I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. when I first arrived thee first room had a light out in the restroom so to accommodate us we were showen 2 rooms to choose to be moved to. The room was large and the bathroom had large mirrors which were great for us girls doing hair and make up. I thought the hotel was a little far from the french quarter but not too […] far that you could not walk there. it was close to the casino and the art quarter as well. The previous ratings where high, so we thought we where on to a winner.The hotel is in the right place and in a nice area but it is in need of some TLC. The staff were fine but the dinning room and bar were not open to guests and only opened for private parties. No Breakfast is available but luckily the cafe on the green at the next hotel was excellant. […] The room was definately not deluxe, carpets where badly fitted, bedside light fittings were broken, cables running under the carpet, the ironing board was fitted so the wardrobe door could not fully shut. No bathrobes as advertised. Overall the room and hotel was not as advertised and was dissapointing. Mehr

The hotel is well located and the staff was friendly. They have no gym. My room was never able to cool off below 74 degrees, even though thermostat was set lower. When I got into the room it was at 82, with 100% humidity is a serious concern in New Orleans. TVs are from the reagan administration. Shower did have shampoo. Towels are at least 10 years […] old. The Staff was very friendly and treated with respect. They made our stay feel warm and welcome. Only thing they would need to upgrade the T.v's in the room but other then that it is a great hotel by far I have ever stayed in. The location of the Hotel is great almost everything is in walking distance.

Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Great location with street care access. Bar tender lady made good drinks and when asked for special orders she made every effort to get ingredients she didn't have from the reasturant.

The hotel's location is exceptional and their service is extremely good and personalized. Although is an old building, the property is well maintained and the rooms are spacious and very clean. The restaurant is top notch although pricey. One recommendation, avoid rooms with windows facing the central HVAC system as it is might be very noisy. The Lafayette is a perfect example of a New Orleans hotel! Perfectly clean and the staff was so helpful. Carly Jane went out of her way to offer services and to make our stay as comfortable as possible. It is a short walking distance to everything. We are already planning another trip, and excited to stay at the Lafayette again!

Two adults, two kids. We spent two nights followed by a trip north and then back for a night. The front desk staff went over the top to take care of us. They remembered us when we came back through and continued to take really good care. Our balcony ended up looking over a live music and food festival...perfect. Great location; this gem of a boutique hotel needs polishing. The room was very dim, and musty. We had to request an extra standing lamp. The drapes were falling down and in need of repair; there was no shades on the windows. It was a good size room that needed redecorating. The bathroom was large and the shower was fantastic; great pressure and hot […] water; they didn't get around to installing those water savers that turn the shower into a trickle. Again, the bathroom was very dark, not enough lighting. The hair drying should have been bolted to the wall instead of being kept on a shelf. The staff was very helpfull and attentive. There were no bathrobes as stated in the web site. This property could and should be restored/updated. It was still with all the imperfections a good 4 day stay. Mehr

No concessions available - not even drink machine. no door to safe in room.

I was really upset to find at check in time there was a 50 pet fee that hotels.com did not tell me about. I asked before booking and booked because they were pet friendly. There were no drink machines and the restraunt was not open. Closest place to get a drink or coffee was 3 blocks. The traffic kept me a wake through the night.

I got excellent care and attention at the Lafayette. They greeted me each day and gave cogent advice about tours, restaurants, and sights in New Orleans. The room was nice and large - bigger than I expected and the view of the trees was pretty. Dwayne was very helpful and informative. Helped me locate the cab I lost my wallet in. overall the hotel was very clean and the room was spacious. Only concern was the streetcar was very noisy outside of our room. But you cant beat the location.. Walking distance to everything

The hotel was charming; staff very helpful- the sofa mattress was uncomfortable but overall I would recommend this hotel. The restaurant attached to the hotel (can't remember the name) - very snooty and you MUST have reservations. Don't wear cammo or shorts - they won't even talk to you. For an older hotel, it was clean. The service was decent, though the staff did not give any notice while the "boil water" was in effect. That meant no coffee in the room, but even then, it didn't seem that I'd be missing out on much, except convenience. It was sometimes a chore to get a cab. No one went above and beyond to help. Also, the level of effort […] and accuracy of the nearby fitness center was poor, to the point that after wandering around for 20 minutes and several streets, I finally gave up on the notion, which was disappointing. The mattress was not comfortable and the cold water handle in the shower was slightly broken. The restaurant attached was closed when I arrived on Sunday. With plans to grab lunch, that was inconvenient. This hotel was a desperate choice when nothing else was available nearby and under $400/night, so it served its purpose, but I would not choose it again. Mehr

Room was very clean. Vintage furniture. Windows had great view of St. Charles street and is very close to Lafayette Park. Several very nice restaurants within easy walking distance. New Orleans Conference Center was close enough to walk. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is ideally situated on a streetcar line and for $3 per day you can travel on any streetcar or bus. Great value. The staff were very helpful as were most of the people in the city itself. I arrived with a car and paid $28 per day for the valet parking which seemed expensive but really when compared to the self park rates locally it wasn't.

I would stay here again and again. The location was excellent. I loved the artsy feel of the neighborhood, the proximity to Rouses market, WW2 museum,the street cars, the garden district, the French quarter, etc. the room was maintained beautifully, the bed was so comfortable and the shower was amazing. We stayed at the Lafayette Hotel during a recent conference in New Orleans. Since most of the conference hotels are basically only close to the Morial Convention Center, we wanted a location that was a bit more in the middle of sights. We lucked out! This hotel was in a nice quiet area (only noise was the streetcar going down the street every half hour, […] but it was an almost pleasant sound!), and equidistant from the French Quarter and the Convention Center. It was close to excellent food and was easy to travel back from drinking in the quarter. Plus the bed was HUGE and one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in. Will definitely recommend! Mehr

Nice quiet hotel in a great location. We did not rent a car and could walk or take a bus or trolley to everything we wanted to see. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The room did not have a mini fridge, which would have been nice, since there were no drink machines. But all in all, it has a nice charm to it and was a comfortable place […] to stay. The hotel staff was wonderful. It is within walking distance to everything. I loved the fact it was in a safe and very well lit area. Also, the street car runs right in front of the hotel. We will definately stay here again.
