This hotel is absolutely perfect in every way. Staff - Food - Cleanliness - Convenience is all there. The shuttle they provide is great. With garage parking there was no cleaning off the car after the snowfall. GREAT!

The Ambassor Hotel is such a beautiful hotel, maintaining its historic roots while totally upgrading the rooms and public spaces. The rooms are enormous, especially for the price. The beds are super comfy and it is nice to have the couches and sitting space for "guests". We like to stay at the Ambassador when we attend concerts at the Rave venue which […] is directly across the street. The location of the hotel is also great for those visiting Marquette, a few blocks away. The neighborhood around the hotel is not the greatest, but it is only a quick cab ride from major Milwaukee points of interest. The staff at the Ambassador is super friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant are very accommodating, good food and reasonably priced. We will definitely return!! Make sure to book the Ambassador Hotel and not the "Inn" across the street which is similar to a Days Inn - nothing at all like the beautiful and well maintained Ambassador Hotel. Mehr

Very friendly staff, free shuttle was very convenient

I have stayed in hundreds of hotels worldwide and am not easily impressed. The Ambassador Hotel was a nice surprise and I easily recommend it. Atop a helpful, cheery staff, the facility is a very nicely redone historic site. We used their van for rides to local sites; a great , readily available choice that saved us time and money over parking costs, […] etc. The beds were comfortable, other room amenities were typical of a nice hotel. Room service charges were surprisingly reasonable. Elevators are updated and modern while retaining the cool, historic brass doors. The neighborhood is not the greatest, but was safe and we had no issues in their patrolled, monitored ample and FREE parking. Freeway access is fairly close. We found a good value, local restaurant for breakfast, only steps away, as we also enjoy local color over others. The one-star review is an unfair post, referring to another hotel! The electrical switch was labeled MASTER, controlling all power to the room; convenient and 'green', versus the room-card system, common in Asia. Highly recommended as a preferred alternative to corporate (formula) hotels! Mehr

I am a regular guest of the Milwaukee Ambassador, however they are starting to slip a little... First, my room was not to their usually large an luxurious standard, it was quite dated and "banged up" while I understand this i an older property, normally the rooms are nicely remodeled, this one was, but clearly had been abused and not repaired. Second, […] Housekeeping is slipping big time. I had to complain twice about sheets on the bed, first because I found hairs in the sheets and the pillows. The second time because they didn't change them when I asked them to the first time! Common people, I don't like sleeping in hotels, and certainly not in someone Else's sheets! Then the check in Experience was less than stellar as I waited for the couple in front of me to argue with the clerk for 25 MINUTES before the clerk thought it might be wise to get some help on the counter... Room Service as always was pricey, but only average. Too bad, this was one of my fav laces to stay in Milwaukee. Mehr

We have stayed at the Ambassador many times and it appears that the hotel is slipping a little. Old frayed towels, stained (but clean) linens, and a staff that does not communicate between shifts has generated some doubt for us. We'll stay another time, but if this trrend continues, we'll look for another hotel. At a discounted rate, this hotel is still […] solid..... for now. Mehr

It was a perfect spot for our family. Hotel is great, and the personnel were always very helpful and friendly. Services, restaurants very very nice.

The staff are so friendly and everyone is quite accomodating and willing and ready to help. All were so pleasant. The hotel is older so there is some detail work that could be done to spruce it up... but overall it was nice and handy access to Highway. Neighborhood is so so.

The hotel service was great and so was the shuttle. The driver had a sense of humor and worked hard to meet the needs of all the guests. Service in the bar was prompt. Cleanliness of the hotel was nice for such an old building. This hotel is a nostalgic return to Art Deco - some of the decor is original. The rooms are large and spacious. The hotel lobby and elevator are fun- the restaurant has good food and the bar is especially nice. This hotel room was wonderful. The bed was comfortable and clean. This was one of the few hotels where I didn't start itching after crawling in bed. The room was HUGE! We were there for several days and had plenty of room to move about, get ready and relax. While the room was heavenly, the front desk was even better!! We added another night last minute […] and discussed it with the front desk clerk. She explained it in such detail to the next shift, that when we came down the next morning to get our new parking permit, all I had to do was introduce myself and she knew the whole story and had our parking pass ready to go. Speaking of parking, there was a TON parking spots available. The hotel is near campus, the casino and a concert venue, but you can't hear a peep from outside once you are inside. It was by far one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. We will be staying here again any time we come to MKE. Mehr

My friends and I did an overnight in Milwaukee and wanted to find a room to accommodate 3 women. We got a king suite that had a king size bed and a large queen sleeper sofa. The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was pleasant and extremely helpful. I had a 2 queen room because it is much larger than a singel room. If your staying for a few days it is the way to go. I also asked for a room on a corner the views are better and there are windows all around. We did the Sunday brunch, which is small plates what a great […] idea!! This way we were able to try several breakfast options and not have too much food!! My only complaint was housekeeping. There was no do not disturb sign and they were knocking on our door at 9am Sunday morning. Mehr

This is a great older deco style hotel in the Marquette area of Milwaukee. The surrounding neighborhood is a bit sketchy but nothing to worry too much about. The rooms in this hotel are larger than your standard hotel and are quite comfortable. I don't remember sleeping that well in a hotel bed in a long time. The bathrooms are small but there is a […] vanity/sink next to the bathroom so two people can be getting ready at the same time. Rooms include minibars, robes and hairdryers. The hotel also offers free wi-fi for 3 days which is a luxury these days. They have a free shuttle service as well so if you don't have a car, no problem. If you do have a car, there is free parking in a lot on site. The hotel is in an ideal location if you are wanting to be close to the downtown area. There is a restaurant inside the hotel as well as a nice bar for a late night cocktail. And for those needing a hot cup of coffee to start your day, there is a coffee shop too. The room was incredibly large and very comfortable. But the shuttle service was exceptional. They will drive you anywhere in Milwaukee and pick you up! No need for taxis or searching for parking.

Lovely room, helpful staff..neighborhood a little far from downtown area. Close to Miller Park. Nice shuttle service.

art deco style and nicely furnished/remodeled.....location about 12 blocks from downtown--safe walk thru marquette univ.....parking well-lit and patrolled by security....excellent breakfast....we got a weekend 2-nite deal which made up for the distance from downtown....friendly staff....only complaints: 11:00 am checkout on sunday morning and tv cable […] very slow to change channels...overall an excellent place to stay! Very nice hotel with attentive staff. The art deco feel was classy. Food pretty good too. Bar swanky with fun 1930's cocktails offered.

I stayed in this hotel for 1 night for business. The room was spacious and clean. The bed very comfortable and the front desk personnel very professional.

Classic hotel completed redone. Room was great and large. Staff do evertying possible to help. Free shuttle to anywhere within the parts of town you would wnat to go. Noit the airport tho. would definitely good back. Bar restaurant and coffe shop. No charge for parking either

This is a great hotel alternative to the downtown hotels. They provide free shuttle service to all the surrounding restaurants, convention center, other hotels, etc. Property was immaculately clean, the personnel went out of their way to be helpful, and the facility is in outstanding shape.

I have stayed at the hotel 2 times now. Will definately stay again when I go back. Staff is wonderful and so are the rooms. Took advantage of the bar, restaurant and room service. Hotel has everything I needed for 3 days. Wonderful hotel in my opinion!

We got a really great rate through Hotels.com...if we had paid full price I would have been pretty unhappy overall. The room was great (had the spa tub), very clean and yes, it has an older feeling to it because it is on the Historic Hotel registry so you have to expect that. The two negatives were the neighborhood is not great, but worse, the HVAC […] in the rooms is hideous! It clanks on with this crazy loud knocking sound and then sounds like a Harley trying to start but can't. This happens about once or twice an hour (if you want to keep your room comfortable) so needless to say, It woke me up about 10 times over night and I had meetings the next morning. Mehr

This is a gorgeous hotel.

This hotel fulfilled and even surpassed my expectations. The art deco / historic hotel is beautiful inside and out, the rooms are huge and comfortable, internet & parking are free and having a cafe, restaurant and bar all on site make it a great place to stay! Staff is friendly and the bath towels are normal-person sized!! (Which I love being a tall […] and not skinny person). The only drawback is that there is no usable refrigerator in the room. There is a fridge full of "pay as you go" snacks and drinks, but there is nowhere to store anything you bring with you, like water, your own beer or snacks. We ended up buying a styrofoam cooler to keep our stuff cool for the weekend. All in all, though, a fantastic place to stay, very close to downtown Milwaukee and some great places around Marquette. It's about 35 min to Alpine Valley which is where we drove to/from twice during our stay to see Pearl Jam's 20th anniv. show. I will recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Milwaukee! Mehr

The hotel staff was exceptional - very friendly and very helpful. The best feature of the hotel is the free shuttle, which was worth its weight in gold. The shuttle only runs once an hour, so plan your trips ahead. The shuttle runs anywhere downtown (but if you ask nicely, the shuttle driver will probably take you where ever you'd like to go - within […] reason). The neighborhood itself is a little shady, but it's right across the street from a great concert venue - The Rave/Eagle's Ballroom. The room itself was comfortable, both in size and in quality. One "complaint" would be that the sheets, blankets, and the floor of the room were all stained. However, everything seemed freshly laundered, so I'm sure the stains were old. All in all, I would recomend this hotel, and would be very willing to stay there again. It's no 4 star hotel, and ou won't be staying in the lap of luxary, but it was comfortable, convenient, and very fairly priced. Mehr

We enjoyed our stay at the Ambassador - quite a nice well preserved Art Deco hotel with updated rooms and a great restaurant.

It was very convenient and the shuttle service was spectacular. We had a memorable time. The hotel and room were lovely. The only negatives were the shower pressure and the service at breakfast, otherwise a dream stay.

This is my new favorite hotel in Milwaukee! It was comfortable and luxurious! I will certainly stay here again!

Beautiful hotel. I was very impressed with how quiet the room was, and we were next to the elevator. Shuttle service worked wonderfully for us.

We were impressed by the friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of our room, and the convenience of the shuttle service.

A 4 star hotel should have much better cable offerings. They don't even have msnbc.

This hotel has comfortable beds and decently appointed rooms but the entire lobby and workout area smells like mildew--the smell is overpowering and when you crank the A/C in your guest room you get a faint whiff of the smell as well. It was so bad that both my husband and I would try to move as quickly through the lobby as possible without breathing. […] The workout room which is a level below the lobby was seriously unbearable the smell was so bad. I asked the front desk if they had flooding or what the cause of the smell was and he said had become used to it and did not notice it anymore. The shuttle service is nice and the bed was comfortable. But really the smell affected the whole trip. Mehr
