hotel well located room clean but what a route march to get there! we were down in the cellar and had to work our way through a maze of corridors bit spooky but room was fine, excellent location for the city centre only there one night but no problems good value for money

Staffs are very nice and friendly. A decent room with reasonable price. Only one thing is water in shower drained too slow.

Hotel in excellent location, and just a short walk from Princess Street. Walking other way is Meadow-bank and up the hill takes you to Carlton Observatory. Hotel is a little warn down, but for the price and location, is great for a stop over.

This hotel is in a perfect location, and if you don't mind the place, which is dated, and in need of a refit, it is in a perfect central location. The hotel room was clean and serviced with fresh towels each day. Hotel lobby and bar was empty most of the time, and room was very quite for being so central (EH1). Would stay again, as perfect for the price […] and location. Breakfast can be booked at reception for £5 per-day if you want, I didn't as so central to so many other good places to eat. Mehr

I spent 3 nights at The Cairn in a single room. The room was small, but really nice with high ceilings and a giant window facing the street. The bathroom was huge and looked very modern and new. Great location. Close to everything, but on a quiet street.

Really well located, within a stone's throw of Waverley and the Leith Road cafes, bars and restaurants. Cheaper than many Edinburgh hotels, especially if you want to stay in the city rather than out in the suburbs. That said, the hotel is nothing special. Facilities are very basic, rooms are small and draughty, and service is minimally polite but nothing […] more. It is just across the road from Calton Hill with its great views on the Old Edinbourgh. About 20-25 minutes on foot from the middle of the Royal Mile and 10 minutes from the Holyroodhouse Palace. There is a bus nearby (number 35) that goes directly to the airport. Many restorants in the vicinity. The hotel room was clean and rather spacious, we had […] a coffee-maker and a choice of complementary teas, coffees and hot chocolate that was very appreciated in the morning and late in the evening. The hotel room was nice enough, as were the staff. It was located a decent walking distance to Old Edinburgh as well as two shopping plazas. Just keep in mind everything seems to shut down around 18:30 so you're almost confined to your room. Luckily the Cairn provided clean, good sized rooms with cable so we could entertain ourselves with a booze run […] and some snacks. Great hotel for the price! I just wasn't fon of the city's pseudo curfew. Mehr

The Cairn was the most reasonably priced city centre hotel at the outrageously expensive festival season. Staff were very pleasant but the hotel itself is rather shabby. Looks great from the outside but disappointing inside. It has seen far better days. However location is great and I would check out prices again outwith festival time.

The location of the Cairn was an easy walk to most of the must see sights. There was not parking at the Hotel but since we were there on a weekend we were able to park on the street free. During the week you would have to pay for parking. The staff was helpful and the hotel very clean.

Good location but not too cosy hotel.

Got a cramped room in the Annex but it was ok for just staying one night when traveling through. Pretty much hostel-standard in all aspects but the price was also in that range so can't really complain. A short walk from the city centre.

good location,hotel is a bit run down but the room was huge and very well cleaned.towels changed every day and so coffee/tea/biscuits refills - overall good experience, excellent location,10mins from waverley station - excellent staff

Very good rates, centrally located, comfy room and beds, nice to have both bath and shower Main complaint was that the window was not operational as we always like to open hotel room windows for fresh air ie it was very very heavy to open and there was no catch to keep it open once we'd managed to raise it about 8 inches. The room was pretty small, […] but at that price you shouldn't expect luxury-you get what you pay for. Staff were friendly which is very important. Mehr

comfortable stay, excellent value for money.

Friendly staff. The Hotel is clean.Although the Towels need to be looked at. The Mattresses could be of a bit better quality. But in all a nice enough Hotel.

the hotel is in the center of edinburgh and only a few minutes away from princess street which is the heart of edinburgh. The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for me. The hotel was a reasonable price and easy to get to from the airport where i made my reservation. The only downside from my experience at this hotel is that if you make […] a reservation late at night, your payment for the room doesn.t appear at the hotel until the next day so makeing a receipt at the airport is essencial. Location of Cairn Hotel is excellent- within walking distance of city and person I was visiting. Service at desk was efficient and helpful. Room was warm and comfortable but in serious need of a good clean especially the curtains and carpet. Wallpaper was stripped off in one location. Tea/coffee provided in room but cups were badly washed and placed […] on a dirty paper 'cloth'. Bathroom was bright and newly decorated but again cleaning needed to be improved as there were splashes of something 'unmentionable' on the tile grouting. Clean, clean and clean again please, and I'll be delighted to return to the Cairn Hotel. Mehr

I was more than surprised to find this super-budget hotel so clean and efficient - with a helpful staff. The abundance of hot water was an extra bonus that I didn't find in other UK facilities. A ten minute walk to center city made it convenient.

Hotel correctement tenu et propre. Petit déjeuner sans intérêt , je n'ai cherché ni utilisé les autres services de l'hôtel. l'hôtel est dans un quartier calme à 2 pas de la ville et nouvelle ville

Meget bra. Vennlig betjening.

I helhet var rummet ok, påfyllning av te och kaffe och bäddat men smutsigt på golven, mycket lyhörda rum. Frukosten kan man hoppa över. Personalen var trevlig och hjälpsam.

Rommet så ut til å ha vært nylig pusset opp. Rene tepper og flott bad. Litt lytt mellom veggene, men ikke noe jeg vil klage på. Det var hyggelig og behjelpelige ansatte ved hotellet. Vi kom litt tidlig for å sjekke inn, men da kunne vi låse inn bagasjen på et eget rom på hotellet og så komme tilbake senere. Hotellet lå ca. 5-7 min gangavstand fra St.James […] shoppingsenter og ca. 10 gangavstand fra Princes St. som er hovedgaten når det gjelder shopping. Mange ålreite steder og spise i nærheten og det var veldig lett å finne fram til hotellet. Vil absolutt anbefale dette hotellet til andre reisende og kan tenke meg å bruke dette hotellet ved en senere anledning. Mehr

Bra hotel,fina sängar,men många dörrar att passera innan man kom till rummet. Bra läge 15 min.gångväg till centrum. Vet inget om frukost då vi lämnade hotellet 4.30 på morgonen för att hinna med flyget hem. Bra pris o ett trevligt bemötande i receptionen

Bra standard för priset och max. 10 minuter gående från centrum och sevärdigheter. Trevliga personal.

Hotellet var fint til prisen, men vi var så uheldige at blive holdt vågne den halve nat af naboerne, som skændtes. Der var meget lydt.

Très bonne situation, calme, à proximité du centre et des principaux sites à visiter. Personnel très sympa. Je ne peux que recommander.

Hotelli sopii aikuisille. Ei liikuntarajoitteisille. Hotelli on pieni ja idyllinen, henkilökunta on ystävällistä.

Un hôtel bien situé, quartier calme, proche du centre ville, qui a besoin d'un rajeunissement des chambres , des mobiliers et des fenêtres. Equipe de l'hôtel très aimable, facilitant les demandes sans problèmes et rapidement.
