Classic hotel completed redone. Room was great and large. Staff do evertying possible to help. Free shuttle to anywhere within the parts of town you would wnat to go. Noit the airport tho. would definitely good back. Bar restaurant and coffe shop. No charge for parking either

This is a great hotel alternative to the downtown hotels. They provide free shuttle service to all the surrounding restaurants, convention center, other hotels, etc. Property was immaculately clean, the personnel went out of their way to be helpful, and the facility is in outstanding shape.

I have stayed at the hotel 2 times now. Will definately stay again when I go back. Staff is wonderful and so are the rooms. Took advantage of the bar, restaurant and room service. Hotel has everything I needed for 3 days. Wonderful hotel in my opinion!

We got a really great rate through Hotels.com...if we had paid full price I would have been pretty unhappy overall. The room was great (had the spa tub), very clean and yes, it has an older feeling to it because it is on the Historic Hotel registry so you have to expect that. The two negatives were the neighborhood is not great, but worse, the HVAC […] in the rooms is hideous! It clanks on with this crazy loud knocking sound and then sounds like a Harley trying to start but can't. This happens about once or twice an hour (if you want to keep your room comfortable) so needless to say, It woke me up about 10 times over night and I had meetings the next morning. Mehr

This is a gorgeous hotel.

This hotel fulfilled and even surpassed my expectations. The art deco / historic hotel is beautiful inside and out, the rooms are huge and comfortable, internet & parking are free and having a cafe, restaurant and bar all on site make it a great place to stay! Staff is friendly and the bath towels are normal-person sized!! (Which I love being a tall […] and not skinny person). The only drawback is that there is no usable refrigerator in the room. There is a fridge full of "pay as you go" snacks and drinks, but there is nowhere to store anything you bring with you, like water, your own beer or snacks. We ended up buying a styrofoam cooler to keep our stuff cool for the weekend. All in all, though, a fantastic place to stay, very close to downtown Milwaukee and some great places around Marquette. It's about 35 min to Alpine Valley which is where we drove to/from twice during our stay to see Pearl Jam's 20th anniv. show. I will recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Milwaukee! Mehr

The hotel staff was exceptional - very friendly and very helpful. The best feature of the hotel is the free shuttle, which was worth its weight in gold. The shuttle only runs once an hour, so plan your trips ahead. The shuttle runs anywhere downtown (but if you ask nicely, the shuttle driver will probably take you where ever you'd like to go - within […] reason). The neighborhood itself is a little shady, but it's right across the street from a great concert venue - The Rave/Eagle's Ballroom. The room itself was comfortable, both in size and in quality. One "complaint" would be that the sheets, blankets, and the floor of the room were all stained. However, everything seemed freshly laundered, so I'm sure the stains were old. All in all, I would recomend this hotel, and would be very willing to stay there again. It's no 4 star hotel, and ou won't be staying in the lap of luxary, but it was comfortable, convenient, and very fairly priced. Mehr

We enjoyed our stay at the Ambassador - quite a nice well preserved Art Deco hotel with updated rooms and a great restaurant.

It was very convenient and the shuttle service was spectacular. We had a memorable time. The hotel and room were lovely. The only negatives were the shower pressure and the service at breakfast, otherwise a dream stay.

This is my new favorite hotel in Milwaukee! It was comfortable and luxurious! I will certainly stay here again!

Beautiful hotel. I was very impressed with how quiet the room was, and we were next to the elevator. Shuttle service worked wonderfully for us.

We were impressed by the friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of our room, and the convenience of the shuttle service.

A 4 star hotel should have much better cable offerings. They don't even have msnbc.

This hotel has comfortable beds and decently appointed rooms but the entire lobby and workout area smells like mildew--the smell is overpowering and when you crank the A/C in your guest room you get a faint whiff of the smell as well. It was so bad that both my husband and I would try to move as quickly through the lobby as possible without breathing. […] The workout room which is a level below the lobby was seriously unbearable the smell was so bad. I asked the front desk if they had flooding or what the cause of the smell was and he said had become used to it and did not notice it anymore. The shuttle service is nice and the bed was comfortable. But really the smell affected the whole trip. Mehr

The Ambassador Hotel isn't real close to the downtown area, but they have a great free shuttle service. The staff was always friendly and very helpful. The hotel was very clean inside and out. We will be back!!!

Best night in a hotel ever!! Staff were so professional but still friendly; excellent service from front desk to bar to restaurant. Everything first rate--big fluffy robes, comfy bed & pillows, huge TV, food was something special; way above average. The hotel has so much historic charm; seems like original light fixtures, etc., yet it is all so well-kept […] and clean. Will definitely make it to the Ambassador again. Mehr

We have stayed here four or five times before! We love it! The Art Deco decor is stunning! The staff members are personable and helpful. The restaurant is wonderful, with a great chef. Room service is inexpensive, with only a $2.50 charge besides the tip. The shuttle service is the best!!!! We do a lot of traveling, and this is our favorite hotel!

The room was excellent and staff was great. Older hotel but very well maintained. Bathroom is small but adequate. Historic hotel in university area. Spacious rooms, charming decor but housekeeping is substandard. This hotel should sparkle but it doesn't quite make it!Restaurant very good.

The Ambassador in Milwaukee is a great place to stay. My husband & I stayed there 6 yrs ago on a retirement trip and were very impressed. We booked a room for the Italian Fest and stayed there again for 2 nights. The service and and accommodations will make anyone feel safe and comfortable. It is pricey but with having free parking and shuttle service […] it makes the price a little easier. The drivers of the shuttle are very friendly and provide good suggestions for places to eat or things to see or do. We have no trouble recommending the Ambassador Hotel for a single person, couple, or family. Mehr

This was our second stay within the year to stay at the Ambassador Hotel and we just love this Hotel. Food is grat thr rooms are great and the staff is just the greatest. Whenever we visit Milwaukee we have to stay at the Ambassador Hotel.

Housekeeping needs improvement. Stayed two nights, housekeeping comes in after first night and barely cleans the room. Replaced towels and soap was about all they did. Certainly helpful but falls short of expectations, when they don't replenish the glassware for water and the coffee cups (all of which had been taken away with room service tray), replenish […] the toilet paper, don't clean coffee table of crumbs and such left from breakfast and left garbage on the nightstand. Not the end of the world on any of it, but certainly pretty basic stuff to expect from a hotel of this supposed caliber. Next trip back to Milwaukee will not include a stay at the Ambassador Hotel. The room size for the regular queen was tiny. Barely room to breathe. It didn't look like a queen bed either. Had to upgrade just to feel like we weren't in a box. Moved to the whirlpool king. Better! But expensive....what set this hotel apart was the food. Outstanding food! Breakfast, lunch, supper were all fantastic. May not stay here again, but would […] definitely come to eat. This Hotel is now on the top of my list of favorites. We just had our first stay there and were extremely pleased with the large room, very comfortable beds, and cleanliness in general of the whole hotel. We will definitely be back!!

We arrived June 5, 2011 past noon time. Our check in was fast with the check in staff ever so gracious and polite, explaining all the amenities at the hotel, giving us brochures for places to visit and see around Milwaukee. I like their way of doing a lunch buffet. You can order from their menu as many times as you want but served in small portion. […] Service was fast and as usual the waitress and staff was polite, courteous and friendly making you feel welcome. The bedroom is spacious,furnished with hair dryer, ironing board, coffee maker, etc and bathroom is very very clean with bathrobes and plenty of towels. Trip to the hotel from the interstate makes you think that this is not a place you want to stay for long but this hotel was a great surprise. Wonderful renovation, great room and friendly staff. Leave your car and take the free shuttle from the hotel. Our entire family enjoyed this hotel a lot!

Great food at the bar. Perfect location if going to the Rave for a concert. Neighborhood is not the best but it could be a lot worse. Room was clean and spacious. Tons of parking available. Shuttle service available. I would stay again.. just don't confuse this with the Inn across the street. I will never stay there again.

This property is very close to downtown Milwaukee (about 8 minutes away) and sits right on one of the main thoroughfares. The hotel is renovated in the art deco style. Our room was comfortable with a nice bed, 40 inch TV, stocked refrigerator, desk and chairs. The hotel clerks were very helpful when needed. The workout room was better than expected. […] The jewel in the crown of this hotel is the restaurant which serves a Euro-American cuisine which was the best fare I've had in a while. The wait staff were professional except for one breakfast when we were seated too close to the kitchen and heard the staff arguing amongst each other. Another plus is the shuttle which operates from 0700 to 2400hrs and takes you pretty much anywhere you wish to go and will pick you up when called. The only serious problem is if you wander west, north or south of the hotel. The neighborhood is scary. Marquette University lies east of the hotel and is much better. I would stay there again. Mehr

We found the Ambassador Hotel by accident on one of those hotel sites that don't tell you the name of the property until after you press "buy," and at first we were nervous about our stay due to the location/neighborhood. But then we arrived and found it to be a lovely, beautifully-restored gem! We've now returned three times, and it's the only place […] we stay in Milwaukee. The staff is friendly, the rooms spacious and comfortable, the restaurant is good, and the location (despite the questionable neighborhood) is convenient to everything we want to do in Milwaukee. The free shuttle service is a big plus, though we've only used it once. All in all, it's a wonderful hotel that we recommend highly. Mehr

Cool historic hotel with nice detail, great bar. Friendly staff. Free shuttle. I will be staying here again for my work trips to Milwaukee. My room was very comfortable.

Definitely my top choice returning to Milwaukee in the future. Was wary at first, but that all disappeared when I stepped inside and saw the gorgeous decor and friendly professional atmosphere of the hotel and staff. The Envoy Lounge is great and comfortable and serves great food. They have an awesome free shuttle service that will drop you off and […] pick you up downtown. Saves on parking and is extremely convenient. The concierge's are extremely knowledgeable about good restaurants, shopping, tourist hot spots and traffic friendly routes. Not to mention they are pet friendly for my 8lb pooch. The staff was so nice and wanted to play and interact with my dog who is well trained. They didn't treat him as a disgusting animal like most hotels would. Highly recommend! Mehr

Excellent service, I accidentally dropped my car keys down the elevator shaft and the maintenance employees retrieved them the next day. Very clean and spacious rooms; however, sheets were stained although clean. I would stay here again!

I had one of those day where I was about ten minutes late for everything and suffice to say I left my house without my wallet and didn't realize it until I reached the hotel......an hour away from my home. I was almost positive that due to the fact that I didn't have my ID, nor the credit card used to make the reservation, I would be unable to check […] into my room. Not so! the gentleman at the front desk helped so far as to give me computer access and allow me to pull up my E-mail confirmation and check in. I'm in my mid twenties and also have extensive tattoos, so often enough I get discriminated against, despite my college education. Again, not so in this situation. A++ I will continue to stay at this hotel anytime I am in the area! Mehr

This hotel was wonderful. It has maintained its old world charm but has been updated with all of the modern conveniences. I will definitely stay here again!

Everything about our stay was great. They tried to keep everything looking like an old hotel, while their remodeling unobtrusively brought everything up to date. Even the elevators had old-time doors you had to swing open, revealing the modern elevator behind. Every contact with staff was extremely positive. They were all very helpful and friendly. We […] were there when some rock concert was going on across the street, and saw people "dressed" for the concert staying next door. We expected to hear a wake-up call of those partiers returning late at night, but we did not hear a peep. Thick old-time walls really make the difference. I was hesitant on staying here, especially with some of the reviews talking about noise from the bar carrying up through the floors. I went into the bar, and they had TVs on watching sports, but nothing loud, and I certainly didn't hear any of that noise even carry through the lobby area. Very comfortable bed, we had a huge room with a full-size couch, lots of pillows, towels, large flatscreen TV, modern air-conditioning controls that worked, and free Wi-Fi. Also they have their own free parking garage, as well as outside parking. One day we asked that they make up the room early, and they replied they would put us first on the list, and sure enough they followed through. We will certainly stay here again when we are in the area. Mehr
