We checked in, viewed the room, called Hotels.com to get our money back and went to another hotel down the street. The room was small and dark and smelled of too much cleaning fluids. A/c was a noisy in window type. The bathroom shower was the smallest we'd ever seen in a hotel! Reviews were extremely misleading. Hotels.com was fantastic in helping […] us get out of the situation. Great location, excellent breakfast, helpful and friendly staff made our stay much better than we were expecting.

The purpose of my stay was to visit the NIH which is approx 2 miles away. I stayed at the hotel for one night. Upon arrival at the hotel, i was immediately drawn by the quite beautiful lobby. The room I stayed in was very clean and comfortable. the hotel staff was extremely helpful - not to mention the complimentary water after check in. The only complaint […] which is not a big deal is the breakfast area...It is quite small with a few tables set up. It feels very crowed with only 6 -8 persons. The location of the hotel is very convenient to an array of good restaurants which are all within walking distance. I'd definitely return to the Golden Tulip and recommmend this hotel to anyone planning a stay in the Bethesda area. Mehr

I lliked the hotel, it has a very good location. The only problem is that the rooms are too noisy. the insulation of the windows are so bad that you hear everything happening on the street. We could barely sleep by 3 am

My family and I wanted to take a weekend visit to DC, but I didn't want to drive into DC. Bethesda seemed close enough and had access to the Metro. Bethesda Court Hotel was located only a block and a half away from the Bethesda Metro station which was very convenient. The hotel itself is small, but very well maintained. The front desk staff gave us […] complimentary bottled water and chocolates when we checked in. The room was a good size and the beds were comfortable. Everything was clean. The staff was very helpful in directing us around Bethesda and even DC. There are many restaurants to chose from in walking distance of the hotel, and the complimentary breakfast was nice. The only issue we had was that sometimes the elevator didn't work, but it's only a 3 story hotel... not a huge deal for us. Mehr

Very helpful, professional staff. Clean rooms. Neighborhood is full of great restaurants. Close to Metro. Will stay here whenever I am in the DC area.

In these days dominated by large, chain hotels, it was refreshing to stay at a small hotel with a personal, comfortable feel. Don't expect fancy, but the rooms are clean and comfortable and the service is excellent. For example, I was running late to catch my train back to New York and so hotel staff arranged for their car to drive me to the Metro station […] -- without charge! My advice is to stay here, and spend the money that you will save eating dinner at one of the excellent restaurants in the area. One note --the name Golden Tulip is written in fairly small letters. I was alerted to this by another reviewer, so was looking out for this. Mehr

We were very pleased with our stay. The room was quiet which we did not expect on Wisconsin Ave. The front desk responded quickly with our one request for additonal blankets. We both sleep in cold bedrooms. The breakfast was good and the coffee excellent. We have already recommended the hotel to our son's mother-ion-law.

The heater in the room was either too hot or not warm enough.

This well located hotel is friendly, cozy and inviting. It is not fancy or very modern but a good value and well kept. The free breakfast is fine but served in a smallish area. Just outside this area however, is a large living room type lobby area. People would sit on the sofas and chairs and read the provided papers or use the available computers. […] Outside there is a large patio area with outdoor furniture. At the time I stayed, parking was $14 a day but the surrounding public parking was no less expensive. I felt the car was pretty safe there, off the street, and I took the Metro instead. Traffic is terrible during an extended morning and evening rush hour on the main street, Wisconsin Ave., and the Metro is only 2 blocks away, so leave the car in the lot. The surrounding area has plenty of eating places and a Safeway market is on the same block on the otherside of a walk through plaza. If You are visiting NIH or Bethesda Navy Hospital, it is a 15 minute walk. Overall, a good, comfortable place and a good value for an otherwise expensive area, with a very nice staff. As usual, when I book a king I get a double. Room was nice though.

This hotel was really great! There was a little mix up when checking in, but they ended up upgrading at no extra price. The room was very clean, and VERY comfortable. The location was great, very close to the metro which was very convenient. I would highly recommend this.

From the very first, everyone was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Parking lot is small, but a welcome addition. Would certainly return in future.

Clean neat room with small refrig & microwave and very comfy beds. Our room overlooked a pretty garden oasis in the heart of Bethesda. It was walking distance to many nice restaurants and it included a lovely continental breakfast! I thought it was a great value!

We came for a week.The service was more then OK /the people at the front desk were nice and polite. It was very close to the metro so it was convinient

Once I finally found it after U turning many times. I think it is a diamond in the rough. The condition of hotel wasn't newly renovated but good enough. The location was great. So many great shops and restaurants in walking distance. I'll be back.

For the money, this is the best buy one could find. Very comfortable. Very clean. Very convenient to the metro. The only problem I had was with the heating unit in my room which, while operational, seemed to leave the room a little too warm or a little too cold.

Te exterior is deceiving. This hotel is a lot more charming than you'd expect. Staff is super friendly and helpful. My special request was taken care of in 5 minutes and that was long before regulsr check-in. Candy at check-in. Free bottled water! a sweet garden courtyard where I sat and watched bunnies in the evening. Free wifi and continental breakfast. […] Shiuttle service in a CAR within 5 miles. A better value than other area hotels. Great location for eateries and local business. Mehr

The air conditiion and 6 inches of dust in the room had given me an sinus infection after my miserable stay. The hotel was difficult to find as it was called something else. The front desk service was not very nice and when I asked where my room was she became very upset with me because she forgot to tell me. Oh and they charge $14.00 per day for parking. […] I don't remember reading about that charge. There was 6 inches of dust on the bathroom vent. Room was small and no extra pillows or blankets. The beds were old and squeaky and needed to be replaced. No I would not stay there for the money I paid, should have been a better room. Mehr

The breakfast which was included in the price was awesome!

Overall this is a great hotel to stay in at a reasonable price within proximity to the DC area. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. My only grip is with the loudness of the AC unit and during the night, the low battery alarm, for the smoke detector, came on.

Had a one night stay in Bethesda. Previously stayed at another hotel which was booked. Found the Golden Tulip online not having heard of it before. It was ideally located for my visit. Arrived very late but the staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean and I would definitely recommend it especially for business travellers.

It wasn't I who stayed but my Wife, daughter and grand daughter. They enjoyed it very much. Especially being able to walk to everything they needed. They were there to show my Grand daughter Washington DC and it was successful. They didn't see it all but enough to interest a return. Your hotel will be where we/they stay if rooms are available.

The room was excellent at a very reasonable price. The hotel has a nice back yard. Breakfast is stand-up American and OK. Location in Bethesda is very good and the hotel parking is convenient.

Very difficult to find on a busy street-should be called Bethesda Court Hotel as Golden Tulip sign is tiny and on front of bldg, which is set back from the street. Hotel itself convenient to Metro and DC-nice complementary breakfast. **Address and phone do not print on reservation so make sure you have them.

GOOD PLACE , BUT HAD TO PAY FOR EXTRA VEH PARKING

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. The location is great and the rooms were nicely appointed and comfortable. Front desk staff were cordial. Only complaint, a small one, was an air conditioning unit that seemed to have a bad thermostat.

upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted professionally and warmly by the staff. The hotel is well-priced and the staff tries to make your stay pleasure. Lots of "amenities" that higher priced hotels do not offer: free wi-fi, free bottles of water, chocolate & breakfast. They have a lovely garden courtyard too. Great value. I booked this hotel for my wife and her twin sister, thinking the Golden Tulip brand was a reliable one. Well, they had trouble finding the hotel because "Golden Tulip" was nowhere to be seen on the signage. But that was the least of their difficulties. It took 20 minutes to check in, mostly because the front desk clerk didn't seem to know how to deal […] with Hotels.com/Expedia reservations. He was openly rude to my wife, and then cut keys that didn't work in the door. The women weren't terribly impress with the hotel, either. For its quality--old-style model, barely updated--it's overpriced. The location is great, and my wife makes frequent trips to the Washington area on business. But I'll book her elsewhere in the future. Mehr

Excellent location with many nice restaurants nearby. Five minutes from the subway.
