the wall. My room smelled of cigarettes and smelled stale and musty. The windows open, so by day 2 room smelled fresher. Beds were really hard. Toilet paper felt like sandpaper. One clerk gave the impression she was bothered by doing her job, the other clerk was talkative and friendly, the third clerk seemed new and unsure. "Very convenient and good value"
The hotel was very easy to access from the highway. It was close to many restaurants. My only criticism was that the hotel hallways smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The room did not, however.

This is our second visit to the Altoona, PA hotel. Wonderful location to shopping, great staff and very friendly environment. Will stay there again!

The problem of this hotel is the smell of stale cigarette smoke in our non-smoking room. The following day I slept in DC and I couldn't use my pajama due to its bad odour
Luckily we got GREAT rates, so we didn't pay much for the stay because we got what we paid for. Beds need new mattresses, worn, sagging from overuse. Room didn't get cleaned nor towels freshened our second day. Had to pick up our pile of dirty towels (four people in one room) and carry them to the front desk to exchange for clean towels. Got in really late at night and left really early in the morning, but the price and location were great. Place is clean and the staff was very friendly. Couldn't ask for more.

Look, it's a Super 8. Don't expect the Ritz-Carlton. For the price, on a long road trip, this was exactly what I needed. The room came with a fridge and microwave to keep the snacks fresh. Hotel seems to be very noisey. You can hear everything - which woke me up at 6 AM each morning.

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel and were absolutely amazed by the cleanliness and the friendly and helpful staff. We did not experience problems with smoke as noted in other reviews; there was the smell of smoke right outside the lobby where people had smoked/extinguised cigarettes, but other than that, no problem. "Good room for traveling through town."
When I checked in, the hotel was booked under a smoking room. I could not change it. When I arrived I asked if I could have the non-smoking room. The hotel was no where near full, and they would not budge in changing the room type. Keeping in mind Super 8 is a Wyndham Property and i would expect better accomodations. The room had an odor, but it did […] smell. They should invest in Fabreeze and that alone will help. Other than this, the room was 100% clean, and everything in working order. For the price of paid, it is exactly what I paid for. Staff was friendly with every shift. "Good rate for a place to lay ones head."
Room was clean and wifi worked fine. Breakfast was nothing to write home about but there was coffee and something to eat. I was able to extend my stay an extra day at the same rate without a problem. The location was easy to get to for the workshop I was attending.
"Air quality"
There are a lot of smoking rooms in this hotel and I am a smoker so that in itself didn't bother me. What bothered me was the overwhelming stench of smoke EVERYWHERE. All through the hallways and into the room. I prefer to smoke outside and this place smelled awful. I ended up opening a window and cracking the door to clear the room.

My wife and I stayed at the Super 8 Hotel in Altoona after staying for the past two years at a so-called better hotel with amenities. We come to Altoona once a year to attend a business convention, and we need a good night's sleep for the next day's events. Staying at the other hotel was always a mistake due to late-night partying and noise. The Super […] 8 was not a party hotel. Rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff was very nice and helpful; but more importantly, we got a good night's sleep for a lot less impact on our wallets. Our room had a small refridgerator, a microwave and a safe. Furnishings were nice and up-to-date. Breakfast the next morning was sufficient and the dining area was clean and neat. "If only the beds were comfortable"
The staff was friendly, and the hotel seemed clean. The only real down-sides to staying there are the non-supportive beds, the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the corridors and our non-smoking room, and cheap blankets. Why are there smoking and non-smoking rooms on the same floor? Why not locate all smoking rooms on the top floor, as smoke rises. […] Neither my husband nor I slept well because the beds were just way too soft. And the blankets were thin and rough. Also, though our room appeared to be clean, I was disturbed to notice that none of the housekeeping carts we passed in the morning were stocked with clean bed spreads or blankets. Mehr

Overall very clean. Although we were in a non-smoking room, the cigarette smoke had risen from the floor below.
The hotel was clean and convenient. The staff was polite and the location was what we were looking for - close to the main highway and shopping. Good for a one night stay.
"Smells like Urine and Cigarettes"
My room was the last non-smoking room right next to the smoking rooms. The smell of cigarettes was really strong as I walked down the hall to my room. Then I open the door and it smells like urine. I had a headache by the time I left the next morning.

"Super 8 - They say super, for a reason"
At first glance, this does not seem to be the finest. Though it is well kept, it is very simple. However, the staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable. It is located on a " can't miss " street, that is convenient to hundreds of stores, restaurants and gas stations. The rooms are spotless!! Lots of towels, and a nice shower. I have stayed here at least […] 4 times before and have never been disappointed. Breakfast is continental style, but is a nice extra. Just having juice and coffee available is enough to start the day. Don't let the inexpensive price fool you, it is a great place for the weary traveler. Mehr
