Macdonald Swan's Nest Hotel - Stratford-upon-Avon

I had booked a double room but was allocated a small room which was fine this time as I was staying alone. Didn't eat in the hotel or go to the bar as there appeared to be a celebratory event which meant those areas were busy and noisy. Reception staff were helpful. You have to pay to park but I arrived by train so not a problem for me.

Hotel is five minutes walk from the canal system and Shakespeare Theatre, with easy access across a footbridge. Staff are very pleasant and helpful, particularly the gentleman who booked us in.We didn't eat in the hotel as Stratford is 'awash' with good eating places. However, as a real-ale fan I was impressed by the range and quality of ales on offer […] in the hotel bar (seven when we were there). There is a charge for the car park but at £5.00 for the four days we were there, the charge seems reasonable, setting aside the fact that being charged to park while I've already paid to stay in a hotel 'rankles' a little. This isn't meant as a criticism of this hotel - just a general observation. We'll probably stay here again on our next visit. Mehr

We came to the Swans nest for our Ruby wedding anniversary as we never made it here for our honeymoon as our car broke down! The hotel is much bigger now than it was then. We were in a room at the back of the hotel and could just see the river. We found the room small so ended up being very cluttered with shoes cases etc. We enjoyed the use of the gym […] at the sister hotel across the road. The Hotel is ideally situated for the theater and walking into town for sight seeing or shopping (we managed both). We had a wonderful meal in the Hotel Bistro on the night of our anniversary and enjoyed our 2 night stay. Mehr

Suprisingly very quiet hotel Welcoming and cosy.A very varied breakfast menu Our choices were delicious.THe location was great so close to RSC theatre and good shops and fooderiesWe.had a great weekend

The hotel was ok, but we were a bit disappointed with having to pay for every additional aspect (parking/ wifi/breakfast). It was functional, and in a good location, but a bit rough round the edges.

My husband and I had a fabulous long weekend at this hotel. The hotel restaurant is excellent and the bar is fab! Would go back at any point.

Exceptionally helpful Front-of-House staff, in particular, 'Robert'; this was sustained throughout our stay by the restaurant staff and many others. Quality of accomodation to facilitate my disabled wife was outstanding.

Decent standard but pillowcases smelt like they hadn't been changed recently.

Hotel well positioned for access to downtown Stratford. Comfortable accommodation, but didn't dine in-house due to other activities.

The hotel is very well located and the "Le Bistro Pierre" restaurant is fantastic.

Staff very helpful. Car park full but you can park at sister hotel opposite and staff offered help with luggage. Good breakfast in delightful riverside dining room. Excellent situation. only 5 to 10 minutes walk to all major attractions.

Comfort of rooms was spoiled by lack of air conditioning, but otherwise everything was very good - good beers, good service, good breakfast.

Excellent hotel, well situated and very comfortable. My only gripe is that I was charged £2 for a disposable toothbrush and miniscule amount of toothpaste!

Great location and good quality hotel, particularly at a discounted rate. Also good public areas with pub and restaurant. Room very comfortable with good bathroom, though bedroom a little compact for a longer stay. Only drawback was car parking. Car park is available and good size but was extremely busy--seems to be used by many non residents.

We checked in for a night to stay close to our daughter who lives in Stratford-upon-Avon, we were going up to Birmingham for a show and wanted to stay overnight before going home. Michelle at reception was very helpful, patient and informative, she got us checked in without any bother and gave us a lot of valuable information about the hotel facilities […] before we went up to our room. The room was spacious, the air-conditioning was extremely welcome and we had a lovely view into the square garden courtyard. Even being right beside the road the hotel was quiet and nothing disturbed our rest. Being quite fussy sleepers we didn't expect to do particularly well in a new bed for the night, but we both slept incredibly well, through our alarm the next morning and enjoyed a cup of tea in bed before getting up. The bathroom was roomy and very clean, the facilities are great and there's nothing to beat a good strong shower in the morning. It was a great stay in a lovely central hotel and we'll be staying there again at the next opportunity. Mehr

We had room 62 which smelt of damp/soil, they moved us to another room at 1am. Room are ok, this hotel has a great location for exploring the town, which is'nt much, Windsor is soooooo much better.

We found the hotel to be ideally situated for the town, it is a short walk (5 mins) over the bridge and you are in the main part of Stratford upon Avon. It is right next to the river and the Butterfly farm is next door. When we pulled up we were a bit concerned as it is right on the road and we were worried about noise, but our room was overlooking […] an internal courtyard area so this was not an issue. I felt that the Hotel itself had a bit of an institutional look in the corridors, but the room was lovely (we stayed in a standard double room). We felt breakfast was a bit expensive, so we walked across the river and ate in town in the morning. We ate in the restaurant one evening and we had the early bird menu and found it excellent value for money. Parking was free and when we checked out we asked if we could leave the car in the car park as we were not planning to leave Stratford until late afternoon and they said it would be okay. I would definately return to this hotel and would recommed it to my friends. Mehr

I was very pleased with this hotel. It was centrally located and the hotel staff was very helpful. They secured our luggage for us after check-out while we were sightseeing and also called a taxi for us when we returned to get our luggage.

４月下旬２泊しました。エイボン川ほとりにあり、橋のすぐそば。見つけられやすい場所にあります。シェイクスピアの生家などの観光地や食事をする場所などは、橋を渡らなければなりませんが、近くですので、問題ありません。静かに快適に過ごすことができました。ホテルフロント、レストラン内の従業員もみな親切で感じよく、気持ちよく過ごすことができました。一つだけ問題があったとすれば、洗面所の水の出が悪かったことです。
