Vieles ist in Ordnung an dem Hotel wie Pool, Garten und Lage am feinsandigen und schattigen Karibikstrand. Liegen und Sonnenschirm standen kostenlos zurVerfügung. Leider wurden die Abende für uns sehr beeinträchtigt durch open air Life-Musikveranstaltungen, die auf dem Hotelgelände in unglaublicher Lautstärke von 8.30 bis 23.00 stattfanden. Danach kehrte […] eine gewisse Ruhe ein. Durch die all inclusive-Versorgung lärmten betrunkene Gäste spät nachts am Pool, im Garten und auf den Gängen weiter und störten die Nachtruhe. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful bneach scenery. Great place to watch glorious sunsets.

The hotel staff was great especially the bartenders and the staff that served and prepared your meals, as well as the managers. We were invited to a managers cocktail, and everyone sang happy birthday to my fiancé which was greatly appreciated. I have stayed here before and was very disappointed to see that things have gone downhill. Very poor internet coverage and out dated rooms even though the bathrooms have been upgraded...the rest of the room looks like it did 10 years ago. No place to get a bite and extremely expensive when you can find a place.

Hotel is very dated.Rooms were totally outdated, The room was dirty and mold in the bathroom and many mosquitoes. The sheets were very dirty and the pillowcases were full of hairs.Meals were low quality and very expensive.The general impression is cheap and awful.WE found our stay at the Halcyon Cove a very frustrating, because of agressive beach operators, […] who sells boat and safari trips.One of them by the name Eddy has threatened to kill us( 4 adults +2 kids) on at least 3 different occasions,first because we have not bought any tour from him, then when we defended a group of 8 Italians , after they were cheated by Eddy of their money -400 Euro!!! Reception stuff did not want to help us and we called the police. We felt very insecure in this hotel , it was a very unpleasant stay. We wouldn't stay there again for FREE!!! Mehr

Rooms were totally outdated, mattress very uncomfortable, slept with a spring in my back. The room was dirty and mold in the bathroom. Bathroom door had hole in it, furniture outdated and chipped. Stayed for 3 nights on our wayto other islands. Hotel comfortable ... not 5 star ... but it doesnt claim to be. Always something to eat that we liked, but choice is not extensive. Beach along the way from Sandals but less crowded, just as clean, and bar just on the beach is great. Great taxi rank outside always plenty of taxis to take you to "the town […] or sites" and fixed displayed price board. Went down to St John's and also English Harbour/Nelsons Dock/Shirley Heights ... well worth a visit. Mainly older people in the hotel , but the evening entertainment on the 2 nights we went to see (out in the open round the bar area) was good fun ... not to mention the fire eater & limbo dancing) Great value .. friendly .. no frills stay. After reading the reviews wasn't sure what to expect at this hotel, When I got there the service was excellent. We arrived late and everyone was very nice. My room was nice and clean and the staff was great. The beach was excellent no complaints there. I didnt have an all inclusive plan because I've had problems in the past with them, but I ate at the […] hotel twice and for me it was just okay. There is really not to many reasonable places close. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would stay there again. The staff definitely gets a 5 on my scale. Mehr

Halycon has a good location on the beach and near to other hotels. Its appearance, however, is dated and so are the rooms but the grounds are well landscaped and immaculately kept, the staff is friendly and welcoming and the food is simple but actually quite good. We had a family room which was very large and comfortable but unfortunately a little close […] to the nightly entertainment. We took the all inclusive plan and the food was pretty good but there is the need for more wait staff at the main restaurant as the lines for seats got quite long at times. I was not impressed by the quality of the drinks which were all uniformly substandard. In summary, this is an affordable option saved by the staff but do not look for luxury Mehr

This hotel is located in an absolutely beautiful location! the view of the mountains is great and the hotel is located on a lovely beach. The actual buildings however, are very outdated and could use a face-lift. It seems like the owner has not done any updating for a number of years, so everything looks old and grey!

We decided to stay at Halcyon Cove for the long weekend. The hotel knew it was my birthday and gave us a free upgrade to a pool/beach view. That was wonderful! They also threw in a bottle of sparkling champagne. While there were some electrical problems, and it was occasionally hard to get pool towels or have the room cleaned (they apparently did not […] have an extra key), overall it was a great deal for the money. We did not do the all-inclusive plan and had lunch once (not good). Also the timing of the food options is not the greatest, so you might want to consider having some snacks around. Plenty of food options outside of the hotel though that were cheaper and MUCH better. The hotel did have a nice happy hour and lots of deals so it made sense for us to pay as we went. The beach there is wonderful, the staff was friendly and managed to get the cake, flowers and champagne that were sent to me (I have had problems with this in the US). The water sports guys were accomodating as well. I would have no qualms recommending this to anyone, just keep in mind that you are not paying for luxury service, but it was well worth the cost, especially compared with Sandals next door. hotels in antigua seem to be situated where guests are forced to do everything within the hotel complex,halcyon cove is no exception. meals are expensive,the tour desk has an incredibly vague service and is not worth bothering with. the tourist industry in general has an obsession with people making use of seriously over priced taxis--why not lay on […] a decent hotel shuttle service?? dickenson bay has a very severe infestation of flying insects that are everywhere! in no time parts of the body will look like a person has chickenpox!! Not a single ounce of luxury, everything is worn out and badly kempt, the general impression is cheap and unwelcoming. However, if you don't mind paying the price of 5 stars (during peak season) for quality that would best be rated as 1 star in Europe, just to be close to the beach, go ahead. At least breakfast is plentiful, and the bird singing puts […] you to sleep at night with a smile on your face. Considering the prices of the other hotels/resorts on the Island, this one was cheap! We booked the hotel as it was value for money and we were only staying two nights. It is a hotel that needs a facelift, whilst everything was clean and comfortable it was all tired and ready for a full revamp. the beach was the best part well kept and inviting. The food was low quality and basic alway buffet style with a poor selection for breakfast. […] Only one restaurant was open for diner or breakfast. I would sum it up as a hotel with friendly enthusiastic staff who were eager to please but a basic hotel which could be compared to a holiday in or premier inn except the bed was not as comfortable. The staff makes the difference as was stated by Mr. Michelin, the General Manager. This is the case with this hotel. Friendly staff and always ready to help. We met and talked to all levels of staff, included security. We played tennis in the morning and always had a chat about the game and were laughing together with the security around the tennis […] courts. This made for a good morning. We were very happy with the cleanliness of the room and surroundings. Beach is great and the Pier Restaurant and Beach Bar real assets for sun and beach focused guests. We always felt safe walking to and from restaurants in the neighborhoods. We did not have "all inclusive" but had a couple of lunches and dinners in the hotel. We were happy with the food and service. Beach activities included watersports and shopping from local vendors. We felt all service providers and suppliers were very courteous and respected our privacy. They were also hardworking. We rented a car from within the hotel and are satisfied with the service. Taxi service was also satisfactory. Again, this hotel offered what we were looking for and we had a 2 week great vacation. Mehr

old and very dirty hotels. The sheets were very very dirty, and the pillowcases were greasy and full of hairs. The room smelled of mildew ,on the ground there were hairs and roaches on the floor, around the refrigerator, in glasses and there were ants on the furniture. In the bathroom the few water was cold and the hot water was missing.

Very nice, slightly older resort on a beautiful beach.

This is an older property on one of the best beaches in Antigua. The facility is a bit shop worn, but very clean and neat. The beach is great, the rooms are spacious, the food is OK, the location is away from town, so if you like to shop it's a taxi ride. Easy to get to and from the airport. Service was excellent! I have stayed in this hotel 3 times in the past month, whilst it is quite run down it serves it purpose. However on my last stay it was horrendos. They put me in a room right next to a bar, where music played full blast untill midnight. Then at 0720 i got a phone call from reception asking for the iron and ironing board to be left outside the room. […] I had virtually no sleep due to having a bout of food poisoning from the restaraunt buffet the previous night. Then to add insult to injury the shower in my room did not work and they gave me another room to shower in on the other side of the hotel, when i reached that room the towels were all dirty and torn. stay in this hotel at your peril. I have never in my life had to check out of a hotel the same day as checking in - the place is awful. I would recommend to anyone to save your money and spend it elsewhere. How they can even justify their tag as a 'hotel' let alone charge people is beyond me. Avoid avoid avoid!

While attending a wedding next door at Sandals, I chose to stay at the Rex for 1/4 of the price Sandals wanted. Now, the Rex wasn't all-inclusive like Sandals, BUT...it's on the same beach, it was clean and comfortable and the staff was quite pleasant, and - mainly - it is a LOT less expensive. As a quick aside, when my colleagues went fishing and […] returned with their fresh catch, the chef gladly prepared several fresh dishes that were absolutely delicious, and for free (we threw him a nice tip, of course)...a BIG thumbs-up for that one. Pros: Price; location; hotel grounds and pool were very well maintained and perfect for my desires; the food was great! Cons: Luke-warm "hot water" and minimal water pressure; slightly outdated, but fully functional. Mehr

We (myself my partner and our 2 year old) have just returned from a short (4 nights) stay and are now at home fully recharged and refreshed. Although the buildings are tired and in need of a refit, the beach was amongst the best i have visited and the staff once you have broken the ice are warm freindly and welcoming. As i mentioned we only stayed a […] few nights but the food was of a pretty good standard for A/I. We risked a meal on the pier (additional charge) after hearing reports of long waiting times before food arrived but were welcomed and served quickly and with charm by our waitress and were back in the main resort within 90 minutes. Our choice of accommodation was standard room which was clean but basic and took our whole stay before our cot/crib arrived. We requested a late check out and on our last day we moved to a sea view suite which although still tired was a vast improvement with large terrace overlooking the beach a separate sitting room and kitchen. The only issue being the vast swarms of mosqito that if armed with a twisted towel become quite the bug safari. Finally i would like to praise the staff involved with the entertainment in and around the pool/beach and bars for keeping the hoards of teenagers laughing and happy. Mehr

I stayed at Halcyon for one night. The service was nice, the room was ok. I only had crumbled bars of soap and the TV remote had dead batteries. The room looked like it had been mopped, but it wasn't a thorough job and the edges were a little dirty. The porch outside my room had a nice view of the beach. Although their prices are much cheaper than other […] Antigua hotels, they get you in the restaurants. I paid a lot for the dinner buffet, and there was only maybe 10 food options. The next morning, I paid a little less, but still a lot of money for the breakfast buffet that consisted of your standard, pancakes/french toast, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, etc. The breakfast was pretty good, but not worth the price. In addition, they have a dress code that you have to wear pants and shirt with collar. Normally, these kinds of rules are for fancy dinner restaurants. But, their restaurant is not fancy at all. All in all, it served my purposes for the one night stay. I'm not sure if I would choose this hotel for my vacation trip though. Mehr

The reservation I made was not for me but for my son and his fiancé. They told me that the hotel maintenence was excellent. They really enjoyed it and highly recommend this hotel!

i could not have ask for a better hotel everything except for the cable on the tv during the day but at night it would come back on,an that was all rt,the meal was good the cleaners did a wonderful job in my room an would defenitely recomend this hotel to anyone

We spent one night here before our Sandals Reservations were ready (Plane scheduling issues). The room was very out dated and dirty. We asked for a bottle of water and they had given us an open bottle. Some good things about the room, the restroom was well maintained, and the room was cool when we arrived.

These guys really want visitors to experience and enjoy their island. Their personal "Good Morning" says it all, and "How can I Help?" The Staff is TOPS and the Beach perfect..Quiet and good snorkling on one end, and a cruise ship on the other. If it gets a little warm, get another beer and stay under water.

When we arrived the staff was very friendly and offered us some fruit juice. The resort was nice to look at but not very functional. It had no breezes at all even with the ocean near by. Second we took the European plan mostly because we were only staying one night. With that I expected to pay for dinner and breakfast, before checking out. However once […] arriving they asked for my voucher that according to them was sent by Hotels.com and we never got. So they put a 200$ hold on my credit card. that lasted nearly a week. Second for Dinner which was a tasty buffet dinner we paid around $50 dollars for the two of us to eat. Then around 14$ for 2 drinks a rum and coke, and an antiguan smile; then for breakfast another around 50$. Kind of priced high. Other than that....The room smelled of paint, there was not direction of the staff. Plus several of the restaraunts werent open the entire time we were there. The view from the beach which was like 50 feet from the room was amazing and beautiful. Thank goodness it was only one night and the other 9 were at sandals.. Mehr

We are able to get a very good price on hotels.com, however, I would never had paid the full price. Hotel is nice, a little old and tired, but has a wonderful beach. It is right next door to Sandals, whose guests paid probably 5 times what I paid, for the same beautiful beach.

The Hotel grounds are fairly well kept. The employees are very friendly and will do whatever they can to accomodate their guests. The real treat is the Beach! You can walk for approximately one mile on some of the finest sand in the world. If you are into Water Sports and other activities, this is the place to stay!

I found my stay at the Halcyon Cove a little frustrating, because it has potential to be a really good hotel, but in the end doesn't live up to that potential. Good things: - Close to the Dickenson Bay, which is a nice (albeit not quite tranquil enough for me) beach. We're talking 2 or 3 minutes to get from the hotel room to the sea. - Room was spacious, […] bed was comfortable, shower worked, bathroom was decent, air conditioning was good. - Pool area is really nice. I did notice the pool was a bit dirty, but this might be because I only went in late in the afternoon. Bad things: - Some staff (though not all) are unhelpful. An example of this was when the coffee machine in my room didn't have the correct plug. When I went to reception, they seemed to be aware of this common problem, yet I had to sit in my room for almost 2 hours (including a second trip to the front desk) until someone came to fix it, which took about 2 minutes. - The internet is $5 for 15 minutes. You'd think as guests are already paying a fair amount for the room, they wouldn't try to rip you off quite so much. And I really don't think people should be expected to carry laptops/iphones round the world with them. - Because I was travelling, I wanted to save some money, but when I went for dinner, there was only one option, which happened to be a buffet, which happened to be really pricey! I asked if there was anywhere around where I could get alternative food, and apparently there wasn't. Oh great! - There wasn't a bin in the room, and there was a lot of dust in the cupboards, I hung up my t-shirts and then realised that they were covered in dust from the hanger. So, overall I thought that as somewhere to relax, it was conveninent and had to potential to be good, but the "computer says no" attitude of some of the staff, as well as the feeling like the hotel was out to squeeze as much money from me as possible during my stay tainted my experience somewhat. Amazing staff very friendly and helpful. I felt As if I stayed with family.

The moment we set foot in the hotel our experience was rather hokey. They strangely require documentation of booked information, number of days staying etc. that they should already have. The shower water was an alarming brown color for a good minute or so before it finally cleared each time we ran the water. Our room was rather bare and could use […] remodeling, particularly the bathroom. It took over an hour to receive towels, despite repeated calls to the front desk. At one point, a maid was standing to the side of our room with towels in hand chatting for a good 20 minutes on her cell phone. When we spotted her she then proceeded to hide from us. She could have stayed on the phone, we just wanted our towels. Despite these setbacks, the resort is in a great location to St. Johns. The price was ok, but my husband and I agreed we would have rather spent the extra money and stayed somewhere a bit nicer. Mehr

I checked in at plastic table that needed paperwork with my confirmation number as their computers were not working. Got put in a room first floor with mold around the tub, AC kept shutting off and tv remote did not work. They upgraded me to a very big suite on the beach. Unfortunately the room was hot, AC Unit could not handle the size of the room, […] the bathroom smelled like the sewer and the tub would not drain. I turned on the shower and brown water came out. Internet in that part of the hotel did not work. It was the worst stay of my life. Mehr

This place is a decent hotel with suitable amenities.It was clean and the people were good. It is not full service but you get what you pay for. It is more relaxed than other places and several locals stayed here when visiting. The food during Breakfast was good and the service outstanding. The prices for extras are brutal. Phone service is bad in Antiqua. […] There is company called Lime that services the Island. Get an unlocked phone and a sim card. This is good all over the islands. The beach was safe at night. It was dark but I felt no real concern for my safety. This place is nice for a bed and place to stay. It is perfect for the overflow of guests if you are staying at Sandals. The room was renovated (not luxury but clean) and spacious. It's a pity that the pillow was not comfortable. A new flat TV, new air conditioner, refrigerator and coffee maker; what else can I expect? We had a sea view room just steps away from the quiet beach. The taxi ride from the airport to Dickenson Bay was $16 (official rate); the next day a […] taxi driver in front of the hotel told us that the ride from this hotel to the market (St. John's) would be $15. Just have a look at the map! It's a rip-off; so we walked to the bus stop;LOL. The bus stop is between this hotel and Sandals and the bus leaves once in every hour. (We checked this the day before.) On a short way to the bus stop we were picked up by a friendly taxi driver who happened to see us with carry-ons and offered us a reasonable price to the next hotel far away.
