La Tour Centre Ville - Montreal

Good hotel for the price. Wouldn't wanna stay for more than a couple of days though....

First off, I would hardly call this a hotel. The furniture was old, carpet kinda smell, and the TV wasn't even flat screen - it was a BOX. Now don't get me wrong. I am not saying that the place is dirty or filthy. I am just implying that the hotel requires some upgrade in it's furniture as well as accessories. Secondly, there was hardly a "spot" for […] parking. I had to move my car to a private garage in addition paying $17 a night (apparently that is the way it works in Montreal). However, the location of this hotel is phenomenal. It's located in the heart of Montreal, right in the business district, adjacent to Chinatown. If you are on a tight budget, and you could care less about the setting/environment of the hotel, then I strongly recommend La Tour Centre Ville. However, if you wanna impress your girlfriend or date, do NOT stay at this hotel. Mehr

I chose this hotel for its convenience close to the conference center and the kitchen with fridge and freezer. The kitchen was simple and only had the bare necessities to eat breakfast and lunch, but did have a working microwave, fridge, freezer and stove. Overall the room was simple and could use some up-dates, but clean. Wireless internet worked flawlessly […] and at speeds sufficient to use Skype. Mehr

I should have listened to previous reviews. The hotel is NOT worth the money. Dim lighting, old uncomfortable beds, no working wireless, smelly, I could go on. I was supposed to stay for two nights but only stayed for one. It is worse than a motel, but for a ridiculously high price per night.

i have been recommending this hotel to everyone i know, its nice a cheap and reall close to down town so i absolutly love it.

The hotel is located close to St. Catherine Street and Chinatown. To Chinatown is probably a 5 minutes walk and to St. Catherine Street, a 15-20 minutes walk. The hotel is near the highway so that's very convenient. The room was a bit run down. For the price, I guess you can only ask for so much. I had stayed at other hotels in Montreal (I Love Montreal!) […] and their prices are very satisfying. Prices of surrounding hotels are just a little bit higher than La Tour Centre Ville but the rooms are much cleaner, comfier, and nicer. I'm actually surprised that this apartment hotel was of much lesser quality. Even though this is an apartment style hotel, but all they have are appliances plus some plates and cups. There are no cooking utensils or cookware. Thus, If you do stay here, bring your own pots and pans. I don't recall seeing forks, spoons, and knives either. The staff are nice. The parking lot is 2 blocks away from the hotel. Overall, this hotel is alright but I won't stay here next time. There's much better options around. Mehr

The hotel is very dated....and in need of some updates....badly. I'm not overly picky when it comes to hotel rooms but this one definitely tainted my trip a bit. Was going away on my anniversary with my husband and was looking forward to a bit more of a relaxing time in our hotel room. I didn't end up wanting to spend any time there. The hotel was clean […] but the paint had been patched with a different colour, and the bedsheets were ripped on the sides. Great location and very close to everything. A well-run hotel in a great location with reasonable rates. That said, this is not a luxurious hotel, but it is clean and run by a very attentive and polite staff. I would easily stay here again.

The location is very convenient for the visit in Montreal. The disadvantages are: - no space for parking no breakfast included in the rate. The breakfast shop on the first floor is very expensive.

found hairs in my bed sheet and the bathroom floor and tub the size of my index finger. when requested a new set of bedware the hotel manager said he only has one unused (still not clean) blanket. then i requested another room. same situation there. i left the hotel at 3AM as i could not get them to give me a clean room, but they still charged me for […] the night. avoid this place!!! Hotel was ok, wouldn't recommend it unless your on a tight budget then its great. Hotel room was clean but just felt dirty still. Couldn't control the heat in the room so was very very cold. Street noise was very loud as well. Customer service was very unhelpful when asking about restaurants and parking.

It's cheap and in a good location. So if that's all that matters to you, then go for it. The rooms were clean but looked like they hadn't seen any repairs since 1990. If you are taking a suite, you should know that the only AC unit is in the living room. There is nothing in the bedroom. Apparently, that one AC is supposed to "push the cool air into […] the bedroom", according to the hotel staff. I'm not sure if the regular rooms have similar issues. The hotel staff were friendly and upgraded us from two regular rooms to two suites (I'm not sure why). Although, give the AC condition, I would have preferred the regular rooms. This was my first time in Montreal so I didn't know much about the area but if I were to go back, I would pick a different hotel. Mehr

This hotel is no Taj Mahal, but if you are on a budget this hotel is worth considering. Located close to transport links and city highlights, all you need is a sense of direction and a little common sense to make your way around. Maybe it had to do with being Americans in French Canada, but the hotel staff didn't seem interested in helping us at all. The front desk was plain rude to us and problems that I called ahead to make sure were resolved were ignored even after I was told everything would be fine. The room itself was ugly. I guess they were going for a historic vibe, […] but I've never thought of the 70's as being worth remembering from a decor sense. Add on the fact that parking for the hotel was over 3 blocks away and cost $18/night and I have to recommend that this hotel be passed over for something a bit nicer. Mehr

Great location and great deal!

You have to ask for towels or pillows although the room did not have one. When we asked for, they provide them to us. It all depends on the person. We use it only for sleeping. Most of the day we were out. It did not bother us.Then we had to pay separate for parking. We can have all these included and could be better or even cheaper somewhere else.

Nice place, internet worked very well and the most important, just on the centre of the city. I would like to had breakfast inside, but you can find easy around, just a few min. walking. A little bit expensive in its category.

The hotel was clean, a little dated with the interiors but ideally located . I actually had great Chinese food located to the left of the lobby. If your a no frills person it's the best crash pad for you...

It served our purposes nicely. We were dropping off our daughter at McGill and had to wait until her apartment was ready. Well-located and friendly personnel.

Do not except anything great. Its a place to stay the night, shower and go out for the day. I stayed with 2 friends in a Large Suite. Furniture was run down, carpets were not very clean BUT the shower/towels were acceptable. Beds/mattress/sheets were clean and comfortable. There is no service after the morning. The MOST UNCOMFORTABLE beds I have ever slept in. Little tiny towels and only 2 given for 4 people. The room we got had very loud air conditioning and springs poking out of the sofa bed. They were very helpful getting us another room, but I think the whole hotel just needs new beds and sofa beds and a renovation...wouldn't go there again.

While the location is fairly close to downtown and rates are reasonable, the room we were in was dimly lit and rather shabbily furnished. The pilllows were lumpy and uncomfortable. Other guests were yelling in the hall from 2:00 to 3:00 in the morning. Parking is 2 blocks away. The staff at the front desk were friendly though.

Location is great - between St. Catherine street and historic Montreal. Hotel could use some new paint job and maintenance and some fabrezz for the room. Was ok to "crash" at the end the day.

nicely situated DT montreal. Price definitely reflect the situation of the hotel, not the quality of the room. Room are out dated but clean, very noisy on the street side. Got a smoking room on the street side, although I specifically requested a non-smoking one. When I asked for another room, they could not provide me with another one. The old smoke […] smell really turned me off to the point I actually had to go buy a spray to kill the smell. Mehr

We expected little but found our accomodation more than satisfying! Staff was extremely nice and the room on the 17th floor offered a great view towards the Saint Laurent. Merci!

La Tour Centre-Ville is located smack in the middle of Montreal's hot spots including old Montreal and the downtown core. Our room was very clean and had a pretty good view of Chinatown and the surrounding area. Hotel employees were very friendly and spoke well in both English and French and were extremely polite and fast. Way better than I expecte […] d! Mehr

A convenient hotel to stay in Montreal.

Stains on the carpet, the mattress, the walls... This place desparately needs an update. The kitchen looked like it was straight out of the 70s, the towels were teeny and threadbare, and the AC stopped working after the first night. The staff were friendly and helpful enough, and the location was very convenient, but I wouldn't stay here again.

Great location. Dirty carpets in hallways. Slow elevators. Had to pay extra for parking which was a public lot 2 blocks away. Otherwise the rest was good.

Great location however that's all it had going for it. Stove and bedroom light didn't work and despite our complaints they weren't fixed and we weren't offered another room. Towel rack fell off the wall, questionable cleanliness as well. Wouldn't stay there again.

The location of the hotel to the VIA station was excellent and close to St. Catherine street if you're there for shopping. The room was large enough but the bed was uncomfortable and NOT the queen size described. The kitchen is small and missing dishes and if you like to have a shower...bring your own bath towel...their's are so small, no wash cloths […] or puffs. The Deli attached to the hotel is nasty...so don't eat there. Staff rude, food greasy and very expensive for what you are given. Hotel is within walking distance of Old Montreal, China Town but not close to the Metro. All in all, for the money we paid, I think it could have been better. Mehr

Stayed here with two friends for Osheaga and judging by the pictures online it looked decent for the price. Turns out it was awful, dirty rooms, everything from the carpets to the walls to the bed sheets were stained. Being three of us, you would assume there would be enough towels for three people, but you had to track down a maid to give you an extra […] one. The worst part of all, is the potential threat of bed bugs. After we had checked in, we found several reviews saying they had issues with bed bugs. Later we actually found one and now have to go through several steps to ensure we don't contaminate our own homes. To sum it up, the stay at this hotel was pretty much a nightmare. Mehr

In my honest opinion the hotel was not all that bad mind you the service is a little off the room had enough dishes to serve the people of the room, but did not have enough glassware, drinking, and wine glasses. I did not feel a need to ask for more either. No frying pans either again I spent four nights and spent most days enjoying the sights. Place is convenient and good price

I stayed with 4 other friends at this hotel and had many problems. 1) I made the reservations over the phone, with someone who could barely understand my requests. 2) I was sharing a room with a couple, and in our reservation it said "extra bed for additional person" and the attendant on the phone said the total price included this 3rd person. When […] I got to the hotel, they were very rude and told me that they didn't want to know what the attendant said or what was printed on my paper: there was a charge for the extra person and I had to pay regardless! 3) the rollaway bed they provided for me was crooked and terrible to sleep in. 4) The room they gave to my other friends had half of the light bulbs burnt and when my friend asked at the Reception if they could replace them, the receptionist gave him a bulb (she only had one!) and told him he’d have to do it himself since they didn’t have any other person to do it! 5) My friends’ room had walls with wholes on it 6) We only stayed there for the weekend, but while we were there, we actually saw 3 other customers complaining: 2 about lack of towels and 1 woman that was extremely upset because she had her teenagers’ room been given to a new customer while the kids where still inside the room! (the new customers had the key card and got into the room while the kids where there all by themselves‼!). In short: a terrible hotel experience I wouldn’t recommend to anyone! Mehr

I would never stay there again. For starters while checking in the women did not give me her undivded attention. She would be in the middle of talking with me, and then answer the phone and book someone a room. What would have taken 3 minutes took us about 15 min!! Secondly, the room was grungy! It smelt like old moth balls, mixed with gross body odor. […] Thirdly, the bed sheets looked dirty to the point where you would only sleep overtop the sheets. Lastly, while taking a shower the tub wouldnt drain so god only knows what filth your feet are submerged in. Mehr

Good cheap place to party with friends while in Montreal

Well situated for the Jazz Festival. The interior is well worn but the staff is very friendly and accomodating. The rooms are spacious and clean. I would stay there again but those who tend to spend time in their room might want to reconsider as the TV remote didn't work for the TV in the room, the furniture is not the most comfotable, etc.
