I was disappointed in the condition of the rooms. I stayed here rather than my typical place as I was looking for something a little nicer. The pool area was very nice and met expectations. The room was not clean at all. There was a greazy handprint next to the toilet that looked definitely like a prior male visitor had put their hand on the wall while […] using the facilities. When we arrived there was not a towel in the room at all and when they came they were very thin and not absorbant. There was no shampoo in the room at all -- when I asked, he seemed like I was asking for something extreme. Mehr

Rude staff; I booked a nonsmoking room in advance, but only smoking rooms were available - as I checked in after 11 p.m., I had no alternative but to stay; room keys did not work; dirty floors, exterior and interior; hairdryer non-operational; crumbling outer walls.

The room, especially the carpet, was not clean.

I don't know how this hotel could have the rating and reviews it does!! I travel for business and have already stayed 30 plus nights this yeat alone and it is only April. The rooms are tiny and only one person can move around at a time.The bed was very old and the pillows were very thin. The bathroom door can't open all the way because it hits the small […] toilet. The 3/4 sink had a crack in it and the the shower head was at 5', and paint was peeling off the wall. When the maid cleaned the room she left the the cleaning rag on the towel rack over the clean towels. That is when I had, had enough and called Hotels.com. They helped me cancal my remaining 3 days and I found another place to go. Stay away from this hotel, you can find a better deal anywhere else for the price !!! Great location, Great staff. Lush landscape and beautiful pool. Bathroom design was poor. Very difficult to use toilet.

Planned to stay here for 3 nights but left after the first. It was a very run down hotel. Odd stain on the carpet on entering, thin walls, linens that slipped off the mattress, peeling paint in the bathroom, bathroom door did not open all the way as it hit against the toilet, etc, etc, etc... Would not recommend.

This place is a far cry from the pics and room conditions! The rooms are so tiny only one person can move around at a time. The pillows are very thin, the bed is very old, the bathroom door can't open all the way because the toilet is in the way. The "resort" is an old 1950s converted hotel. I had a great deal of trouble with the room key. I went to the office several times. Not once did the clerk say sorry, I found my hotel room run down and Shabby. I did like the vast amount of parking available.

I read some of the reviews (good and bad) to get a feel for the place. Most of the hotels in this general area had similar reviews, in that the hotels were older and in need of refurbishing. For the price and time I was going to be there, the hotel suited my needs; a room to lay my head for the night. The hotel is old, and has older furnishings like […] that of a motel. Definitely "Blue Collar" level, but if that's all you need for a short stay, which is what my needs were (1 night), then it's fine. If you're going to spend the majority of the day, or better yet all day, at theme parks and dining out, then it's fine. Not the type of place you look forward to going back to at the end of the day like you would a bright and lively Vegas hotel, with bright furnishings. The furnishings were dull and dark looking; maybe to hide the wear and tear. Overall, a decent 1 1/2 to 2 star hotel. Mehr

Location is great on Hotel Circle. Beds were very comfortable and rooms clean. Pillows were very thin, towels old and scratchy. Room lock was not working properly and had trouble getting into room each time. Water stood in bath tub when taking shower and would not drain. Reported botjh to office and neither was fixed. Property seems to be not making […] alot of money to keep up maintenance. Would not recommend with so many others on Hotel Circle that are better and same price. Mehr

This property was disgusting, the room was old, run down and unclean. We determined within 15 minutes of checking in that we could not stay - forfeited the cost and left immediately. Hotels.com list this as a 3 star - that is absolutely false, it is barely a 1 star. Would expect to see it rented as an hourly hotel.

If I hadn't already prepaid the room I would have checked out the minute I saw it. First of all, after unloading all of the luggage from my car, I discovered that they gave me a room with 2 double beds rather than the King bed I requested. The room was less than satisfactory. It looked as though someone had been laying on the comforter, the phone was […] filthy and the phone cord would not stay plugged in. The room appeared dirty and dated. I called from my cell phone and they told me they would change me to a room with a king bed. The new room wasn't much better than the first one, except that it had a king bed. I found "body hair" on the comforter, the bathroom exhaust fan was filthy, the bathroom paint was peeling and the carpet needed to be replaced. If you are looking for comfort and cleanliness, I would not recommend this hotel. Mehr

The hotel was in a great location, but the room and bathroom desperately need to be repainted. The door to the bathroom opened up into the narrow hallway and blocked the closet. Beds were uncomfortable and the metal in the bath was rusted and in need of attention. It was a very "old style" setup. Hotel staff not friendly and give out the impression they dont want to be there. Room needed a major overhaul, paint peeling from the walls, toilet was for a 5 year old, bed leaned to one side, and the pillow sheets were thicker than the pillow. Carpet was dirty, smelled, and sticky. And finally, the sheets had seen better days. I actually slept on […] the comforter in order to avoid having my body touch the sheets. The room was terrible. There were holes in the bedspread, broken closet doors, water damage. I would never stay there again.

They had overbooked our single room so they upgraded us to a suite! Everything about it was amazing. The surrounding areas were nice and everything made the night spectacular! Even the shower curtain was wide and comfortable.

The room was clean but showed it age. The bed was hard and so were the pillows. The heater was extremely noisy. For the price better to stay at the howard johnson down the street and cheaper too.

This was nothing positive to say about my experience. Let me list the highlights: - Could not use bathtub, the bathtub stopper was inoperable. Reported it on the first day of my stay and it was never fixed. - Paper thin walls with crying babies and barking dogs in adjacent rooms. - People on the catwalk outside the rooms smoking and drinking and just […] overall being loud. It got so bad that I had to move hotels during the evening of my last night just so my kids could get some sleep. And in a recurring theme I had left multiple messages for the manger regarding my stay and they have never returned them. You can find a better stay at any of the other hotels in the area. Mehr

I recommend this hotel to everybody. I'd stay here for months!!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Firstly, the room was very comfortable and enjoyable, and was in close proximity to both a convenience store as well as a restaurant on site where food can be ordered. The location is fairly ideal, close to both malls as well as plenty of restaurants and other goings on, and maybe ten minutes from downtown/sea […] world, etc. The location is very pretty, and service is decent. I stayed at this hotel and at first I was okay with it but then when it came up to customer service, I was really unhappy with it. I only had stayed one night and then they put a deposit hold on my card which I do understand they have to do but not for over 3 business days!!! Everytime I would call and want to get an answer, everyone had a different […] one every time. I ask for the manager and ask if he can fix the problem, he says he will and no progress, then noone can seem to find him or know when he will be in next. So never again will I go there, I'd rather spend the extra $100 and go to the Embassy Suites, where I should've stayed loyal to, there they take care of you completely. Mehr

I've stayed at this location very convinient for me. This time my room smelled like a smokers room. The neighbor was up till approx. 4am being loud. It seemed like they were having a party.

Have stayed here before. Great location for San Diego. Nice grounds with many features. FREE parking - FREE wireless in room and a computer/printer to use FREE in reception area. FREE coffee with flavored creamers in reception area. Rooms are older, but taken care of nicely. Beds comfortable with 3 pillows on King bed. Comp coffee maker with FREE coffee […] in rooms. Bathroom towels plentiful and bright / warm bathroom lighting. Tub OK with curved shower curtain. Safe in room. 2 side chairs with table in room too. Overall, a great buy with excellent location. If your looking for a place to lay your head and no frills it's a good value. If your going on romantic getaway and want luxury then look somewhere else. If you get a good price point it's ok

this is an older hotel, but for the price it was clean, easy access, more a motel then hotel - which was a good thing having 2 dogs with us.

We stayed at this hotel because while we were in San Diego for my nephew's Marine Corps graduation. The room smelled kind of funny from when we got there, it was really cramped there was hardly and room for 3 of us to walk around. The bathroom was very inconveniently small and right across (2 ft) from the closet. Also, in the morning when we tried […] using the hair dryer, the lights in the bathroom went out, and when we called maintenance, they said they were going to go check the breakers and he kept on turning off and on all the other lights in the room, like he had no idea what he was doing. Overall, it was disappointing, the toilet had dust all over it, so did the counter, there was only two towels in a 2 queens room. The bathtub was not gross looking. There was no complimentary nothing. I guess you do get what you paid for, it was a really cheap price but I expected higher standards with it being part of the "Hotel Circle" close to Sea World, the airport and the MCRD. Mehr

Great best kept secret for the price! Great Location! Great price! Some MAY consider rooms "outdated" but unless you plan on spending all your time in your room...who cares! Sports Bar w/pool tables, 24 Restaurant, and convenience store all on premises. Several Specialty Catering trucks arrived unexpectedly on Thursday night and provided excellent selection […] of diverse foods and deserts! I would recommend it to those on a budget. I was just looking for an inexpensive place to house the in-laws, and this worked great! I did the check-in and explained to the staff what I was doing. They were kind enough to upgrade the room since they weren't too full. The in-laws said they loved it and were very comfortable. (If you can please in-laws, you win.) They never knew how much it cost, […] and it was easier than having them at the house since we needed to get ready for work in the morning. This hotel advertised as "dog friendly" but when I checked in (after booking through hotels.com) they told me I owed them $75 for the dog. It was almost the same price as the room! They should let people know this in advance. Had I known this, I would not have booked the room.

It should not be called a "resort" but a "motel." Rooms are small with exterior hallways. The room was not very clean. The room was not well maintained: there were exposed wires in the bathroom, the drawers did not open correctly, and the wall socket so old and used that they would not hold the cord end in them. Save your time on this place and drive right by. Don't stop, go find a respectful hotel...

The Hotel grounds are really pretty. The room was ok, it would have been nicer if the bedding wasn't full of holes. Overall it was a good deal.

For the price it was decent, however there was a dirty pair of underwear my son found under the bed.

When making my reservation I asked for a ground floor room and then when I checked in I asked for a ground floor room because I have trouble walking up stairs, my breathing is not very good due to me having lung cancer and I told the lady this and she still gave me a room upstairs when there was rooms vacant on the ground floor of the same building […] my room was in. I was very disappointed and will never use that hotel again Mehr

There are many good hotels on hotel circle in San Diego, this is not one of them. The hotel was understaffed and cared little about guests. I stayed for four nights the "Free Internet" only worked once, the room phone was so full of static you could not even hear the desk when they answered. And, while the room was clean the bed was very old and the […] blanks and sheets had a greasy feel to them. Bottom line, DO NOT let this this hotel taint you opinion of San Diego hospitality and service. There are many fine hotels in the area. Choose one of them. Mehr

Recently I booked this hotel for a family vacation based on reviews. We booked couple of Non-smoking rooms and everything looked fine till we arrived. On arriving they informed us that the only room that was available were smoking rooms and if we wished to take it. We requested if they can provide at least one room as we had kid, but the only response […] we got was take it or leave it. Left with no options, we took the room. However our night mares increased. The rooms were too stinky and unclean. The bathrooms were rusty and unclean. The bed and the pillows stink so much one could easily pass out from the nicotine smell. And finally the walls.... They have to be thinest walls one could have. You could hear what your neighbors were talking, people coughing their lungs out... Over all we just wished we had never booked it and just wanted the night to pass so that we can move to a better hotel (which we did). Mehr

I've visited SD in the past, and have always considered this hotel as an option. Let me start with the good. The grounds were clean, well maintained. Room was incredibly drafty due to huge gap beneath and on the sides the room door. I constantly had to run the heater to keep warm. Only 4 towels, no washcloths! TV kept blacking out. I am a business traveler for 25 years and this is the very first time I check into a dump. I needed a place to sleep for 3 hours close to San Diego Airport and booked a non-smoking room, which they didn't have at check-in, what they did have were BED BUGS. I had to attend my meeting the next day with two bites on my face and others throughout my body. […] The place smelled terrible and the sheets were so worn out, they felt like tissue. My girlfriend and i stayed here to go to a downtown club event. Great location surrounded only by other nice hotels. My only complaint is that this is a resort but no microwave or fridge in the rooms? This hotel should not be a 3 star rated facility! The room had a horrible bed. The bathroom tub looked like it had been painted to hide rust. The 3 towels in room were filthy one had black spots the other red. yuck! i dried off with the hand towel. A crazy security guard came banging on my door at 2 am because someone was fighting outside my room they […] assumed it was me (i was alone). They did not bother to call before saying they were sending security to check on me, then when i see this person who has no ID to identify him other than just saying he is hotel security, I told him i would not open door until i called the front desk and he said don't open it you can open it for the San Diego Police dept! WOW......... I spoke with front desk in the early so i could get out of there and she did not offer an apology exept she would be sure to speak with the security guard...... This place is crap. I have stayed in many of the Hotels in that area but this should not have the rating it did because that is what i looked at with price. Mehr
