Gutes Hotel, in unmittelbarer Nähe zur Wallstreet , am südlichsten Ende des Broadway. Sehr nette Bedienung. Enges aber sauberes Zimmer mit zwei Kingsize-Betten.

Großes Zimmer, gute Betten. Bei Zimmern nach hinten raus kann man bei offenem Fenster schlafen. Internet fürs Zimmer zu teuer. Im Bad leichter Renovierungsstau. Frühstück im Hotelrestaurant empfehlenswert, sehr nette Bedienung. Infostand für Sightseeing im Hotel sehr gut. Karten tlw. kostenfrei. Mexik. Pub +Chinarestaurant ca. 200 m entfernt. U-Bahn ca. 400m weg.

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Hotel. Das Zimmer war sauber, zweckmäßig und der Service freundlich und aufmerksam. In direkter Nähe befinden sich viele Sehenswürdigkeiten (Stock Exchange, 9/11 Memorial, Trinity Church) und man erreicht 3 verschiedene Subway-Stationen innerhalb weniger Gehminuten. Außerdem die Fähre nach LongIsland bzw. den Anleger für die Boote zur Freiheitsstatue und Elis Island. Da an der Wallstreet Abends/ Nachts nicht ganz so viel los ist, kann man - für NYC-Verhältnisse - relativ ruhig schlafen, v.a. im Vergleich mit der Gegend rund um den TimesSquare usw. Ein kleines, aber feines, familiengeführtes (so schien es) Hotel, dass wir auf alle Fälle weiterempfehlen würden!

Hotel liegt phänomenal gut, die Gesamtanlage und der Service sind sehr gut. Allerdings hatte man uns zuerst ein viel zu kleines und stark verschmutztes Zimmer im 3. Geschoss mit dem Auslass der Großklimaanlage direkt vor dem Fenster angeboten (Lärm!), das war auch so nicht gebucht. Reklamation war aber sofort möglich und iwr bekamen ein anderes Zimmer, das dann sehr schön war.

Nice place...only downfall small beds. My husbands feet were off the edge, but overall for a NYC hotel at the price can't beat it :)

Relatively new conversion from apartments. The rooms are average size for NYC (i.e., very small for the price compared to any other US city). Our room had a single small window that looked out on a brick wall, but I am not complaining. An interior window is a blessing, because there was no street noise. We had a few issues eg the window didnt close properly and the general conditions of the windows weren't that good so it was a bit loud at night.. "Great staff, comfy room"
We stayed for 6 nights and had a good experience. The staff were very warm and welcoming and were very prompt to respond to requests for assistance (when we could not open our in-room safe). The room was clean and well appointed, but it lacked a kettle - we would have loved to have been able to make a coffee on waking up! The bathroom was very clean, […] if a little careworn and small. Our room faced away from the street (for which we were grateful) but the noise from the building's atrium where the aircon vents were, was enough to disturb our sleep every night. This was the only downside really; if I stayed there again, which I would, I'd make sure to ask for a room that faced E24th street (rather than the back of the building or 2nd Avenue). Mehr
"The Marcel at gramercy - fantastic"
We stayed here for 11 nights. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the room was clean, with new and bright furnishings and funky touches to it. Air conditioning was great - a must in summer! We decided on a 'deluxe room' which allowed room for a king bed, wardrobe, desk and chair. It has a 10th floor balcony where u can BYO drinks or eat breakfast […] on which had a great view of the surrounding suburbs. Closest subway was about a 5-10 minute walk which was a bit of a pain in the rain. Not much happening in the area as far as cool bars/restaurants/cafes but it was only an $8 cab fare to meatpacking for great nightlife. An excellent hotel for it's price - not super fancy but great clean rooms and great service would stay there again. Mehr
"Hotel Marcel - NYC"
This is a perfectly satisfactory hotel. That said, our experience was not entirely perfect or satisfactory. The bathroom is not well lighted - I had to put on makeup standing by the window sill and while that had a certain Tree Grows in Brooklyn feel, it required being fully clothed. TV remote didn't work and there was no luggage rack, problems that […] might have been solved by calling the front desk. The pricey continental breakfast was of the same quality as the free one at Motel 6. The area is not one of NYC's more exciting, although it's near the Empire State Building. Limited shopping - I hit a thrift shop and an American Apparel - and limited restaurants - although we had a delicious meal at Tredice a few blocks away. We probably won't go back, but it's not a bad value. There's an Italian restaurant next door, a bar in the basement. At check-in the man in front of us - much younger than we are - announced himself as a satisfied return customer. Mehr

"Good Location"
It is a good deal for NewYork : good location, nice bedrooms, and the terrace. However, the room was too small to add an extra-bed for our child and the room was a little bit noisy. good deal anyway
"traveler beware"
When you book this hotel online they promise you a standard room, little do you know that a standard room for 2 is a tiny room with a slightly larger than twin bed (no way are two people going to comfortable in this size bed) with a tiny very ugly bathroom. It looks nothing like the oictures. Their explaination when you complain? That these are the […] rooms they sell to the wedsites, this is the standard for 2 and any other room is an upgrade. We complained and they gave us another room that was technically an upgrade, as if they were doing us a favor when what they gave us was a normal room with a queen size bed, no mini fridge, lots of noise (the walls are very thin and I´m not a fussy person). This hotel may seem like a bargain but you´ll be paying for the noise, the tiny room, the stress of having to ask for a room change for the entire trip. The hotel also looks like someone found an old hotel, went to IKEA and covered all the old things with IKEA style lamps and furniture and added an extra star to the rating. Not happy, spend a tiny but more and go somewhere decent. I´ve been to several for a similar price and they´re much better, that´s why I felt I should take the time to write a comment. Mehr

Very pleased with our stay at the Marcell at Gramercy, exceptionally friendly staff at every encounter, nice 10th floor lounge with a great roof top deck where you can enjoy views of the Empire State bldg etc plus convenient parking across the street.

"Great hotel"
Great little hotel, quiet and clean. Only gripe is that we wanted to have a bottle of wine in our room but the front desk didn't have a bottle opener. They said that they would have someone bring it to our room within 5 minutes, this never happened. After waiting for a while my husband finally went out and bought one from a store. No one ever came to […] our room with the bottle opener, I think they just told us they have one to get rid of us but it would have been easier to just say they didn't have one. Mehr
"reasonable but very small rooms"
The hotel is a good and reasonable location between downtown and uptown, 5 min to flatiron district. The rooms are very small but clean and modern. We had the problem of not working A/C for 2 nights until it was fixed. The great thing is the roof-top garden on 10th floor with great view on empire state building where you can bring your own drinks […] or food and relax!! Mehr

"Marcel at Gramercy - small but comfortable"
There must have been a two-foot radius around the edge of my bed, and my view of a classic NYC alleyway was unique... but the room and hotel were clean and the bed was comfortable. No shower door or curtain to speak off, so I made a "water mess" with every shower, but I guess that ends up being the cleaning staff's problem. Misunderstood that the "give […] me a bit more beauty rest" magnet meant "do not disturb my room" and the cleaning staff changed my sheets and towels--EVEN THOUGH I did not place the "please replace my linens" card on the bed (as it instructed me to do if I wanted a change of sheets) and I did not leave any towels on the floor (but on the racks as another card asked me to do if I did not want THOSE changed). Was a bit irritated that, though I followed the directions on the cards in my room, the staff replaced all my linens because I didn't have the "more beauty rest, please" magnet on my door. Mentioned my issue to receptionist and she said that the magnet is supposed to be used as the "do not disturb" signal. (Well, then what the heck are the cards for?? And what if I want my trash emptied but not my linens changed--what then?) Mehr

Very good location, central, near trains, beautiful Gramercy Park and Met Life building, delis, restaurants. Really nice and large roof garden with air-conditioned indoor lounge. liked the complimentary newspapers and half-hour internet access in lounge. Elevators a bit slow at times. our room was small, but fine.
"Perfect location and service to discover NYC"
We stayed there for three nights in July 2011 as a stopover on the way from Florida back to Europe. Chosen this hotel due to price & positive reviews. The location is perfect to discover down & uptown. Basically, it's only three stops on the metro in both directions. Hotel is very near the Flatiron building and has some nice residential areas and parks […] near by. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though we had to change rooms for one night due to a booking error by hotels.com, the hotel dealt with it in the most convenient way for us. Very positive... we travelled with to children which could stay f.o.c. in our room (Rooms are small - but then, you are staying in NYC!) and the breakfast served (continental) was very reasonably priced at 12.50 USD while it is free for children up to 12 years (as long as the parents eat) If you're not looking for 5star, I can only recommend this hotel for its friendly service, nice decor and value for money. "The Marcel at Gramercy- what a gem!"
This hotel impressed me. It was clean, comfortable, nice and cool for the hot summer days and the service was great.Yes the rooms are small, but it doesn't matter because we were out in the city all day and only stayed in the room to shower and sleep! Rooms in NYC are all small so it wasn't a surprise. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends […] who are planning to stay in a nice, cute hotel while they are staying in NYC. Mehr

The rooms are clean, great location and the staff friendly. It looked like they had new mattresses (I always check for bed bugs when staying anywhere and there were none) and the room was very clean. The first time I stayed there was street noise from Halloween festivities, second time I stayed they offered me an inside room and it was much quieter. "Very nice hotel!"
Stayed here for 3 nights last week...the location is pretty good-about a 10 minute walk to and from the subway. The neighborhood is great; there are a lot of good restaurants nearby. The room was small, but nice, with a plush bed, 2 small closets, and a good sized bathroom. The hotel offers 2 computers with 30 minutes of free internet, and also complimentary […] lemonade, water and coffee in their lounge. Internet in the room was not free, which was a letdown. "Marcel"
Stayed 2 nights. The first morning I awoke with bites on my right arm. Not sure firm what. I hope it was not the dreaded bed bugs ( room 409). The room was tiny. The management did step up and move me to a larger room. I have stayed here in the past And never had a problem. Then10th floor lounge is nice andnhas a great view.

Each encounter with every staff member was perfect. One of the highest degrees of customer satisfaction skills within an organization I've ever experienced. Someone is hiring right and doing a exceptional job training the staff. When I visit NY again, will definitely stay there again. Bravo!
"Great centralized hotel!"
Very clean and trendy. I got the king deluxe room and it was quite spacious compared to other ny hotels. If you can get a room at a reasonable price then go for it!!! 5 min cab ride to everywhere! Quite luxurious for the price. I will be staying there again in the future!

The Marcel at Gramercy was conveniently located to Union square and shopping on 5th Ave. The area was nice for a leisurely walk. The room was clean but a bit small.
Negative: The room was the smallest hotel room I have ever seen and the primative air conditioner did not work and was very noisy. Fortunately the window opened. Positive: Very friendly staff, a great outdoor patio with a view of the Empiree State Building. Nice neighborhood.

In an otherwise crazy busy city - the Marcel seemed a little more peaceful and quiet. I liked the location as a change of pace - close to Gramercy Park. Cool outside balcony space with views on the 10th floor. Good restuarant and bar scene - overall liked it a lot.
Fabulous hotel with great location and terrific hospitality, but the deluxe king room was tiny.

We love this area and we really enjoyed our stay here. Arrived with 3 young kids and staff were friendly and welcoming. Took our luggage and mailed us when the room was ready for check in. Laid back relaxed atmosphere in a brillant location.

My wife and I stayed at the Marcel for 3 nights in April 2011. I was attending a convention nearby and she was mixing business with pleasure. The location was a quick subway ride on the 6 train from Grand Central Station. I recommend taking advantage of the view and free coffee/tea on the tenth floor lounge. We stayed in a small room the first night […] and couldn't figure out how to turn down the heat. We let the desk clerk know. He told us there are controls under a grate on the heater and we were soon upgraded to a king size room which was much more comfortable. Mehr

"Great, affordable hotel."
Room was a little small, but really well done. Clean, convenient, comfortable and cheap as far as NYC goes. The guest lounge was great too! Very comfortable, and very nice patio. Highly recommend.
"Marcel at Gramecy: Great on all fronts"
We ended up staying here last minute, being caught up in the Great Southwest Holes-in-Airplanes debacle of 2k11. The place is nice - really nice. Our room, which was a standard double, was comfortable and tastefully decorated. Easy walks to Flatiron, Chelsea, the Lower East Side, Greenwich Village, etc. etc. - and, most importantly, Ess-A-Bagel right […] around the corner. What really set the place apart from everywhere else we went in New York was the service. It was weirdly great in comparison to the standard disaffected Manhattan style. Mehr
