Town House Motel - San Francisco

Das Motel eignet sich gut um von dort aus die Stadt zu erkunden. Es liegt allerdings an einer sehr viel befahrenen Straße und es ist dementsprechend laut im Zimmer. Ich konnte trotzdem gut schlafen. Insgesamt ausreichend, wenn einem die Stadt und nicht das Hotel interessiert.

We were attending an event at Fort Mason so the location was perfect and the free parking was fantastic albeit a small parking space. Because we were attending an event we didn't get to check in until after 10:30 p.m. The hotel was full with the no vacancy light on. I had to ring the night bell twice to get anyone to come to the door because I had a […] reservation. I was greeted by a grouchy man who demanded my license and credit card....no greeting or nothing. I felt like a kid in trouble. After a couple of grunts we got our hotel room key. Room was fine. Clean but by no means comfortable. It was very hot (turns out furnace was on and broken) but thankfully there was a window we could open. Pillows and mattress were rock hard. Neighborhood was great...mostly residential so very quiet at night. Didn't leave for very much to do though and no where to grab coffee or food in the morning. Also nothing close by for night life. Morning was better, the lady at the front desk was very pleasant and let us keep our car in the parking lot all day while we finished our event. Continental breakfast was nothing special, but better than nothing. I think this motel was great for one night but I definitely would not recommend for a family or anyone staying for a vacation or length of time. Mehr

Not too tidy room and the noise from the passing traffic is annoying. But friendly staff, good location and the low price make this a worthwhile investment.

This is basic roadside motel in outstanding condition in an ideal location with parking ouside your room and very friendly helpful staff. If you are looking for somewhere to spend minimal time in your room whilst exploring San Francisco look no further, it is a easy 7-8 minute walk in one direction to Union Street and 10-15 minutes in the other direction […] to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. The Motel was very clean and the management staff very friendly. Close to tourist attractions, like Walt Disney Museum, Golden Gate bridge and Park.,Reasonably priced. ,

This is a great no-frills motel which was just what we were looking for. It was convenient to all the major attractions and exceptionally clean. The owners were very friendly, helpful and offered great advice on getting around town and places to eat. If you want to walk six or seven blocks there are some great places to eat. Good location near Ft. Mason. Breakfast was just fruit and pre-wrapped sweet roles.

The hotel exterior and interior decor was satisfactory but bedding and bath towels were worn and thin. Blanket and cover were not warm enough for winter weather. Continental breakfast was minimal. The double room is a little small but for 2 kids and 2 adults it will do. There is only basic tv channels so for children it can be a bit boring. The motel is kept by an older couple who where very friendly. It is right on Lombard Street which is great for getting to all the places to visit. There is no place to eat within walking distance but there […] is fast food and restuarants a short drive away. On the down side the traffic can be a bit much in the later afteroon and evening time since Lombard is a major street. It's about a 30 min walk to Fishermans Wharf so you might want to drive. Overall, the motel is not a big fancy motel and it is a litlte out dated but I would definately stay there again if I ever go back to San Francisco. Mehr

The proprieter was a nice lady. She was baking cookies when we arrived. Room & bathroom are small, but clean. Located short distance from Fisherman's wharf. Affotdable.

Hotel was a 10 minute walk to Fort Mason at Fishermans Wharf. Lombard is a busy street, but handy for sightseeing, etc. .....clean rooms, helpful staff, complimentary breakfast was just coffee, packaged pastries and fruit, but it was just fine. Would stay there again.

This hotel is very clean, comfortable and affordable. Very close to Fishermans Wharf, and other main attractions. I would highly recommend it to others and would stay there any time I'm in SF again. An added plus...the free parking lot right at your door.

Town House Motel is really nice! The room is clean and the people are nice. I went to front desk often to consult about my trip in SF. They also provide small breakfast. The location is also nice...walkable distance to Fisherman's Wharf and there are buses take you to downtown SF and the Golden Gate Bridge. If you don't mind staying in the Marina, and are not fussy AT ALL, then this place is fine. Request a room upstairs. The walls and floors are thin; downstairs, I could hear the upstairs neighbor's every move. The room-front parking is a plus.

Manager was friendly and helpful. Rooms were just right for the price. overall, nice place to stay.

Room was small. Beds were small. Lumpy. Could not rest properly. Staff was extremely friendly. Parking righ in front of the room. Not worth the price paid. Would not stay there again

We thought the hotel was pretty ideal to were we wanted to be in San Francisco but that was about all we liked about the hotel. The room was old and dated. We pulled back the bedding and there was hair all over the sheets. We are thinking that they hadn't been changed in awhile. The decor-pillows on top of the bedding were so worn and torn that I would […] have thrown them out years ago. No breakfast! The staff was friendly and we did have parking. But, it was a nightmare to get in and out of the parking lot. Overall not my idea of a good place to stay in San Francisco. Mehr

Located a few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf; good restaurants within walking distance on Union and Chestnut. Hotel is older and rooms are small but clean.

Found the hotel to be very clean. Looks quite basic on the outside, but clean and modern on the inside. A little higher than "basic" for the rooms. They made an effort to decorate it with a little bit better quality of furnishings (i.e., shutters rather than shades on window, better wall papepr, etc). Not really within walking distance to Fishermans […] Wharf or other sites but very good price, helpful staff, quiet and clean. It was a "basic" hotel and a notch above. Met all of our needs. Mehr

Small hotel but very friendly staff, clean (small) rooms, convenient location ( walkable to Fisherman's wharf), very good bargain for the price. "Continental" breakfast was rather limited but did not really take away from the overall favorable experience. Excellent for those with a limited budget and fond of walking. We would stay there again.

The Town House Motel is as simple and basic as they come...very few amenities for the price. I found the neighborhood to be very nice and I could easily and pleasantly walk to Ghiradelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf. I found the lady at the desk to be very pleasant and helpful and the room to be clean, but like a cheap shore motel. People are friendly and considering there is free parking and WiFi it is good value. the location was convenient for us. Furnishings are tired and could do with new bed spreads, linens, etc. Clean.

Nice clean small comfortable room. Very happy with the price we paid we got great location, clean hotel. We were only there to sleep and shower both of which was adequately taken care of. We had a great stay in this hotel. It was everything we needed. A short 15 minute walk to the Warf (near Ghirardelli Square). The Open Top Hop On/Hop Off bus has a stop right in front of this hotel. Great location. The hotel staff was very friendly and even let me leave my car parked in the lot after we checked out for a few hours so we could tour more […] of the city before leaving. Overall, this was a good stay. I got a good price for the location. It is nothing fancy about it, but it served its purpose: somewhere to sleep. The parking situation is bittersweet. After much research, this is one of few hotels that do not charge for parking. There seems to be a limited amount of parking spaces, not sure if there is enough for all […] the rooms. We got in about 2am. The clerk was a bit grumpy, probably because of the time. The only other unfortunate thing was the shower. The water pressure was pretty low. For a short stay, not a problem. The room was clean but pretty small and out dated. We were told it was only a few blocks to the wharf but we walked a lot farther than a few blocks.

I booked this hotel just a couple of days before it was needed. When I called to see if I could check-in before the customary 3pm time, the clerk said that was OK as the room was ready. We then checked in, got settled, then left to do some sightseeing. We walked to Fisherman's Whart and then on to North Beach, where my daughter lives. A nice and easy […] walk. We didn't arrive back at the hotel until 9pm or so that evening. Given that the hotel in on Lomabard Street, I knew it could be noisy due to street traffic. My husband had no trouble sleeping and I used my earplugs. We were up and checked out by 8am to meet up again with the daughter for a North Beach cafe breakfast. I would stay here again. It is a great location. An easy walk to the tourist places and transportation (bus on Union Street) and cabs are handy. Mehr

We will not go back to that hotel again. There were bed bugs everywhere on the bed!!!!

I was in town by myself for a competition recently and needed somewhere to stay over the weekend, so picked the Town House Motel as it was one of the cheaper options. On the whole I was very satisfied, and would definitely stay again. The room was very clean, well maintained and quite big. The front desk staff were polite, and gave me a few helpful recommendations on local places to eat and drink when I asked. Breakfast was ok, but kind of on the small side. Pre-packed pastries, fruit and juice/coffee (so no cereal). Still, it was enough to keep me going until lunch. Noise levels were fine. A couple of loud passers-by in the early hours, but nothing unreasonable for a city. Also, I left my phone charger in the room, and when I rang up they said they had found it and would post it to my home address at no charge, which is great! this hotel was extra clean..top to bottom, from the outside walking in, to the rooms being spot less! looking to safe some money and be in the middle of the city, this place is the place!! ....had a great time talking with staff and owners.

I stayed at Town House Motel a few years ago and on this visit decided to stay there again. The owners have invested in undated windows and bathrooms (don't know why they didn't change all the windows?). On the plus side, convienient location, clean rooms, free parking, breakfast and wireless included. . On the negs- the beds, pillows and linens have […] seen their day. We stayed at TownHouse for 5 nights while we visited San Francisco. While the location is great, it is the only big plus. The service was nice but not very efficient: we asked where is the closest supermarket and he pointed at the map they provide and said it takes 30 min walking. We decided to try it ourselves - it was just 7 min walking. The room […] is OK I guess, the bathroom is super tiny and the bed really hurt my neck! Breakfast was a big joke: preserved cakes, coffee, milk, orange juice, fruits. That's it! Basically it's not a breakfast, it's a snack. Overall, I would look for a different hotel. The room itself was clean and the beds were comfortable. The room had no bath, just a small shower (would have preferred a bathtub). The room was fairly clean but older. This is the 3rd year in a row I've visited San Francisco, every time staying in the Marina area. This was the best 'cheap' hotel of the bunch. Many people complain about street noise. Well this is San Francisco and there is NO escape from street noise. The room was reasonably quiet and I did not hear any fire or police sirens which has not been the […] case when I stayed in upscale hotels downtown. The place was spotless and really well maintained. It was in a convenient and safe location. We felt very comfortable there.

We stayed here for three nights prior to departing for home (London, UK). We were at the end of a two week trip, having visited Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Grand Canyon, Big Sur and San Francisco. The Motel was clean, comfortable and reasonably well located (30 minutes to walk to Fisherman's Wharf). Don't be decieved by SF, it's very hilly and although […] walking is possible, the hills are a killer in some places. We were disappointed that the room had no safe, nor were there facilities at the hotel reception meaning we had to walk around with our passports and UK documents about our person. This was the first place we'd stayed at where this was an issue. Likewise, there was no facilities to do our own washing, again a first. To be fair, there were laundrettes in the area, but we were warned not to leave our washing unattended. Fortunately we were on the last leg, so decided against washing so close to going home. Breakfast was served in reception and you took it back to your room. Plenty of good coffee, pastries and fruit. Plenty and adequate. Wireless Internet access was free and good reception. Everywhere we stayed in the two weeks had WiFi. Having stayed at other independants as well as Best Western and Holiday Inn hotels, this motel was a disappointment to us. With free parking and a pretty convenient location it is a great place to stay in San Francisco if you are not looking for a ton of amenities. Just regular TV, no cable but free WiFi. Only about 5 blocks from the Wharf and only 3 blocks from the bus system it is easy to get around the City using public transportation if you don't want to drive. This motel is a good buy for the budget minded traveler. Free parking and free Wi-Fi can't be beat. However, you get what you pay for. The room is comfortable, but the bed desperately needed repair. But still, given the free parking and free Wi-Fi, the price was right.
