Als Vorübernachtung für eine Kreuzfahrt völlig o.K. zumal das Hotel den kostenlosen Busshuttle stellt. Falls man zu Fuß Richtung Las Olaz Blv. geht, sollte man schon darauf achten, wer in der Umgebung rumläuft ( im Dunkeln besser mit dem Taxi fahren), da einige Obdachlose rumhängen.Aber das ist ja in Deutschland auch nicht anders. Stilgemäßes Art-Deco-Hotel für einen Aufenthalt mitten drin in Miami Beach. Sehr schönes Ambiente in der Lobby. Zwar ist das Personal viel Kommen und Gehen von Gästen gewöhnt, trotzdem noch positive, freundliche Routine.

In dieser Preiskategorie sicher eines der besten Hotels. Saubere und moderne Zimmer. Gutes Frühstück, sehr nettes Personal. Einzig negativ ist die Poolanlage. Mobiliar verbraucht und lädt nicht zum planschen ein. Pool ist auch sehr klein. Habe keine Gäste gesehen die sich dort aufgehalten haben. Aber ansonst sehr zu empfehlen da in kurzer entfernung(3min. Fußweg) Supermärkte, Restaurants und andere Geschäfte vorhanden. Von 6 Hotels in dieser Preisklasse die wir in Florida besuchtt haben, eindeutig das beste Hotel.

Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm. Allerdings war die Klimaanlage sehr kalt eingestellt.Man hat sofort gefroren wenn man das Zimmer verlassen hat. Ansonsten schöne grosse Zimmer mit Wohn - und Schlafbereich. Sehr gute Lage direkt am Strand und auch der Oceandrive ist nur 3 Automin. entfernt. In der direkten Umgebung wird gerade ein Hotel komplett saniert. Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

"Winter Haven Mittelklassehotel an top Lage"
Sehr schönes Mittelklassehotel an top Lage. Die Zimmer sind vor kurzen neu renoviert worden. Die Flure sind noch nicht renoviert, aber wie es aussieht, steht das bald an. Das Personal ist sehr nett, hilfsbereit und guter Laune. Ein Art Deco Hotel im Art Deco District, nur duch die schöne Promenade getrennt, direkt am Strand. Haben uns von Anfang an wohlgefühlt. Sehr nettes, hilfsbereites Personal. Der Strand von Miami Beach ist nur durch eine Strasse vom Hotel getrennt. Die Dame an der Reception war sehr bemüht damit wir unser Auto sicher Parken konnten. Zurzeit (waren vom 24. - 25. Nov.2011 im Hotel) werden einige Zimmer neu renoviert. Hat uns nicht gestört, waren eh nicht […] viel im Zimmer. Einziger Nachteil: Im obersten Stock hat es eine Dachterrasse die leider nicht so ansprechend aussah. Mehr

"Ocean Drive"
das Hotel liegt sehr zentral, mitten im Geschehen, am Ocean Drive. Das Frühstück ist super, ausserdem gibt es den ganzen Tag kostenlos Kaffee, Wasser und Schokoriegel kostenlos Das Personl war super nett ich kann das Hotel weiterempfehlen
"nettes Hotel, kleine Mängel"
Preis-Leistungsverhältnis für Miami OK, Valet Parking war etwas ungewöhnlich, da der Parkplatz irgendwo anders liegt und man so immer warten muss, bis das Auto kommt. Man kann auch nicht sehen wo das Auto steht, daher immer alles mitnehmen was im Auto liegt.

"Mitten im Leben!!!"
Habe einen Singleurlaub in diesem Hotel gemacht. Für die Zeit von 7 Übernachtungen war es super. Das Zimmer war immer sauber und alle Hotelangestellte sehr freundlich und haben immer weitergeholfen. Ein kleines Frühstück gibt es auch im Hotel. Dieses und 1-2 andere Serviceleistungen muss man aber direkt bei Anreise bezahlen. Pro Tag kostet dieses ca. […] 11 Dollar. Das Hotel ziemlich am Anfang des Ocean Drive, somit noch am ruhigen Teil. Innerhalb 2 Gehminuten ist man aber sofort im Geschehen. Viele Restaurants, Bars und Clubs. Also für jeden was dabei. Zur nahegelegen Lincoln Rd. sind es auch nur 5 min. Der Strand, welcher genau gegenüber vom Hotel liegt ist super schön. Weisser Sandstrand, sauber und natürlich von Rettungsschwimmern bewacht. Das Meer ist sehr klar und angenehm warm, also als Badeurlaub sehr zu empfehlen. Überhaupt kann ich Miami nur empfehlen. Man hat alles was man für einen Urlaub braucht. Sommer, Sonne, Strand, Meer, Stadt und viele Ausgehmöglichkeiten.... Auch werden viele Ausflugsmöglichkeiten angeboten. Hotel is nice and good value. Got charged a mandatory "amenities fee" on check in for a breakfast, gym discount and internet I didn't need/use, but location was great and we were overall very satisfied. Very professional staff. Clean.
"Excellent location and value for money"
Nice hotel with a fantastic location close to the beach and the water holes was around the corner. Renovated rooms, but the pillows could be better, so bring your own. Breakfast was better than expected. Even if the reception and bar area was still under renovation we enjoyed our stay !

The Winter Haven has beautiful rooms for the comparable South Beach price. The staff is very friendly. Im sure that once the construction is complete the main room will be awesome.

"Winterhaven-spring break 2011"
Staff was friendly and helpful (even offered an upgrade when I asked for an early check in time); hotel was under remodeling (no construction noise at all during my stay tho); location- awesome! "Spring Break & Construction"
This hotel "would" have been great if the lobby wasn't in remodel mode all day long - although they did put it back together for breakfast. The floors were being sanded and finished all day long, so the noise was irritating, you could sit outside, but not inside, and you had to navigate your way through the lobby to get to the elevator. This hotel "would" […] have been great if we were there at another time. There was a music festival and spring break going on. Our first night there was loud music from the club next door going on half the night. We were told that it would stop at 8 pm. When it was still going on at 11 we called the front desk - they said they would get back to us - a half an hour later they still hadn't called. We called hotels.com and they contacted our hotel - only then did they call us back and move us to a room on the other side of the hotel. We couldn't hear the music but were next door to a roomful of girls partying all night long for the next 2 nights. That being said the rooms were clean, breakfast was included, the location is right in the heart of the deco area, and the staff did the best they could. Mehr
"Great For the Location"
The hotel was in a great location! Conveniently located across from the beach & on the lively strip of Ocean dr. The rooms are on the small side. The one issue was the valet service. I had to wait almost an hour for my car! Very inconvenient!!!
The location, room, service and hotel was fantastic, the only reason I rated the condition of the hotel less than a 5 was due to the construction that was everywhere....can't wait to see it when its completed!

hotel was in a very central location and right across the street from the beach. Room was small but comfy and clean. they are doing renovations so there wasn't a light in the bathroom, but those were going to be installed soon.

Nice little hotel on Oceans drive. This means you are close to everything and right on the beach. The rooms are OK but quite run down. As I stayed at the hotel there was renovation on going. This did not affect my stay but hopefully the rooms will be better in the future. I had breakfast included which is ok. Location of this hotel is everything!

"A hidden gem in South Beach"
This hotel has an amazing location and if you are visitng Miami on a random weekend in January this is your hotel to be at. Streets are not crowded with college kids and plenty of parking spaces are available. They are renovating the upper floors first and our hotel room was newly renovated. The bathroom was done fairly well and felt clean and inviting. […] The bed was comfortable and from the window we could get a glimpse of the ocean. The location is excellent and with $11 resort fee you get beach towel $5 bar coupon, breakfast, snacks in the lobby (fruit and granola bar), and discount at a nearby restaurant. Front desk service was excellent and they are willing to help. I did not hear any renovation noises like the rest of the review says but if you are in your room long enough to start noticing noises, then why are you in Miami to begin with? "Winter Haven - not for sleeping"
great Location but walls are PAPER thin. I could hear the couple in the room next to ours simply having a normal conversation. They weren't yelling or anything, just talking. It was really hard to fall asleep. In addition, we had an ocean view which was nice at first, but at night it is nearly impossible to fall asleep with all the hustle and bustle […] on Ccean Drive. I wish they could put some insulation in the walls to mask some of these sounds. Everything else about the hotel was great. Staff was friendly and helpful, location was great, room was clean, etc. Only compliant was that i didn't sleep more than an hour or so. Oh and one more thing....obviously the bathrooms were designed by men because the sink was so tiny that there is no countertop to put makeup bags, hair dryers, or toothbrushes. You literally have to hold everythign in your hand when getting ready. In addition, the lighting in the bathroom is minimal and not enough to put on makeup. Mehr

The hotel is all about location. It is close to restaurants and bars but not directly above them. So one can walk to them without being disturbed at night. The rooms are decent size but the bathroom is small. I would stay again.

hotel is very clean and in good condition.In the lobby you allways get free coffee,apples,cold water.The location is great!! The only problem is the size of the room - it is pretty small, the bathroom is also very small.The stuff is very frendly and polite.There is no minibar or refrigirator in the room. "Good but..."
All in all it was a good place to stay - HOWEVER, there was construction during my visit of which I was unaware. The lobby was a disaster! And all day long, there was pounding and sawing and drilling. Then, while I am on a conference call with my office, the fire alarm goes off. The fire alarm went off 4 times in 45 minutes. Once this started, we tried […] to get down the elevator - which was a joke as well. There is 1 elevator of which was shared with all 5 floors as well as the cleaing crew and the construction workers. It took FOREVER, it was so frustrating. I would have just taken the stairs but the constuction blocked those as well. Lastly, after talking to the front desk about the fire alarm, they just blew us off like it was no big deal. I was very dissappointed with how everything was handled. I believe it would have been a delightful stay if it weren't for the ridiculous construcion and the lack of consideration by management. Mehr

"Pleasantly surprised!"
I have stayed in various hotels in this area and, within this price range, this is by far the best hotel I have encountered. Some renovations ongoing in the general areas of the hotel, but the rooms are renovated, clean, large enough and quite. Not to mention the massive closetspace! This hotel is in an unbeatable location. And when my tv didnt work at 1am, they were able to get someone from another hotel 5 blocks away to fix it really fast. the service was really personal. This hotel is currently under construction (Dec 2011) and looks like a disaster. Besides this, it is fairly run down. The pluses are that it's right on Ocean Drive close to the action, and that they do provide free breakfast.

"Great historic hotel, but under ongoing renovation"
I have stayed at the Winter Haven several times before and loved it. Beautiful building and lobby, simple but comfortable rooms and friendly staff all right on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach. This time, the hotel was under renovation, so I called ahead to get more details and was told that the construction was only in guest rooms and only on weekdays. […] Unfortunately, this was not the case. I arrived on Saturday and observed ongoing contruction through the weekend. There was sheetrock dust in the elevator and lobby, and I sometimes had to share the elevator with the workers. There was also occasional hammering going on in a room below mine (daytime only), and my ceiling light and fan kept turning on and off by itself. Hotel offered to waive the resort fee when I reported the problem with my light, which was nice. Most of this was a minor nuisance, but it did make my stay less enjoyable than usual. If you want to enjoy the experience of an historic Miami Beach hotel, I would recommend you wait until the construction is completed. Mehr

"Not bad"
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night before we got on a 3-day cruise. There was construction going on at that time - which is a good thing, it means they're renovating, which they probably need. The room was okay, small but okay. It was definitely an okay hotel to stay at for one night to a much better destination - so if you're not looking […] to spend a lot and just need a place to sleep for the night, this isn't a bad option. But if you're looking for a miami vacation, I wouldn't stay here. The hotel has very limited amenities, they over beach chairs and beach towels for a daily amenity fee, which was waived for us on account of my husband's birthday. "Great Location"
This art-deco hotel is well located across from the park and very handy to the beach, bikes, and good tavern. The staff was great and very accomodating for helping us check in early due to our early flight. Caution, there is some construction on the exterior underway and there is a lot of daytime construction noise. Beautiful lobby and porch!

"Jack hammer alarm"
My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel before heading on to finish our vacatin and wanted to sleep in prior to departing Miami. Well we werent told on hotels.com of any construction nor when we checked in to the Winter Haven. Woke up at 0920 to the sound of a man jack hammering on the outside wall of the hotel. We complained to the front desk and […] they said we should have gotten a letter on the desk in our room and a letter when we checked in. NOPE TO BOTH. The said all they could do was credit us the $11.50 Resort fee. WOW wont go back! That and the shower is smaller than the ones on cruise ships. Mehr

In short: All in all it's a great deal. Great location, great price compared to what else is around, helpful and very friendly staff. Highly recommended. More details: It's on the north end of South Beach making it a great location. Cross the street and you're on South Beach. Walk 3 blocks north and you're on the popular Lincoln Rd. The hotel is right […] out of a movie with the classic Miami art deco style. They have fresh fruit waiting for you in the lobby. Breakfast is included if you're up before 10am - unlikely if you enjoyed Maimi Beach's amazing night life. The room was big enough, comfy bed, nice TV. The bathroom is tight, but it is all white, very clean and quite charming. The staff was great at all hours of the day. They were one of the best I've experienced.
