Comfort Inn South Oceanfront - Nags Head

Would have been better if the weather cooperated, but maybe the best of my vacation as far as hotels.

The internet was down and we depend on it on a daily basis. First person we talked to at the desk insisted it was functional because the computer in the lobby was functional. It went down some time Sunday morning and was still not functional by the time we checked out Monday.

my mom and i stayed here for thanksgiving with family nearby, it was right on the beach which was awesome, the location was perfect and the breakfast was a great addition. I would stay here again.

I didn't enjoy listening to someone urinate while I was lying in bed. The place felt grungy.

the room was not as clean as I would have liked. The door jam was messed up/broken, not enough towels knowing ahead of time that 3 adults would be sharing the room. Refrigerator was barely cold. Breakfast was mediocre, at best. I had stayed her 2 years ago, and it seemed much nicer then. I was a bit disappointed this time around.

The room was comfortable, clean, and generally OK. The public areas are worn and in need of updating. The breakfast included with the room was pretty good and included cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, donuts, fruit, yogurt, make your own waffles, and few other odds and ends. It was near a pier which was fun because we could watch people fishing […] from the pier. It was not a quite beach since there were a large group of fisherman that came out early to surf fish. I would stay at Comfort Inn in Nags Head again. Their continental breakfast which included eggs, sausage, gravy / biscuits, etc. was good.

Hotel is old, needs to be renovated. Bedspread was old/tattered. TV didn't work. Shower had leak above. Countertop had cigarette burns. Dreadful. Don't stay here.

The hotel was clean. It is just an older establishment and needs some upgrades, especially in the lobby and dining area.

Great location. If you have a pet - this hotel is the one for you. Good continental breakfast. The rooms are a little old and outdated, but you go to the beach to go to the beach.

The hotel has seen better days but, oh, my, location, location, location. It is not near the beach, It is ON the beach. The front rooms therefore have peerless beach views and hotel guests can step onto the beach from a downstairs deck - where they will meet a fit young beach boy who rents out chairs and umbrellas. Breakfasts downstairs were hearty and good. The guest laundry was a bit of a mystery. One had to learn to go buy the soap powder from the front desk upstairs. The Outer Banks is not geared toward hotel stays, rather renting houses or condos. So it's not a wonder that the hotel, while awesomely located on the beach, is a bit out dated and beat up. 1. The ceiling in our room LEAKED from the upstairs unit, causing water torture noise all night and a funky smell and a 1:00AM flood panic. NO rate reduction or […] offer of a new room. 2. "Fitness Room" - is 1 treadmill & 1 weight machine in a mini office sized room at front desk. 3. Ice Machines - only work on certain floors 5&3. 4. Staff - nice, but apathetic about any concerns you might have. 5. Breakfast - served 6:30-9:30, attended 9:00-9:30 by all guests. Cheap and questionable. 1 waffle maker works, one doesn't. bad coffee. Friendly breakfast staff. 6. Pool and outside deck is actually pretty nice and seems well kept. Overall - if it's a last minute trip and your only option for a place to stay, you will survive. Just bring a pillow from home and extra body wash. And expect a beach dive hotel. You are paying for a spot on the beach and a place to crash at night, not a facy hotel. Most of the other people staying there seemed like normal people of a variety of types looking for a hotel on the beach to check out the Outer Banks without renting a house. my wife, my dog, and I were down there for a wedding at jeanettes pier. it was walking distance from the pier and other nice restaurants. only bad thing was we paid for an oceanfront room and ended up being stuck on the 2nd floor by the pool and couldnt see the ocean.

Hotel is a little worn down mainly do to the harsh ocean environment and the age of the hotel. But what do you expect when you go to the beach; sand gets into everything but the location right on the beach made up for any shortcomings. Staff was wonderful. Breakfast was great. When I called to make the reservation, I specifically asked for an oceanview but instead I had a side street view looking down into a dumpster. Pretty good location, room needs updated other than that trip was great.. We were in NC to kite board. A bit to far to travel to Hatteras area, food was great. Ocean view was great.

I was very disappointed in my stay. Obviously, the photographs of the hotel are very old and it is definitely time for a MAJOR renovation! My bathroom door would not close, the staff did not follow through on promises, the lobby was bare with no brochures on area attractions available, the pool area was dirty, and the lobby bathrooms were inconvenient […] (on a different floor) and dirty and smelly. I cannot say enough for the people with whom we dealt while at this hotel. Everyone was very courteous and pleasant during the whole stay. I don't think you can find anything better for the money on the Outer Banks. I eapecially want to mention how much we enjoyed the large gathering deck on the second floor. Excellent hotel if you have pets. Very pet friendly. Friendly staff. Very good free breakfast with fresh strawberries and great staff that made sure food did not run out as often happens at free breakfasts.

we needed a last minute hotel that accepted pets, and we were in luck to find this hotel had a room on a sat. in July! , We wanted to introduce our Lab. puppy to the beach, and not only did we have a great time, but she had a great time, too!

No air in the halls and the place,including the lobby, was full of flies. In my opinion,based on observations, the structure itself is in disrepair and would be unsafe in a storm.

Our stay was uneventful. It was apparent that the hotel had undergone recent updates. The carpet in all common areas appeared fairly new as did carpeting. Paint appeared fresh. My only complaint were the large number of flys inside the lobby and the breakfast area. Everyone was constantly waving away the flys from their food. Very maddening and unpleasant. The only other comment I would make is the cost of the room vs. the condition and age of the facility. At that price I would expect a much nicer and more modern building. The overall condition of the motel, was well-used and a bit worn. The bed was comfortable, AC control was good, but a bit noisy. Poor view from our room - Garbage bin!. The elevators worked, the ice machines always had ice, the breakfast was adequate, and the staff was helpful and polite. The parking was good, the public areas were nice, and the beach was fine. Nothing to dislike about the Comfort Inn South.
