We liked it very much. Spectacular view on the vulcano, nice big room. People are so friendly. Just felt sorry not to have breakfast. But there is a market nearby and it was finally nice to have a breakfast on the big terrace. Aqua Lotus FOREVER

We found the Aqua Lotus to be great value for money. Contemporary feel, clean, and attentive staff. The best part for us, however, was the location. It is on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki right next to the park and most importantly away from the hustle, bustle and noise of the strip. It was a quiet oasis - and still just an easy stroll to the strip. […] The park is beautiful and the beach (100 meters from the hotel) is probably the best swim/snorkel beach at Waikiki. We loved it. The front desk service to valet were extremely helpful and friendly. Free wine in the evenings, free bike rental, soft beds, awesome pillows, great view of Diamond Head AND ocean for a great value. DEFINITELY would stay here again!

All rooms face east, towards Diamond Head, so don't worry too much about getting a good view -- unless you end up on one of the lower floors near the parking lot. My room was very 'Zen' -- platform bed, nice wood furniture, and beige bath tile. There was a shower (no tub), so be sure to ask if that's important to you. The hotel is about as far from […] the central Waikiki beach as you can get, so be ready to walk if you plan to spend time there. Instead, there is a small beach past the parking lot and between the neighboring condos, which is a good place to stretch out. Large, comfortable room close to beach with great view of Diamondhead. TV is old--not flat screen/HD, but we weren't in our room enough for that to be a big concern. Only criticism is dining room is closed, & only close by dining was super-expensive. Personnel very friendly & accommodating.

Room too small. No chair to relax in. No continental breakfast, No restaurant in the hotel.

It's a little walk into Waikiki, although there's a nice beach very close to the hotel. It's fairly quiet around this area. We saw very few staff at the hotel, although it appeared to be well run. Actually, we saw very few people full stop there! We'd been told Waikiki was roudy and that this was the quieter area, although we found Waikiki very nice […] (maybe it was the time we went, September). No tea/coffee in the room. Mehr

Only 55 rooms and several recent owners. Tired and bathrooms are dated but comfortable, quiet, and good location out of the downtown noise. Well worth it to get the deluxe ocean view room with Diamond Head view. Ocean views are between buildings or distance. Not beachfront but one layer back. Terrific view of Diamond Head in morning. Next to Outrigger […] Canoe Club if you have reciprocal memebership from elsewhere. Mehr

This was my first-ever visit to Hawaii and I travelled solo, so I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the best place for me to stay. I did not want to be in the midst of tourist-central Waikiki but I also did not want to be somewhere isolated and alone. This hotel was PERFECT for me. I loved starting each day with my 10-minute walk through Kapiolani […] Park -- so beautiful and "real." Then I was in Waikiki getting coffee at Starbucks and could go anywhere I wanted from there. I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Also, the view of Diamond Head from my balcony was gorgeous. I could have sat out there all morning with a coffee and a book. The Hotel is well located, east of the main shopping area at Waikiki right by the beach. There are surfing breaks along the coast in each direction about ½ mile each way,; maybe a little more. It is a comfortable walk to shopping or restaurants. The hotel next door has the best breakfast restaurant in the area not cheap but excellent food and coffee. […] The Diamond Head views are great; the ocean views would be a misnomer because there are two condos that have a view of the ocean in front of you. The service within the hotel from the valet is excellent. Valet costs money and is required. The hotel is on a one way street so it is difficult to navigate to the first time. The parks next door fill up with homeless and campers camping in the park by the beach. I never felt at risk and was comfortable walking to and from the shopping restaurant and bar areas. The lobby is odd. This is a great place if you want a good sleep, and don’t want to spend all your time in the hotel. Also it is essential to have car if you plan visiting this hotel. The Lotus is ideal for our needs - well located, quiet, clean and convenient, with courteous and efficient staff and a reasonable price. The beaches here are nicer and less crowded, and the restaurant next door is better than any others we have tried. It is on the eastern edge of Waikiki and therefore requires a bit of a walk to other restaurants etc, […] but it is a safe and pleasant hike along the beach or through the park. The Lotus is a very clean hotel close to Wikiki Beach. The hotel is very secure and comfortable.

This lovely hotel allowed us to be ourselves away from Waikiki Beach, which is extremely crowded. Sans Souci Beach is just around the corner, and is much less crowded. If you want to see more than the beach and shopping --> rent a car and explore! Especially the North Shore was amazing. We <3 Oahu!

We stayed for one week and it was the best location for us. Clean room, great staff!!!! We will be back :)

It was nice to stay at the peaceful end of the island and be within walking distance to the Waikiki "action". We didn't realize that the hotel sits back behind another hotel on the beachside and we weren't too thrilled that there wasn't a pool (which I missed when booking it). We stayed in the Lotus at Diamond Head hotel for 4 nights. This is a small, older hotel very tastefully redecorated. Location is fantastic basically in the quiet park area yet walking distance to Waikiki, Diamond Head and 3 minutes from the beach. We were upgraded into the corner room which was very comfortable and spacious . We had a great view at […] Diamond Head volcano and partly ocean view as well. This hotel was not worth the price to stay here. I had the choice to stay at a Hilton or this hotel for the same price. The Hilton is in walking distance to shops and restaurants. This hotel has nothing. Honestly, I am not sure how they got the high star rating. The employees were nice but not well versed when it came to giving their opinions on tourist […] attractions. This is a great hotel to stay at if you are trying to get away from the hubbub of the city. The way the hotel is laid out looks like all rooms have great views. There is a restaurant in the hotel next to this one but it is fine dining and very very expensive. This hotel is right on the beech. The room that we had was very nice and clean. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay this is the hotel for you. If you are a city person and like the noise of the city, to be close to dining and shopping then this is not the place for you. This hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the main Waikiki flesh pots. The walk is along the beach on a comfortable beach walk, along a big park. The hotel itself is very comfortable with large rooms. It does not have an operating restaurant but the beach lanai restaurant in the next door hotel is available and delightful. And the walk to Waikiki central […] is comfortable and brings you to restaurants, shops, and all the activities you could wish for. I would definitely stay there again. I knew that the restaurant was closed for some time leading up to my stay at teh hotel but expected it to be open by the time I arrived. I was wrong. The restaurant was closed, with no opening date in sight. You have no idea how much of an inconvience it is to not have a restaurant readily available until you experience it. Quiet location with excellent view of Diamond Head and parts of the beach, well removed from the noise and chaos of the major Waikiki hotels but still an easy walk to the popular beaches and restaurants, including a good one on the beach next door. Great older hotel with nice upkeep. Staff was very helpful and professional. Nice beach/park location off beaten path.

No doubt its good value and for last minute stays you can do even better than i did. The staff go out of their way to help and advise you in every aspect. The rooms are large and the corner room i had was very well decorated. It was much quieter than Waikiki Beach where I stayed previously. The bathroom is large too. I was on level 4 which was too low […] for a really good view of Diamond Head. I suggest that you go for level 6 or above. The single lift is slow and small. The hotel is not on the beach you will be directed to the New Otani Kaimana for meals. The Otani has a superb restaurant under ancient Hibiscus trees, but its pricey. You are in walking distance to the main beachfront so that is not an issue and the trolley buses pass by across the park. These trolleys take you on a tourist loop up to Diamond Crater and back to Waikiki Beach. For access to the airport from the Lotus i took a cab and it was quicker than from Waikiki Beach as they could by-pass the city. The roads in Honolulu get very slow at some times of the day so allow extra time to be there for your flight. Mehr

THE VIEWS WERE AWESOME...A LOT OF WALKING TO GET THERE...IT IS UNDER DIAMOND HEAD...

The room was not clean. One day, they didn't even do anything and just took the tip. The staffs were very kind and helpful though. I think they need to change the elevator.

Location was within walking distance of so many areas, park, beach, shopping, museum, etc. The room was clean and service was excellent. The bed could have been firmer and I wished their restaurant wasn't undergoing reconstruction.

The location is very nice... a quiet spot away from downtown Waikiki. However, it is about a mile away from the edge of Waikiki hot spots. Staying in Waikiki is noisy as you would expect in city so this hotel is away from city but close enough. Park is right in front of this place... great for those joggers. The bathroom is 4 star. It has an unique […] square shallow shower/bathtub unit. The showerhead is a 5 star caliber... really would drown you if you are not careful... lol. Decor of the bathroom is 5 star caliber but most 5 star hotel I go to have even triple the size of this bathroom with separate bathtub and shower place. So this is a nice balance. The bed is different from all the hotels I been to. This is a foam matress... it is on the soft side but is soft of like Japanese mattress... with a very nice thick wool/cotton matress pad. The sheets are of those 4/5 star hotels... I think close to 500 threadcounts and definitely luxury Japanese style comfortor. Great pillows at this place too. Furnitures in my unit is of high grade... I cannot fault anything here... The room has built in central AC which is super quiet. You are gonna have great sleep at this place. Everything is valet at this place... parking and concierge. They will handle all your luggages and car parking... I suppose this is what all 4 or 5 star with concierge services are like... Never had one so it makes it easy for us... no worry about dinging other cars or parking space... One less hustle for you. Just tip them a bit and they will treat you like a king and queen. Defintely great services here... from check in to check out.... so easy. Shicking for me but great experience. I stayed in other location in downtown Waikiki and I gotta tell you... even at 35th floor... city is noisy... I am not even used to it so it was harder to sleep. So the question is what are you looking for... great sleep and quiet spot or in the city light and grind... both are great and you can't go wrong either way. Mehr

This former W hotel is still a gem in many ways. Nice staff and clean, in a really nice area next to Diamond Head. The hotel is dated with older furniture and the restaurant is closed for now. The four star rating is a STRETCH. Given this, I enjoyed the stay.

The property remains in appearance and amenities the same when it was a W Hotel in the Starwood chain. The on-site bar and restaurant is being renovated with expected reopened in the winter/spring of 2011. The location to Kapoliani Park, Diamond Head Crator and close enough to the Waikiki District is a plus, but very quiet in the evening for sleep. […] Overall it is worth a stay during the off-peak season at better rates than during high-season with much higher pricing. Bed was comfortable. Had to ask for coffee maker but was provided one. Room could have used more seating but it was adequate. Balcony was nice with view of Diamond Head and slight view of ocean. $15/day valet fee was pricy but they did a good job of having my car ready when I needed it. Not convenient to good selection of restaurants or public beach […] access. Was hard to find because the sign is small. Service was overall very good and price was good. No serious complaints. Mehr

We stayed at the Lotus Hotel in Honolulu after reading reviews in Hotels.com. We were so happy we did! Our review is based on a stay of 20 days, so we really got to experience the hotel. Check in was very warm and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. The location of the hotel is away from the crush of the Waikiki strip, and was something we loved! […] We walked to the central part of Waikiki in about 10 minutes each day, which was great, considering we ate at any number of restaurants in the area, then walked it off a bit! The great part about this is that we escaped the ever present noise level that the strip offers. We enjoyed our balcony every evening with peace and quiet! Other reviewers have downgraded ratings due to a "slow" elevator. I don't see what the issue is. The hotel only has 60 rooms, so yes, there are NOT 10 elevators running at full speed! There is one elevator, and STAIRS to service 60 rooms. The elevator was plenty fast enough! One thing we felt the hotel really does owe guests is to update the furniture in the rooms. (We saw a total of 4 rooms during our stay due to friends staying as well) MUCH of the furniture was outdated, scratched, and chipped, and of poor quality to begin with. Hello IKEA?? The hotel restaurant was closed during our stay, but we NEVER like to eat at hotels....we want to see restaurants in the neighborhoods! But for those who need to dine at the hotel, the Lotus works with a local delivery service that can offer meals to your room from over a dozen different restaurants in the area. One thing readers might consider is that prices in the Waikiki area do vary quite a bit. One can spend much less than $100 per night or much more than $300 a night for a hotel in Waikiki. Once here, we actually visited 7 different hotels to see what a standard room looked like Vs. the price of a room. Cool Breeze from the ocean and a nice view of Diamond Head

We wanted a quiet Waikiki location-we got it. With views of Diamond Head and the ocean from our lanai, we enjoyed the large room, and bath. Clean, and by the park, great for hitting the jogging trails. The only downside was no in house restaurant or lounge, but they had reciprocal agreements (signing to your room) privileges with three restaurants in […] the area. $15.00 valet parking fee was cheap compared to Seattle and Portland prices.
