Special thanks to the staff that was working during the visit to the hotel. We were a group of sales representatives and were all handled very efficiently, properly, and friendly at the front desk. Both in checking in and through out our visit.

If you like luxury hotels, do NOT stay at the Shilo Inn. But that's not the set against which this hotel is trying to be compared. It's a budget hotel, and it's very good for that category. We twice called the front desk during our visit (once for towels, once for a faulty hair dryer). We had towels and a hair dryer in roughly three to four minutes. […] Amazing customer service. The hotel itself isn't beautiful, but it's functional. And it's two or so minutes driving from the center of Newberg and made 10 minutes from Dundee and all the wineries in between. Great experience. Sort of run down, got the handicap room, not what was understood. Breakfast area very limited as well as items. Poor internet

we were in three different rooms in 4 days. the first room the beds were broken and the shower head did not work. The second room we shared with ants and the third room's heater never heated up the room.

Sleepy little hotel is perfect for your stay in Newberg. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions for what to do around the area. not for you if you want uber luxury, but everything was quite nicely put together for our stay.we'll definitely stay here again.

said it was recently remodeled. Spa equipment not working, damaged carpet in room, kid sleeping in lobby sofa

This hotel provides the most basic of accomadations no frills! Keep your expectations low for the continental breakfast.

Third stay in two years. Friendly staff, convenient location, comfortable bed. Breakfast is very basic. Decor is a bit old. Rooms are big. Will stay there again.

The room was beautiful and clean, The only drawback to the room (for me) was the bed was a little to hard for my preference. The staffd were great and friendly I enjoyed my stay there and would go back.

Clean, large room, comfortable bed, good location. Staff was very nice. For the price it was very good. They are very pet friendly too

It's not fancy, but neither are we. It's clean and convenient. When we visit our son at George Fox University, we always stay at the Shilo. When my wife came down with the flu on our most recent visit, the manager graciously refunded part of our pre-paid reservation when we checked out a day early.

Clean and comfortable!

The room was very nicely decorated, adequately furnished and very clean. The fridge was very quiet and the microwave, coffee maker, and hair dryer all seemed to work well. We didn't use the iron, but it was nice to know one was available if needed. Our biggest complaint was the room temperature. It was so warm it was difficult to sleep. Even with the […] a/c fan the room would just not cool off. Leaving the window open all night would have helped but then there would have been too much road noise. The beds were also too soft & bouncey for my liking. Every time my husband moved, I woke up. It was like sleeping on a giant marshmallow. The breakfast was pretty good, but while we were there a few people experience spoiled milk. The front desk people were very nice and quite helpful. Overall though, a pretty good deal for the money. We had plenty of room for 2 teenage boys. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Scary location and the hotel description said it had been recently renovated. I'm wondering if "recent" means sometime in the past 50 years. Room had that old hotel with stale smoke smell to it.

We were very impressed with the hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They gave great recommendations for local places to eat and even opened up the breakfast bar early so that we could eat something before leaving. I would definately stay at this hotel again. I have paid a lot more for rooms and gotten a lot less. Beds are very comfortable […] and it is nice having a refrigerator and microwave in the room. I would rate this hotel a 5. Mehr

This hotel is a convenient place to stay when coming to a George Fox University event. The rooms have refrigerators, microwaves and a mini wet bar which is nice when staying for more than one night. The continental breakfast is adequate with yogurt, hard boiled eggs, a selection of juices, cereal, instant oatmeal, white flour bagels, and the assorted […] prepackaged pastries/muffins. It would be nice to have wider selection of whole grain items and more healthy cereals. The neighborhood is okay. Parked our car (that was loaded with our student's belonging) overnight under a light and everything was safe the next morning. The folks at the desk are pleasant and very helpful; however, since they usually are busy and full when there is a GFU event, they seem to be a bit hectic and they can run out of small things like razors and some of the breakfast items. They did not supply the room with more shampoo or lotion the second night. The hotel is looking a bit worn and the rooms are dark, but everything was clean. Did not use the fitness room - too busy this time - but took a peek to see a few aerobic machines in a small room that would not have floor space for yoga or Pilates. Had stayed at the Shilo Inn previously so decided to try a different hotel last time we were in Newberg and didn't find it to meet our expectations. Will stay at the Shilo Inn whenever we visit Newberg. Mehr

The second time we stayed. This time for dropping a daughter off at George Fox University to start as a freshmen. Perfect location - practically next door. Very busy at this time but the staff were cheerfully handling the craziness. Just off 99W which has Fred Meyer and other stores within a few minutes drive. Hotel was advertised as newly remodeled. However, whirlpool/jacuzzi did not work correctly and the room had items that needed maintenance (broken tiles in shower, sink stopper did not hold water, door stop was broken). Also were told the ice machine was broken (twice), but suspect they just turned it off at night. They ran out of clean wash clothes […] the second day we were there - said the laundry was behind schedule. Overall, it was clean and the staff was very pleasant. Mehr

Hotel is very clean and staff is courteous and helpful. morning continental breakfast was good. the pool area and sauna/steam room was very clean. The workout areas were clean and all machines were operable and clean. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to business travelers and families.

This property was great for our purposes.. A hot air balloon ride at the very nearby airport. There was no one at the desk when I went to check in, but she was nearby, when I found her. The room was not two queens like I requested, but pullout was okay. Most annoying was that they only had one room key (metal) for our room!! Looked and looked but could […] not find a second key. Clean, friendly staff, comfortable beds, large rooms, very good location for visiting or stopping in Newberg. Bathroom is a little small, and the breakfast is fairly basic - not hot food. TV is an old style type not LCD. Free wifi and a computer with free internet in the lobby in case you want to do a quick email check. All the staff were friendly and […] helpful. Can call the front desk directly for a wake-up call which is nice if you are the type of person who frets whether they set the wake-up alarm correctly. The TV has a reasonable selection of cable TV channels. Room had a microwave and a refrigerator and little kitchenette counter. Immediately proximate up and down the highway is Fred Meyer, restaurants, other stores. Excellent for a family travel stopover or as a base to explore the area. If you are visiting George Fox University it is about one minute away by car and the perfect base camp. Mehr

This place is nice and clean. It's just what we needed at a good price. I would stay there again. Staff was great.

The first room they gave us had definitely been used by smokers. They quickly gave us a different room that was much better. Things are a bid worn (bare spon in carpet ) but were overall clean. Hadn't had a regular key to a hotel room in years, but got one here, and it didn't work well - hard to get in, turn, and get out. I read good reviews, and knew I was going to a two and a half star hotel. My hopes weren't too high, but I ended up still being disappointed. The hallways smelled like really bad body odor and the room smelled bad. Outside of my hotel I heard loud arguing and yelling all night. The tv didn't work properly either, so that was sad. The positives: the […] people who worked there were really nice! They were very helpful and friendly. So that was really great. Also, the bed was very comfortable. I stay there every time I visit the area. Price is good and the rooms are very nice.

This hotel was good. We got in late and left very early, but it was good for what we were doing. The hotel was nice fictures a little dated but furniture was nice. Good amount of pillows and bed was comfortable. The one thing you have to do if you stay here is eat at Abby's Legendary Pizza right next door, it was the best pizza ever! This hotel is conveniently close to George Fox University (GFU). It is adequate with positives and some negatives. The positives are that the rooms are spacious for 2 queen beds with 4 adults and luggage, compared to other hotels we've stayed at recently. The room was nicely decorated and clean. There is a microwave, fridge, and bar sink in the room […] (along with the regular sink). Soaps and shampoos were nice smelling. The staff was friendly but stressed since it was move in day for new students at GFU so the hotel was all booked up. Seems that they could have planned better to handle the load. Breakfast was adequate but not special - weak coffee and no waffle machine but there was yogurt, dry cereal, hard boiled eggs, breakfast burritos to microwave, sweet rolls, english muffins, etc. (If you want good coffee, visit the unique Coffee Cottage down the main street at Meridian.) There are some restaurants (pizza, Mexican) within walking distance. The fitness room was disappointing. There is a stair step machine, treadmill, and limited universal type weight machine but they are all in need of a tune up. All of the machines are out of balance and the weight machine is rusty and hard to adjust - due to the fact that the hot tub spa is in the same area. Not all the jets in the spa were working. The pool was nice and there is a separate dry and wet sauna that we did not use because it was in the 90's when we were there. An big offset to the disappointing fitness room is that there is a free TV option for fitness programs - yoga, pilates, floor exercises - and our room was large enough that there was floor space to do the exercises. This hotel is adequate but would be better if they shined it up a bit. Mehr

I have stayed at 5 Shilo Inns in different cities. This one was about mid-grade. The website and a sign posted stated that the Inn has been recently renovated. I believe this to be true, as my room was missing a table and chairs, apparently not replaced after the re-do. The room was clean and serviceable, however. I did use the pool and hot tub, both […] of which were fine, although it did not appear that any staff had inspected the facility that day (used towels around, a flotation device laying about). Hotel was fine - standard. Except the fitness room which was co-located with the hot tub, sanua and steam room. Even with the AC on high and the door proped open, it was at least 90 in the room. Not great for treadmill work. We walked a couple of block to Burgerville, but it didn't seem like there was much else around.
