We have stayed at this hotel before and chose to again for its convenient location to the A1 and the metro shopping centre. It is also nearby to family. It is a very nice hotel and the breakfast choice and quality is excellent. They upgraded our room to a slightly bigger one on arrival but we then had to chase for extra towels and pillows as there were […] four of us - a minor hiccup. The bar is very expensive - and they shut the coffee machine down at 10.30 pm! Other than that a lovely and clean hotel with great amenities ie gym, swimming pool, bar and restaurant. Mehr

within walking distance to the metro, clean large comfortable rooms..... however staff were not 'interested' in us, gave the people in front of us the hotel info about breakfast ( they then kept trying to charge us £31 for breakfast we never had)and other facilities. (my 15 year old tried to go swimming after 9pm and was told no kids under 16yrs perhaps […] if they had told us at reception we could have went earlier) my theory is when staying at this hotel wear a suit get respect. Have had at least 4 or 5 stays here now hotel is excellent staff very friendly and welcoming hotel very central for metro centre gym well equipped and rooms very clean and comfortable will continue to be a guest here as the service is excellent well done

The hotel was a great price, really clean and had good facilities. The staff were helpful and friendly. The only thing for me was that when booking with hotels.com I was told that the hotel was .7 miles from the city and it was actually more like 5 miles. We had to keep gettting cabs into town. We booked a b+b for the weekend through hotels.com. The staff on reception were fabulous. I asked if there was any chance of staying in one of thier themed rooms....Arabian.....it was amazing. It really made for our relaxing weekend away. The pool is so warm and a the hotel is so close to the mtr ctr, that shopping, bowling and eating was must!!. The […] staff serving and waiting during breakfast were excellent, as I am gluten free, they went and got my bread and toasted it for me!......we will be definately be returning. :-) Mehr

Stayed over when seeing The Saturdays and it was an xmas do in the hotel. Hotel very clean and comfortable never heard the party going on down stairs. Breakfast plentiful and good quality. Would definitly stay again. The only negative on returning to hotel from concert the tables outside the front doors full of smokers having to walk through a cloud […] of cigarette smoke and some of the language of supposedly mature adults not appropriate for my 2 children! Maybe moving the smoking area to somewhere less public. Apart from this incident great stay and will return. Mehr

Only stayed for one night on 1st January and the restaurant was closed although they did serve food in the bar. The leisure center also closed early so we were not able to try this. The room was comfortable and parking was free. The hotel is very well situated for Metro Center shopping and there are other restaurants nearby.

good hotel next to metro centre and all its shops,bus stop outside hotel for regular service into newcastle.we had a nice week end there.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Marriot- room was very spacious and comfortable and swimming pool was well used by my son. Good choice at breakfast too. Would definitely go back.

If parking in Newcastle is a concern stay here as the shuttle bus is so convenient enabling the shopper to see The Metrocentre and Newcastle. We had a concern about the smell of cigarette smoke on the 5th floor where there are rooms for smokers. We were promptly and courteously moved by the impressively polite duty manager. I have stayed at the Marriott Metrocentre, Gateshead on many occasions, both for business and pleasure. In either instance, I find it a perfect place to stay. Ideally situated close to the A1 it makes travel to anywhere in the North East very simple. Walking distance to the Metrocentre Shopping Centre, there is no shortage of entertainment and restaurants. […] Leisure facilities are excellent and the staff are some of the friendliest I have come across in many years of travel. We have visited this hotel on many occasions. We are always made most welcome and remembered by staff. Food and service in the restaurant are excellent. We look forward to visiting again in January .

Very useful location, happy friendly staff and a clean well equipped room made this a great place to stay.

We stayed in the Arabian Room for our honeymoon and had a fantastic 3 days of luxury.The breakfasts were excellent, as was the room service meals. We would recommend the Marriott as a great place to stay.

Can highly recommend this hotel. Stayed here with children to visit family nearby. Hotel room was large with two double beds, very well equipped and spotless. Needed extra towels due to there being four of us in the room & these were provided within minutes of asking. Great leisure facilities and staff extremely polite and helpful. Great hotel - very friendly check in staff who answered all our questions. It's a real bonus being a very short walk from the metro centre with it's good selection of restaurants, shops and the cinema. We were visiting elderly relatives so were free in the evenings, but completely shattered - so having a quick meal and then vegging in front of a film […] was just right for us! The room was large, the blackout curtains were amazingly good and it was very quiet - even though we believe the hotel was pretty full. We had two double beds - one was great, the other really very saggy - which is why we haven't given 5s to everything. Breakfast was fine - really friendly waiting staff who were nice and quick with the tea & coffee. Free parking was a bonus too. We will definately use this as our base next time we visit! Mehr

I can highly recommend this hotel the staff very efficient and freindly and both the breakfast and evening meals were excellent . If I visit this area again I would return to this hotel .

We stayed for two nights here on a visit to Newcastle to visit family. We chose it for the location south of Newcastle, which avoids the traffic and parking issues. The hotel has really good facilities, with a good size pool and spacious rooms, but it was the friendliness and professionalism of the staff which made it special. Everyone we dealt with […] could not have been more helpful or pleasant, while at the same time extremely efficient and professional. The first night we decided to have a bottle of wine, which we bought outside, in our room but the ice machime was not working. I went to the bar and asked for some ice. Not only did the barman fill an ice bucket for me and find a corkscrew, but offered to send someone to the room with it and to open the bottle. All done with a smile. On our last day, one of the other guests took ill right beside us and we saw first hand how brilliantly the staff coped with the situation and looked after the guest. We opted to stay at the marriott whilst watching the England Schools at Gateshead. The hotel is only a very short drive away and convenient for the Metro centre with a large array of restaurants and shops. The Hotel is excellent from top to bottom and good value. The breakfast was particularly well presented and the recreational facilities are also […] superb. On site parking was also very easy. No hesitation in recommending the hotel. Mehr

ideal location, safe, good beds, good breakfast. no biscuits or hot chocolate in the coffee/tea drinks tray only minor disappointment! but good value accommodation.

Excellent hotel with great rooms, health club abd breakfast. Staff are friendly and excellent. The hotel is a £10.00 taxi ride away from Newcastle Town Centre. Thank you for a great stay.

I stay in Marriots whenever possible as the beds are consistently comfortable and the rooms are generally large and well equipped. The Metrocentre one is no exception in these regards; in fact the room was exceptionally spacious; notably, the bath was huge! Overall, the hotel reception area is looking a bit tired and was a bit untidy (probably due […] to the continual stream of weddings that seem to take place every Friday/Saturday/Sunday, but it by no means scruffy. Service was very good overall and all the staff I encountered were very pleasant. Nothing exceptional about this place, but a good solid performance that will certainly not harm the Marriott reputation for quality and value for money. Mehr

We had a very comfortable stay at the Marriott when visiting Newcastle for a wedding. The location was convenient, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room and bed were very comfortable. The deal we got through Hotels.com was excellent value. The blue sky and sunshine were an added bonus to a lovely weekend!

I stayed 2 nights in this hotel, because of its convenient proximity to my destination. The hotel, room and leisure centre were clean and well maintained. The service we received from all staff was outstanding. My 5 year old was ill in the car and, when I asked for support, the staff went out of their way to provide cleaning supplies. When we asked […] for information to the cinema, they provided a printed listing. When we asked for directions to Alnwyck castle, they provided printed directions with information to the venue. The staff were cheerful, friendly and courteous. I am a frequent traveller and stay in hotels worldwide - I would highly recommend this hotel as excellent value for money. Mehr

Ideal for shopping at the Metrocentre. Hotels.com got us a luxury room with breakfast which was excellent. We dined in the restaurant on the second evening and while food was good it was 1 hour after we arrived at the restaurant before we were sat at a table. At first we were told it would be 10-15 minutes.

It's a big hotel but the staff are very helpful, friendly and cheerful. Gerry, the concierge, went out of his way to give us information on sightseeing in Newcastle; the staff at reception gave help with restuarants and next day asked us how we got on. We stayed on a special '3 for 2' package, to include breakfast. Great value, lovely room, excellent breakfast. Restaurant staff and Reception staff extremely helpful, polite and a pleasure to deal with. The 'special meal deal' between 6.30 and 7.30 pm well worth having, especially as we didn't want to leave the hotel having had a long journey. In fact […] the restaurant staff did everything possible to make our meal enjoyable. We continually asked for extra 'milk' or the bedroom from the Reception - this was given to us without delay and no quibbles. Would certainly recommend this hotel. Mehr

This is our family's third stay at this hotel. Great rooms and facilities. The breakfast is fantastic. Spa facilities are also fantastic. Just fab as it always is. Close to metrocentre for shopping and lots of places to eat and drink.

My daughters and I thought this hotel was beautiful. Staff very friendly and efficient, room spacious and clean. We have vowed to return and take advantage of the leisure facilities another time. Very handy if you want to go to Metro Centre for shopping. Only minus was the breakfast. The hotel was very busy so there was quite a queue for the dining […] room. We were asked to wait in the bar, which we did, but we didn't hear our name being called for breakfast. The bar is large and was busy so I think more effort should have been made to find us. Once we were given our table no-one asked us for our tea/coffee order and I had to chase someone to do that. Also the croissants were horrible - tasteless and rather stale. Not much choice in breakfast cereal and no porridge on offer. Didn't try the cooked breakfast. Despite the breakfast we would definitely stay again, and look forward to using the tempting leisure facilities. We attended a concert at the Metro Radio Arena - the taxi fare from the hotel was quite a lot so if you are wanting to visit centrally located attractions this is something to bear in mind. Mehr

A lovely place to relax after a long day spent shopping. Rooms are spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The selection at breakfast is outstanding.

the marriot metro centre is a great hotel the staff are extremely helpful the hotel is in a great location close to the metro centre and all its shops and restaurants. The rooms are large and spacious and the breakfast is varied and plentiful. The leisure club is very well equipped and has good opening times. I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now […] and would recommend it. My 18 year old daughter and I booked to stay for a Christmas shopping break. We staed in room 316, which was spacious with 2 double beds. The bedding was of good quality with plenty tea and coffee. There was also an ice machine on our floor. We had an ice bucket in our room, which was good to chill drinks and saved asking for room service.
