Days Inn - Harbor View - San Diego

Wir haben am 16.02.2012 eine Nacht im Days Inn Harbor View übernachtet, um am nächsten Tag ein Kreuzfahrtschiff im Cruise Terminal von San Diego zu besteigen. Das Hotel ist dafür perfekt geeignet. Es gibt einen kostenlosen Shuttleservice vom Flughafen (die blauen Shuttlebusse, Hotelname steht nicht dran, der Fahrer erhält vom Hotel einen Voucher) und […] auch zum Cruise Terminal. Die Fahrt ist nur ein paar Minuten, das Hotel liegt sehr zentral. Wir sind am abend noch zu Fuß ein wenig herumgelaufen. Das "Little Italy" mit Restaurants und Geschäften liegt gleich um die Ecke (zwei Blocks, ca. 10 Minuten) und ist sehenswert. Wir haben uns sehr sicher gefühlt, auch abends und in der Nacht. Das Hotel ist draußen ziemlich abgenutzt (Farbe blättert ab), aber sehr sauber. Die Zimmer sind riesig. Das Bad war auch sehr sauber, es gab Seife, Duschgel, ausreichend Handtücher. Betten waren bequem. Ich habe an der Rezeption nach einer zusätzlichen Decke gefragt und problemlos bekommen. Der Service an der Rezeption war gut und freundlich. Unsere Vorausbuchung und -bezahlung über hotels.com von Deutschland aus wurde gerne und problemlos akzeptiert. Man hat wie üblich einen Kreditkarten-Blankozettel erstellt und uns den am nächsten Tag wieder ausgehändigt. Der Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption fragte uns von selber, ob wir den kostenlosen Shuttlebus zum Schiff haben wollten und hat uns zu einer uns genehmen Zeit einen bestellt, der dann auch pünktlich war. In der Nacht war es recht laut von der nahen Bahnlinie - am Bahnübergang wird heftig geklingelt. Uns hat das nicht weiter gestört, aber für lärmempfindliche Personen ist das sicher ein Nachteil. Das Frühstück war amerikanisch-übersichtlich: Kaffee, Orangensaft, Toast, Marmelade, Cerealien. Auf dem Zimmer gab es noch eine Kaffeemaschine komplett mit Kaffee und Tee, die wir jedoch nicht benutzt haben. Internet (W-LAN) war umsonst mit dabei und schnell. Wir haben dieses Hotel gebucht, weil es einen kostenlosen Shuttle zum Kreuzfahrtterminal und Flughafen hat. Es hat alles prima geklappt. Die Lage ist sehr zentral, da eine Trolley-Station (Straßenbahn) nur um die Ecke ist. Tagsüber hört man zwar den Zug an den vielen Bahnübergängen hornen und vom Flughafen ist ebenfalls ein sehr lautes Geräusch beim […] Landen zu hören. Nachts war es aber ruhig. Das Hotel liegt nahe am Flughafen und den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln. Flughafen, Stadtzentrum und das Convention Center sind leicht per Bus oder Trolley erreichbar. Ein Parkplatz pro Zimmer ist kostenlos. Der Spaziergang zum Seaport Village entlang der Hafenmauer ist sehenswert. Die Zimmer sind sauber, allerdings musste ich eine Unterbringung in […] einem Raucherzimmer für zwei Tage hinnehmen trotz meiner Reservierung eines Nichtraucherzimmers, da das Hotel ausgebucht war. Ansonsten sind die Zimmer sauber und komfortabel. Das inbegriffene Frühstücksbuffet war in Ordnung, aber etwas monoton und wurde auf Wegwerfgeschirr serviert. Am störendsten war das regelmäßige Vorbeifahren der Züge hinter dem Hotel, was Tag und Nacht mit lautem Hupen verbunden war. Trotzdem kann ich das Hotel weiterempfehlen, wenn man eine günstige Übernachtungsmöglichkeit in San Diego sucht. Mehr

Hotel is very close to airport with a free shuttle. Good for an overnight layover. Pleased to get an upgrade upon check-in!

We spent 2 weeks in that hotel and had a great time. The location was excellent, we were close to everything and within walking distance of many restaurants. It's true that the train runs right behind the hotel but it's really not a problem, the room was very quiet at night. The staff was very helpful too. The rooms are a bit old but they are well-kept […] and clean. I really recommend that hotel, it's good value for the money. Mehr

The room was clean, the hotel was close to the trolley and Little Italy. Accross the street is City hall. If you cross the parking lot you are on Harbor Dr. It was nice that everything was close. The Airport is down the street. The customer service was GREAT! The front desk was very helpful. The breakfast was ok. The only bad thing about this hotel […] are the paper thin walls and the train horn in the morning. But, if you are looking for a good rate and a nice place in a good neighborhood; this would be the place to stay. (We felt safe) Mehr

We stayed here before a cruise. Staff was great, room clean, free shuttle, decent breakfast.

We chose this hotel because we were flying in and going on a cruise the next day. They have free shuttles to the airport and the cruise harbor. The staff was very helpful and kind. I had lost my boarding pass for the ship and they let me use the office computer and printer to make new ones. We walked to a nice Italian restaurant recommended my one […] of the reception staff. The room was comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was an assortment of cereals, juices, breads to toast, sweet rolls and fresh fruit. We stayed here twice - one night before cruise and one night after we returned. We were back quite early - about 11am and they let us in our room right away. Walking distance to harbor, restaurants, museums, convenience stores. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Mehr

I stayed here on New Years Eve and I'm glad I was only there for one night! The room was made up but there were all sorts of weird stains in the bathroom and the door had this very large bit of paint missing. The furniture was banged up (LOTS of knicks and scratches). It smelled a bit musty.. I think the carpets need to be changed. The walls are paper […] thin. The cliental was a bit low grade too (sorry but it's true). Lots of sketchy looking people around..... The only two good points were the service (the guy at the front desk was very nice and helpful) and that it was within walking distance of where we wanted to go (Hornblower cruise - about a block away). This motel is nothing fancy to look at but was clean and functional. It had decent size room. Motel staff were friendly and accommodating. It was good value for the price.

basic a motel, although it's close to the bay, little italy, and provides free shuttle to airport. Breakfast is very limited: cereal, toast, and wrapped danish.

Hotel was clean and location was reasonably good close to the harbor and it was viewable from the room. There is a lot of noise from the airport and the trains but I found they did not disturb me at night and I was able to sleep. The free breakfast was nothing special but as there was nothing much else locally it was adequate

After driving through a rainstorm, we arrived at the hotel and were checked in. Upon entering the room, it reeked of cigarette smoke, despite having NO SMOKING signs, along with warnings about fining guests who smoked in the room. We had to run the ventilation system for hours to try to bring the room to a decent state. The neighborhood is good - there […] are some nice, if touristy, Italian restaurants two blocks from the hotel, plus all the attractions of the harbor, which lies just across the highway. A train passes - infrequently - behind the hotel, but we weren't located on that side, so we never heard it. Breakfast was adequate - coffee, toast, rolls, yogurt. Room was not luxury, but facility was very clean, bed was super comfortable, and staff was super friendly and helpful. An excellent value.

Nice economical place..was worried about the motel room doors exposed to the outdoors but a nice safe neighborhood. The view of the harbor was great. Also, a free supershuttle from the airport to the hotel..and that service was very good. There are trains which run right by the hotel..didn't bother me...but if you have a hotel in the area..you will […] hear them and the hotel will probably cost more. Hotel exterior well presented, room a little dull & furniture dated but serviceable & comfortable. Nothing to complain about. Airport & train noise expected to be a bit of a nuisance but was negligible inside the room. Able to walk to Midway & transport stops & back even with a dicky knee. Breakfast was ample & better than expected.

The room was really clean the staff was really nice. Great room for the price and free parking, nearly impossible to find in san diego. The only complaint was the, trains there is a set of train tracks right behind the hotel.

Days Inn - Harbor view is close to downtown, Little Italy, waterfront and airport. It is clean and comfortable (no "motel" smell), rooms are big and well equipped. Service is friendly. The only minus is the racket coming from the nearby railway tracks.

Besides the train blowing it's horn right behind the hotel but stopped every night at 8pm it was a comfortable room for a couple.Close to all the attractions.

Stayed there one night. Was within walking distance to everything we needed. The front desk was friendly, professional and helpful. For the area the price was reasonable.

Great spot at a reasonable price and very good accomodations.

I stayed for location near downtown, but very two star. The trains and airplane noise is constant. The room was clean and the staff was great. If you aren't looking for anything but a bed to sleep this is it.

Yes, this is a two star hotel; Yes its on the older side..but really, no complaints. We showed up way before the check in time but they held our luggage (and let use a restroom) so we could wander around..the location is perfect, you're right next to the harbor with all the cruise ships, etc, less than a mile from seaport village, little italy, its […] a quick walk to gaslamp district... Close to transit for the zoo, etc. The free breakfast was not amazing but it did have pastries, breads and cereals. There is a train near by but it didnt run through the night (THANK GOODNESS!) We used the free shuttle to and from the airport which was a great plus! The TV had lots of channels and was a flat screen. The bathroom was small but updated and clean. Ironing board, hair dryer, microwave and fridge - all nice to have around! I would stay here again for any trips to San Diego! Mehr

Close to everything you want to do in San Diego. Easy to get to. I will stay there again, however, if you want a hotel with a nice pool go somewhere else. It is clean but very tiny. Also very small parking lot. I had trouble getting in and out more than once. Good hotel for the money.

The location of this hotel is so convenient to everything a traveller needs. Across the street on the pier, you can book trolley tickets to get around town. Anthony's Seafood House is within walking distance, as is the MArine Museum. The hotel provides a continental breakfast daily and shuttle service to the airport. One elevator was broken for a couple of days but the room was clean and we absolutely LOVED the locale. Everything we could either walk or ride our bikes to. YEAH IF YOU ARE DRIVING BRINGING YOUR BIKE!! DON'T HAVE TO HASSLE WITH PARKING. Recommend this hotel highly.

This place was exactly what I wanted and expected. Don't expect anything fancy, it's a motel. My girlfriend and I typically stay at cheaper places when we travel we're hardly ever in the room and this place was all we needed. Best features: Free Parking, plenty of open spots. Clean Rooms Clean bathrooms Swimming pool Walking distance to the harbor […] and gaslamp district (15 minutes) Mini Fridge and Microwave (This was a huge plus for keeping the beers nice and cold) Partial view of the harbor from our room For the price and the convenience you can't go wrong with the Days Inn. Yes, it is very inexpensive, but depressing. Is that really what you want on vacation? The TV only got 4 stations, when we asked mgr to fix, he gave us some song and dance about disconnect and reconnect, then we had to reprogram the channel changer! Just a dreary room. The stay was pleasant, alas I only came to my room to sleep. I had a little snag for the first 2 days with the Wi-Fi, but when I brought to the Front desk attention, it was corrected that night. The housekeeper kept my room impeccable and comfy. The Front Desk staff was polite and responsive. My only complaint is a pervasive musky smell in the room, […] but then again, the building structure looks like it has some good years on it, so maybe it just smelled old. I have stayed at different Day's Inn hotels around LA, but this one seems to be a misfit for the Days Inn Group. The only thing that it can boast about is: a. Location - closest to the convention center, Downtown, Zoo and I-5. b. complimentary Breakfast The stay was actually bad. The room was smelling bad (of cigarettes and liquor). For the money, it was clean and convenient also had a fridge and microwave which came in handy. Had a decent view of the harbor from my room.

This hotel was great and inexpensive. The hotel was close to Seaport Village and walking distance to Little Italy that has fantastic food. We stayed 3 nights and were very satisfied. The location was just great. Free shuttle service from the airport and to the Cruise terminal. Hotel was a little run down and could use some updating.I would most likely not stay there again in the future.

I had read a lot of hotel reviews on hotels.com before booking, San Diego seems to have a lot of places which receive mixed reviews for various reasons. The Days Inn is close to the Amtrak station, and downtown. We received a free upgrade to a nice, large room that included a sofa. The room was clean and in good shape. The area is noisy due to the proximity […] to the airport and the rail tracks, but we managed to sleep quite well using earplugs. The breakfast is not great but OK.
